Joe you are very correct. They should pay for this sub to be returned and send you another sub. There is no justifiable reason that those subs should be different. I ordered two deaf bonce Avatar Stu 15s at separate times, the first has a very smooth dust cap while the second has a very rough cap like the rest of the cone. They look different and that aggravates me and is the whole reason I am building the new box to run them inverted. GP should definitely take care of that issue for you. They sold you their products that they advertised as one thing and then not only didn’t have the products in stock but they didn’t even try to fix the problem that they created.
You're not wrong It's not even about the money You're essentially paying for their blunder Whoever you purchased from is responsible for making it right.
GP should be liable for the issue. Sundown should have paid shipping both ways to make it right, then go after GP and pull their product because these issues cost sales not only for the supplier but for the brand being sold. 40$ is nothing to Sundown to make it right, and show everyone they are good to work with, but instead it would make me reconsider the brand since they only met half way.
I bought a battery from them a few years back. It cracked during a hard freeze a few months later and lost a cell. They sent me a new one and didn’t ask for the old one back. The battery brand went out of business and they sent me an Odyssey brand- same numbers. Took about a week to receive the new battery.
Also look under the edge of the foam if there shiny like a sanding disk there used rebuilt subwoofers that have been returned, normaly these just lightly sanded and will have black paint on the surround landings not raw aluminum, the reason this is bad is you dont know who had them before you overheated magnets lose there abilities to hold a good magnetic charge and could also cause motor to shift so sub destroys itself
In my opinion, it seems there's at least two errors. First, Sundown needs to identify their products better. Give it a version number, revision letter, whatever. Second, GP did not make sure you got matching items. Obviously you should've got a matching set. As far as how GP managed the situation, they really shouldn't have asked you to pay shipping on anything. Them trying to save $40 is going to cost them a lot more down the line. You're probably not gonna want to buy from them any more and other people are going to hear what happened and they are not likely to buy from them, either. When you have these big companies (GP, D4S, Sky High, Big Jeff, etc...) competing with each other it's the small things that make a difference. Should be GP Audio mistake, I ordered 2 U12's v2 while back, direct from Sundown, because I had a defective salt 3 amplifier, they matched, boxes and all. Still came in a made in China box. Essentially they are all pretty much made in China, just assembled in USA. I have ordered a Sia 3,500 amplifier from GP, I love that amplifier for the price. They shipped it fast, zero issues. It blows the salt away, in my opinion, but I was having issues with the Salt. I would definitely want matching subs. They gave me a good deal after trade in on the salt, I think I paid a little over 400.00 for the u 12's. I woul definitely want them to match, i would have probably taken metal ring, drilled holes if i had to, made it work. I am usually real good at modifications on stuff make it cosmetically match and work. But that is alot of money, I would probably opt for 2 matching subs, if they were willing.
This is almost a 1000 dollar mistake from gp, the other sub isn’t the same as far a soft parts goes. The mods wouldn’t do much at that point, it’s a different sub and it shouldn’t be on the customer to have to go through all that work to try and make them look them somewhat alike from the metal gasket. @StereoMoJo- The deal says free shipping, so Gp should reimburse your $40 you paid out of pocket. Also since you ordered ALL @ once, both woofers should match. The example you gave, talking about if a customer of yours bought (2)- WA-2K amplifiers, ALL @ the same time, & if 1 amp showed up that was the V1, & the other was a V2, you would give them the option of matching either the V1, or V2, & pay for them to ship the other back(first of course), then ship out there matching amp once you received the 1 they didn't want. Since you make so little on your amps, you would probably lose $, & you said you still would, to make it right. That is AWESOME❤️ Now compare that to a Woofer that sells for $699 each @ full retail, & on sale for $599 each, there is probably around $300 profit per woofer being made x 2, so around $600 Total, i think eating $40 in shipping isn't going to make Gp go bankrupt, not to mention it's the right thing to do. Great video, & thanks for sharing✌️
They should take car if you period. GP should send new sub's at the same time and RMA the old ones. I had a problem with a big purple class ab amp. I ordered two which is a Master pack. I only got one, and was horribly packed, bending the mounting fins. Called to get unit replaced and have my other amp sent out. I had a similar experience they would not take the damaged amp without me paying for shipping. Finally they fixed it. But the issue here is that these are small players. They try to find cheapest solution possible. See so many issues with this problem. $40 should not be an issue for either company. GP should make it right but if the units shipped right from Sundown. Sundown and GP need to hash it out between the two of them and you get two fresh sub's. No additional money from you.
you aren't wrong at all..not in any capacity and in fact,I myself would probably be far more upset than you are...I hope it works out for yall, for sure
@stereomojo you're welcome and you certainly were reasonable..also,just like you eluded to,for me personally it's not the money, although important,it's that I simply can NOT deal with mismatched stuff either...so I completely understand and like I already said, you handled it better than I probably would've have a good night and take care
GP definitely should be responsible! I know you said your older subs you have are a couple of years old, are they the same rms rating as the new ones? I’m actually getting ready to do 4 15xv2 in the near future. Bought my subs from D4S over a year ago, on sale and after a discount they were like 450ish a piece.
It would be nice if you have a DATS to run some parameters and see the differences. I cant stand the quality from top to bottom of audio equipment these days. Ive paid for cars for less than what you bought those subs for. Its alot of money. It makes me question being a bass head.
With people being ok with overpaying for car audio, soon none of us will have a hobby. Real bass heads need to unite and stop falling for influencers/marketing. The #1 rule in business is to your own competition. This is why car brands make vehicles under different titles. They drive the pricing up as they compare their own products just to keep you paying what they want you to pay. Build a sub from scratch and tell me how can someone order in volume from China and sell a product at anywhere near that cost. 1 X Sundown x12 from China is like $260 to the public but after meeting MOQ/MIV it's more like $88.00.
Who ever u placed order with is the party responible to me gp audio should have sent atleast 100 bux worth of free stuff plus what u are owed and wheres ur dang bass meter !!
Man is sad to see these situations happening more n more in this hob we all love. I feel this is all on gp...it is there f up..don't hold a package deal if you don't have the product on hand..why did they even send the first sub f they didn't have the second available. Or they shld of spoke to yo and told you about the situation..and said look we got one, but not the other. Do you want to wait or do you want one, then the other..
The only solution or solutions in my opinion is send the correct sub or send a return label and refund me. That's alot of money you spent my 18s wree 1000.00 for the pair at the time. If they didn't match I'd be pissed .
Absolutely! Yes, 1 thing I never discussed with either of them was a full refund and return all of it. Idk how that would’ve gone, but they should both feel fortunate that I never asked for that.
You'll get it figured out . I'm looking forward to the video upload with matching assembled in America subs 😊 Gp is a good company every once in a while we all fumble. Personally I don't dig the way they handled your situation. Pretty awesome sundown is takin care of it. That's the most important part of the story

U been more than fair i think it was how nice ubarebi guess they was thinking ubwould just accept anything and brian kept spinning u in circles with excuses ? Did u even get the spl meter after all of this.
I'm sorry, that's just poor business etiquette. I mean, would you want to buy a pair of 6"×9"s and they look different? It's like you bought it, it's your problem. Also sounds like poor quality control. GP is definitely at fault here. A kid putting these in a prefab box in the trunk of a 1999 Honda Civic probably wouldn't notice or care, but this is a custom build meant to be seen as much as heard.
@stereomojo dude I'm lucky, they're both the same I got the new style with no rubber surround I got them from down4sound. Man you had me thinking about this all day because I only opened one and put them away for when I installed them. Something I won't and shouldn't do

Dang, that sucks about your amps!! Good input, thanks!
you aren't wrong at all..not in any capacity and in fact,I myself would probably be far more upset than you are...I hope it works out for yall, for sure
Thanks Chance! Yeah, I thought I was being very reasonable with them. I know that a lot of folks would’ve been far more upset.
@stereomojo you're welcome and you certainly were reasonable..also,just like you eluded to,for me personally it's not the money, although important,it's that I simply can NOT deal with mismatched stuff either...so I completely understand and like I already said, you handled it better than I probably would've
have a good night and take care
GP definitely should be responsible! I know you said your older subs you have are a couple of years old, are they the same rms rating as the new ones? I’m actually getting ready to do 4 15xv2 in the near future. Bought my subs from D4S over a year ago, on sale and after a discount they were like 450ish a piece.
Yes, they are rated 2k
It would be nice if you have a DATS to run some parameters and see the differences. I cant stand the quality from top to bottom of audio equipment these days. Ive paid for cars for less than what you bought those subs for. Its alot of money. It makes me question being a bass head.
Yeah, that would’ve been cool. I don’t have a dats, but you’re right!
I been asking about the metal ring to everyone I comment on an post that budgetbasshead review of the x12 v3 his has the metal ring.
It's a old sub very old
Man is sad to see these situations happening more n more in this hob we all love.
@@bass321head great comment! I don’t disagree with anything you said!
I'm looking forward to the video upload with matching assembled in America subs 😊
Gp is a good company every once in a while we all fumble. Personally I don't dig the way they handled your situation.
Pretty awesome sundown is takin care of it. That's the most important part of the story
Gp sale, Gp should pay!
Too damn picky.just test them both
For $1200 I’m gonna be super picky!!!!!!
That sucks, ive never had a problem with Down 4 Sound or Crutchfield or Amazon . They should of took that hit not you. Bad business...
Yes, thanks Matt! The smaller guys should be grateful that we’re doing business with them instead of the big boys. You’re right, the big boys would’ve most likely had excellent customer service!
No you wasn't petty you paid what you want that was a lot of money you paid out at good video
Thanks Clifford!!
I will never order from them an advise others not too as well
U been more than fair i think it was how nice ubarebi guess they was thinking ubwould just accept anything and brian kept spinning u in circles with excuses ? Did u even get the spl meter after all of this.
Thanks Josh! Yes, the bass meter eventually arrived.
@stereomojo thats good i hope they didn't charge you shipping on that also
Algorithm comment 👍
Thanks!
I buy from crutch field and this would not happen.
Yeah, Crutchfield knows how to provide excellent customer service!
Absolutely, thanks man!!
The company that u bought it from so that make gp really bad
I agree Tom!
Nope 💯
WDE
@@BigRegDaCommish War Eagle!!
The one with the metal ring is way old old old old not matching and sorry bud those subs are used returns rip off big time .
All im seeing is a whole lotta tears over purely cosmetic issues. Grow up
@@nativesounds6373 cosmetic or not, for $1200 I want them to be cosmetically the same!!!!!!!!!
Same thing happened to me I bought 2 zv.6s and they came in separate shipments I have not checked if they are different I got to check for that
Aw man, let me know if you’re are the same
@stereomojo dude I'm lucky, they're both the same I got the new style with no rubber surround I got them from down4sound. Man you had me thinking about this all day because I only opened one and put them away for when I installed them. Something I won't and shouldn't do
Who ever u placed order with is the party responible to me gp audio should have sent atleast 100 bux worth of free stuff plus what u are owed and wheres ur dang bass meter !!
