I found the idea of a Dalek parliament with an elected prime minister as ludicrous as the Doctor apparently did. But the idea of an over-the-top ritual where thousands of Daleks are made to assemble in one place, receive their orders, then just repeatedly shout the orders at each other seems totally in character.

The Dalek prime minister had a very interesting first interaction with the doctor, and the idea of it going insane after it's intro episode about the asylum is deliciously Ironic. But all the same that episodes ending really did stunt its potential along with the rest of the paradigm. Would've enjoyed seeing it bud heads with the white supreme Dalek perhaps in a similar vain that Davros did the Red supreme.

It’s my headcanon that We Are the Daleks actually has a bit of time wibliness going on, and that the 7th Doctor is fighting the New Dalek Paradigm (a reverse of what happens in Prisoner of the Daleks, where the 10th Doctor fights pre-Time War Daleks). Thus, the Prime Minister is indeed Celia Dunthorpe, and the ravaged Skaro with a giant Dalek-shaped building at the beginning of Asylum of the Daleks is the same ravaged Skaro with a giant Dalek-shaped building from the end of We Are the Daleks.
As for the cover art of We Are the Daleks… I’m just ignoring that tbh XD

    • @Solidsnakeprime501

Ding ding ding! We have a winner! Something i think we have to accept is that the cover art is just designed to sell a story and perhaps aid those who lack imagination to visualise things themselves. The imperial daleks have been increasingly more used lately as the standard 7th doctor dalek type. This irks me as the story does not reference this at all. One thing that irked me was on Sullivan and Cross's "scream of the daleks" it boasted the first ever cover art officially of the imperial supreme! And guess what...the daleks in the story seem more like Chase Daleks. Experimenting with time travel and dimensional engineering. And there isnt even a supreme specified in it! This has become more common lately in big finish dalek art. False advertising. Oh look our fancy new black time war commander in gallifrry war room..
Will we specify this dalek and describe it? No? Then it may for all intents and purposes just be another bronze nsd. But the art looks pretty and makes people want to buy it...only to be dissapointed that not only do the daleks barely feature but theyre just bog standard!

The idea of a Dalek Prime minister is a bit silly, but the design is very cool - an interesting evolution on the static emperor idea. I like the idea of it being plugged into all the information and stimulus coming from the dalek pathnet too.

  • @paladinboyd1228

While I do like the idea of a mental battery made up of high ranking Daleks to help their leader think of new ways of winning battles and all, I do wish the prime minister of the Daleks hinted that these Daleks were doing something different like they actually embraced democracy instead of having an emperor as having an emperor a single leader had lead them to failure in the past and they were testing to see if a new way of leadership would ensure Dalek supremacy. Might have been a good bit of lore for the Daleks to show they are not one note and are willing to think outside the box a little bit.

I think it's probably related to how their cases function. In "Into the Dalek" we see the casing that the Dalek's reside in is actively suppressing memories that might lead the Daleks into developing emotions beyond "hatred". In Rusty's case this was the memory of a Star being born

After watching this video and hearing about how the Dalek Prime Minister used the Dalek Pathwep to analyse the Dalek timeline makes me realize that it's similar to my Dalek strategist Supreme where it basically analyses every defeat and victory that the Daleks had and basically uses them as a way to make new plans by seeing what worked and what didn't work. Then adapting Dalek strategy to remove what didn't work. It even has a similar things with the pathwep that the Dalek Prime Minister uses where it can basically receive information from Dalek unites and analyse what they do on the battlefield. Also the whole idea of the super computer is sort of similar as the Strategist Supreme is essentially a super computer.

I always found the concept of the Dalek Parliament strange since democracy isn’t known to the Daleks, they always follow an Autocratic structure to their empire.
However, as an adult it now makes more sense to me since the Paradigm had lost their emperors (since we see two different designs) so needed a new command structure to maintain order in the Dalek empire. The Daleks must have seen other species governments and attempted to implement something similar to their own.
Can I request a video topic for you to cover? I was wondering if you could do a video on how you think the Dalek progenitor device works.
It’s one of my favourite lore elements to the Daleks but it’s never explained how it was able to create brand new Dalek casings for the paradigm. My theory (head canon) is that the Daleks during the time war had stolen/learned Timelord science and implemented it into their own technology such as the progenitor device.
    Do you agree? Xx

Not the best Dalek concept we’ve seen IMO.
I wish we’d kept the Supreme as leader or brought back the emperor or time strategist.
I also think it would have worked better as the supreme council chamber rather than a parliament, with lots of blue strategists and no bronze Daleks.
The bronze boys would have still made an appearance in the asylum and later on in the series in Day of the Doctor set in the time war. Then we revert back to the paradigm design who are ultimately destroyed in Time of the Doctor…

I already knew both were part of the Alliance to trap the Doctor in the Pandorica, but then there was the Flux, the Eternity Cage, and Master of the Daleks; all three of which have the Sontarans defeat the Daleks in one way or another. I wanted to ask if there were other notable times where the Daleks and the Sontarans encountered one another?

I don't like the character. Firstly I find the name dumb Prime Minister? Was that the best they could come up with?
Secondly it's just a Dalek in a glass casing.
Thirdly it seems kind of pointless having a new type of Dalek to outrank the Supreme (why not just bring back the Emperor?) It's sort of like the problem Eric Saward had with the Cyber Controller in Attack of the Cybermen.
Finally there's little to no backstory in the series.
That said I would like it if it came back under a different name and as a member of the Supreme Council. Equal to the Supreme and both answer directly to the Emperor.
I always assumed it was some sort of Intelligence gathering controller using the Parliament to gather data.

You know the idea that the daleks can have a parliament is an interesting idea. Divorces the idea of the fascist inspiration of the daleks from the apparatus of autocratic goveenment. Essentially they go from being very specifically space nazis to the space british empire. Nominally democratic, just as bigoted, hateful, and genocidal, using capitalism as a weapon of war instead of the usual fascist fare of mere cooperating with capitalists to maintain both of their power. Just because a genocidal monster uses democratic systems to get what it wants doesn't mean what it wants isnt evil.
