Wonderful car man! Just one thing I want to warn you about, the early versions of this engine had a bad roller rocker design in the cylinder head. The bearings like to fall out and blow the motor. I would seriously consider an extended warranty or maybe doing a video on updating the rockers to the latest revision which fixes this issue. They are otherwise pretty awesome engines. Looks great man!
First of all, congrats on the car. You truly deserve it, Alex. If I might be so bold, maybe not go chrome but colour coded to the wheels? Just an opinion. Keep it up. Cheers from Portugal ;)

Watch that timing chain cover like a HAWK. They're great cars but this is one of the Achilles heels. The upper bolts right by the cam cover like to either come loose or snap, then you get a pissing great oil leak. Getting the gasket replaced and the whole job done properly is PRICEY, it's an engine out job. I had one in work today with this exact issue, a colleague had a turbo in with the same issue. You can replace the bolts with updated steel ones which is doable in situ which should hopefully help. Also rear dampers and transfer boxes, change that transfer box oil! Congratulations on the new purchase!

Taylor this having a family thing is going to level out right? Tell your mate that Lambo estate family cars are what makes realistic viewing or praise the lord preaching is.
congrats on the purchase, I'm not an SUV fan but these Macan's hide their size well, especially in black. Though I would of looked into the Mercedes estate catagory, Im currently running a 2012 E350D thats just clicked over 200k miles. It doesn't have the sound of the Macan but does have a 2100kg tow capacity.
Just got out of my 2020 Macan, although it was just an S, it was the best daily I’ve ever had. Took it to almost 50k and had no issues. I’m sure you will enjoy.
Main dealer tech perspective here I hope you like transfer boxes and oil leaks because there will be plenty. Look for water leaks in the boot during the winter sunroofs almost all leak the creaking is a sign of this water sitting on the hinges and not being serviced correctly. Other things to look out for are pdk gearbox issues and the centre diff bushing in the rear subframe is very fragile / weak and will cause a knocking at low speeds when it perishes
Congrats Alex you definitely deserved to treat yourself, I tried to sway you away but this car does make a lot of sense for your needs right now 🤙 enjoy! ❤️

Seeing all the hate, don’t think people care about the price or the car. It’s the fact this “main channel” video is just another car purchase. And not a video about the classic cars, Ferrari and other cars we all want to see that you’ve already bought. Anyway, well done Alex on the purchase, it is deserved.
Like the fellas said you worked your ass off these past few years, you deserve somthing nice. Plus it's for the family comfort and safety! Congratulations!!!!
Congratulations on the new daily, you have worked hard and its nice to treat yourself every now and then! nice , newer more reliable car for the family and a bit of fun when you want it
Congrats!!! Compared to the rest of the car the wheels are looking a bit lack luster, I would get them powdercoated gloss black then diamond cut the face.
Whilst it's amazing the progress that Alex and Co have made in the last 2 years and congratulations on that, I'm finding that anything on AutoAlex is very samey these days. Same fixes (Coilovers, brakes and tyres) and a lot of look at my high end luxury car. I love the success and love the additions of TDC and ATG. But don't forget what got you here.
Well done mate, you deserve it. They really are great cars! I drove the current gen at Porsche Silverstone test track alongside a 992 GTS and the Macan was very impressive. P.s nice to meet you at goodwood. I was in the Porsche bit, i went to get you a beer but youd gone when i got back 😭
You know what not my cup of tea but congratulations definitely understand the reasons behind the purchase and im glad your in a position where you can spend that kind of money on a car. You took a risk and im so glad is working out very well for you and the team.
They're really nice cars only things they tend to suffer from is the od transfer case from time to time oil leaks from timing cover suspension components tend to ware out rather quickly not terribly hard to replace and water drains need to be checked/ cut they can close up and water slowly builds up in the boot and the plenum in the front other wise nothing usually fails catastrophically and are great cars to drive
I don't get the SUV trend , families think they have to have one but are just buying a fat hatchback which is much smaller than a estate handles like crap thirsty , you'll sell it when you realise it isn't a family car
Yep. It's a trendy car. My wife's Mazda3 sedan holds everything we need for running around with three kids. I have a 2014 V8 Holden Calais wagon for trips though. That fits everything and the dog.
As a Porsche tech must say this isnt a bad car to own. They are reliable and have seen the earlier models such as this have around 200k miles. Overall a good purchase i would say from a Tech standpoint.
@@GoodJobLittleBuddyHonestly not bad a bit sluggish but it’s a large diesel so what do you expect, as a car it’s a well engineered product as a Porsche I don’t see the exact point but they work well
As the guys said you honestly deserve to treat yourself to something really good you have been working hard and you have a Wife and a Daughter and priorities and you shouldn't have to live with cheap unreliable cars it's a funny gag but you honestly should live your life to it's fullest
His name wasn't a cheap shitbox, he was dudded on the timing chain and didn't service it for 15,000 miles. The Porsche will break if he doesn't service it way more often too. But minor details.
Love it Alex! I was looking at Cayenne's in the classifieds myself recently which lead my to Macan. It might be a touch too small for me though. Interesting the Macan's towing capacity, I would have assumed much less.
Macan's are great. I have a Gen 3 GTS myself. I went for Macan GTS over RS4 simply because when I go mountain biking in Scotland/Wales, I was always scraping the underside of my Audi S3. I couldn't bare to do that in an RS4, so I went for something with some ride height. I love the thing!
One thing I will say, I won't ever understand why people buy SUVs like this, you get more space in the average midsize sedan, less weight, better driving dynamics, lower drag (fuel economy) and more fun.
Agreed and at the risk of voicing an unpopular opinion: it's ugly. Seriously ugly. The entire design philosophy appears to have been "Cayenne but squished."
The shitboxes are great but I definitely can relate to that feeling of dread, when you have a kidlet, of breaking down in one. Great decision to treat yourself to something modern and (hopefully) reliable! Keen to see the daily driver challenge.
I know someone in Portugal who took that car in the 400 hp Turbo version, tuned the ECU, and added a new turbo. On the dyno, it reached 1,000 hp! The car became a beast for auto enthusiasts.
A modern Crossover/SUV? I get the criteria but there's so many great and practical estates and saloons that hit all those points without going into the SUV pumper category. A crazy volvo T8 estate, an Audi A8/S8 or a Jag XJR to name a few. All 5 star safety, acres of room, great towing capacity and new enough to still be reliable
At some point you will get sick of defending this choice of car. My answer would be, it's just a daily. That's all it is. End of story. @@AutoalexCars
Stunning drive, GTS with the PDK is a wonderful thing, interior quality superb. BUT, in a few months you'll realise that when you park and walk away, you don't glance back and think, "that's the business". I had a very similar 2016 and sold it about 6 months after buying it - it was the best car I've ever owned that I didn't want to own.
Well done on treating yourself and listening to Roy. Just a fault: A missed opportunity with Taylor when he compared the Macan with himself. The cue was there "It can also take 3 men inside!". That would have been the icing on the cake. :D
Honestly Alex, I'm so sorry for you! It's about fucking time you bought a car to properly treat yourself that's properly new enough to actually be reliable. You used to have press cars at car throttle, it's only the same as that. You can still have shit boxes on top.
Had a brand new hybrid one from Porsche garage whilst they did a recall. Tank to tank 14 mpg around town from and no no speeding. Dragging over 2 tonnes at any speed. Pushing massive amount of air out of the way anything above 40 mph aka frontal area
Great to see another Porsche on the channel, almost got the whole collection As a daily you’ve always got to pick a safe car for the family, a massive fast German brick is always the best option Cayenne owner myself ;)
In the podcast they said that right after the episode went live, they found out Miles needs an alternator and because of that they had to cancel the mot as well
I needed a new daily to replace my ford focus MK2 1.6 TDI... wouldn't pass another MOT without a grand worth of welding so I scrapped it. I have 2 kids and a Mrs and I do a 90 mile trip for work every day so needed something economical and spacious for the kids... obviously with 4 doors and eventually settled on a 2017 BMW m240i manual so basically ticked none of the boxes but atleast I'm happy while the Mrs and kids get the bus
I really enjoy @autoalex but really feel they are moving away from it's core audience. Porsche, Ferrari, Aston Martins. These aren't in the realm of normal people.
All these car channels eventually just turn into elaborate displays of wealth once the owners start making some money from it. There's some good garage / indie specialist channels that make great content actually working on cars instead of just showing people "look at this hyped of VW I bought!"
Take a look around any car park or road, plenty of people are financing 30k on a car, they're just not buying a Macan or a used V8 Vantage. They're buying an electric Corsa or going nearly 50k in the hole on a diesel 3 series

Seeing all the hate, don’t think people care about the price or the car. It’s the fact this “main channel” video is just another car purchase. And not a video about the classic cars, Ferrari and other cars we all want to see that you’ve already bought. Anyway, well done Alex on the purchase, it is deserved.
3:03 "I have a family now ... i have a daughter ... dog ... wife." ..... I love how the dog came before the wife ... bruh LMAO
I just through the was being mean about his missus
Like the fellas said you worked your ass off these past few years, you deserve somthing nice. Plus it's for the family comfort and safety!
Congratulations!!!!
Considering Alex doesn't clean his cars, black over black is an interesting choice!
For all the effort you have put into RUclips over the many years you deserve this 👏
We are all happy you are happy, but aren't you the guy who always told us Estates are better family cars than SUV's?
And yet he goes and buys not even a proper SUV but a crossover...
I remember a video about being done, with SUV life.
Anyone else think he was gonna call it Madeline instead of mark? 😂
Kind of bummed you didn't go for an estate like a V60 but I am sure this will do what it needs to!
He is a flog for fancy cars that will let him down.
I was in the Porsche bit, i went to get you a beer but youd gone when i got back 😭
King of the richboxes 😂
its official!, no longer king of shitboxes confirmed....No going back now!
"Why im done with SUV life"
You know what not my cup of tea but congratulations definitely understand the reasons behind the purchase and im glad your in a position where you can spend that kind of money on a car.
I see Rory got his Aston Martin
I think it might be Wills from top dead center. They said on the podcast he bought one after Rory said he wanted one
or is it the TDC one
@@TheRasmusdc I just thought that onwer.wws one of their friends
It might be his car! May or may not be mentioned on the latest podcast......
@@TaffPlays probably. I don't like the colour if it's the case
You look like 3 boys who have taken the dads car out for a drive without his knowledge
I don't get the SUV trend , families think they have to have one but are just buying a fat hatchback which is much smaller than a estate handles like crap thirsty , you'll sell it when you realise it isn't a family car
Well I agree but the suv have a bigger tow rate then all of the other normal cars
Modern SUV is a compromise between a hatchback and an MPV without the advantages of either.
@@linus3502 a6 allroad's is higher
edit: volvo V90 too, panamera sport turismo is tied
Yep. It's a trendy car. My wife's Mazda3 sedan holds everything we need for running around with three kids. I have a 2014 V8 Holden Calais wagon for trips though. That fits everything and the dog.
@@linus3502 a6 allroad, v90, panamera wagon have the same or higher rating
Love it! Nice to see someone succeed 💪
As a Porsche tech must say this isnt a bad car to own. They are reliable and have seen the earlier models such as this have around 200k miles. Overall a good purchase i would say from a Tech standpoint.
Its totally overpriced for what it is, and it is basically oversized VW Golf
What about the horrid transfer box issues?
@@CGCTV From what I’ve seen there is the occasional issue it’s more cayennes that suffer with it
Whats the diesel like if you dont mind me asking?
King of the PoshBox.
Gotta say, I wasn’t expecting that coming! Totally surprised me.
Good for you dude! Fully deserved and there needs to be at least one perk to fatherhood.
Isn't the perk supposed to be having the child?
One thing I will say,
I won't ever understand why people buy SUVs like this, you get more space in the average midsize sedan, less weight, better driving dynamics, lower drag (fuel economy) and more fun.
Agreed and at the risk of voicing an unpopular opinion: it's ugly. Seriously ugly. The entire design philosophy appears to have been "Cayenne but squished."
Listen out for Transfer box issues which are common and creaking from front , the arms are an issue too.
The shitboxes are great but I definitely can relate to that feeling of dread, when you have a kidlet, of breaking down in one. Great decision to treat yourself to something modern and (hopefully) reliable! Keen to see the daily driver challenge.
so much for dailying the skoda then
Alex: "I dont really do flash"
*continues to buy a Porsche*
Another Porsche.... He has one already 🙄
rs6 is arguably less flash than a porsche lol (and an rs6 does absolutely tow)
you need to do an episode of Autoalex, TDC and All the gear!!! Content is awesome alex thanks
I second this!
I know someone in Portugal who took that car in the 400 hp Turbo version, tuned the ECU, and added a new turbo. On the dyno, it reached 1,000 hp! The car became a beast for auto enthusiasts.
congrats on everything Alex!! so proud of you brother
None except the Volvo are estates…I have a dog 😂 my criteria are really specific 😅
At some point you will get sick of defending this choice of car. My answer would be, it's just a daily. That's all it is. End of story. @@AutoalexCars

RIP king of the shitboxes. That title has been handed to the TDC guys now
Jonny Smith is now the King of the Shitbox. His end of year fleet review was superb.

Exactly where my brain went. 😅

@@Loverofthelight 2 irresponsible owners on the log book, but plenty more "registered", ahem, thereafter.
Used, abused, and ran into the ground.
Honestly Alex, I'm so sorry for you! It's about fucking time you bought a car to properly treat yourself that's properly new enough to actually be reliable. You used to have press cars at car throttle, it's only the same as that. You can still have shit boxes on top.
Alex doesnt do flash.. . Thats why he bought a Porsche as a family car yep yep yep....ok.
You mean.... Another Porsche? He already has one....🙄
It's THE Karen mobile!
Porsche Kayren ?
That's a Range Rover Evoque/Sport or Merc G/ML.
Had a brand new hybrid one from Porsche garage whilst they did a recall. Tank to tank 14 mpg around town from and no no speeding. Dragging over 2 tonnes at any speed. Pushing massive amount of air out of the way anything above 40 mph aka frontal area
Great to see another Porsche on the channel, almost got the whole collection
As a daily you’ve always got to pick a safe car for the family, a massive fast German brick is always the best option
Cayenne owner myself ;)
It's not a real Porsche though is it?
Shows what generation I am, "I know what you're all thinking... mark" ...here's me expecting to hear Terry!
i was expecting madeline…
And there i was thinking he was going to call it Maddy… Congrats Alex, well deserved!
What happened to the Myles? Puts new wheels on just to but a Porche, bring back the sh*t boxes
Did you not se why he bought it
Miles couldn't tow 1500kg let alone 2200kg
@@matthewhill5893I reckon you'd be surprised
In the podcast they said that right after the episode went live, they found out Miles needs an alternator and because of that they had to cancel the mot as well
@@2008tourer Not suprising with how long he's sitting around
Congratulations man! Glad you've treated yourself Alex, you have earnt it, and what a nice spec this is!!
He's bought himself a daily car that's good for the family, it isn't exactly a project car
@Bun0892 they do mention doing content with it.
Take a look around any car park or road, plenty of people are financing 30k on a car, they're just not buying a Macan or a used V8 Vantage. They're buying an electric Corsa or going nearly 50k in the hole on a diesel 3 series
If you enjoy then don't complain about there core audience just enjoy it
