The whole concept of making a Cannonball type racing game is so cool. I could see it becoming like a DLC to newer games, Unbound even. For this you don't even need to make too much maps and you don't have to worry about technical stuff like when you're making a open world game, you just need some linear tracks and few technical parts. You could do so much fun stuff around this concept!
You should check out Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune 6, it is a bit similar to NFS The Run in some ways, where you race on a wangan highway. Though it's no a cannonball style, but it is something :)

It was only rushed cuz EA put a competition Criterion Games and Blackbox studios to see what need for speed would come out better via reviews and sales. Nfs hot pursuit (Made by criterion games) Won because hot pursuit came out way earlier then The run...which in my opinion is upsetting cuz The run had so much done to it. but both are good games regardless.

The run is actually a good game imo. The concept of a non-stop race is fun. Sure it lacks any kind of car, mods and it's a big - for me, there are other problems too, but overall it's fun and that's what matters
the game had special gamemodes online where you only drove through certain parts of the certain cities and some were scripted differently or had different routes

I beat this game when my mom rented it from a video store for a week. My most vivid memory is how hard the first Calvin Garrett race was for me, and how I finally won that race: Calvin had, somehow, managed to get enough air to land on top of a tractor, and I panned my camera right to see his red SLR tumbling, longways, down the road. I even did it with the same car, in the same color. The Nissan GTR has been one of my favorite cars since.

I love to play racing games when I have a purpose to progress. Playing this game on Extreme difficulty enhances the game experience even more. Sure changing cars is tough but the scenery/map design, and the story is a really good package. Idk about multiplayer but I loved this game. Imo better than most nfs games we are getting nowadays. Heat was good tho
