What are Slyther Monsters?
Просмотров 1,4 тыс.2 часа назад
The Dalek Invasion of Earth introduces a very interesting aspect of Skaro lore - the Slythers. These monstrous creatures are allegedly native to Skaro, and the Supreme Controller Dalek of the Earth occupation appeared to keep at least one of these creatures as a pet. In this video, we are going to take a look at the in-universe lore of the Slyther, as well as some interesting behind-the-scenes ...
The many contradictory accounts of Davros' trial
Просмотров 2,6 тыс.9 часов назад
It is established in Doctor Who lore that the Daleks take Davros to trial at some point between Revelation of the Daleks and Remembrance of the Daleks, and that this trial ends with Davros becoming Emperor of the Imperial Dalek faction and driving the Supreme Dalek and his Renegade Daleks off Skaro. But other than that, the details are a bit murky, especially since there are at least four main ...

Do the prophecies of Dalek Caan relate to the new era of Doctor Who?

    Honestly, it could just be that they use Rels for countdowns so that viewers know something is happening soon, but they don’t know when exactly. Like when someone says “We have 30 seconds to save the world” you start thinking on certain scenes “This has definitely been more than 30 seconds” but you can’t really do that with a Rel because you don’t know how long it is. TLDR: Clever way of writing countdowns that seem like their happening in real time

  • @MissKFOX
    @MissKFOX 7 часов назад

    I think Rel, as a short term for Relative, is a unit that is literally relative to the point of time in reality that reality is at. Or... To make it simple... The older a universe is, the shorter/longer a Rel becomes. Rel is both a unit of time and space, and thus constantly changing. Thus it can measure both, and cannot ever be consistent long-term as it is in perpetual flux with each passing moment.

    We see with Rusty that the Dalek casing also seems to contribute to their ability to feel emotion so maybe when the casing isn't present or is damaged the mutant is capable of laughter, could partially explain Caan and the Recon Scout since they were out of the casing and also maybe the Jubilee and Metaltron, Metaltron did repair the casing but maybe the circuitry wasn't fully repaired at that point (plus Rose's humanity). The enhanced thing can explain the rest.

    Dal = fact. But they came first, not afterward. The planet took a long time to repair then the Kaleds had found hints of powerful ancient technology. The Kaleds have found only a few 'Old School' daleks: one was dumped into the Daleks' Asylum and there is an Ancient Dalek in 'Dalek Control' (magicians apprentice) that seems to have to obey the Modern Emperor (each would rather their own empires were the victor but they 'Control'(ed). Dal empire daleks required static electricty to move, but they had a force field that made them invulnerable, noting when that force field failed a human or a frankenstien monster could easily break them and throw them around. Dals did not live in Oblivion like that is Davros'es favorite dimension, their "Dardis" was full of light. Do note the severity of Dal Machine Daleks and Kaled Travel Vehicle Daleks have entirely operated nearly identical and parallel mission plans and events, but have barely encountered each other. (Cherry Red and Blue TV21 Dal-Daleks look like a copy of the future Daleks unending gung-ho for military activities and military victories and not too interested in the science operations those slow seeming Old Dr Who Daleks had seemed (perhaps they were 10,000+ years old and their slowness from old age is still coolness)

  • @ChristopherCronin-mr3cj
    @ChristopherCronin-mr3cj 19 часов назад

    Hi. Nobody seems to be dividing the Dal Machine Dalek empire from the Kaled Travel Vehicle empire in their Doctor Who descriptions of the Daleks. There are differences , although both machine filled bodies were easily jumped into by a doctor or human. There are Dal empire Daleks that behave much like the future Daleks of Davros, Cherry red and blue ones in the TV21 magazine. If a writer for Dr. Who could get all of the Dalek logic together, then all the precious memories of British Dr. Who watchers would not be betrayed by seeming changes to yesterdays beloved meaning (even if old Dr Who makes someone 'sad' this is still sanctity). Ex: if those Cherry and Blue Daleks were not the past copying its own future (to its own temporal error ?) then perhaps those are the "Hybrid", the Dal's would be willing to create a hybrid like that, very scientifically obsessed and alive in an unknown dimension(they made many versions of Dalek freely back then). Dal is more 'Hellenistic' and Kaled is more 'Roman'

    One possible reason for the origin of the word Rel could be from the name BREL (British Rail Engineering Limited) that was stamped in metal near the doors of the old slam door rail carriages from British Rail.

  • @ValueNetwork
    @ValueNetwork 23 часа назад

    This might sound pedantic. But Honestly i really dislike the idea that the daleks have a legal system and will put their enemies on trial. If a dalek isn’t shooting to kill they should have some form of plan or intent behind doing so. A “Fair trial” like is sometimes depicted with the trial of Davros where he’s found not guilty simply shouldn’t be possible. If I was to redo the ending of revelation i would say that the Black Dalek supreme wanted Davros sent back to Skaro for a public extermination.

I don't even mind the fact thar it has an amorphous shape or anything, it's the shuffling around teeny baby steps at a time that lets it down. Be nice if it came back, though. You know if the Daleks found it a viable tactic to capture and transport Terrorkons to other planets, they definitely would.

    I'm not a writer, so I don't think I could have come up with anything great in a RUclips comment, but I'd have had the Paradigm Daleks come in and comprehensively own everyone and leave that as the cliffhanger to have the audience wonder how humanity will ever win against these things. Since it's set in WWII, maybe have the Paradigm Daleks initiate something like The Blitz and use the sudden barrage of bombs as a distraction to try and exterminate high influence people (military leaders, Churchill, and the Royal Family for a start). Of course the Daleks lose in the end, they have to, but spend most of the episode showing that The Paradigm is a force to be reckoned with, maybe by using that door on the back to bring out a second gun or some other threatening implement to kill or torture with. I'd have also, as you said, tone down the power rangers on them. Make them darker colours, more metallic, maybe give the bumps a brighter colour as highlight rather than the main feature. The hunch I don't hate, but I'd make it look more like a rucksack to denote the equipment carrier on their back.

      Bonus points if the Daleks say something like "The triviality of this Lorenz Cipher means we can direct an attack when and where we choose" when directing the Blitz to happen sooner than it should.

    With regard to a Rel sometimes being used as a unit of distance, there's plenty of weird ways you can make space and time equivalent. A stationary object is moving at the speed of light through the Time axis, and an object that moves at a speed though Space must slow down in Time so as to not have a total velocity faster than the speed of light. Maybe this could also explain why the length of a Rel seems to change?

    • @jameswalker199
      @jameswalker199 День назад

      The translation may not be instant, too. If you were unfamiliar with metres it would be easier for you to understand feet, but in a setting where precision is needed "3.28084 feet" is an unwieldy number. Even though you have less familiarity with it, hearing "1 metre" may be preferable, especially given context such as you holding a measuring tool marked with metres. Of course, if a Rel is about a Second, and precision isn't needed, why not just say "seconds" and most people will understand? Are we applying logic and reason to a programme that never used to take itself too seriously?
