This video is excellent! Super detailed and well-researched, thanks for taking the time to make it. The history of the New Dalek Paradigm has always fascinated me, especially since their fate was left ambiguous. I think that the Siege of Trenzalore was intended to be the final end of the Paradigm, I think if The Time of the Doctor had been a full series as originally intended they would have expanded more on the Dalek capital ship and established that it is the Parliament of the Daleks, and that when the Eleventh Doctor regenerates he wipes out the Paradigm leadership in the process. I hope that one day we see the Dalek Eternal again, and that it will explain exactly what happened to the Paradigm, and I'd really like to see the metallic Drones and Strategists from Asylum of the Daleks make a reappearance, they were by far the best version of the Paradigm props. Interestingly, the props for the Paradigm Daleks were on set for the Series 9 opening two-parter, but they were deliberately left out in favour of Classic Daleks. Is that Moffat's way of telling us that the Paradigm is done for good? I guess time will tell...
Thanks for the kind words, means a lot! It’s such a shame that the chances of the Paradigm returning properly are pretty much none, especially with Russel taking back over. It would’ve been really good if the Siege of Trenzalore was a whole series instead because as you said, we could’ve actually gotten some expansion on the Paradigm. So many missed opportunities
I love how basically every Dalek story post Victory of the Daleks can begin with "at an unknown point, the Daleks just kind of came back (please don't worry about it)".
@@OliverJGibson no that's the Russell T David version this is the post Victory era you know where the Daleks actually have a functioning Empire which can explain where they come from
The design is easily fixed. (I DO like the contour of the panels, and the concept of an interchangeable armory, keep the hatch on the back) The shoulder design is very nice, simple, like the first Daleks, but needs to be taller, removing the fourth neck ring. I appreciate the time you have taken to put everything in the correct order that now makes more sense to me. I hope more people get to see this and that the BBC is kind to you as it seems quite inflexible at times regarding their ideas of misuse of copyright. Please keep up the good work.
I hope we'll get to see these designs return some day, if only for a single episode. (I know the props were quite heavy to move, and that was a part of why they showed up less and less, so I wouldn't expect a full-time return.) But this video gives me the impression that we've only really caught glimpses of their full history, with the change from supreme to emperor to emperor to parliament and back to supreme. To me that seems to imply there are entire ages of their history we've yet to see!
I REALLY wish these Daleks would have caught on! I actually like the color coding for different ranks! Kinda reminds me of the '60s Dalek movies with Peter Cushing.... And I really thought the design was awesome! I REALLY hate, and always have hated, the gold and bronze color scheme since it was introduced in the new series!

So much information on Daleks that only had one scene focused on them and only a few other background shots. It must have been a tough effort to find all of this, well done
It's sad they stopped using the paradigm Daleks, they were my favourite design by far, they just look so much more menacing than the bronze ones. I wish they could at least make a cameo. Like I'm eve of the Daleks, one of the Daleks was a red paradigm Dalek.
I do like the design, especially the rework in Asylum. I think if they got a few more stories people would accept them but, can’t change the past. Would’ve been nice if in Eve we got the executioner design from Time Lord Victorious
Really like this video! The paradigm and their history has always interested me and this video provides the most straightforward account of their history. How does the Dalek civil war from the doctor who experience factor in to this? It was fought between the paradigm and the “children of Davros” which implies to me that the paradigm lost and explains their absence in magicians apprentice
Here's my headcanon: During or after the Trenzalore campaign, Davros rises once again to power, leading a new (but likely rag tag) faction of Daleks with utmost respect for him in a new bid to crown himself their supreme ruler. During the Paradigm's weakness he manages to win significant victories and even acquire Skaro but theres a catch. His position was precarious thanks to the Paradigm's likely better resources (judging by how it seems he used what he had on hand for his faction compared to the uniform Paradigm) and his Daleks eventually removed him from control in response to his ailing health. Thus Davros had to take desperate measures He becomes obsessed with the Hybrid prophecy and attempts to realize it using his race of Daleks and the last known Time Lord; both in an attempt at saving his own life (thus regaining a position of solid control in his faction) but also give his armies a decided edge over the Paradigm Remnants. The plan unfortunately kinda fails and his forces are in total disarray thanks to the events of Familiar (it's ambiguous if they're still active though). The Paradigm Remnants likely gain a position of strength and retake Skaro, soon after solidifying their influence by expanding their achives with new intelligence and investing in new campaigns for territory, slaves and resources. It's unknown whether the Paradigm amour was decommissioned but I think this is the version of the Dalek race we see active during 13's era and 12s later years
Moffat had the GALL to insert the daleks into his 3rd episode, creating a new generation of daleks, and then proceeded to do nothing interesting with them for his entire run. They may as well not have had names.
Looks like you may have to do an updated video by November 2nd 2022 :P But great video though, The paradigm Daleks are a wasted potential and now that RTD is back the bronze Daleks will be with us for a long long time.
Wait... so did all the Daleks from the New Dalek Paradigm get destroyed by the Flux?, I wonder if the executioner daleks that will be seen in "Eve" be part of the Paradigm, just as the Death Squad Daleks were.
Everything after victory is such a contradictory and poorly structured mess in my opinion, it also completely removed the dynamic between the doctor and the daleks in favour of them just being another race to show up once or twice per season as if it was no big deal.
The Paradigm could've done very well. Its just a shame they didn't use them as a powerful force but instead as you said, another race to show up every now and again. I mean, its what made people think the BBC HAD to make the Daleks appear every series or they'd lose the rights.
Did you know that a green genetics dalek was supposed to be in the new dalek paradigm to replicate the pure dalek dna 🧬 from the eternal dalek in yellow that protect the progenitor devices that store the pure dalek dna to esure the survival of the daleks.
Ah, I see you've seen The Dalek That Time Forgot. Though it is true they were considering adding a Green Paradigm, though Moffat thought it wouldn't work.
I thought blue was the drone but another vid i saw said red was too. Im not keen on the look of these daleks but they were not supposed to look like they do. The backs were supposed to have some kind of equipment or weaponry that was seperate to the dalek or detachable rather than the hunchback design but when it came to making the props they ended up with a compromise. Also the gun and plunger case was supposed to open up and change weapons and appendages but it would have been done with cgi so it never hapoened. If you look at these new daleks from the side and cover the back so it looks stright like a standard dalek they dont look as odd. It makes me wonder what they should have looked like.
You missed on couple of things, there was a audio story where the dalek emperor himself was in a casing and killed the dalek prime, i dont remember which story tho which is the problem less i'm thinking of terror firma if so my mistake
Ah yes! I think it is in Terror Firma since Davros goes so insane he only answers to being called the Emperor. Dalek History is so convoluted, just like the rest of Doctor Who I suppose.
I always knew them as the teletubbies daleks hated them at the time they were shown in Matt Smith's first series but now i rather like them....if they were all one strong colour such as that metallic maroon I think people would of not taken such a instant dislike to them

The idea of a dalek prime minister is totally stupid and so too is the fact the paradigm were replaced due to them suffering too many defeats to the doctor! I mean, every single model of dalek has suffered many defeats to the doctor... so thats a really stupid cheap idea. Also, daleks dont care about design, the paradigm are pure daleks, so theres no difference between them and the bronze daleks of the time war. Just because the casing looks different, the mutant inside is the same. Daleks care about purity not fashion, so they would not get rid of the paradigm, they would merely replenish numbers by using the bronze casing, with pure paradigm mutants inside.
