- Dive into Def Jam: Fight for New York - The sequel to Vendetta as we take a look at the things that made the game so special to so many people. As always, my videos are more of a "my experience" type of content than a real review, but I hope you enjoy it anyway!

To add context to how the series came to be: Vendetta in its initial stages was a proper wrestling game for the now defunct World Championship Wrestling promotion since EA had the license at the time and two games were released beforehand (Mayhem and the infamously bad Backstage Assault). After WCW would close in 2001, rather than scrapping the game, the game would evolve into what we know it as today, big name rappers in a wrestling ring.
This should be in a museum, showing that the ephemeral lawlessness of the early 2000s was no joke.
Got a lot of memories with this one, in Mexico there are these like arcades machines we call
Maquinitas,
we all were poor people on my neighbourhood, se we gother like 8 kids playing on the same machine
Learning the songs, playing our characters against the other's
Really fun times
that's awesome hahah
never heard of those! they had ps2 games in them?
@@BlooTeg ps2, Xbox og, and xbox360
Games like NFSU2, midnight club, burnout
Probably the reason i love your channel? Hahaha
@alejandrosaldana3649 I used to go to Mexico alot and I know what you were talking about like 20 or so for an hour to play on these things made going to Mexico so much more fun
I’ve never really played fighting games my whole life. Truth be told I’m absolutely garbage at them. But despite that I’ve put countless hours into FFNY. The premise, art style and soundtrack are enough to keep me coming back to this game religiously and that’s all on top of the actual fighting mechanics themselves
loved seeing Blue stick out like a sore thumb in his outfits lol
looking F R E S H
Vendetta's thing was that it was still a wrestling game which Fight for New York proceeded to loosen up. Glad it gets love regardless.
I`ll probably give it a fair chance again!
Early 2000s was wild my big brother bought the game coming home from a trip out side the city, we turned it on and had a blast of good times of our lifes man what an era we had …
there is actually a fighting game tournament in Florida that has FFNY as a part of its game roster. The commentators are top tier for the game calling and fit so well.
Also, Sticky FIngaz is the most busted character in the game cuz his hitbox extends a bit farther out than other characters. Redman can literally combo u to death with 2 punches, stopping for a second and then resuming the combo followed by either a flying kick or a wall grab. Its pretty insane how much cheese some top tier characters have
I saw that some of them even got banned in tournaments haha awesome stuff
I prefere using Ice-T and Xzibit
thank you for making a video on this Gem, i used to post the whole in-game OST including the unreleased ones bc how good the OST really is man.
This series (minus Icon) were great! I remember having a friend in high school that had some "connections." and he was able to get me a copy of Def Jam Vendetta on release day for $20. I have had so much fun with this game over the years; Vendetta is top 10 all time for me because of the memories playing it. FFNY is a great game too, and it came out when I had first joined the US Air Force and had more money to spend, so it was a day one purchase for me that I still own the same copy to this day! Thanks for the walk down memory lane!
glad I could bring some memories back!
3:56 - Henry Rollins literally tells you how to counter attacks. It helps to read to read messages.
damn message reading tutorials
Vendetta I could never figure out the controls Fight for New York was still a bit stiff I couldn’t enjoy it. Best part is Redman always running his mouth. 😂
and sleeping. my man literally sleeps 80% of the game LOL
Vendetta was my childhood bro. I played Joe Budden and Redman exclusively. Joe Budden's song Focus from that game was so good
I know its a FFNY video btw, but I never played that
I cant see this game without thinking of the Vinnie clip of the corrupted version of the game.
VINNY DID A DEF JAM CORRUPTION VIDEO?
@BlooTeg Yeah, its a compilation of a few games, but the defjam one is cursed.
Played this so much in my youth that I'm suprised I never wore it out. I remember reading recently that the PSP version Take Over I think was called? Could combine the same fight style more than once so there were so many style combinations to play with out of the 3 choice limit.
Though the PSP version had some content cut for limitations it would have been great to do the same in the original.
That intro was fantastic
Lmao, I played this game with my dad back in the 2000s. I'm playing this game right this weekend with my lil brother. Game surpasses generations and still holds up.
I made AT LEAST 100 fighters since then, and completed the campaign 100% with 80 to 90% of them.
Addendum: one of the voices you can pick for your character is Eminem, with another name in some credits. So you can drop Snoop Dog from a Building with a kickboxing Slim Shady.
"for a fight in the Ring of Fire" HEH.... there's a Johnny Cash joke somewhere in there...
I went down down down
and the flames went higher
Finally you played that (imo) masterpiece :D
hell yeah!
Holy shit, your character is canonically 6.5 and 185lbs... God damn that's terrifying to think about.
Im 5.7
the ultimate creature
I really played this because Xzibit was in it 😅, gave up at the Ice-T story mode, then Gameshark it out. Good times
Never heard of this game before watching you stream it live! I'll have to check it out myself sometime haha Great video as always Blue!
definitely do! thank you!
Def Jam fight for NY: Goated!! Tbh I prefer it than Vendetta not really a wrestling fan but damn this game was really good also the PSP version kinda felt like a discount version of the PS2 version
Hi Bluetag, I was wondering if you ever played Modnation racers on the PS3? I heard it was popular at its time, ans the servers for user created content are long dead, but I've always been curious.
I think I played it once? It does seem familiar but I'm not sure
This game is so hard to find i swear
Love the video man. Glad to see another classic here. I managed to keep my gf alive if I remember clearly. Maybe that's just cope 😅
best game ever
one thing you could have mentioned is that, do NOT play the gamecube version, it is seriously gutted in content AND the graphics are much worse.
oh that's news to me, I didn't try that one!
This game was so damn cool back then to the point that it became part of my most played ones on the PS2 when i was younger. Fight for NY was just so damn good
*rapping* look at mah' grills, no one touching that
*gets beaten up*
I play this game alongside need for speed most wanted, still got my old GameCube. I got melee and sunshine. Best childhood ever.
I didn't own any of these games, but I did use to have 50 Cent Blood On The Sand for Xbox 360. That was a fun Gears of War clone.
D-mob recovers from his injuries and you face him in the junkyard after hours once you beat the story.
Never knew you were playing Def jam here. One of the best fighting games here. Def jam new york being one of the best here.
Im saddned we don't get games like that anymore. Gotta blame def jam icon for that :(
DEF JAM FFNY MENTIONED LETS GOOOOO
This game was my first experience of seeing my created character actually talk, other games I played with a created character were always silent, so I was blown away seeing my created character speak fr the first time.
Po, joguei d+ esse aí!!! Um dos grandes do PS2!! Diversão garantida com customização urbana muito louca, treinamento e aprendizado de varios estilos e golpes, música rap da boa e , claro, muita pancadaria!!!!
"Come and take a walk with me"
Damn youtube decided to stop notifying me
apparently happening to a lot of people D:
Happy 13th anniversary, BlueTag!!
🇨🇭🎉🎉🎉🎉
13?? Holy crap!
I love this game a lot
Actually the game does tell you about countering normals. You get an email from Henry Rollins during the story mode where he explains how it works.
sounding
Fanfac...Maximilian dood loves it
And probably he responds for traction
Maaan i miss this series. Its a shame it was followed by Icon and then abandoned. I get Icon wasn the greatest but the series still had potential. Lose the rhythm combat but keep the build a label
When games were games
gooooood times!
Waiting for driver san francisco.
its sooo sad to see how EA executes our dreams
Good things don’t last
amo ver esse canal crescendo
amém
Once a friend of mine invited me to play this on their PS2, they won two fights by submission and I refused to touch the game ever again.
LOL submission is so annoying.
My favorite blue beaver 🦫
HELLO
YEEEAAH THIS GAME FUCKS!!
I'll start saying games "fuck" when they're good too
Day idk of asking for nfs heat vid
He definitely will skip all the none dusty games
no
I used to love playing this game with my cousins as a kid on the PS2. Ice T would make us so frustrated, he had no business knowing martial arts.
Fseeee
man this game's a fuckin classic, i remember seeing my brother playing it on the ps2 and always having a hard time beating Crack, Trejo, Skull, Sean Paul and Ice-T. then finding out there's a PSP port of it and played the hell out of it. good fucking times
