@@Chagrin223 not one channel but one pair of channels (as we are talking bridged) per voice coil yes. Gain should be set to match the pair of channels with least output. This way its same power on each coil and it’s not clipping on one pair of channels when another is clean. Would be good idea to use RCA cable splitters into front and rear channels if there is any chance of hitting fader control on source unit.
Amazing, ultimate work truck amp! Now I can start adding Savard subs to my fleet 😂 The size reminds me of the paperback Sony 2-channel that everyone was running their tweets with in the late 80s, maybe 20 watts per? Can't remember. I know this is off topic but I went with your recommendation on the Dual Wal-Mart $24 stereo. Paired with a set of $36 CT Sounds BIO 5.25" coaxs from Amazon, it floored me how clean & loud it plays in my rollback. Plays Steely Dan perfectly at 35 on the volume, bass set at 5, treble at 7. Absolutely no muddiness & plenty loud enough to cut thru the noise of the truck. Shockingly good sounding for $60! You're the best Big D! 👍
Its amazing how cheap and good amps have become, I bought a 100 dollar 1200 watt Jensen amp from Walmart, and I been bumping it full capacity for months and it hasn’t let me down, and it has a 3 year warranty. Like what?! Oh yeah and it has bluetooth settings and led lighting.
It's nice to see that Derek hasn't deviated too much from where he started, back when he wouldn't shy away from testing and showing an array of brand's and product's. Resisting giving in to corruption, persuasion, bias and rat packing is the right way to do it.
Very cool . good power for small size and small price . I think these companies would be better off under rating the amp , so when big d dynos it , you will feel better about your purchase if it does more power than they said . Thanks for the video.

that amp ic is 100% a TPA3255 , the power , the board layout screams tpa3255. they are running it at lower voltage or the powersupply is weak because it should do 250w ch at 4ohm with +- 50v

@@mattliston1215 you would have to bypass the internal power supply , they are limiting the power to keep the heat down as it would cost a lot more to keep such a tiny chip cool when it dissipates 30-40w while making close to 300w per channel. that would require a heatpipe and finned copper cooler.

My amp is mixture of one tpa3255 for the bass and two TPA3221 which gives you 4 channels, 100W for each one or two channels 200W each, you can bridge them. That amplifier has internal DCDC buck converter because supply voltage is 51V and those two tpa3221 can not handle more than 30. For the indoor or outdoor usage, excellent.
@@samohraje2433 not just voltage. There are many factors effecting total clean power output. Savard makes excellent speakers. I won a crank em up contest in 86 with a pair of Savard Hi Q subs. I tortured those subs for years and they held up without the magic smoke. Lol
Awesome little amp. Where were these great prices during the 80's and 90's Big D ? We had to get a second mortgage to pay for this kind of power back then. Lol. Great video Big D.
These things are getting smaller and smaller. I still have an old Kenwood 25x4 that's HUGE by comparison. I recently bought the SounDigital 400.4 for $79 shipped but haven't installed it yet. It was factory sealed but missing the allen wrench and the hi-level harness but I didn't need either one so I kept it. It uses an 80hz fixed crossover vs 90hz on the Soundfy, and it has 8 speaker connections vs 6. But it doesn't have a fuse on it like the 25 amp fuse on the Soundfy. The SounDigital relies on a suggested 20 amp fuse on the power wire. Not too sure about that as it seems kind of small. But I like the small size so I can mount it near the head unit and won't have to run so many wires all up and down the interior! It will be pushing 4 Cerwin Vega V468"s in my 2002 Explorer.
its most likely a TPA3255 chip they are in the 80w/ch ballpark and deliver really good sound if implemented properly beating many of high end high priced amps out there in terms of thd and noise
Right now 11/20/24 these are $60 on Amazon and for 2 channels of 300 plus watts at 4ohms that can fit into your hand...I say that is a pretty good deal. Think I'll get 2. One for two 6.5" Skar subs and one for a 5.25" mid and tweeter component set in the doors.

Two of these in three channel mode a passive under seat sub or a slim little truck box on the cheap you could have the rear views trembling for under 200...
At the end of the video you should " push it till it smokes " . Find out what happens if you push it hard for an hour or two. See how long it will push that 6 inch sub. Oh the fuse keeps blowing . Well do what a lot of people would do and that's put in a higher amp fuse and keep pushing it hard.
Is it because the default low pass is on which automatically engages the low boost at 45hz making it appear much more powerful than it really is? Usually you test things for us with all boost settings at zero. ❤❤

I would like to know how long the tiny amps will run a sub before melting down. I would also like to know on some of the low dollar amps, what parts could be upgraded in the amp without making it cost the same as an expensive amp
I have been watching yiu channel for the old school amp dynos, any thoughts on Critical Mass products? I have a few pieces, some have really been expensive. I personally think it has been great stuff with the price being.....inflated greatly. Just wanted your opinion on them, please.
I’m trying to power this with an external server charger that’s adjustable. What voltage do you recommend and how many amps? Any help is massively appreciated.
I got an old yamaha 8 inch powered sub amp pushin an american bass 12 inch subwoofer. Its in a 2.7 cubic ft. box tuned to mid 30s . unbelievable how loud &deep the bass is for such low watts. My wife throws shoes at me when i crank up the bass😂😆😂😂
The appearance of the chip and the circuit board layout says to me that its a TPA3255. Given the test results they might be rating it by peak power draw and not RMS output. It looks like there is a voltage boost circuit on the power input side of the board. I wonder if the voltage is actually boosted all the way to 48v? idk, it could be current limiting in the chip, too.
Hey Big D, I have an 06 scion xb currently with a 15 kicker in a sealed box running a kicker 800.1. Why is it tough to get good sound on this car is it the thin metal and I already added sound deadening. I was thinking of going with a single 12 ported either a savard hi q 12 or a fosgate p3 same amp. I'm looking for sound quality but loud as well. What you think?
@fookingsog yeah around the 45hz area but the thing is with how flimsy the car is how do you even improve it that's why I'm thinking going down to a single 12 ported.
Prime example of our today's car audio community needs. Watt per dollar. Nothing else matters just max power, how much it costs and how it's "flexing" the sub. Those chip amps have horrendous distortion that no one talks about... Yes, this is not SQ amp by any means, but no one is talking about that. This amp failed and is bad just because it didn't meet the power ratings specified on a piece of paper? No, this amp is bad because it has a lot of distortion. I highly doubt you will tell the difference between 35W and 50W.
The chip is tpa3255 The model is written on the black spots on the left or right side of the chip You must clean well to see the model Like if i am correct

When will you start doing low profile subwoofers for truck guys with no room like 06 f350 sd super crew
Sounds like the perfect amp for my 06 miata.
Can anyone tell me which song is 6:19 ? Please
What's the sensitivity on that sub?
How do I hook this up ? To my truck 2003 duramax? Crew cab? He’s powering the high mids and lows on this amp ?? It’s bumping ???!!
Can test some different Bluetooth controllers with out head unit either going straight to amp or through a sound processor first
This would be nice on my 85 Mustang for mids/highs
Marts Digital 4000 RMS x4 ? Would love to see a review.
Definitely would use it for tweeter/drivers.
You should check out the novsound g2 pro, I've got one running a scar SVR 12 and it sounds great. That one is about 80 bucks though
So I'm guessing you did a frequency sweep test to see what car parts are creating resonance problems???🤔
@fookingsog yeah around the 45hz area but the thing is with how flimsy the car is how do you even improve it that's why I'm thinking going down to a single 12 ported.
My Prius C had cabin vents at the back corners and I noticed a huge improvement with them sealed off.
Do it bump Doe!!! Yeah yeezie..
It makes about the same numbers as my sony dsx-gs80 . it seems to be a norm lately with the mini amps,45w rms @4ohm,88w rms@2ohm
I highly doubt you will tell the difference between 35W and 50W.
how did you one channel wire it??
The chip is tpa3255
The model is written on the black spots on the left or right side of the chip
You must clean well to see the model
Like if i am correct
