"Rockets in TF2 are not particularly fast compared to some other projectiles"
I'd like to point out that, in TF2, crossbow bolts, syringes, arrows, and a meat cleaver are all faster than _a rocket._
Makes sense
Funny how that never struck me as odd
syringes are slower but yeaa
Keep in mind that meat cleaver was yeeted by a fast Boston crackhead with a super shotgun
@@cyanideytandcuriousseadogg4160 he also survives chugging actual RADIATION
Do Spy or Medic next, they actually changed A LOT.
I feel like both TF2 classes would win pretty quickly. Uber and cloak are pretty damn strong.
@cheezkid26 Not sure about spy here, but I'm pretty sure TFC Medic stomps tf2. Uber doesn't really help if Medic can't attack during it, and the only thing that Medic potentially has is Melee on his side. Meanwhile TFC can literally infect and do pretty good damage, he has far better weapons compared to the syringe gun (heck he has a super syringe gun), and has regeneration also. From what I know, TF2 Medic is only good for support, and TFC is good for fighting for themselves.
I'd say TFC Med vs TF2 Scout would be 10x cooler to see.
yeah tf2 is an easy win for both
@@wesleyfuccaro8821nah tfc medic is better
Spy in tfc is better cause it has a shotgun, poison grenades which infect you until you die, he has grenades, bhop and many stabs like neck stab for example. In tf2 you can look back and kill the spy but in tfc, if he catch you up, you are dead
I like how fast he just gave up when he suggested the Bison.
"The rocket launcher VS the other rocket launcher"
Ah, truly a battle for the ages.
I feel like TFC's rocket launcher having higher knockback and slower rockets might give them a significant disadvantage against TF2 soldier in a direct 1 on 1, making it harder to track and land hits where TF2's rocket jumping is such an integral part of soldier's kit it would be easier to out maneuver and turn that to your advantage
Nah, it takes more skill to play with slow rockets, also you forgot about bhop. Scouts main are better than soldier mains in 1v1, now imagine that scout with more speed and a rocket launcher
@@franagustin3094 this fight wouldn’t have anything to do with player skill, and if we are taking height advantage the tf2 soldier would be better at air shots due to faster rockets and better at attacking from the air
Also found the scout main that hates direct hit solider’s
@@geoshark12 You have to take skill if you want to talk about 1v1 and tfc soldier is used to deal with faster players than tf2 soldier, so no, tfc soldier is better at attacking from the air. In addition, scout is stronger than soldier because of his movement, tfc soldier is faster than tf2 soldier because of bhop and with grenades is an easy lost for tf2 soldier which also would be losing his health because of rocket jumping which gives advantage for tfc soldier, who can damage from far with shotgun. Slow rockets take more skill too
@@franagustin3094 lol definitely a scunt
@@franagustin3094 if were going with “skill” instead of raw stats like the actual video then you would have to include the things from the comics as well as the unlock weapons in which case tf2 solider would win with a neck snap
What's hilarious is, this came out just minutes after I finished my binge of the rest of the series
no way man me too. i was sad there was no more and now it came out hell yea
10:18 Actually, it's not based on the distance the rocket was fired from, it's based on the distance the soldier is from his target. I know this not just from playing way too much soldier (doing sync-rocket divebombing), but there's a video out there somewhere (forgot who made it, sorry) who showed a soldier taking a teleporter to appear next to his target while the rocket travelled, and when it arrived it did max damage rampup.
i guess it was shounic
Same thing with the wrangler on Engie. Gotta love Source Spaghetti
6:02 this is the most dramatic spy death i have ever seen
Very interested to see Demoman, the weapons are so similar in concept yet function pretty differently
Plus, classic Demoman having the Single Barrel Shotgun might make it the only time in history that weapon wasn't worthless. Maybe.
I would think the single barrel shotgun still would not be good, It deals tiny damaged compared to the other stuff in his kit.
@@figro1988 Yeah, it does piss poor damage, but unless I'm remembering wrong, TFC Demoman doesn't have really anything that can hit people from long range, so low damage is better than no damage at that range
You're forgetting, tf2 soldier can't die after taking merasmus' entire bottle of "kill me come back stronger" pills. Victory by attrition
Fun Fact: Rocket Damage Falloff in TF2 is calculated by player distance to the explosion, not distance traveled.
Spy's death at 6:01 was way more dramatic than it had any right being
L4d zombie ahh death
I'm fairly confident that medic vs medic will be the only stomp for tfc. Not only does classic have the double barrel shotgun, but tf2 medic has what is clearly baby man's nail gun for damage unless he wants to risk getting in melee range.
Edit: What the frick happened in the replies?
It really depends on how how rank them, since tfc med is a powerful combat class and tf2 med is pretty worthless in combat but his healing and uber win entire games
If you count combat for medic then TFC has an obvious advantage but as a support class medic outclasses TFC so hard it's not even funny.
"But what kind of unlocks would It's the crossbow."
@@zebaguettefromfrance1287tfc also heals too. Not better than tf2 medic but he can
@@franagustin3094 yes but comparing TFC medic's medkit to the unparalleled game destroying potential of ubercharge just doesn't leave much room for argument. Ludwig is the king of support hands down.
AH. You're back. I was actually scared.
Me too!!
@@SquimJim hey can you do medic vs medic next?
I couldn’t in good conscience put TF2 soldier under any other soldier. He IS the face of unrepentant stupid violence and power. Glory to our Stars and Stripes Savant!
2:53 I see you reusing that market garden footage, Squim. You can't fool me!
I did it ONE time! Now I'll reuse the footage for all eternity.
I think Medic Vs Medic would be cool but making the video into 2 separate parts.
1-seeing which medic is the best at playing offensively
And 2-seeing which medic is the best at playing supportively.
(Mostly to let TF2 Medic stand a chance.)
TFC medic
-has real weapons (shootguns super needlegun Crowbar
-has grenades
-can protect himself
-can bunnyhop even fast than scout
-can poise enemy team with his medkit
-no one forces you to only heal people
Tf2 medic
-can ubercharge
-very bad weapons expect crussider
-hard to protect yourself even if you try to fight people will make fun of you
-can become powerfull with heavy
-has normal fast
-Cant go war zone without somoene
-his purpose more like just healing people more than fighting...
-The everyone loves but nobody plays
-entire team calls him and it makes him mad
Tfc medic=Combat Medic
Tf2 medic=Medic...
@@zussman_ TFC medic also had conc grenades alongside the regular ones he can jump with.
Imo in a 1v1 tfc medic annihilates tf2 medic and its not even close. He's so much faster and has much better equipment.
Think of it this way: tf2 medic *helps* you win games, tfc medic WINS the game.
@@superbrainz2357 kinda the point of the original comment. TFC is much more capable as it’s own class, while TF2 is built to rely on teamwork and strategy. Same reason it’s difficult to fight a heavy or demoman as a medic, unless you do some goofy ubersaw switching shit.
@@zussman_ every single class becomes powerful with heavy
TFC medic is better at healing. He can heal someone at 1 HP to full in less than a second with the med kit.
TFC soldier having grenades also meant he could "double blast jump" mid air similar to how the Beggars Bazooka lets you overload jump.
Please do Engineer next, engineer may be interesting since buildings have been thrown into the mix.
(Also, aren’t the engineers relatives? If so, it would be cool to see who upheld their legacy better).
With buildings, tf2 engi win. Without them, tfc engi win because of EMP (that shit is the most unbalanced weapon of tfc)
Tfc engie is tf2 engie's dad
what did the emp do?
@@dande3208 It has a long range of distance, his damage traspass walls (if the emp is up to you, you will die cause its effect) and it gives you an instantly dead, not matter if you are full of health. Many engis use the emp for surprise attacks and it was unfair because you never knew when it was coming
Unrelated, but I happen to have that minifig in your profile pic!
I still think counting grenades is pretty dumb, because in if you're gonna count something specific only for tfc why not count something specific only for tf2 by getting unlockables into the mix, or just as I wrote above, not count grenades at all.
Because grenades are base kit for tfc classes and unlockables are not.
@@superbrainz2357 still, it's a dumb freebie
hoo, that was quick! glad to see this channel back in action
keep in mind with the damage output that grenades can give a BIG boost in burst damage, you can land a rocket and grenade at the same time. I do however think that the crazy knockback from the tfc rockets could be a hindrance to a soldier not used to them, I forgot how insane it is
I waited a year for a new TF2 VS TFC video. It was worth it.
I literally binged this series last night and there’s already a new episode. How!?
When it comes to TFC shotgun versus TF2 shotgun, I think you should call it based off of what class uses it, since different classes have uses for the shotgun. Like for Soldier, the shotgun is much more of close range weapon since the rocket launcher self damage is too dangerous for most close range fights, meaning the TF2 shotgun is better. But for Pyro (and to a lesser extant Heavy) the shotgun is more for picking off targets outside of your flamethrowers range or finishing low health targets running away, meaning the better range of the TFC shotgun is more important. It’s super subjective, but reflects the usefulness more imo
Holy ravioli is that me who appears on the description???!!!!
I'd say this is the most mathematically involved episode of TF2 VS TFC. Must have been a massive headache
I think you kind of skimped on the details for rocket jumping. Yes, they are essentially equivalent in terms of health cost, but what else? Who jumps higher? Who can go faster? Is rocket jumping as necessary for movement in TFC as in TF2?
Theyre essentially the same to be honest. The main difference being TFC can bunnyhop out of a rocket jump in a way TF2 can't really.
@@SquimJim on the other hand faster rockets means that you can bomb much more safely.
@@vyor8837on the other hand, a grenade destroy soldier and you forgot his main grenade which take you the half of health. Rolls out would be a death for tf2 soldier and in distance, tfc soldier beat him
@@franagustin3094 you know. If the TFC guy could *hit* TF2 Soldier with those grenades... which he can't do.
And, uh, Tf2 soldier can walk out of the way of TFC's rockets, it's much harder to do that with TF2 soldier rockets unless you're playing Scout.
@@vyor8837 do you think he can't touch tf2 soldier with grenades? In the first moment that tf2 soldier go to floor, he would lost 75% of his health because of nail grenade and his rollouts. And tfc soldier is faster than scout if you add bhop, I don't think tf2 soldier is walking out all tfc soldier rockets
having a lot of rockets make enemy TFC engineer smile
This is such a fun series!
I love seeing two of my favorite games being compared!
Wonder who's gonna compete next?
Engineer? Medic?
Hope you continue this series!
TFC has the power
But the TF2 Soldier has the charisma lol
More like TFC has the health boost, the TF2 has the damage boost.
@@apolloknight9521 in close ranges, yes, medium they are Kinda in a tie, and long-range tfc lack of damage falloff is insane, especially with the shotguns, it's warframe all over again where shotguns fell more like mini snipers lol
@MariaFlores-KAII Shotgun pellets are easy to dodge? Hit-scan weapon? Ok...
@MariaFlores-KAII And the dude you've replied to was clearly talking about shotguns. Learn to read before replying to someone. ☺
I'd say TF2 should've won the shotgun round for Soldier. Yes the TFC double barrel shotgun is more consistent at longer ranges, but Soldier already has mid-to-long range covered with his rockets, so the much higher close range effectiveness of TF2's shotgun is more useful to him
No? TF2 doesn't cover long range with his rockets, they're unreliable for that. They deal worse damage than TFC super-shotgun. Also TFC soldier can simply avoid rockets lol. And why would he come closer if he has range advantage? So no, you're just wrong.
@@fantastikboom1094 We're not talking sniper sightline levels of distance here. That's why I said "mid to long range."
A major weakness of the rocket launcher is you can't use it at super close ranges without damaging yourself, and the TF2 shotgun is much more effective at close range than the TFC double barrel, so it covers that weakness better. The range the double barrel is effective at is more or less the same range that the rocket launcher goes out to, so it doesn't grant a range advantage and it doesn't cover the close range weakness.
new SquimJim upload? YIPPEE!
Hooray!! Its finally back up, glad to see you back
Oh my gosh, just when I started rewatching the whole tfc vs tf2 series, this comes out!? Talk about timing.
I'd love to see an Engi vs. Engi battle. Not only would it come down to the buildings and what they can do, but how fast they can be built and how much metal they cost to fully build first stage and upgrade it.
RIP Rick May
Rocket jump your way to heaven to give god a sensible haircut
Been waiting for this, great video as always 👍
Fun fact about Grenades: In TF2 pre release. The soldier and other classes were suppose to have grenades but it was overall cut
With good reason. Grenade Spam.
Finally, a new TFCvTF2!
id love to see the tfc weapons get imported into tf2, maybe with more extreme adjustments to how they worked to make them more distinct from their newer counterparts
Single barrel shotgun would make for a funny fatscout weapon
Wake up babe! After Breakfast uploaded a new tfc vs tf2 video!
Finally a new video about. Tfc vs tf2 I've been waiting for this episode for so long and that's now here. Let's go.
10:20 A little correction: It's distance between the rocket impact and the shooter at moment of impact.
He is back!
You DO have to remember that some of these lose because of Engine Limitations. Plus, they were porting a Quake Game to GOLDSRC.
TFC Soldier: You should stop, you're bleeding.
TF2 Soldier: I don't have time to bleed!
I think after you cover all of the TFC vs TF2 mercs, maybe do the ones from Quake World: Team Fortress? Some of them from what I’ve seen are fundamentally similar, but at the same time are radically different.
How about next time we do Medic vs Medic instead of comparing damage though we compare heal rates and see which is better? Or maybe overall damage + healing not sure how you would precisely go about that one.
I think he should take the closest battle from the other classes and check for a medic + other class pair who wins
I happened to search "The evolution of tf2" and saw you upload, nice
The Double Barrel Shotgun would probably be a great exclusive shotgun for Heavy
Speaking of the original original, have you considered comparing the classes to their quake team fortress counterparts?
Tf2 won in all except maybe in demoman and soldier (qwtf has the original). Demoman in qwtf was offensive like tf2 demo but it has grenades too
“Little bit of an upset”
…quite an understatement (correction a huge one) considering Soldier is my favorite class in game and having him lose this round hurts. I’m more upset TF2 Soldier lost this round. I was hoping he could win! “Would having his unlocks push the edge for TF2?”
Yes… it would if he had his unlocks he would win. You pointed out the Direct Hit could diminished half of TFC Soldier’s Health, especially with the speed of said rocket. It’s going to be a bit hard for me playing when soldier by the reminder he lost to his counterpart. But I’m still going to anyways, because I’ll not let some video comparison discourage me from playing my favorite TF2 Character since most of it is opinion based.
You may say Soldier lost, but I and many others, see him win by default. Both heart and soul. While I still disagree with the outcome of this match, I do want to see the other versus you have planned,
i have been waiting for this for so long
Pyro main here, I would like to thank you for giving that phlog pyro a speed boost as he was pushing out. It's little things like this that almost make me revert back into a medic main.
feels like the double barrel shotgun is just a alternate weapon.
Nope, it’s a default weapon.
@Maria Flores oh, because I felt they should at least include panic attack if other guy has 2 shotguns
ok but why do grenades' and bunnyhop count as free victory for tfc in that case tf2 should have a free win for unlocks as both are a massive part of the game smh.
Have to let the tfc have something 😂
“If you know what’s best for you, you will run” -Solider TF2
I feel like including bunny hopping and grenades (mechanics exclusive to TFC) while excluding any and all unlocks (a mechanic unique to TF2) feels a bit unfair.
The main goal was to compare default abilities to default abilities. Generally adding unlocks into the mix provides an unnecessary advantage to TF2. Where TF2 overall has more powerful weapons, adding ones with specialized uses tends to skew things. As of right now the TF2 vs TFC videos have been somewhat one sided toward TF2 without the need for any unlocks.
@@SquimJim except this one. I’m still salty with Soldier losing this round because of a health factor.
tf2 soldier wins because I say so

I cant wait to see the next One of this series
legendary series is back BABY
Nice, which class is next?
Man finally another one of these videos
I can’t wait for Civilian vs. Payload
Spy has always been the most fascinating one for a comparison simply because of how the direct 1v1 would work. Like simply put the invisibility seems like it forces that to be a tie because it’d be impossible to realistically fight them with that in play.
The match tf2 favored because spy can stay invisible longer, meaning he's more likely to catch tfc out of cloak, and unlocks makes this even more so
@@calebbarnhouse496 Tfc spy doesnt cloak, he plays dead.
Also you're underestimating his vastly superior arsenal of gas grenades which would make tf2 spy hallucinate, a dart gun that would cripple 2's movement speed, and a double barrel shotgun that can easily match the revolver.
Tf2 spy's best bet is he cloaks away and can catch tfc off guard which isnt happening in a 1v1. Even worse since some knives straight up make spy weaker.

Medic vs Medic next
Great video!
I highly doubt squim's gonna see this but if he does, how do you figure out the effective health for TFC with health and armor combined?
I just really want to know.
You "redirect" some damage to the armour HP, making it take damage than your own HP. Remember, you don't die if your armour runs out of HP. Heavier armour often has more HP and "redirects" an increased percentage. For example, if a class has 40HP and light armour (30%) that has 20 HP, and it takes 27 damage, the armour takes 9 damage, and the class takes 18 damage. The armour absorbs 30% of the damage to itself.
In the case of this video, soldier has 100 HP and heavy armour with 200HP that absorbs 80% damage. A 100 damage attack will deal 80 damage to the armour, and only 20 to the soldier.
Note that if armour breaks, it stops working. According to the above statement alone, soldier could take 500 damage if the armour never broke. However, the video shows soldier can only tank 300 damage. This is because 300 damage will deal 240 damage to the armour and 60 damage to the soldier. The 40 HP that the armour couldn't take went to the soldier at 100% power, thus dealing a total of 100 damage to the soldier and killing him.
Another note is that armour is NOT extra HP. If a class had 100 HP and armour which had 10000 HP but absorbed 10% of the damage, that class would still be dead if it took 120 damage, and the armour would only have taken 12 damage. But what's the point of armour if you are dead.
Yeah, No's comment summed it up perfectly!
@@No-vy4jp Thank you! Also thanks for the quick reply.
I wonder if Squim will do a 2nd season or such, or a extras video after TFC videos, where he DOES include unlocks.

Two words...Market Gardener
A 195 Garden crit paired with a point blank 112 rocket equal 307 damage, barely enough kill TFC Soldier with it in just a swing and a rocket

are you ever gonna do engi? i read somewhere that the big reason the tf2 launch maps feel so bad to play is because they were lifted out of TFC without taking into account that engi was weaker in classic and i wanna see that put to the test
The reason why I assume the insendiary cannon and Rock luchar haver that dmg inconsistency, is because maybe TFC still has the old removed mechanic of random dmg spread that tf2 used to have
YES! it's been 84 years!

You know, if you where to include the spell book, one of the few extra default items that has no mode restrictions, and the one that it does have being able to be activated at any time, it would be an interesting way to deal with the B-hopping and grenades. Then again, it may be too broken, as that and the unlocks would give TF2 soldier a very large advantage against TFC soldier, but it would be nice to include the default power items.
And when the world least expected it, tf2 vs tfc returned
