I always have fond respect towards Blackbox for making The Run, because it's basically modern day, AAA version of Outrun. It's very risky and bold decision to made.
the soundtrack in this game is stellar, makes the game even better than it already is
The Run has one of the best stories in NFS. It was mad fun.

The Run is really fun, and the challenge series was actually well made. I guess people at the time just disliked the price/play-time ratio

Need for Speed The Run is a game which makes hot exotic cars with amazing body kits come to life with the story
for as short as this game is, it's my second favorite NFS Game, right after Pro Street, it's basically an interactive NFS Movie
The Run felt like a movie. A good one.
And I love how accurate the roads are to IRL counterparts. Kinda wish we did more if the bay area after SF. Going from the bay bridge to Sacramento then taking I5 at the West Sac JCT would've been a good few chapters before death valley
This is one of the most criminally underrated NFS games, honestly! The soundtrack, the orchestrated game music, the gameplay, and the story are all so spectacular, despite the story being a bit too short, period. Also, they did the right choice in removing customization, as a game like The Run wouldn't really need it, TBH.

The Run is awesome. That GT500 is the most underrated NFS cover car
It's so underrated until 2023 someone upload RUclips use that car in final race.
@@GF-mf7ml You rarely see that car being talked about outside of NFS The Run. You can't compare to the popularity of cars like Rachels 350z, Eddie's skyline, Rose's 911, The Polestar and etc.
Also, it never reapeared officially in any other game after NFS The run (except for World iirc)

I know the video is about Need For Speed, but BlueTag, I beg you to try Racing Lagoon, it's a weird mix of RPG with racing but it's pretty good, a rare gem from the PS1

This game has an insane story. I love it! I love the whole game, however it was a bittersweet experience since The Run was EA Blackbox’s swan song. RIP

I have never experienced need for speed the run. But looking at it. It seems like a blast and quite possibly the only need tor speed with a very dark story here

I played through The Run last year and it had quite a nice idea and premise that could’ve been revisited again. In fact, I’ve been throwing this idea around for a new game as a massive love letter to the series. A giant Cannonball Run throughout past NFS cities (NFS World is a bit of an influence also) and it also being a way to bring back past characters/cars from past games as well and even tie in the famed “player” from the Underground-Carbon games.
That’s a wonderful idea, however wasn’t the Underground protagonist unrelated to the Carbon protagonist?

Yes.
The Underground protagonist and the MW2005/Carbon protagonist are 2 separate persons without any connections to eachother since they have different goals to achieve.
The UG hero goals are to increase his reputation by winning street races since he was a novice and take his revenge against Caleb Reece because he destroyed his blue Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R during the NFS Underground 2 Prologue which happens 6 months after the ending of NfS Underground 1.
The main objectives of the NFS MW 2005/NFS Carbon hero are to get back his BMW M3 E46 GTR which was stolen by Razor due to cheating and sabotage And unfold the truth about what happened the night when he flees Palmont City with Darius's Toyota Supra MK4.
Plus, their respective duologies happens in different continuities And the scenario writer of NFS MW 2005 called Adrian Vershinin confirmed that NFS Underground 2 and NFS MW 2005 are not related to eachother in anyway.
When Rog says his quote "Well, look what the Underground let loose. Let’s see how good you'd do in the daylight", it's actually a 4th Wall break for players which played NFS Underground 2 before NFS Most Wanted 2005.
It also counts as a proof for the MW/Carbon protagonist which originates from Palmont City that has also a Underground Racing scene which happens in the night like in Olympic City and Bayview.
Medal of Honor Warfighter used the same engine as NFS the run for one mission which involved driving. I remember Armake21 (R.I.P) playing it and being super confused to why his game shifted monitors and was at 30fps iirc. The Run was an odd game in the series. I enjoyed it for a product of it's time. Would I return to it? Probably not. Theirs much better racing games than it even in the NFS series. It's lack of replayablity in favor of a linear story and gameplay really made it "Battlespeed Bad Run" to quote a late friend. I may be forgetting some of this game it was maybe 12 years ago when this came out, jesus 2011 was 13 years ago. I'm getting old.

While it's lacking in handling physics and customization (at least for me), what hook me up for NFS The Run is definitely the CINEMATIC EXPERIENCE and they're aware to focusing on that aspect. Also, that avalanche stage? Holy Shit.
It's fun game nonetheless.
