    One thing not too many people think about with 4 door or extended cab pickups is what the rear area is like with the seats folded up. If you don’t want to ride people in the rear and you want to carry cargo or ride your dog, you need a flat rear area when the rear seats are folded up. Like I said, not too many people think about this and it is rarely seen or shown. This feature is important to me.

Cars are already loaded to the brim but all you see is "well it should have this", "if it had these features maybe I'd buy it", need's more power (even though we have the most powerful range of cars ever), and on and on. Exactly. This comparison, as with most car comparisons, is completely ridiculous. What they should have done was do a base vs base, or do equally priced (equip both to $40k and see the difference). The Gladiator is in its own category, especially the Rubicon. If they're gonna use that they should have compared it to an F150 FX4, or even an F150 Raptor. But then it would show that the Gladiator is way too overpriced for what it is. If they dropped an SRT 8 motor in it then MAYBE I could justify the $60k price. Not that the V6 is bad, but I mean come on.
      With that said it's insane that a Ranger with barely any options, not even leather seats or a sunroof, costs $42k. What the hell? Why are mid size trucks costing the same or more than their full size companions? I mean you can get a full supercrew F150 XLT FX4 for $4k more.

    • @dre04mach
      @dre04mach 5 лет назад +4

      @@logictrumpsemotion3851 I agree with you that everyone who's cross-shopping is gonna shop price... and when cross shopping price you're gonna hit the reality that in the ranger you CAN get a locker (and even cheaper than this config), whereas in the gladiator it's either rubicon or none. Don't get me wrong, the rubicon goodies you get for the price are great for a factory deal, but as an ex-rubicon (wrangler) owner, I can't help but think that overall you're better off starting with a base model and adding a pair of 1 ton axles (why I sold my rubicon). For the same price you're in a better starting position. And that's where the ranger is gonna kill it, in those lower end price configs.
      There's also a lot more competition there too though, with the taco and the square wheel wells thing with the menstrual pad on the grille. Time will tell.

      What are talking about? I mean why are so many people here completely ignorant of automobile engines. The Jeep's naturally aspirated engine has the widest most linear Torque curve of any V6 engine. You understand The Torque especially on the low end is what gives power to move the heavy vehicle. Sure the I4 once the Turbo kicks in will hit faster initially but since it's torque band is very small that kick goes away fast where in the V6 Pentastar you have full Torque all the time from 1000-5,000 RPM.

      Devin Bender locking hubs don’t serve any purpose off-road other than being able to disconnect the front driveline from spinning. Every Jeep made in the last 25+ years has permanently locked hubs. Every all wheel drive car has permanently locked hubs for that matter.
      The FX4 Ranger is a more direct competitor to the TRD Tacoma. Any Gladiator with a rear locker will have more off-road capability than the Ranger or Tacoma because of the solid front axle and overall more off-road oriented chassis.

    As a long time Ranger owner ( 4 from 1988-2011), this is the Ranger that all U.S. Ranger owners have been waiting for, except.....
    The 4 cyl motor. Yes, it has more horsepower and torque than any Ranger of the past. But, having the option of, at least the 2.7, without having to spend 50K for a Raptor version, would almost guarantee older Ranger owners would run to the Ford dealer.
    But, Ford is doing what they always do. Get the truck mostly right and the marketing all wrong. The ecoboost engine was a marketing choice, I assure you. No V6, so as not to challenge F150 sales. Ford still does not understand that Ranger buyers do not cross shop F150s.

    I really think the front locker on the Jeep and ZR2 are over-hyped. The Ranger and Tacoma both have a brake simulated front locker that effectively acts like a limited slip diff. Very true. Asked one of the local Jeep guys with a Rubicon how often he uses the lockers in his. He said in the past 6 years he's maybe used them twice....he said if you know how to drive, and pay attention to your line you don't need lockers and he's been down every Jeep trail in the western US. Definitely way over-hyped and over-priced just something else for people to buy to make them feel cool. Even my 96 ZJ had open differentials and it did have full time 4WD (quadra-trac) and that thing went everywhere I pointed it, and never had mud tires on it, but seemed to always find the mud up to the doors and never had any issues getting stuck. Its all in knowing how to drive....lockers are fine for driving in a nice flat straight light, but throw some turns in and off-camber conditions and you start breaking expensive stuff.
