To be fair to Fisker, it's worth noting that this charging port actuator is also used in other EVs made by Jaguar/Land Rover. Since they are built at the same Magna plant, I believe some electrical parts from the I-Pace might be compatible with Fisker.
Of course Jaguar-Land Rover would be behind something like this...

All the electric vehicles have so many 'smart things' in them... but if any one part fails it seems like the car gets an IQ of 10 and can't operate.

About 20 years ago my father bought a 6 months old truck (I think it was a Hilux) from the company he worked at, it had a busted oil pan after someone had hit a curb and was covered in oil so no one thought it was worth fixing it since the engine was probably totaly busted.
My father got it for about $200 and he thought he'd have it as a project car or sell it for parts.
It turned out everything that was wrong with the car was that the oil filter had come loose and oil had sprayed everywhere.
He spent less than $50 on a new filter and oil and spent a couple of hours cleaning it 😀
Damn they went bankrupt twice

Fisker ocean is such a beautiful car. Sad the software has issues at launch.
They've actually addressed majority of the issues with current level updates...the problem is they have to be done in person by a technician...and there are no technicians around to do this anymore so there's a lot of people who are just left in the wind. They need to at least give people access to the updates and a way to perform them on their own.

In 2003 I bought a 1998 chevy suburban 2500 from a Ford dealership for $400. They though it had a bad transmission, turned out the shift sensor was loose. Cost me nothing to fix it.

Sounds like a common fault as I’ve seen a few Oceans for sale in the UK with charge ports in bits or even missing.
What is insurance like for this car, if the window replacement is $5k? Do they just total the car out if you get a window crack?

weird fact, if you put 120 or 240v DC into a chevy volt's j1772 port, it directly charges the battery while skipping most of the circuity. need to get a weird high voltage dc power supply, but looking at a lot of the connectors under the hood of this car, it just seems extreamly gm voltesque. idk if you want to mess with this but there are videos of it working for volt.
I wish EV's were treated like ICE cars.. like they are all repairable Rich is constantly proving it.
I hope in future there will be some kind of a standard for EV's to design them to be repairable.. I doubt it though...

It's really just some metal and plastic melted into shapes that happens to be a form of transportation if it works.
In EU they have been sold down to 30 t. euro, a lot of car for the price but expensive if they brick. Recalls are easy: your just do it yourself.
Dad has 1.5M YT sub, those kids don't buy their own lunch, they use the trays coming from the cashier and what's already on tables as a buffet.
This illustrates the BIGGEST problem with ANY EV...... Too Many Failure Points.
No just poor design with this vehicle(hence the bankruptcy) . EVs have far less moving parts and fail points overall then an ICE car.
Terrible design. Look how indestructible all the original Model 3's are turning out now with a gazillion miles on them. If designed right, they are simple.
