Thanks for the video! I was thinking about getting a single Skar 12 but after this video I think I'll take the American Bass. If you pause @7:29 you can see where the Skar "dimples" come from. They line up directly above the screws for the spider. Lucky I found this video or I would have bought them!!!
Nice video Parker. Thanks for playing them all two. Good editing having the subs ready to play as soon as you were done describing them. I know that's a lot of work to switch out them subs and set em back up each time. Kudos.
Those dimples usually happen when u push the spider or surround past there throw point and it kinda makes a hexagon usually comes from playing well below box tuning, but a 2.4 db difference is a lot between the mvx and skar
I REALLY like the NVX subs, I have a AP TXX-BDC2 and it misses the mark on SQ but can't be beat on SPL by any other sub in it's price range of $100. I really want two NVX 12's in a large sealed for my daily commuter.
SQ, power handling, and budget friendly don't usually go together. That said, for a noticeable increase in volume you'll need to at least double rated power. The rule is a 3 db increase for every doubling of power or doubling of woofer cone area. Tropo 15 is 450 watts RMS I believe, so assuming for something in the 1000 watt range, decent sound Q, I'd say American Bass XR series (NOT RX) . It's got composite cone, 1200, rms rating and it's decently priced. Sounds better than the XFL also. Don't get me wrong, it's still loud af, but more SQ oriented. Bob, the owner of American bass has stated its his favorite woofer they manufacture more than once on the phone. I can plug you with a good price if you need one. They retail around around $230 I believe. If budget to you means more than 200, it opens the door to many better woofers as well.

Got two skar svr 10s running on a taramp 3000 at 1 ohm. Had it on a skar 1500 and that amp was a complete pos. Taramp 3000 and my volts stay at 14-13v and hits way harder with no clipping. Lowest it drops is 12.7 with gain at half on rebassed songs. Stock 75 amp alternator and stock 750 ca battery
Nothing wrong with any of these subs. But since I am running a Audiopipe amp I went with the Audiopipe sub and I love both! I will stick with Audiopipe all the way.

Remember, FS really isn’t a spec that can tell you for certain a sub will be able to have solid output down low. QT is a way better indicator for that! Higher the number the lower the sub will go. A cars acoustics/transfer function also plays a significant role in this as well. Most importantly, in order for a sub to get down and dirty low, gotta be sealed! Sealed boxes are just low note monsters!
The Skar is getting dimples on the cone cause it is smacking the spider plate. It’s common problem with the evl. Love the videos tho!!! Been between the bdc4 and xfls. This helped!!!
Right on man cool vid! Yeah no doubt. Heck I am just running a couple subs, on an Orion amp that pushes around 4k or so RMS at 1 ohm, though I've been running it at .8 ohms which I believe bumps it up to around 5k if I'm pushing it, plus another 300 RMS amp to some 6x9's, and I have 0 gauge running from the main (battery under the hood is a good 1k CCA) back to the secondary battery a foot away from the Amps. With the Big 3 done under the hood, and exceptional grounds and all connections for the rear battery (also a 1 thousand CCA high quality marine battery) as was done everywhere.. I think I'd be pushing my battery, wiring, and alternator setup if I was to add my other sub amp, or maybe even adding my other full range 300/600 RMS amp to another set of components or 3 ways etc I think that I would be pushing it past what it can safety put out to power the Amps enough
Those dimples in the cone are the bolts holding the spider ring down hitting the cone, due to over excursion.. those bolts hit the cone before you actually bottom out the former. Turn that sub sonic up almost half way.. they will break all the way through if you’re not very careful.

It’s a common misconception that copper can’t handle heat when in actuality the melting point of copper is significantly higher than aluminum. Aluminum’s better at heat dissipation but you sacrifice motor force and low end output. I’m a copper guy or as a compromise a cca guy but I never like the sound of pure aluminum coils.

this really helped me see how good the EVL is . i’ve planned to get one for the last week it’s just a matter of when i’m financially ready for it . i wanted it mainly because i have an RP 2000 just like yourself, but i want it all to be Skar so i can put a Skar sticker on my trunk and not feel guilty for having an (insert sub name here) . lol . but yeah . and plus skar subs just look good . maybe one day when i get bored i’ll try American bass out but definitely helped me see just how good the EVL is and matched up with others . LOVED this vid . 💯💯
Caleb Skunza the EVL is a great sub you won’t be disappointed!
I have the 15' EVL. Nice clean bass
I think audiopipe needs more recognition ill take ap over kickers anyday but ab over ap only the hd lol that rhymes
I have noticed that the audio companies are focusing more on spl and less on sq . Jlaudio and mtx do a good job at both Orion is another
When companies started outsourcing to china and pretending tsp'd didn't matter everything went to shit. Zero upgrades in 14 years.
Shouldnt same song been played for all subs?
NVX & American Bass. Tough decision.
Your comparison vids are the best out there!!!!
I have 2 nvx 12 "and these subwoofers are very strong I have used them for more than 4 years and they still sound without problems
I'm still rocking a Elemental Design 12" 13Ov.2 subwoofer for my home theater. It won't quit. This video gave me some good options.
I NEEDED THIS VIDEO! THANK YOU!
Glad it helped man!
Salute to you Parker... I know doing these comparison videos are tedious.
Thanks for keeping us informed so that we can spend our $ wisely.
👍😎👍
Well, I already have the APMI 2K amp so it looks like I’ll be getting the AP BDC4. Thanks for the video
Did you end up getting the bdc4 i wana get 2. Please let me know
@@lukeglavan yes I got one in a large ported box and it hits harder than the 2 Punch P3 12’s I had before using the same amp. Very happy with this sub. It def hits lower but not as good for non-rap music.
Did you have to upgrade your power supply? (battery etc )
That boy playin that ‘em 💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
NVX is the winner in this line up in my personal experience. Best, cleanest lows.
NVX!!!
I recently got 2 of the xfl 12's, they're the new style identical to yours but have a high roll surround with no ribs and the voice coils have black glue that more resembles the skars coil you showed. Fantastic subs, just thought it was strange the subs could vary with the same model number xfl 1244
Lemme just say I have't had any of those subs but ive have the audiopipe' bd4 15s and bd2 12s and they sound really good for the price.
At 14:33 4 AWG & 8 AWG wire ferrules will make your life easier.😏👍
Another great video Parker.
Thanks dude!!
@@ParkerTheBasshead no problem! I corrected the spelling. It's ferrule pronounced like the name.
Audiopipe ftw
This was a service to the world contemplating an upgrade. I'd really like to throw some money at a $200+ sub, but my car is a POS and my current power acoustik 124x sounds meh. Love seeing you inverted at the end cause that's what I did a few weeks ago. Opened up my 124x to another dimension in the undersized box. Been eyeing Skar but starting to question the looks of the dust cap. idk yet
the kicker L7 12 solo baric is now under $200 and yas #1 american Bass #2 Audiopipe #3 NVX #4 Skar
Ya there also only between 600-750 rms watts.
Ant B yeah I've heard they can easily take 1200 with proper electrical/Tune
Glad to see this video you said you were going to make!
Hey! Hey! I've been waiting on this video for sure 👍. Love them all.... God bless my dude. I would really , really love to own any of those subs....
Thanks dude!!
The AudioPipe's cone is under the stiff woven cap. That stiff cap helps keep the cone in shape but that curved woven facia is the cap, not the cone.
Skar sounded the cleanest
just bought some skar subs they come in soon let’s hope they sound good
Messin With Sasquatch how did they sound
I’m planning on getting the Skar EVL 12 with the rp1200 or rp1500 amp which amp would be fine to have with stock electrical for starting off?
Messin With Sasquatch whatcha get? Idk if I should get 2 12s or 1 15
You can make any sub sound clean, its all in the box, i had 2 xfl's which would blow the skar evl's away but sounded way better as well in the box i built for them
Parker you NEED to check out the NKI-12 it’s $189 it’s a crazy sub for the price I saw you do the NKO-12 but the NKI-12 is on a whole other level. This is a must I think this would be your favorite sub if you got it. 35mm of X-MAX
At 9:35 how do you cut your subwoofer box bigger once it's already been cutted out previously? I can't find no videos on RUclips on how to do that. Plz help. I like your videos and that Nikon camera 💪😎 can't wait to get my camera for my vlog.. so yeah, how do you cut it bigger?? 🤔
What battery do you used for the back of the car?
I just cut the hole in the box for the sub bigger. And I have a full throttle AGM battery
LevelUpLiving
You can use a jigsaw w/a steady hand or a router with an even steadier hand or a jig to use as a shoulder to guide the router to make your hole bigger. Add a baffle to go smaller..
Eye test comes into play like the coil wrapping on the AB woofer seamed flawless 😎 nice plethora of bumps, brother that AP woofer looks tough af too..nice comparison and testing 🔊🔊🔊🔊
NVX hands down on SQ but for any of the other subs I woulda picked Dark Audio Industries DKI
I picked one up and will be reviewing it soon. However, unfortunately DAI just went out of business :((
Hey appreciate your videos! I actually got an American bass Titan the 3000 w aluminum basket version then the 15 in. It has the 3in voice coil and over 200 oz magnet. I love that Titan is clean musically it sounds nice and tight and really punches some air! I would love to see a video on the Titan line. I already got one of their 12in Titans and they are awesome as well. Running them with the taramps 3000.1 now my system rocks. Thank you!
Very nice video. Been waiting to see the end comparison. I like AB subs as well. Currently running two AB XR 12's on an Orion XTR 2500.1dz and they slam. I have two Soundqubed HDC3 18's and another Xtr 2500 to strap together, with a Orion XTR 750.4 just waiting to go in, but I haven't been had the time or energy to build a box and put it all together yet.
Keep up the work Peter we need more ppl like u in the car audio RUclips scene just a average consumer spending his money to test products and give his opinion on them...u made me a subscriber just off that
Love EVL 12D2 😍
Put a Gravity war zone 12" next to that. I went cheap and figured F it ill at least blow one and see... 6000peak Rockville amp on two g3's(1 step below W.Z's but not their cheapest) 170 a pair and they still slappin' not the greatest on quality but I think with the W.Z's and the right set-up, 💎 in the rough
I'll stick with my AP. hasn't failed me yet🙃💯
Ant B do u have the bdc4 12s
@@southcityexotics6761 I have 2 of them in a horn ported box
@@garrison7547 still workin?
12:13 little buddy was holding on for life. lol...
Good vid Parker, I like Skar subs because it seems to have best of both worlds when it comes to sq and spl. American Bass seems to be your 1st favorite, which is your second ?
Personally the audio pipe would be my 2nd as it dug lower but the EVL was a close third
@@ParkerTheBasshead Thanks bro
12:15 the bug completely unfazed 💀😂
Good comparison video. I think a soundqubed HDS3 would be another one worth comparing with these
I agree!
@@ParkerTheBasshead I promise you will like that sub, soundqubed gets it, I just hit the 150 club with 4 DD 615s no wall 10in aero port no wall with a DM2500. Stoked you did this review.
I agree the audiopipe thermals are week i hade the bd412s and broke one trying to tighten it good work bro
I'm a new subscriber. I love your videos.
Really good to hear!
Very nice assessment.. All are nice subs for the price range.. Dope video!!!
Thanks man!
Your camera microphone win in my opinion!!
You absolutely missed a sub man. The EMF Lowballer. Under 200 and would smoke them all. I think Sean even has them marked down from 199 to 179 right now.
Yeah man there are a ton of great options for under $200. These are just the 4 that I had and people had been asking me to make a video of which one I liked best
@@ParkerTheBasshead Yeah, just thought I'd put it out there, food for thought lol
What's y'alls opinion on the t5 soundstream??
From what I hear Skar Audio is a good brand for not very much money. NVX is a good brand too.
I wish I hadn't been so stupid in my early days and exposed myself to loud music especially powerfull bass - got serious hearing damage now - all my top frequency from 3.5K is gone forever!! never believed it when I was young.
ever heard of a volume knob?? Music doesnt always have to be played at the highest possible volume :/
Lows won’t damage your hearing. It’s the highs that hurt
Idk what massive audio runs for, but I had one, they are another decent subwoofer for the price.
I have 2 massive audio 12's 1000 RMS and paid 179.00 each. There 279.00 on there site. ToroX dual 4's
NVX is made for SQ! So to b still able to hang with those SPL Subs is pretty impresses 👍
I totally agree!!
Definitely not made for real SQ. Just decent sounding daily sub. Real SQ subs sound a lot different this is given that the enclosure is on point with the vehicle acoustics and tuning.
NVX allll day !!! yeeeeeeeeeeeew!
Those EVL’s
I think that a common problem with those.
I have two EVL’s and both have those little dimples.
Do an actual sq test on these woofers. I'll bet those nvx do the best in any environment. As in sealed or vented.
I’ve got American bass thank you and I believe it’s best bang for buck.
You should get a 4k or 5k amplifier
Look at the dyno run figures off that skar rp2000.1d . It's underrated AF! It's pumping out well over 2k rms @1ohm certified. More than enough to run 1 1k rms sub dood
The prices done went up on all of em
Great video Parker, I agree that xfl would be my choice as far as price and quality!
Me too Bros
Really big center caps are good for cooling. The center cap helps cool the sub. Other than blocking dust.
I like all these subs but i like the skars personally bc they kick and havent failed me yet and a new sub id try is american bass
@Jordxn i got the svr's 12 and still running close to a year and im running 2 of them and dont regret at all
@Jordxn im underpowering the subs due to so i wont damage the alternator but im running the skar marine rp 800.1dm its 800 watts rms still sounds strong and will be punching hard
Thanks for everything man your videos help a ton!
I'd like to see a Kicker CVX compared to these considering it's rated at the same power and now around the same price... Just for the haters.
this niqqa said "kicker" AAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH
@@funhaver420 I'm not a nigga but yeah I said Kicker. Their CVX's are solid subs that go hard. Anyone that disagrees has never ran them or is just a hater. I've been running mine at full power for 8 years now and it will probably last at least 8 more. All those other subs are nice too but people still out hear pounding their 20 year old kickers. Not many others can say that. There's a reason recone kits are so easy to find for spl subs but not for kickers. I'm not claiming kicker is the best, I'm not one of these sundown fanboys but anyone that says kicker is trash doesn't know shit about car audio.
Kekker
Kicker is still a great subwoofer.....but back in my day......early 90s....they were top dog and built to last
Well Parker, it’s been a while since I’ve seen your last setup and you have upgraded your sound system a lot, keep on goin man 👍🏻
Awesome review buddy, now do a giveaway!! I thought of it so I get first pick! 😋
Out of these, I only have experience with American Bass xfls and I really liked them.
Ayyye Rittz 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Was waiting to see this comment 😂
Thanks for the info bro!! Badass!!
