Those being powered by a McIntosh is like putting race gas in a Prius 😂
real
No no no, race gas in a Chevy Vega.
The fact that they actually wired up all those drivers on that one speaker is pretty impressive.
Gotta give them, that's some serious dedication to building the crappiest shit.
I really doubt all "tweeters" are wired up @@ProbeGT2
Nvm, seem the tweeters
Shit half of em probaly aren't even playing
@@gbresaleking then you gotta give them even more credit. Considering they still bothered to solder wires to them all.
I would've liked to hear the speakers without the sub woofers.
"Please, God... NO!"
Wow, can't believe you found some speakers worthy of the McIntosh amp!
It was tough, but I finally found them!
@@wal Can you do a review over the B2 audio Rage V2 12" subwoofer
Tbh the amp let's the speakers down 😂
Totally agree 😂😂
I could hear those tweeters all the way here in Kenya😂😂😂😂
Gave me tinnitus in the UK 🤣😊
mashilingi🤣🤣
bana ni legit
This thread 😂😂
Mistakenly thought I was hearing the cicada swarm in Oklahoma!
I remember installing back in the early 80's. Car subwoofers were unicorns back then. The most popular install was 4 JBL T545 6x9s on the back dash. If you had a 4 pack and a Jenson Booster, you were the top dog!
Remember the Roadmaster booster eq? 😂😂😂
I think my Craig Powerplay cassette deck put out 12 watts per instead of the usual 3-4 in car players without external amps
I remember back when I used to work at a beeper store, the owner started pushing car audio too. But he wouldn't buy name brand stuff unless you put down a down payment then he'd go pick it ip from his wholesaler. I installed countless Mustang Audio equaluzer/boosters, Pyramid equalizers and amplifiers, as well as Boss Audio and later Urban Audio and Pioneer subs.
Back around 1985 I recall calling a local audio place on the phone that did car audio as well and asked if they had 6X9, or 4X10 speakers that could go down to 60 Hz or lower. I was laughed at. Well at the time Pyle had 4X10 speakers they called woofers that went very low, 45Hz maybe. I bought them and bought tweeters from Radio Shack and mounted the tweeter on the grill of those speakers I put in my 1978 Chevy Monza rear deck. Power it with a power EQ and it was pretty nice. 5 or so years later one of them had a rubbing problem.(to much sun), and I went to a local car stereo shop tried the Pyramid 4X10 (way to stiff) took them back and got Pioneer 4X10'sand that were workable but way to easy to move, and without any box around them they moved out to far off the pole piece. I still have the other Pyle 4X10 and built a small little 16 watt Sub amp for it and sub box of my own design. Still sound good last I used it. I had to glob of the surround with silicon where it had torn or wore out the edge. That was before I know that soft edge could be replaced and still work well.
@@grandam still have a couple around....just because
I'd rock those just based on looks alone 😂
For real!
At least they weren't "straight up lyin' to ya"...all nine powered, real drivers, not a fake tweeter in sight! 😂
Right! Never heard of a cone tweeter referred as a "piano" tweeter tho
they were not lying to ya because this is not a micky mouse program. lol
@The300ZXGuru lol, this here's m' favourite part.
@@wal I think what happened was over in Chi- er, i mean the IDI lab, PIEZO got mis translated to PIANO. Got a good chuckle out of that.. Even though, we all know those drivers are all pro competition quality drivers. >.>
@@leemollison7508 YOU BIG DUMMY ITS MY FAV PART TOO!
Thanks a lot Big d wiz. Those funky pup subs just blew my TV speakers out
Sorry, next time I'll place a warning before showing the pups
@@wal Play Too Many Puppies - Primus ...on the pups.
I can remember when PPL had 4 Kenwood 6x9s in a box for subs
Eyy haha my mom did back in the day in her vw beetle and older one not t one of these ugly new ones lol
I had 2 Kenwood 6x9s to make my camaros trunk a sub box
I miss those days when I'd go to the local flea market and grab a 200W Pyramid sub amp and actually be satisfied with the sound, lol
Or a Sansui pullout that had descent sound.
200w IRL but badged as 2000w 😂
@@slimstickman SSL still does that 😂😂😂
Back in 2001 my cousin tried to tell me his Sony detachable face was better than my Pioneer.. 3 months later, I was in front of him driving down the road and I saw something go out in his driver side window. We get back to his house and it was his stereo. Apparently the detached face kept losing signal..
My flea market was called Gibraltar Trade Center. Many great cheap memories and SYSTEMS were gained from there.
This might be the most epic car audio system on RUclips!
They definitely have that Sparkomatic vibe to them
"Mecca" from JCWhitney
Man back in the day, 6 of those with a pyramid 600watt equalizer would have been the bomb!!!! LOL!!!!
Greatest was the kraco truck box speakers with the passive radiator and awesome tweeter on top. From the late 80s and early 90s
Haha!! I haven’t thought about those in years. Had a couple friends with those. They are literally what started me into the car audio world. Would love to see Big D test some of those monsters.
I have a pair of those
😂😂😂😂 Good choice using the Macintosh to demo these AMAZING speakers!
The best speakers require the best in amplification
@wal I was honestly kinda shocked that all the drivers were connected! As always, thank you so much for showing this stuff Big D!
Im suprised the amp didnt call 911 to report a serious crime taking place
Big D, you outdid yourself on this one!! The video clip sampling and placement is off the charts!!! I’m dyin over here!!!
I don’t know how many people I’ve seen over the years who think that the more speakers they have, the better the sound. The best sounding system that I have ever had utilized a pair of Cerwin Vega 5 1/4” components and a single Lanzar 8” subwoofer. This was all in the late 90’s.
Thanks Big D!!
"Piano" tweeters, LMAO! The Chinese can't even translate the descriptive words properly for their products they export to the USA! Apparently, "Piezo" isn't a word that's in their "US translation dictionary", haha!...
These are definitely the ULTIMATE "White Van" fleamarket speakers, and you gotta love that ~1/2" diameter voicecoil on those 6x9 woofers! Wow, I didn't even know anyone made them that small!... And I also love your matching cream colored suit and top hat to make the most "professional" presentation of these possible... Just like the guys at the flea market who actually sell this kind of stuff... "Hey, I got a super awesome special deal just for you, TODAY ONLY!" LOLOL!
And actually, that nice oldskool McIntosh amp probably IS actually making these speakers sound even better than they would with most other amps of a lesser quality, but that amp is probably thinking "WHY are you insulting me like this?" LOL! 😂
This is one of the better "parody" (oops, I mean totally serious!), videos that I've seen you do! Pretty hilarious though in any case man!... You gotta love the total BS equipment out there in the car audio market, even if for nothing more than a good laugh!
Well, now you have to build a "Super Whack Stereo System" by hunting down similarly ridiculous audio components. Think Dora the Explorer amplifier,
They appear to be capable of time travel give em 88 watts 🤣
The mud is so thick I can hear it through the mic, through the YT compression and through my home theater.
You know Big D ain’t messing around when he brings out the funky pups!😂
I still have a pair of Tenna Mindblower 6x9s new in the box circa 1982
oh man those are sweet!
I think it's a common misconception that you have to pay a lot of money for great sound.
Your presentation on these high-end speakers is fookin' hilarious
Thanks for watching and commenting!
In the 80s i had a pioneer component system , underdash tuner and equalizer, and a gm-120 amp hooked to pioneer ts or tx 698's. Amazing sound and powerful as anything back in its day. We tried to fry them 6x9s to bohemian rhapsody many times but they were tough as a $2 ham steak. Great video Big D, keep it coming.
I used to have a pioneer GM-120 amp and the component system it came out of a corvair..
they are hekken friggin sick dude
Almost like ribbon twitters........almost.....
That’s hilarious you ran some of the cheapest speakers of all time on one of the most expensive amplifiers ever available 🤣
DR made me do it!
goofy ass speaker. would want to take it apart, completely (even dig into those tweeter enclosures) to see if they're actually playing, what the crossover caps are, etc
isobaric is usually just reserved for two woofers coupled together, allows for the same response/output with half the enclosure volume. (though i bet you were joking anyway, lol. *ACKCKCKKCKCKKSHUALLY*)
6x9 Pyle drivers in the 70s 80s
9 way? No way!
I had a set of Pyramid 4 way 6 x 9s in the late 90s in my 83 Buick Centry. I took them out the same day because they were so HARSH. TSSS TSSSS TSS TSSSS!!! Ear shredding harsh
If you wanted to do those speaker justice you should have given them some magic from1989 with a, Pyramid 10 Band Power Booster Graphic Equalizer. To see the smile that would be brought to your face with such sound quality and power, would be worth the price of admission. However the McIntosh was a good second choice.
Best speaker i have ever seen so far. :D
Particularly the Crossovers are highly engineered!
They say you can't judge sound quality using a RUclips video, but you have just proved all the doubters wrong. Super wrong.
*bliss*
@5:01 - That sounds like about every 6x9 speaker I ever heard. No mater how it was mounted. Although, I do think that the sounded bass-ier in the deck, the highs were always boned. That Why I went Pioneer TSX line.
Great, now I have to kick my Sparkomatics to the curb! 🙄
Im gonna trash my KRACOs 😂
hmmm, more speakers blocking the sound of more speakers on top of more speakers. Total counter productive. Funky PUP. What a name
Love the content! I have purhased a LOT of audio equipment after watching your vids. My sons accord is bangin hard. Thanks buddy, keep it up.
I have a challenger for you , back in the day 1976 circa there was a 6x9 with amplifier built in there was no no need of a preamp or a woofer at all and easy to connect for only 69$ they called mindblowes I don’t know who made it. But if there were on the market today I would installed in on my cars. Can find out if there is something similar ? Thanks
Is it bad I wanted to see the unlimited power test? Bridge that Mac and let them EAT! ...Or go down in a blaze of glory...
Are the funky pups magnets neo? Every time I see these I get a chill down my spine. I pray nobody ever puts full power to them. Crack the earth they will.
Ahh yes, the legendary Funky Pups! A nice upgrade from their predecessors, the formidable Shytty Kiddies
I remember having these or a set similar. I was very disappointed. Good thing the magnets are not really made with barium. Barium can easily kill you.
So do they pound your trunk like my old alpine 6 9s? 😂 My alpines mounted in the rear deck hit like subs, like a set of tens fr. Jvc 2 knob with booster eq.
My inner nerd wants to actually qualify each of the drivers on those assemblies and do the math on coverage vs. frequency. Bound to be some very alien shapes that come out of that throw diagram! 😅👍
I can see those in a 1980 pinto rear deck, the first speakers the 16 year old ever bought!!😂😂
I've actually heard some 6x9s bump. Never underestimate the power of a little speaker 😅
This is like what Mad Max would have rigged up in the Interceptor cruising around post apocalyptic Australia.
I can't believe you put them on a crossover with those supposed subs I wanted to see you let the factory smoke out of those 6x9s and the subs Man.... No fun
Dear designer; the 9 in 6x9 is a MEASUREMENT. Not a driver count.
I can just see a set of these mounted on a bicycle in some small town in Bangladesh.
That kind of speakers doesn't have any bass with small closed boxes like those. They are meant for car's trunk.
Dick Rickulous!! The speakers kinda look like to me if a transformer turned into a speaker 😂 Still love me some demos!!
These bad boys look like they came straight outta Optimus Prime's truck cab!!
Think I'd rather have the 80s sparkomatics at least they sounded good and could handle some power
Listen, if you don't have at least 10 pairs of these in your back seat, I'm not interested 😤🤣
Pioneer Ts-6907 four way were the best speakers I've ever owned.
I probably saw those back in the 80s at the Gibraltar trade center who knows Taylor ,Mi
BJCC in B'ham AL for me.
Sounds like something Pyle would sell. All the gimmicks and still sound like a Pyle.
So this was the source of the immense earthquake I felt last weekend, from halfway across the world
I like them would buy as a curiosity for speaker collection.
I don't care what they sound like. I would mount em up just for looks and wire in the good ones!
If it was a nine way, the crossover would cost more than the speakers! 😂😂😂😂
Got damn, the 9-ways? Haven’t seen something like that in forever…
0:48 Those Were Sold Through
JC WHITNEY CATALOG
Looks like something you’d see flying around in Star Wars 🥲
About the same quality as my old Realistic rack unit from Radio Shack
$15 ported enclosures from Best Buy for the win! I grabbed a pair of those for my JBL GT122 subs. They are too small and tuned too high but at least I can bump them from time to time in the garage. I seriously couldn't buy wood and carpet to build the enclosure that cheap.
That's the most ridiculous looking speaker I have ever seen xD
These were definitely made for Tejano music. I can already hear the accordions.
Ha-ha! This was absolutely terrific! Well done!
I don't feel so bad about my cheapos now 😆
What lunatic came up with those 😆👍
I remember these speakers from back in the 70’s when they were very popular
Pioneer 6909 6 x9 were amazing speaker for bass and loudness.
You must have grabbed the last one on Earth because I can't even find one of those lol
9 way speakers?!
You’ll vibrate your eyes out kid.
I remember in the 80's , the Jensens brand 6x9 where one of the best back then.
I love this so much. Ridiculously good value for $99 😂
You gotta be careful D, youre gonna blow the atmosphere off the earth!
I wonder if the folks that made these speakers went on to work for Gillette.
Now you have to put these up against JBL GTOs. Because everyone knows that those are the best 6x9 ever made.....right?
From jbl the jbl decade 6x9 were the best ever made but rcf 6990 (120wrms)and rcf 6903 (100wrms) are even better, one of the best 6x9s that existed made in italy
If it were ‘82 I would have been all over them. I was 12. 😆
laughing at the macintosh on the cheapest speakers ever
Should have used a roadmaster equalizer and rca amp...
Those orange surround 2 way spark o's were the shit back in the day
I thought they reminded me of the "Sparks" too!
Reminds me of a sparkomatic on steroids. 😂
I was surprised that they actually wired up all drivers. Expected some dummies just for the looks.
I was utterly shocked as well
just funny that junk its like really nine zillion junk tweeters or one half decent one which costs more lol theirs your answer back in the day their was no good tweeter in china lol
So you're saying more isn't better? 😝
If they aren't 5-way pioneer they can't be the best 😂
Thoes need to be installed in a 74 Mustang mach one
Thats hilarious! Mid/early April of this year I saw those EXACT ones and my first thought was "I should text Dereck to get these!.... Eh, bet he already has a set." LMAO!
Thanks for thinking of me!
Oh the comments, I just can't!🤣🤣🤣🤣
That shit hurts my eyes, let alone my ears.
Whoa - been a looooooooooong time since I seen such 6x9's - those are what, early 80's?
I think early to mid 80s
imagine putting that in a car and showing your friends as they try not to make fun of you until they see the mcintosh
Now that would be Dick Riculous!
I need those for my 100,000,000 watt amp 😂
Bet my Jensen 6x9s in the 70s were better.
