Basshead Family!! I’m so sorry I haven’t been getting video’s out every week. A lot going on right now but I will do my best to get back on tract asap. Thank you so much for your support 💪🏼🔊
Yessir! Great video, by the way!
No pressure, just glad you're back. Great vid! 👍🏻
Parker, all good my brother. It’s called life. We appreciate you regardless. Thanks for the post bro 👊🏽
Hey @Parker I need a cvx 15 d2 bro😅
Praying for you bro that everything is alright
Rockville is like a time machine that imports flea market equipment from the 90s into today. Amazing technology if you ask me!
Running their 12" k9 and the thing bumps hard. Have a feeling you haven't tried their products.
Guys, i have been fucking around with car audio since like 1994... The bottom line is, if u want to be happy with your setup, just set yourself a budget, stick to it, and save up for some quality gear. I realize that we all have to start somewhere...but you are not going to be happy with a setup like this. Its money that could have been spent on something a little more high quality. Thanks for another vid, PTBH. Appreciate you. ❤
100%!! I started out way back with a couple MTX 10" factory (hatchback)box and a Majestic 500 watt amp... Toss it on the backseat of my '76 Nova and pissed off the neighbors on a daily 😂😂
Yep, I’ve been into car audio since ‘93 and have made my fair share of bad equipped decisions. You are 100% correct. Save money, have patience, and spend just a little more for better equipment.
@barnes29510 Haha! Bro...I had a 1982 Chevy Citation...which had a fucking VERTICAL head unit from the factory! You literally had to turn your head 90 degrees to see it properly. So I mounted an Alpine under the dash, had Pyramid door speakers, a Pyramid Pro amp, and 2 MTX 12" in the hatchback. I also put a Radio Shack alarm on this $600 car, and had red neon lights on the interior. And I lost my virginity on the hood of that car in a gravel pit we snuck into to party. LOL!! The frickin good old days.
I started in 1990 with Kraco
Pyramid and Pioneer. I agree with this public service announcement message 👍
@barnes29510 I had some 8 inch MTX Blue Thunders back in the day lol
I bet you could get more base out of a good 6x9 with a decent amp.
The JBL GTO 3 way "6×9" is a prime example 👌
I installed a pair of Cerwin Vega 6X9s in the back of my 1991 Chevy Cavalier coupe and hooked up to a Zed Audio HiFonics amp in the late 90’s. People swore up and down that I had a pair of 10” subs in the trunk. I lost count how many times I had to pop the trunk to prove to them that it was all coming from the 6X9s!!
@@91CavGT5 That sounds like a good starter combo and I bet it sounded better and louder than that crapville 10" sub.
@@SirPhukWad Yep!
Ya know for $119 you really can't go wrong. It's a great introduction to the bass world. The quality may not be there compared to what is on the market today, but remember the price you're paying.
Exactly. Throw this in the backseat of your beater Ford Taurus or Saturn and you'd have a happy kid.
Over 100 watts at 7 ohm it's actually not that bad for a cheap amp, on a resistive load at 4 ohm it might very well get to the 175w they claim on the website, if at least they made a honest advertising.
2 days and 14K views.. Parker The Bass Head is always killing it. Keep the videos coming my friend.
So, how many of y'all remember going to the flea market and seeing those cheap amps and subs? My very first "system" was a Blaupunkt 12" woofer in a truck box with a Kenwood bass booster, but it didn't sound horrible because I had a Sony Xplod tape deck with a Sony 10-disc CD changer with MB Quart split set mids and highs in my 90 Ford Festiva. My next system was two Orion Cobalt 10s with a Sony 2 channel 600 watt amp in my 89 Chevy Beretta GT. Then I had two JL Audio 15s on two Kenwood 600 watt amps in my 94 Eddie Bauer Explorer...and the list goes on. Right now I have two Sundown SA12-D2 subs with a Sundown SAI-1750D amp in my 13 BMW 135i. I have had a system in almost every one of my 76 vehicles that I've owned and I'm 41 now.
Blaupunkt never was that bad. They reminded me of Fosgate subs from the 90s. Not explosively loud, but solid enough to listen to. The difference is Blaupunkt were and still are affordable. But I don't know if they are any good nowadays. Last time I personally used Blaupunkt was in 1992 or 93.
I’ve bought Rockville products before and I will say that the little plastic covers become heat shrink at least the ones on the battery terminal in the engine bay after a few days of running it. Basically melts but still effective 👍
I had the tube version it was a absolute waste of money but it did inspire me to get completely addicted to bass again so all’s fair
The sub doesn't last. I bought this setup years ago. Amp still works. Box is too small to be ported. It sounds better if you plug the port.
On a positive note, the amp shouldnt overheat or blow the sub 😁.
Haha that is a good point
unless you turn it to the max and clip the hell out of it
Kind of like a built-in warranty
do the mtx full setup combo
I have a rockville build ATM. It is a good setup. Not sure what is going on with that stuff you got there. But thanks for the video PTBH. Hope things get better so you can make more videos. 👍
thats the average kinda power and sub most kids had back in tha day late 80's early 90's how do i know? because i was there!🤘
you don't need more if you care about your hearing
Yes, you can have way more sound quality! It costs more to have quality sound. I've been into loud, car audio for over 35 years now, and my hearing is fine. The trick is short time intervals, and limited screeching high freq., listening. It's the high freq., that are the most damaging, to hearing. I have had 8- 18" subwoofers, that played down to 15Hz with great output, and no problems. But like i said, moderation, and no screeching horn tweeters, for too long, is the key!
What?
😂
@@StupidEarthlings huh? 🤔
It's weird because Rockville has a reputation for quality products.
Just kidding...
You got me.. 😂
@@Bassotronics👍
AYOOO what u doing here SUBASSOTRONICS@@Bassotronics
Needs more gain
😂😂😂😂😂😂
For what it is, it’s not a bad budget banger product for the average entry level sub. Especially if someone is keeping stock speakers and just want to add some depth!
I'd suggest that someone would probably be happier with saving up around 100 bucks for the sub and 150-200 for amp and a box. Going too cheap on equipment is just a waste of money.
Do the homework, watch reviews and save up a bit more than just one paycheck. It can be done and you'll be happier for it 👍🔊🔊
I agree, i buy a lot of second hand stuff and its just better, if you go into facebook marketplace sometimes people just want to get rid of things and if you throw offers most of the times youll get a really good deal, i once got a complete bose factory sound system from a 2007 corvette for $80 and resold it for $320 on ebay, ive seen lots of used subs in good condition for cheap, which i find a lot better than buying a cheap brand new one
Give us some more SOUNDSTREAM reviews please!!
I’ve got two Rockville punisher 12s that I have not been able to blow. Push them with a taramps bass 3k on a 96AH lifepo bank. Clip the amp hard and the only ever get warm.
I like rockvilles amps. I've had three different ones and every one of them has been really good for the price point. I'm currently running a rockville krypton m5 and it's been great so far.
Thank you for doing this video, i was thinking about getting a Rockville set up like this. Your video has changed my mind. They might be good for some folks, but i am going to spend a little more money and get something a little bit better. Thanks again for the time you spent making this video. You just saved me some money.
There entry level stuff like this suck as would any complete system for $120. The K9 and up are some of the best budget subs. But like anything it's gonna come down to what box you put them in.😊
Can u do a $300 budget for deaf bouse subs and the avatar c which bumps more for that price
Just went through a return with Rockville. It took almost the whole 90 days lol.
Don't forget about that D4S difference
I might have to get one of these subs for home theater on my shelf system
The amp guts look EXACTLY like the ol Sony Xplod amps.
Yea except Sony actually put out alil power lol
Thanks for the info every time you kill it!
Hey parker, love your videos. I would like to see the resilient sounds gold v2 subs reviewed
Cool video! Would be cool to see what you could do with the same amount spent on this, but looking for equipment second hand like Facebook Market etc and compare what you were able to find.
I made a video of a pioneer just some days ago, at USB it clipped at 55, clean on 54, was also going up to 62, but with insane clipping.
Funny seeing this video reminds me of when I first started. Had a couple kickers on a Rockville 2800 then went to skars sdr 12s. Gotta start somewhere, with that being said lol save some extra cash and get the slightly better stuff. You want quality over a couple extra bucks. Much love, good video brother.
I gave it some thought about not having enough voltage from the RCA connectors from the head unit to drive that amp. What you can try is using the speaker output wires from the head unit to the low level (RCA) inputs to the amp. That should be more than enough to drive that amp to full power, adjust the gain control on the amp to reduce any distortion.
Hi @ParkerTheBasshead, love your videos. You may have that wattage meter hooked up incorrectly. It appears that you have a full speaker wire passing through the current transformer donut. Unless you are just doubling up the wires and both leads go to a single positive or negative terminal, it won't read correctly that way. You would need to make sure that only the positive or negative speaker wire passes through the transformer and not both.
Have you done an Audio pipe 15 inch with the 4 magnet? I'm planning on getting 2 of them and using a premade box for a time
2 suggestions. Use the line level inputs. Probably drive a stronger signal. Second option is to order a " knockoff epicenter". They have cheaper ones like Blaupunkt that will increase the signal level to around 5v or more. They run about 30-35 bucks. They work as a budget line driver.
I'm so getting one of those watt meters. Last I saw they weren't in stock yet.
What's the music you use for the montages?
I bought a loaded box very similar to this, but with the port and a 25amp plate amp on the side. It claims 500 watt max lol. The sub sounded decent until it blew. The plate amp is now powered by a computer power supply in my house pushing a Audiopipe DoubleStack 15". It has no issue at 2 or 8 ohm
I just subscribe… cool content keep up the good work
Hey Parker! I had a question for you. Is the big Jeff audio that you shout out. The big Jeff audio that is located in ocala florida??? Also thanks for all your content I watch every Sunday!
It is
Hey, Parker. How about a shallow mount sub experiment in a truck box. I just bought the sd4 d4 10" neo's. I cant find any good vids on them. I blew one of my skar sdr d4's, so I bought sundown sd4 d4 neo's. I hope i made the right decision
I’m just curious if it wasent the bass knob that was affecting the line voltage
I think 2 of the connectors were for + and - on both speaker and power and make a j-hook with the remote wire.
What is a good amp for 8 8inches x8v3 sundown
What is that watt meter on the wall? How can I look that up?
That's a system maybe for a go-cart or a kids power wheel. Can't bass on with that one. Lol. Great video my guy. BASS ON
Perfect Christmas present for a kid that's been naughty all year. 😭 That'll show em. 😂
Just curious... Try changing those rca cables for something of quality .. 20 plus years ago i had helped a buddy with an install and we just didnt get any volume out of his setup gains fully cranked... Turnes out the rca cables he was using had some really high resistance in the cables ...changed them out and set the gains properly....made a huge difference... His setup was Phoenix gold 800w amp and 3 jl 10" subs ... But yeah it was just crap rca cables ...
This is amazing!!😂
I get why the port is at the bottom
Its to help with loading
Have U ever reviewed Slapz Audio ? Heard they might be new, I seen a 1k rms 12in for like $250
Cover the Rockville dv12’s I’m rocking with some of those right now and they overheat like crazy
I’ve been trying to get that watt meter
We to ,,for months now
It is awesome!
Yeah I need iñfo on the watt meter
Where did you get the watt meter parker?
Been trying to get one for almost a year got the notification set for when they came back in stock I have literally missed it every time I contacted basshead garage and he told me that they sell out within 2 hours tops so you really got to be on point to get one
I'd like to see you do a review on ORION 15 INCH SPEAKER PLEASE
I have a rockville 1200w monoblock amp running a single 12 inch kicker truck subwoofer and it puts out impressive sound, been wanting to peak my head into some of rockvilles subs, not going to just go off one review. But overall i think for budget setups rockville isnt bad. Its made atleast half right and cheap. Perfect for first time or super budget setups
Try the Rockville k5 stuff those are actually decent for the price
People shit on rockville. I've had 8 10inch k6 subs on a taramps bass 15k proper electrical in my 2013 tahoe. I've seen 10k watts on music through my amm-1. Never blown a sub. Proper enclosure and electrical is a must with any setup.
Agreed! I loved my Rockville Destoyers 💪🏼🔊
I love Rockville subs amps yes stay away from them it's like planet audio in my opinion or boss amps
Rockville is the last website I’ll find myself on
Rockville as many brands have a lower tier offering and actually has a decent line up as well..Williston Audio Labs tested a few amps I'm guessing a few years ago and the performed as advertised if not better...I have the DB series Amp for a sub and the FV4 4 channel for components up front and they perform great.
Hey I’m a college student here and have around a 1k budget what do you think about the Dual 12" 1,600W Max Power Loaded Subwoofer Enclosure Compatible with 2002-2018 Dodge Ram Crew & Quad Cab Trucks by skar???
i got one awesome kit from Finland, cost me about 250e including wires and its 1000w 12" sub that comes with a bass remote and it kick hard like a mule to the chest
Thanks 4 the vid. I WONDER though, for $129 what WOULD you expect? AIN’T gonna find a PRO setup 4 the money.. so, is what it is ,I guess? (I know, save & get better, but LOTS will never have the budget for a pro set.). So, Is it 'OK' for the money?..
Anyone know if it’s normal for a hcca 15” Orion to smell not being played it’s out of the box just smell around voice coil could be glue but not sure does anyone else sub stink outside of enclosure
Rockville quadruples the RMS for their peak power. I've ran some of their products to the point where I'd blow other subs and/or amps. Not only that but people complain that it's too loud. Running 2- 12 inch shallow that measures 3.7 inches depth.
Have you or will you test a 4000 watt Crunch amp on Amazon?
I know this is low powered gear here, but i don't believe the preamps are the problem here. I'm betting the amp is actually a 2ohm amp considering they put its output is 400 watts @ 2ohm dynamically on the amp box and on it's website. Now, if the Sub is actually a single vc 4ohm sub and the amp is actually a 2ohm and not a 4ohm amp, it will only be able to put out HALF the watts its rated to that sub. So, since I'm pretty sure they made a mistake and its rating is 200 watts @ 2ohms instead of 4, its output to a 4ohm subwoofer can only be 100 watts at MAX then. Which would explain why you're only getting results around 50 watts without having to crank the gain and the vol of your head unit way into clipping, which of course doing so on any sub will make it sound like shit. At least that's what I believe is going on here, cuz like i said even tho we're obviously dealing with low power here, it still shouldn't be that weak. So, I'm pretty confident if u were to hookup your next lowest rms power 2ohm sub you got lying around your shop there to that amp, it'd sound much better and powerful. And if u wanted to show the sub sounds better than what you were getting as well, since u can't get it down to a 2ohm load being a single vc 4ohm sub. Id just take that tiny DB 2 channel amp you had "if u still have it" and just bridge it to 4ohm and hook it up to that box and see how it sounds then, u know? Or whatever low power amp u have that'll put u at 2 to 300 watts load @ 4ohm, u know what i mean? Cuz, i believe Rockville made a mistake and accidentally paired this amp with a single vc 4ohm sub, when it should've been paired with a single vc 2ohm sub. I really do hope you try both my suggestions in a video cuz i think it'll make a world of difference for both the amp & sub.
Whats your take on NVX products..I didn't see a video but please tag me if you do have one
Can you check out diesel audio subwoofers I was just checking out some 10s that were rated 1200 watts ! I’d love to see some in action (diesel audio NSH 10)
Was hoping a 40 hz test tone
Hey @ParkerTheBasshead
I have a dual 12in setup the subs combined can go up to 3600 watts, but with my 3000 watt amp when it gets to only around 1100 watt it starts clipping really hard, is there any thing I can do to get up to those higher wattage levels and not clip so hard?
You need more battery power
I wanna see how accurate that watt meter is
Personally i always have/will recommend piecing together a setup.
Todays market you can grab a decent 300-400w amp for 50$, a cheap 12 for 30-50$ with a cheap box that will crush this. Not to mention Used, i see kickers and gothics all the time on marketplace cheap, that will actually bump.
I have 2 Rockville can style marine speakers on the rear of my concrete mixer. I honestly bought them expecting maybe 6 months of play. 2 years later they are as good as the day I installed them!! Constant water, cement dust, road grime and rainy weather. I wouldn't run Rockville in my car but honestly these really blow me away. The gut shot of this amp was SO underwhelming!!!
Assassin audio! Wire that kills the competition.
Should add a bonus footage at the end that shows the sub with a real 3-500 watt amp to see what the little sub can do. I believe the amp is the main issue
That sub won't handle 250 watts rms for long.
Parker, it would be awesome for a review on Rockville RVW1800P 18" subwoofer. It's around $114.
Thanks for the review on this one too.... 🤙🏻🤙🏻 HB-843-SC🏴☠️
Maybe they got the HI level and low level inputs backwards in the amp? Wouldn’t surprise me if that’s the case. 😂
200rms @ 4ohms. What's the output @ 1 and 2ohm?
Idk? Maybe it’s only a 4 ohm stable amp 🤷♂️
i have nothing against rockville i actually think some of their subs are great for the money but when it comes to better quality equipment i would invest a little more but hey if you just want a little bump then this may be good for you
It did 119 watts at 6 ohms. That should be close to the 175 watts rating at 4 ohms. With that said, I would not trust Rockville after watching many RUclips reviews.
Your facial expressions crack me up 😂
Only putting out 100w because it was reading 6 and 7 ohm. Throw a 50A fuse, wire it to .5 ohm and watch that beast.....smoke.😂
Motor size is not an indicator of good air movement, a 50oz magnet is more than suffice for a 1.5" vc! Cone/Basket & Enclosure are the real bass quality factors aside from amnt of power fed.
Woulda been nice to see either the same setup but with actual quality wiring and/or the sub hooked up to an actual 500 watt rms amp, from the looks of the transducer Id say a 250 watt rms amp is likely the most it could handle.
Maybe if you use a different amp or you have a box for a different speaker stay away from Rockville you should do a video on Rockford fosgate
Rockville got intro trouble a few years ago for their lies, and I can see they are still lying.
I never was interested in their brand and never will. I know like every company they’re going to have some decent stuff but that’s as far as it goes.
How much power can handle this Watt meter? Could you test it one day? On the website, it says 100A, which is not a very big power 🤔. It's cheaper than SMD, but we all know SMD.
How about this one?
100A at amplifier output is 10kw at 1ohm
Oh, many thanks for your message 🤝
We all like stuff too Parker. Keep up the great work! Also, have you thought about reviewing TORO 12in subwoofers again? I got mine after I watched your review of the line when it came out. I have a CT sounds 1500.1D amp on it and it just seems to keep getting better. The speaker is the FIERCE 12S TORO. Thanks.
oh dam, i hear over the mechanical sound from the plastic cone :/
It sounds muddy due to the plastic cone of the speaker... The amplifier part may also be overdriven by the voltage amplifier in it.
It looks like a class AB amplifier for me, it gonna have lower efficiency, its not really for car audio suited.
For home audio, it may be good if it was properly made, but its so away even from New hifi amplifiers, and i wasn't even talking about 80's special ultra high end professional amplifiers (like 80's Pioneer amplifiers, (I'm a Pioneer SA7800 owner))
A decent pair of 6x9s would sound better than that setup 😆
Lol wow 22 lbs for the whole package! That's super light. My one sub was 29 shipped to me 😂
Unless hes already reviewed it, send it out to williston audio labs to see what its really doing
That's worse that I expected and I wasn't expecting much from Rockville. The lil bit of bass it does put out sounds like somebody's hitting a metal drum.
Nice 1
Thats what bass boost is for. Low rca voltage. Crank the bassboost 😅
120 bucks, i mean if you are a dirt poor student this maybe a win. Me i like a lot of things Rockville make for instance there pa18s jam!! Love to see them put out something other then Chinese budget gear. Even the heavy hitters in car audio have a buget line now too. But this gear sold for 120 would be budget of the budget. A lesser line then boss or planet audio. Not chitin on Rockville at all there making tons of money, just would like to see somthing other then fleamarket car audio...
I hate wedge boxes built that way I like the subs on the wedge side
That sub looks like it’s playing in reverse polarity
The R1100M is better lmao. Do a video on the TNP212D2 package.
Will you do a giveaway on that big boss 3 k lol 😂 i could use it 😢
Hey Parker, I don’t mean to undermined you, but when you said you had the gain maxed out, I know I shouldn’t make it seem like you made such a naïve mistake but it looks like you had the gain fully counterclockwise?! which is the lowest volume setting on the gain and the slot on the dial was pointing towards 6 volts Since the slot always points to whatever youre setting it to which at the lowest gain adjustment that’s why it says 6 volts indicating that you need a high preamp output of 6 Volts to achieve full power output potential unlike how at max gain fully clockwise it shows you would only need 0.2 volts to be able to achieve full power output.
Also, I noticed when you said you had the gain maxed out, You accidentally misunderstood what does setting meant and you turned it counterclockwise and set it to the minimum gain volume. Also, I’m sure you’re aware, And even aside from it being a softer suspension subwoofer to begin with, If you want it to last and for it to be able to take the full power and get the full excursion out of it, without having it start to be damaged and sound bad like that and having parts rub in the motor area, you have to break it in properly first and even though I never worry about a “proper break” in procedure. Especially because methods vary greatly, I just don’t crank it really loud Maybe not more than third volume for maybe the first several hours of playing music.
I think the Wal-Mart Jensens were better... and they caught on fire lol!
