      And it shows a real side of the trucks, not just “wow this thing picks up well when I floor it” or “it’s got a nice interior” because people like this construction guy want to know if their truck can actually do work, not just look good mall crawling.
      Look at him, he hasn’t upgraded his truck in forever because nothing can actually do work like those old trucks. And his comment at the end made the whole thing. 20:32

      @@GC-ph9mz It's also probably due to legal restrictions when it comes to weight ratings as well. Certain classes of driving license forbid people from driving vehicles over certain weight ratings or axle capacity. Then there are the individual state regulations as well. Sometimes it's easier to de-rate a vehicle in order to comply with regulations than it is to certify drivers for higher license classes.

    I.M.O. anyone who pays that much for what is essentially a weekend camping truck is crazy ,also a torture test like that should be over a longer period of time it does it for a few hours as most SUVs would ,a month would be another story.

    And in this episode, Tommy discovers why all electric trucks aren't going to be mainstream anytime in the near future. Trucks need to do this all day long. Mileage ratings are useless to most people who work with their trucks all day long.

I really like the eco diesel, my grandmas truck is one, a 2014 that didn’t go in for the emissions recall and was fully deleted by my gramps, and she’s got this 15’ coal trailer that when my gramps was around usually got towed by the eco diesel.

    Given that it is a JEEP, I wouldnt be surprised with its limited payload, especially with a diesel in the engine bay. That said, I think the gladiator did a pretty good job taking on its given tasks. I certainly wouldnt use ANY truck that has less than a 6 foot bed for farm/ranch work. Its a pretty capable truck, but I feel it would be too urban, imho.

      Pretty pathetic that a Toro GTX has a higher payload rating than a Jeep Gladiator.

    • @jeffrentsch4318
      @jeffrentsch4318 3 года назад

      @@ryanreimer201 Oh no the Toro was way over it's rated weight limit. I was on not public land, off road. Owner of machine and land my boss said "run it if it kills the frame, or anything else, it is so old it already paid for itself " I would not over load anything like that on a public road (just so I wouldn't risk hurting bystander). Also wouldn't suggest going 4x over weight limit if you like the vehicle.

    Great video Tommy! You guys should give the Raptor and the TRX the same treatment. In fact, you should do it with all trucks. It seems these days they all have a lot of tech... but are can they really handle a day's worth of work on the farm? In fact Tommy, you should make that a new test for all trucks. Can they handle work? Or something catchier...

    The real problem I see here is the trim level; if you want to work it like a truck get a Maxtow. Mine has over 1600lbs. payload and, according to Jeep, over 8000lbs. towng capacity all while still being very capable off-road with a couple modifications.
