Just a reminder that Hifonics went out of business around 2000. The name was purchased by Maxxsonics in 2001. So it's not the well known, high quality brand we remember. Nowadays it's the Hifonics name on generic audio gear. The current quality is hit and miss. Certain model amps and subs are pretty well-built, while others are not.
So many brands have either been sold off or have been cheaping out over the years, it's sad 😔 Milwaukee, Craftsman, Hifonics, and I think Audiobahn is made in Mexico now. It's sad.
What you guys considered hi-end quality (where it is made) Korea is a very cheap country also and all y’all do is brag on their amps/ and if it’s made in America (it’s really made in china ) truth be told.. everything comes out of china as far parts ..so what’s the big deal !!! I understand a lot of stuff is really made cheap .. just like you guys hate on Brazilian amps .. (deaf Bounce uses Brazilian boards,China Boards & China Boards)
I bought two of the 15s about over a year ago, and i love em. Pushing them with a B2 Audio 7900 dialed down. I have nothing bad to say about this subs. Keep up the good work! Awesome videos!
You're not alone on that boat. I inadvertently attached the power cable onto the wrong terminals on an amp once. It smoked without even trying to power it on. 😅 This boat carries many passengers. 😂
I would take that little metal latch to a fabrication shop and have them weld some additional bracing to it so it would be impossible for it to bend in the future. 👍
Mistakes are just a part of the human experience 👍 I've made some errors in my bass journey as well 😆 A few months ago I punctured the surround on one of my 15s and almost cried 😆 You live, you learn brother 👍 Thanks for the videos 🔊🔊
You're exactly right there has been a lot of people that's done the same thing you have and I know I have one time getting in a rush you will make mistakes
Hell yeah my dad has a BRX2000.1D amplifier in his suv and its amazing. It was my amplifier I gave him for Christmas. Now about that subwoofer is amazing he has the newer 15" NVX VCW v3 subwoofer thats amazing sounding in sealed subwoofer boxes.
Good job letting us know about the little mistake Parker! You're a humble guy and I'm glad to see you doing so well on your channel! I know you work your balls off & I'm glad it's starting to pay off. I always watch every one of your videos! They're awesome!
Ive been going back in your older videos & its funny how that trunk of yours keeps giving you fits! 😂 But accidents happen to by the way buddy. Sorry bout the sub. 🤘🏻
@@jermainephillips5179 Lanzar used a 4 spoke basket years ago, and DC used a 6 spoke on 18" but not this tooling. These are newer tooled designs used over the past few years.
and yea i feel your pain for the trunk not opening :( ... my little sound car i call it, "cobalt" i used to be able to push the " Trunk open button" to open but now that dont work, and also when i use my trunk its rough getting the key to turn now... i figure cause to much Banging :( and bumping lol also my trunk lid is a full 3 inches to the right so theres a big 2 inch gap on the left side lol love the content parker as always much love from Flint Mi
Hey a little tip with you rear hatch my blazer did the same thing and i tied a peace of spiderwire fishing line 80lb test to the lever and ran it up the hatch so if it messed up i could just pull the fishing string and it would open.
The test wasn't how you do the other test cuz you had the speaker just pretty much inverted in the box. So it had the pressure from the box so essentially it was in the Box just inverted even though no screws in it but it still creates that pressure and that doesn't make the test is valid, that being said it's still lasted to 6 minutes at the RMS wattage which was impressive
I run 2 of these at around 1,400 rms daily and never had a problem with them. They are very good for the price and they get down. Nothing but pleased with them
I just hooked speakers to my 4 channel and mixed up the front left and rights to the amp connections❗☹️ and I even had it wrote down right in front of me, I have color coded heat shrink and still messed it up ❗
Check check and check again, and we all still mess up. I really appreciate that you showed the mess up. You got my Sub bro. I helped my buddy fix his hatch lever release. It just breaks over time. He doesn't have a system.
That’s a problem with all sequoias. I tried fixing mine 5/6 times. The handle always breaks. I tried reinforcing the piece that broke on yours. But the rivet that goes through broke next. Every body ends up just making a whole on the bottom of the hatch and running the cable through it.
I had my trunk latch fail on me once, it was at a car show and could display my setup. And ended up having to cut into the tailgate to get it opened and fixed. Now I have a secret wire to open in emergencies. Has saved me many times
The 2001-2007 Toyota sequoias have a VERY VERY common problem with the rear hatch. They don’t open on all the cars. So to fix this you need to go online and buy the bypass kit. Look it up on RUclips. It’s a simple peace that you install and makes it so you can open your door every time. And lock it. Hope this helps
Thanks bro. I had the Brutus 12 from 2000s and it had kevlar woofer and hit real nice. Just had funky blue lights under the woofer. But same price as the ones today
Go ahead and give Hifonics their flowers , but I’m not gonna lie when you showed the clip of you putting the fan in the truck I was upset but now knowing the potential of the subs I have a plan
Wow. Just found your page and this video after watching the small amp Vs big sub video.. and gotta say.. mad props to you for showing us the mistake!! 🎉very cool info and def a new fan! Thanks 🎉
I have the 15 inch duel 4. Great sub sounds great even in prefab box! The terminals will fit 8 gage awg and the Ferrell no problems. Those 12 inch subs are the same terminals
I'm not sure if this will work but you can try this. Use some J-B weld to stiffen up that piece of metal to keep your back door from being broken and having to replace the whole latch again!
Parker, route your back hatch cable so you can pull it with the panel on. Or add something to it so it can pull it so you dont have to keep doing that.
I'm pretty happy with my single 10" JL that came in a box from the store and I'm pushing it with an old second hand Alpine monoblock 500 something in my dodge dakota pickup.
I always use mechanic gloves. The moment I take it off for something and do by hand it gets nicked on something. But it keeps my hands clean, protected, and prevents current pending the type you wear.
Looking like the Rockville Punisher edged it out at a similar price. My buddy ran a Hifonics on an 18" Fi in a Camaro back in the day and it got stupid low and loud.
Those things happen. I took my sweet time hooking up my 4 channel and monoblock. Because Orion XTR750.4 has the pos & ground reversed from what everyone else does for the most part. I made the mistake of having them switched. Went thru quite a few 40amo fuses till I found the problem. Had thought my bus bar was the problem as the positive and ground are on the same bar, just separated by a little bit of plastic, but nope. I felr pretty noobish. But in fairless, I waited till my daughter became a teenager before purchasing another system. That's 13 years from when I was in competitions and custom installing systems for all my friends and their friends and so on.
They say that Toro is the best bang for your buck, I'd have to hear them in person though, and see how their customers service is, but hey, can't be any worse than JL audio, have 5 10w0's and they dont make the surrounds for them any more and it's because of them inferior grills that collected moisture from NY winters and it destroyed them over time. I have a triple stack of 12in punches, maybe one day I'll put new surrounds on them, but for now they sit in the garage with my big ass kicker L7 box that was to big to put in with my quad 6/9 box and a chachero box, only paid $100 bucks, so no loss
Reverse wiring subwoofer coils is easy to do, especially since some manufacturers mislabel their own leads if they label them at all. Wired in reverse means the coils fight against each other with no movement for cooling. Almost zero sound will come from the sub and if you turn it up, you can easily overheat the coil glue. We’ve all done it at least once lol keep banging! 🔊
I inverted my subwoofers and my subwoofer wires are reverse. I think what he did is put positive and negative on one coil then on the other coil reversed the wiring so he probably wire negative on positive positive on negative. Then the other side of his subwoofer positive on positive and negative correctly. Just remember when you invert a subwoofer you reverse every wire not just half the wired. So if anyone is actually reading this and wires positive in one coil and negative on the other coil just make sure you do the same on your other side of your subwoofer if your parallel wiring.
Hey Parker I absolutely love your videos you have taught me a lot and have saved me from many bad purchases I’ve been wanting to get a CT sounds OZONE subwoofer and I was wondering if you could test one out because no one on RUclips has really tried them
I would tie a pull string from the latch out the panel and leave it dangling in the trunk interior so atleast you don’t have to tear it all apart while being locked out
HiFonics went downhill when they went away from the Zed Audio and went to Maxxsonics. Having said that, generally speaking, HiFonics is hit or miss depending on which line you choose. Typically, their Brutus line is decent while their Zeus line is lower quality.
