Dalek Sec. He was the best dalek, most imaginative, witty, resourceful, and cleverest. He was a fully fledged character all on his own. Nice that the show topped it off by giving him a stunning polished and matte black armoured casing.
Having the black casing was such a clever way to indicate a "leader" Dalek in the black-and-white era, but it's really cool that they kept it up in later seasons and even in the new series. I am curious how Daleks are placed into their ranks. What makes a Dalek worthy to be a black or gold Dalek instead of a regular drone? My guess would be experience/effectiveness, but who knows?
The original Daleks were mutations of the Kaled race. Even in the Dr Who story Genesis Of The Daleks. Daleks were mutations of the Kaled race. Pushed into their ultimate form by Davros. But as time went on. The Daleks continued to mutate into a more mutated version of themselves. Which eventually led to the war between the Daleks over their purity. I E the clones Vs the natural Daleks. The ranking of Daleks would probably be more down to their creation in the lab. Senior Dalek units could be bred to be less or more intelligent as required. Daleks are soldiers of war and even the occasional Black Dalek would get destroyed. So yea. It would make sense to have others on standby. Ready to take over when need be. Even the Emperor has been replaced over the years.
My favourite black cased Dalek is definitely Sec instead of being a regular Dalek Commander he's his own fully fledged out character and besides the Dalek Emperor he was the first different looking Dalek that I saw growing up on the show
Also, the Black Dalek Supreme from Master Plan is definitely my personal favorite. Since it’s Dalek 6 up until Ep. 11, we don’t have to see much of the neck block. Additionally, although they’re simply the result of convenience, I feel like the grey shoulders break up the black quite nicely. A full black version of this design (like the one on the thumbnail) always just looks odd to me
I love the black dalek design, if Daleks can go up in ranks, as sort suggested, does the mutant change the travel machine entirely, or do the travel machines have the ability to change colours, when a Dalek is granted a ranking change?
I really like the idea that it is the same black supreme dalek theoughout classic who, it does create a very interesting villain and also a very strong explanation for thr daleks deep hatred of the doctor - a personal grudge from the supreme
Great video! My favourite Black Dalek variant has to be the one seen in The Chase and Daleks' Masterplan. It just looks soo good and definitely shows that it could be of a higher rank. Also I noticed in your video that theres some glitching when a cut happens sometimes, idk if that's intentional, but its a nice little addtion you added there!
Dalek Bumps. I remember in the late 1960's or early 1970's there was a Dr. Who! series whereby some Daleks had black heads (not the kind you squeeze), and the rest had white or grey heads. What happened to them?
I'd like to see more varied ranks of Daleks in future Dalek stories (not just the Bronze casing) but not necessarily a black dalek. It would help the stupid humans tell us apart, they think we all look the same!
I think the lack of black daleks is because as the dalek web has become more advanced its simply not needed for identification any more followinf the paradigm
I suppose we can consider that the guard hold a similar role to Supreme, being that all guards are considered Black Daleks (as alluded to by the Emperor and Second Doctor), but not all Black Daleks are a member of the guard
The black Dalek from resurrection is the best for me. Plus, the Renegade Supreme should've escaped or tricked the doctor to escape in some way. Never made sense that defeat made it explode tbh.
If I were writing that scene, I think the dalek, hopeless with its back against the wall would have just lost all composure and just started firing it’s gun, desperately trying to murder everything it sees in a panicked, murderous rampage. Then the army folks could blow it up. Then again, I’m sure the Remembrance production were probably running out of pyrotechnics budget by that point.
Black appears to be the Dalek command colour. You often see a group of, Warriors/ Soldiers, in squad formation, with one having Black Plates, or Shoulders.
I have never been a fan of the idea that the black Dalek (supreme) are all the same Dalek. Especially when certain black Daleks have been shown to have definitive deaths. But also because, it sort of makes the Dalek empire seem more cramped and less expansive. For me personally I have always believed that the Title of “Supreme” is given to only the strongest and most powerful of Daleks. The supreme Dalek acts as the supreme commander of the Dalek empire, second only to the Emperor himself. When one Supreme Dalek is destroyed another takes it’s place. I also love to imagine that every supreme Dalek leader we have seen is a member of the Supreme Council. Xx
I think the Black Daleks we see onscreen are all different individuals. I agree with the other poster that having them be all be the same makes the Dalek Empire feel small. I think that "Supreme Dalek" refers to the leading Dalek in any large operation - a Black Dalek usually serves this role, since a Black Dalek's role is usually to oversee operations, such as Invasions and retrieval missions. However, if a higher ranking Dalek is present and takes command, it then becomes Supreme Dalek, and as such, the Gold Counciller Daleks (the sort that usually do the day to day running of the Empire's enslaved star systems) can also be Supreme Daleks. Not to be confused with The Dalek Supreme, which is the head of the Supreme Council, and can also be Supreme Dalek if it's commanding an operation. The Emperor's Guards are lesser Black Daleks - essentially elite drones that convey the same authority as a Black Dalek, but have less autonomy, serving more as mouth pieces for the Emperor's will.
Wouldn't it be cool if the Supreme Dalek that we see in Resurrection of the Daleks and Remembrance of the Daleks is the same Dalek that shot Davros at the end of Genesis of the Daleks? To me, that would be an excellent end to a recurring Dalek character thematically speaking. It asserting itself as the Dalek leader at the end of Genesis only to lead the Daleks through several losing campaigns before dying by it's own protuberances. The fact that it saw how the Daleks under Davros were having more success than they did under it, the one who declared the Daleks to and only the Daleks to be the superior beings would provide great motivation for rebelling against Davros, making it as much a matter of pride to it as it is about purity.
0:26 ...Is it wrong or funny that I know where that scene comes from? XD Btw. what *is* the difference between Dalek Supreme and Supreme Dalek, as I have heard both used for different Daleks over the years.
The Dalek Master Plan Black Dalek is the best one on screen, but I think that the one commanding the Dalek forces during the Apocalypse Element story was the best one overall…
A Black Dalek, is the General Field Marshal, in charge of all Warrior/ Soldier Daleks. Whereas a Supreme is in Tactical Charge of all Daleks forces in a Sector or Operation.
Black Paradigm Daleks are my favourite design that never existed
WDYM by never existed
@@Legendary3Dgamer it’s a design that was never made in the show but it looks really cool
Utterly impractical material choice, but the stained glass Dalek design goes hard as fuck.

I think that was probably through combat experience.
But later, and I think probably, disastrously, Daleks were cloned, rather than bred.
The original Daleks were mutations of the Kaled race. Even in the Dr Who story Genesis Of The Daleks. Daleks were mutations of the Kaled race. Pushed into their ultimate form by Davros. They're just like other Daleks except they are allowed to say a certain word.
Precisely
Frieza: "Welcome to the club!"
Booyakasha? :P

I scrolled down on your channel page.
I read "Dalek" so many times.
Now it looks weird.
I only have myself to blame 😂
BLACK DALEKS ARE SUPREME...OBEY, OBEY!

black daleks will always be my favourite type of dalek.

OHHH BLACK AND YELLOW
They really should've used the dalek overseer in more stories.
at least an episode of new who would be cool
All the original black daleks
Take a shot everytime Black Dalek is said.

I honestly like the movie dalek versions more than the ones in the show (aside from the resurrection supreme)

I mean Dalek Sec is just my all around favorite Dalek, so this is a very easy question. :3

Please do a red dalek video someday.

iirc the black-domed Bronze Daleks we're the Emperor's personal guard

They're Daleks with a different paint job 😉
