I really miss when good stuff was mas made in my great state of Arizona orion ppi rockford diamond audio etc
But do you miss paying 2-3 dollars per watt?
😎🙌💪👍
@@wal try buying a decent sub amp for home audio use its like 5 dollars per watt STILL in 2020
unless you do it diy that is comes down to around a few cents per watt for the amp board then you need a case then a transfomer then a heatsink
How can you miss stuff you still can get . I have 90s or older Sanyo , Orion and zapco amps and a 06 jl slash along with 2 ppi equalizers from the 90s . All works . One Orion was brand new from 96 i got a year ago
No one wants to work anymore in america, they want to be tik tok youtube famous.
They come to work but dont want to do anything..
there should be a competition, separate category for old school car competition. Much like a vintage car show.
That's be awesome.a class for old school.but where to cut the year off? Any thoughts....pre 98?99?
The cut off age should be stereo equipment 20 year old and older.
To me old school ended when they quit making them in the USA . People seem to think their class d amps are old school . There weren't many class d amps in the 90s
Damn, this brings back memories. I loved installs back in the day. Whatever happened to clean installs and systems? All I see anymore at comps and meets are unfinished boxes, glue, foam, paint and wires everywhere.
+Siryn I agree. Very few are clean these days.
There’s a young kid on you tube named Jacob and he showcases installs. He so enthusiastic about installs it’s cool but almost everything he shoots looks like garbage and the vehicles look like they’re about to fall apart. I miss when people took pride in their systems appearance.
I love looking back at the old school installs. Thanks for the memories.
The box that rocks! Loved those things. Man this channel bring backs my youth. From 1991-2002 car audio was my life. Won many many competitions. Won my region in IASCA pro 301-600 every year for maybe 7 straight years. Rockford, us amps, mtx, JL audio, linear power, eclipse, pioneer super tuner head units! I lived a breathed all this old school stuff. Love this channel big D my spl vehicle in 1999 was a 1984 Chevy Astro van with 12 mtx black gold 15’s and 6 crunch 600’s. Only competed spl that year. Honestly didn’t do so good. 157’s was all I consistently got. My sound q vehicle changed every year. Since I was dealer all my equipment was free or heavily discounted, so in the off season I did a new install every year. My favorite sound q vehicle I ever did was for 1999 world finals. Eclipse 5303 head unit. MB quart 3 way component up front. 8’s in doors, 6.5 and tweeters in kick panels. Single solobaric 12, the first year of square ones, and 2 USA-300 from us amps. Placed 6th that year at finals. One place away from being on stage.
Very cool love those installs they really bring back memories.
Loved Linear Power. My first car amps and they sounded great.
All I can say is."No School Like Old School". 👍
+Scott Miller dang and I forgot to add that clip 🤷♂️
BigDWiz lol
@@wal you kinda sound like Danny McBride in the movie, "Pineapple Express." How he says old school at least.
Makes me wish I took more pics back in the day. Bieng a teen in the mid 90's was the golden age of car audio. JL audio, Orion, pioneer, eclipse, alpine. Soundstrean, Lanzar, PPI, Cerwin Vega, and Pyle drivers, LOL! I can't name them all.
God I wish I could go back to those days and make better choices in life in general, but it was a good time.
I do have one video on my channel showing some old school Orion xtr subs I blew and replaced with kicker CVX'S, which are awesome. The kicker CVX is the same as the square kicker solobaric L7. Same voice coil, and motor, just round instead of square, and they slam with better clarity, but a bit less output than the square design.
Thanks for the old school video, I enjoyed it. This really took me back and made me reminisce.
Memories... thanks for taking me back! I wish I kept some of my goodies from back then.
I love those Rockford power series in the beginning!! Friend had two 12’s in a crx and that shit was so loud!! It was what got me into bass at 14 years old😍. Those 2 15” solo barics were bad ass too!! Had two of them in a 93 integra. LOUD!!!
This is still one of my favorite videos from you, good job, I keep watching it cuz I've actually seen and heard a couple of those systems role through Florida.
I was waiting to see some MTX subs in here. Thanks for the video. It's really dope brings back memory's.
Nice. Love the old school stuff. I Was happy to see those Orion amps at the end there. I'm totally going to dig out some gold to submit. I have some good ones.
Some of these installs blow my mind! So fresh, so clean!
+9Nails I agree. Will have some even more killer ones in the next installment next month
Thanks for the video. Brings back some great memories.
+jmrtinez69 thank you for watching and commenting 👍
Beautiful installs.
BigDWiz You do a great job and I really enjoy your videos. Brings back so many good memories.
+Big Wes thanks bro! I really enjoy making the vids, glad you guys like watching them 👍
I wish I would've had some pictures of a couple of my old school installs. I had an 89 Beretta with two Image Dynamics 15s on two 1500 watt amps with two 5 farad caps and two gel cell batteries. I blew out my rear windshield in front of my high school and got suspended. Then I had two JL Audio W-0 15s on two Kenwood 1000 watt amps with a Sony Xplod tape deck and Sony 10 disc CD changer and MB Quart 5x7 split sets in the doors. I had 4 of the round Kicker Solobaric 10s on a Soundstream Reference 1000x4 amp in my Integra. I have always been a basshead.
I love you videos Big D! You are really good at this man!
+Alpha Omega thanks for watching and commenting 👍
Great vid.👍. Takes me back. Good to see. I actually forgot about some of those subs.
Awesome old memories!
Incredible...Memory Lane indeed. ...when products were BUILT IN THE USA! Miss 'dem days.
That was fun. Cool vid man.
I miss 90s car audio! I just don't know what's happened. I've been through tons of modern stuff and I'm almost never happy with it. Time to pony up an do my own old school build
I LOVE IT! Install from back when I was young!
Love the old school installs.... takes me back to my youth
I love them too. Bout time for another round!
Just saw this and damn. I had a pullout cassette deck and some super blue 12”s on a Sherwood amp. Man I haven’t thought about that in so long. Nice work BigD
Beautiful installs! Awesome video!
Fun video to watch. Thank you for the trip down memory lane!
+Matthew Hussey thanks for watching and commenting!
Thanks man for the oldschool vid , i just recently found my old school car audio magazine's from the 90's, i have a box full and man i almost cried when i opened one , that's a real bass head who ordered those mags back then.
Oh yeah! At least you kept your's! Mine were tossed during a move back around 2002 and I've spent the past 5 years getting them back, lol
Same here tossed my mags years back and kick myself in the ass everyday for it,I bought I think 3 a month for years
I love all your videos everything you talk about thank you
Thanks brother 👌
Great video like always BigDwiz
+John Enzweiler awesome installs brother 👀
I've been rockin those image dynamics horns for almost 20 years..
That Pioneer DEH-P8000 was the shiznit! My dad had one that looked exactly like that, but I think it was a Premier version, It had the bass octaver thingy....memories....
Cool installs!
+Reggie Reginato I agree 😬
Best subs on here, 15” power series @ 7:00. Had a set running 2 punch 200ix, best sounding system I’ve ever owned!
Oh hell yes the old school kicker solos those things bumped hard.
Wow Iove those old solobarics
Awesome kick ass vid 👌
Definately brings back memories ..
Really going to make some videos and pictures of my oldschool phoenix gold instal! Love this upload thanks!!
+Daan kuyper awesome! I know I missed some cool installs, but I'll show them next time
BigDWiz Looking forward to it! 👍👌 thanks.
Needed to upload some stuff anyway.
Loving all this oldschool goodness!!!!
+Steve Young thanks for watching and commenting

No login necessary. Make sure they are old school car audio installs. I don't need pictures of amps and speakers themselves, they need to be installed with style in a vehicle. Thanks!
Brings me back , 1998 my dad had a sony mobile es deck , 5.25 mb quart components , alpine DD drive 6x9s all powered by an old school Rockford PUNCH400x4 . Sounded amazing the deck had MD mini disk control input . The amp was a weird gray and gold color
Love it, makes me feel young
Great Sytems! Thanks BigDWiz i love your Videos!!
+Siegfried Walther thank you sir!
Remember Image Dynamics fondly with the under dash horn installs. Memory lane stuff.
Niioooce those old punch amps were the shit back in the day along with precision audio. Those old strokers maaaan 👌👌👌👌
Awesome video Big D
+southernoverdrive09 thanks for watching and commenting 😬
love those cerwin strokers, damn! i have two myself :D
Maaan those system is what paved the way for the new school stuff.
You know it 🤙
A/D/S !!! best mids and tweeds I ever owned. They were so loud and clear.
+Steve Goelzer I could never afford those back in the day, but drooled over them
I was lucky got them for $45 new in the box at a pawnshop in Arlington TX back in 1999. Ever since then I have been looking for another set of tweets that could compare. Would you have any suggestions? The A/D/S set
must have been at least 1" of soft dome + shell. They nearly fit into stock 3 1/2" dash mounts.
Old school audio in a 90's mini truck, doesn't get much more old school cool than that!!
+volvo09 agreed!
Ahhh man awesome 😎😎😎 just made my week with this video , here in Oz back then I had two marathon 12s with alpine streetwise headunit with 3 alpine amps running the system! That was the one that got me hooked on audio amongst other parts of the car lol like carby blow through turbos and shit hahahaha 👍😆 I'm 47 and my daily has the biggest system I've had to date 🤣💪🤟 we never turn down NO! CHEERS
Awesome Video Dereck!~
+ListeNtiLLiThZ thank you sir Curtis 👌

Love That Old School Bass Patrol🤘
Boom 💥
Love this video
Love this vid.. thanks bigD
Nice old school for the win !!
Great video as usual big D. I wish I had finished my blazer so I could be a part of the next video, but winter is just around the corner and the truck will be going to storage. Maybe next season.
I gotta find some of my pics from the, PJ'S Auto Sound days, and then when we turned into Elite Custom Sound and Security. Youngstown, OH.. Drew Williams taught me so much. We had the Cement box lumina in the CAE, I cant remember the year or month...Dam I'm old!!!
I really wish car audio could make another comeback I love these installs and equipment. Ppi Rockford Orion eclipse head units Jl audio subs and mb quart speakers those were the days even mtx
Not car audio in general because its booming,American made car audio needs a comeback
I think we may see a resurgence with events like RADwood but OEMs learned from this era and incorporated the best designs into factory systems negating the need for upgrades. We now have amazing factory speaker placement, multi-channel outboard amps, time alignment, crossovers, and integration with devices we didn't even know were possible in 1995. I was about to rip out the stereo in my 2015 Wrangler until I realized it just needed a better head unit. Alpine already gave me a 45 watt x 12 amp in the dash with EQ and some amazing sounding speakers. Obviously a single subwoofer with 4 voice coils getting only 180 watts isn't anything to write home about, but I value my cargo space too much these days. However, for the 1985 Toyota MR2 we picked up a few years ago, I'm piecing together a nice vintage setup that should turn heads and bring back memories at car shows.
My first system was all new old stock parts in my first car, a Honda Civic. MB Quart 100 x 4 amp, 6 1/4"Jamo factory speakers w/ fiberglass cones, and Jamo 1" soft dome tweeters. Each driver was only 5 bucks, so I bought two tweeters per woofer and made a bridge out of duct tape and epoxy above each woofer to hold the two tweeters like some crazy dual coaxial shit. No crossover on the woofers, running em' full range, with the tweeters using a 1st order at 5k. It actually rocked hard and sounded great. At some point I even took my circa 2002 12" MTX home theater sub and put it in my trunk running on an inverter. So loud in the back seat it gave my friends headaches hahaha. Those were the days. My system sounds much better now and is cleaner, but nothing like those old bootlegin sound days.
BigD. Add usual. Another great video. Thanks man. You just made my day a whole lot better. You da man!
Kelly I think it is. With the Scanspeak/ID/Soundstream stealth setup. That dude is truly living the dream! That is my dream setup. I didn't know this till now. But me likey. If I ever have enough cash. To get to that level. I'm doing something very similar. I love the stealth. And of course the Old Schoooooooool!
Oh and that amp going across the whole back seat/floor is too cool for any school, but old school.
+Andrew Balus awesome, glad you enjoyed the video. I had a lot of fun making the video and reminiscing of the old days 🤙
BigDWiz I bet you did. How could you not really? You're living the dream too BigD. I hope you don't take that lightly, like many do.
Despite our problems, which I think are miniscule compared to how it has been in the past, this is truly a great time to be living in the USA. I think people just need to realize this, and embrace what we have. Revel in the old school, but take advantage of the new school opportunities that we have. Like you seem to be doing.
That's part of why I love your channel so much. You love the old stuff, and celebrate it. But you don't *live* in the past. And you keep an open mind on new audio gear too. I do this myself also, and have an assortment of both new and old gear for my home and car setups. Keep up the awesome work BigD. You're doing great.
I know that pink mini truck.....I've always wanted to hear it in person! Lol good work on the vid! Keep it up!
+hookhousebeatz it was in a few mags back in the 90's. Called "Fantastic Voyage"
BigDWiz seemed like I remember it being at a local shop...always on display but would never turn it on lol
Awesome video.
+MeatPopsycle thanks, I had the easy part...just putting it together 😬
Hey Big-D just wanna give a shout out and say I appreciate everything you’re doing from Albuquerque New Mexico!!👍👍👌👌🔊🔊🇺🇸🇺🇸
+leonsam12 thx bro 🤘
Wow good old days!!!
I really like the fake factory unit plate on the focus. I've been wanting to make something like that for a while now
+ranchosdelnorte it was on the Monte Carlo, but yeah, pretty slick 👍
Love this video.......thanks
+John Furious thanks for watching and commenting
NICE OLD SCHOOL AUDIO 👍
👌😎👍
Keep posting. Love these
Will do. Our Spring OSS Meet is coming up, so i should have a lot more content
AWESOME Video!
+mywifefarts thanks. I bet your wife doesn't approve of your YT name 😜
I had 2 of the punch power series subs in 1995. Still to this day the best sounding and hardest hitting subs.
Nice video
Dang it Big D...you're making me realize my age bro! LOL! Man I miss those days. Sometimes I still prefer the look of leather/vinyl over the flashy painted fiberglass. It has it's place too, but i just don't like it on everything. That setup by Kelly Wilson is sweet! I like that plain ole look. Sure do wish I had some of those old skool Blue Thunders or some Terminators. I don't even wanna think about the time I sold my 12" punch audiophiles. I know that CDs are way better than cassettes, but I still kinda miss the unique sound of cassettes on a good head unit or any good cassette player. Boy, boy, boy...the sweet sound of the old skool stuff! Thanks for the video!
+bkrgls fun times for sure 😎
I had just turned 19 and bought a mint Hifonics Colossus VIII. Man time passes quickly.
You're the best Big D!!!!
Just submitted 2 pics of the install I did 20+ years ago on my uncles Jeep CJ7 it had 2 10”mtx 2 12” Kickers and 2 15” Rockfords
love those old soundstream reference amps
+Wade Hensley me too! Drooled over those back in the day
Dude the timing on your video couldn't have been at a better time. After 23 years I am putting together another old skool system. I am trying my best to get my 4, 18" Volcanoes back from a friend and I don't have the money for old skool big amps (I want two series VIII Colossus) so I'm probably going to end up with a couple new class D's. I've got some mint Sony amps, eq and a minidisc player ready to go in, all from around '92-'94 I watch most all of your vids and I will be sending you some pics when I can!!
+SONY BOY awesome 👍
BigDWiz sent you an email. I hope it came through ok.
Oh, I also had a US Amps 125x4 that was quarter ohm stable. It was anodized red with the plexiglas bottom. It was a badass amp.
Love the video!
Man this video brought back some good and not so good memories! The Tundra with the C.V. strokers in it mainly did it. Highschool saved up for the entire time there got a Toyota mini truck with a snugtop on it and I shoved 4 18" strokers in the bed with a full cut through. Brought it to a shop that no longer exists so the name is not important, to get it dialed in and few little things I wasnt sure if i did correctly or not. Short story long when I came to pick up my truck few days later, I was informed that there was a break in and a bunch of their inventory was missing along with my truck! The entire truck! It was never recovered and they never found who did it either. The shop was blamed but never charged with anything because of course it looked rather fishy that only a few things of theirs were gone and my truck and same night they had an issue with the cameras there.....my insurance covered the truck and only the truck but the shop owner, who didn't have any insurance by the way, he gave me a grand cash few weeks later. So I wasn't sure if that was him being actually sorry or just a way to make it seem like he wasnt involved. Never found out what actually happened but the moral of my telling this story is if you have a system that costs ten times what you paid for the vehicle it is in, insure it!!!! Peace of mind, a paper trail that stands up in court if you were to find yourself there for whatever reason, and you just never know who is actually good people or not unfortunately. The saddest thing of all was I never got to actually listen to it due to I didn't install the main fuses until I had the "professionals" look it over to be sure it wouldn't self destruct once I did install them. Ain't that some shit. I hope whoever ended up with all my stuff enjoyed it as much as I imagine I would have!! Motherf@€[{£rs!!
I can relate. Somebody decided that they wanted my car more than I did. Only rode for one night. Recovered my car on blocks so rims, grill, subwoofers. Gone! A big middle finger from me as well
Funny that this video shows in my feed. That's my brothers Stealth install Monte Carlo @7:27. And for anyone wondering, those Soundstreams are still fine.
I miss those days, when things were simple & badass!
Yeah but I wouldn’t say they were better
Awesome!!!
+DA BEARDSMEN 🤙
This sums up high school for me and my 89’ 5.0 mustang GT. And my buddies ranger mini truck dropped to the ground. He ran kicker solos and I ran Rockford punch 200x2s on punch 12s and PPI art series amps on the mids and highs.
This brings me back to the days when Mike Mineo first used a center channel setup.....would love to see that type of setup in a newer vehicle.
Al Lee's door speaker install reminds me of some of my work back in day . LOL
😜👍
Awesome dude awesome
Thanks for watching and commenting 👍
Old school will never die. $7k system in my $2k 1985 civic
👌😬👍
