Hey man it would be awesome if you could review the quantum audio QRX4001 from what I was told they are very similar to the sound digital evo series.

Back in day when these were new I worked at a stereo shop in Houston. I basically gave my paycheck right back to the owner as I bought a PPI A600.2 and A300.2. I think that both amps together cost about a grand. I had considered buying these kicker amps they seemed to be similar to the Rockford amps of the day but slightly more underrated.

I have this same amp in my van.. works great. not too much power just enough to get the job done

This is the same amp as Trinity Audio 5k, audiopipe 5k, and taramps. They all have the same input/output layout, same control knobs, same size, inputs and fan location. Its all about who puts the name on it at the end.

I bought a zr120 off my friend back in 98 or 99. Ran a pair of old pioneer 10s and it pushed them hard. I later bought a zr240 and newer 10s. Finally I bought a zr360 and 3 - 8 ohm solobaric 10s running at 2.66 ohm load. I also own a zr600. All of them are still working 💪 I'd bet that zr600 would probably do close to 1k on a dyno.

That little 30 watt per channel amp was whoopin some butt! That 600 watt sub was moving! As always, Great Video!!! Ima get that amp from ya when I see it listed!

These came out in 1997 and the XS and ZR were sold at the same time. The XS were the "cheater amp" models with XS50 and XS100. The ZR series could do 1 ohm stereo or 2 ohms mono, but at the time KICKER had some setups with (3) 8 ohm subs for the 2.66 ohm load and the ZR amps actually like this load best. They get really hot at 1 ohm stereo / 2 ohms mono and I absolutely hate the power input terminals (especially the ZR1000 and XS100). They are small and too close to use adapters and those terminals are too small IMO for the current these amps pull. Cool vid, man you are pumping them out! Keep em coming!

I’ve seen you do a recoil amp before. What’s your opinion on the sound quality of recoil? I live in a no sales tax state. I’ve been looking at the di550.4 and the di600.1 for a year now For $86 and $82. Planning on running 2 550.4 for front tweeters and mids on 1 and front mid bass and rear coaxials on the other plus a sundown e12 on the 600.1. With a prv 8 channel dsp. $250 for 3 small amps seems like a good deal if they aren’t trash

The zr1,000 is in my top 10 favorite kicker amps ever made all the zr series amps are beasts.

Nice video, that was pretty good quality amp for back when. It is definitely still useable. A 4 pak 6x9 in 2 ohm stereo in the rear deck of a car would be a good use for an amp of that quality and craftsmanship. Personally, I would prefer to operate as full range no crossover . Put a say single 15" sub in the trunk with the port tubes extended through the rear deck so the cabin area can enjoy the presence of a 15" sub. A couple of pair of 6.5" door speakers on an amplifier of course. LoL, you know me I like that sound. 73, awesome video. GOD bless 73 Earnest K5EWM 👍.

In 98 I bought the zr460 and a solobaric 15 in the prefab sealed box. Now I’m intrigued what that thing made at 12.6 volts. The guy at the audio store called me an idiot for special ordering an 80hz chip to replace the 50hz. Way I saw it was that the deck power speakers couldn’t do anything between 60ish and 100hz so even if I lost a little boom, I gained music, which I why I have a stereo to begin with. Not everyone is spl driven.

The whole point of the crossover chips was to have precise crossover points , also for RCA inputs and outputs on the amp

When you pay all that money for a piece of equipment and the darn thing is still working after decades of abuse, you know it's a quality unit. My old Rockfords are also still working perfectly after twenty five years.

That terminal probably didn't have a tight connection and got hot enough to melt the solder holding it to the board and the wire tension pulled it. Once the amp turned off and cooled down, the solder solidified. If you put some heat in that area from a hot air station, you could probably get it straightened.

Obvious reasons aside, I really have enjoyed the Wednesday videos. 😂 Seeing the new amps dyno-ed is cool, but it’s nice to see some old skool in the mix as well. Keep up the good work!

Aweesome, love these old school tests! The Jensen A-200 was from 88/89 and original MSRP was $200. Many of the budget amps at this time were made in Korea and you'll see other amps such as Audiovox, Majestic, Sherwood, Alphasonik and others that incorporated the single sided circuit board with all the through the hole components (and lots of physical wiring). It's impressive to me this thing not only still works, but survived the Amp Dyno Tests!

Most companies earlier amplifiers were made to compete with other companies using quality parts, and were very well built, before inflated power ratings was a thing. Even Pyramid, Power Acoustics, and believe it or not Majestic.

I’ve had this amp for a couple years now. I love it! Only downside is. The cable that connects to the control knob broke and trying to find a replacement cable for it.

Is the amp 1ohm STABLE?? I cant find that answer ANYWHERE. Or will it get hot and shut down over and over and over???

To be fair it is a class a/b amp. I use to run a Kenwood 921 that was 75 watts x2 at 4 ohm and 100 x 2 @ 2ohm 200 watts bridged, and ran 2 15 in gold letter kicker comps, and they slammed. That's why it couldn't take that 1 ohm load, because I've yet to see a class d amp not handle a 1 ohm load

Especially the last year(or longer) he has reviewed super cheep new amps,or something on his old school shelf! When you hook that up to subs wired at 2 ohm the amp, automatically knows it’s wired for 2 ohm correct
