In the second we grabbed Dalvin Cooks brother, the best YAC HB in the draft to give to Josh Allen whose receivers were last in the NFL in YAC last season. In the third they drafted a LB who appears to be a perfect genetic duplicate of Matt Milano to be Matt Milanos backup. In the 5th they got one of the drafts best athletic freak WRs in Kalil Shakir who is also a YAC machine. And in the 6th they replaced their atrocious punter with punt god Araiza. Matt Haack was abominable for the Bills at punter which is good for how frequently they used him. Now imagine the one time a game you get Josh Allen to punt and you get the field completely flipped on you? Sneaky good draft that filled a ton of holes across the roster.
They were already probably the most complete team and then they have that monster of a draft. If I wasn’t rooting for them to win the super bowl I would be scared.
Early returns aren't promising though Elam and Shakira look fine. cooks they don't use much so he may be good. araiza fell cause of the rape allegations, bills should have passed instead of wasting a 6th and cutting him anyway. The LB we'll see but with Milano out vs the jets bills defense could not stop the run. All early returns but not looking as much of a steal as it seemed
I think stingley is gonna translate amazingly to the nfl especially with his experience in lsu training with jamaar, however I do agree his injury is a little concerning, but he looks amazing, I’m excited for what he can do for our secondary

This and the draft retrospectives are my favorite videos of yours, as someone who watches no college football and just hears names when mock draft time comes around (to the point where I ask my friend after every Jets pick "Should I be happy?") to get a little background to each of these players after the fact will make my watching experience a whole lot better next season. Thank you!
Here's my thing with the Packers draft. 0 WRs were taken between 22 and 33. So we got two solid players to fill our biggest defensive need and still got the receiver we would've got if we drafted him 22 or 28. it all works our rather well.
Exactly. We would've probably picked Watson at 22 or 28 if we went WR, but we addressed our defense, which just got even better, and got our guy at 34. I actually like how Gute handled the draft, didn't reach for a position of need just to pick in the 1st, but drafted for best player available and still got insane talent. Shame people can't see past the "no WR in the first round" narrative....
@@robertcrawford1421 anyone that gives the Packers shit because we didn't get a WR with the first pick - and then says it was a shitty draft altogether - are people who don't actually understand football. @@UrinatingTree right I agree, and I just mean that it seemed like QBs were gonna go higher. @@Machturtle7491 I'm really not upset about how their draft panned out, maybe they should have gone o-line somewhere but Pickett was the clear #1 and once everyone else fell out of the 5th-year option first round territory it was no surprise they fell to the 3rd. I still think they got the best guy this year and Mitch may turn out way better than expected. Regardless I think they truly upgraded at every single position and are in good shape for the future.
it's appropriate that he was the one who welcomed Kenny Pickett to the club I hope that lad has one hell of a career in black and gold maybe we'll all start calling him "Mister Pittsburgh"
This was a VERY deep draft. No true generational talent, but you'll be hard pressed to find anyone who'll really lost here in a few years. The 2022 Draft will fill a ton of roster spots going forward (as in long after the usual washouts, this class looks to have staying power)
Honesty really disappointed in Kwesi in MN. He was supposed to bring new life to Minnesota, and his draft was just role playing as a shittier Rick Spielman. That trade back with Detroit was awful in terms of what you got back.
Shit, im fine with the trade. It doesnt look great on paper, but imo, since the draft was pretty deep it helped us get not just lewis cine(who jerry jones apparently had at #13 on his draft board), but also let us trade back with the packers and grab booth at 42(who a lot of people had going in the 1st). I think he just valued cine and booth vs kyle hamilton, which I agree with because we're not 1 kyle hamilton away from being contenders, we need good players and we also really need depth. Along with picks like ed ingram and brian asamoah, I think the vikings had a really good draft. Guess only time will tell though.
Does it seem crazy that maybe the Vikings/Lions trade for this draft came with a potential trade for Hockenson once the Lion's playoffs hopes were completely dead.
eh i think lock might surprise a lot of people. the guy was never a bad QB, the moment you go through his film and count the number of dropped passes and screwed up routes by his receivers it becomes clear that his issues stemmed from bad coaching and bad receivers. in a better environment with a coach who can actually develop him and receivers who can actually catch i feel hes going to put up wins.
It would've been smart for you guys to trade for Baker Mayfield. Low risk high reward move. If it doesn't work out, you can replace him with a rookie in 2023 and the only con is a loss of money for this year. If Baker proves to be good, Seahawks would already be playoff contenders again this year and he'd be a solid long-term solution at QB.
@@neildalessandro8196 Cleveland has zero leverage when it comes to trades and they’re asking way too much right now. Teams are just waiting for them to release him
@@donnyg9993 And if Cleveland doesn't? Then a year of Baker's career is wasted, and he's most certainly one of the best 32 QBs in the league. No reason he can't start somewhere. It's not like these other teams are being any less petty than the Browns right now.
Random-ish: but I went to high school with Ikem Ekwonwu. Wasn’t very close with him, but had a few computer science classes with him and saw him around the locker room all the time. Man, I have so much PTSD from watching Bills' drafts in the 21st century, so I was worried that Beane was gonna try and reach on RB in round 1 since things are very uncertain with Singletary right now. CB was exactly what I wanted to see, and while Elam wasn't who I'd hoped for, I'm sold on him. His work ethic and attitude are exactly the kind of thing that causes one to go far in a system like McDermott's, so I'm excited to see how he'll pan out.

Getting James Cook in the second round was huge for them. Buffalo needs a bellcow running back and I believe he can be it.
His ceiling really is HoF if the injuries aren't long-term damage
Did you know that he’s related to Darryl Stingley, former wide receiver for the New England Patriots who was hit so hard by Jack Tatum that he was paralyzed?
Dude hasn’t had great production for about 2 years now.
Thank you!
I pray the Jets finally get things together. I’m so ready for this team to not be a joke anymore
1:15 Hutchinson had an absolute stud year with the Lions. Best pick Lions could have made. Tree nailed it
Here's my thing with the Packers draft.
They just spout off what they heard the Packers needed pre-draft and dug in their heels when it didn't happen. It's hilarious really.
Edit: I'm a little confused about the commentary from Tree. In one take, he says the Packers fucked up by not taking a WR in the first round. In the next, he says we traded up to grab one, who is said to be an immediate playmaker for us. But somehow, that means we still hate Rodgers?
This was, without a shadoow of doubt, the most entertaining draft of all time.
Another banger video by Tree here folks. I'm guessing the next video is The Haters Guide to the 2021/22 NHL Season: Debriefing where we will all see Tree slam Vegas.
I'm glad the Jets didn't buttfumble the picks and hopefully they can develop them well
The Kenny Pickett narrative just aged so horribly it turned into gold😂😂😂
I used to watch Tree for the humour, but it’s the knowledge that keeps me coming back. Best breakdown I’ve watched.
This is a year in hindsight.... but highlighting a 49er in a Kittle jersey taking a photo of Brock Purdy at 21:33 was some epic low key foreshadowing. Tree is truly a Nostradamus, if only on accident! 😆
I really think if the Steelers knew that Willis was gonna fall to the third round they would have picked him then and gotten a WR and tackle in the first 2 rounds
A WR would've been a reach in the first round. They may have gone Linderbaum if that were the case. They'd have picked QB over Leal, though (even though I really like Leal).
@@UrinatingTree right I agree, and I just mean that it seemed like QBs were gonna go higher. I know Tomlin and Colbert loved Willis, and definitely would have taken him in the third and gotten other players in first and second. But if one team changes then everything else changes so you can't say for sure.
Crazy to see Franco Harris here, and to know he would be gone months later
it's appropriate that he was the one who welcomed Kenny Pickett to the club
I hope that lad has one hell of a career in black and gold
maybe we'll all start calling him "Mister Pittsburgh"
When Goodell says "AFC Champion Cincinnati Bengals"... That little look he gives the crowd. He knew he'd get that reaction and he enjoyed it.
Starting to think even when everyone else is gone in the first round the Packers still won't draft a wide receiver
This was a VERY deep draft. No true generational talent, but you'll be hard pressed to find anyone who'll really lost here in a few years. The 2022 Draft will fill a ton of roster spots going forward (as in long after the usual washouts, this class looks to have staying power)
I think so too.
RIP 12:45 (Franco Harris, not Kenny Pickett)
Looking back on this I didn’t even realize Franco announced Kenny’s pick. RIP to a true legend 🙏
Honesty really disappointed in Kwesi in MN. He was supposed to bring new life to Minnesota, and his draft was just role playing as a shittier Rick Spielman.
That trade back with Detroit was awful in terms of what you got back.
Yeah it really was plus some of the players they passed up on as well.
Yea the Vikings got fleeced hard
Honestly don't see how it's a haters guide when it may be the best draft recap on RUclips. Great video... up my ravens. linderbaum such a good pic
The Eagles basically turned Carson Wentz into AJ Brown. Howie pulled some magic there.
I like coming back to these videos too see just how bad they aged. He was right in saying it would.
As a Chiefs fan, good to know that the guy at the end jinxed the Bills for this season.
To be fair to him, though, I say the same thing every year as a Chiefs fan since 1989. The fire burns bright every year baby!
Everytime I find some music u use or sound effects u use in their original context makes me very happy!
Does it seem crazy that maybe the Vikings/Lions trade for this draft came with a potential trade for Hockenson once the Lion's playoffs hopes were completely dead.
My favorite types of vids from this guy
LETS GOOOO LOVE U TREE your mad funny this draft was pretty good for the giants thank god they didn’t fumble the bag like usual
as a fellow yinzer and masochist Pitt fan. I love the analysis of the the Pickett pick.
“They ride and die with Zach Wilson”
This aged well.
"They ride and die with Aaron Rodgers"
Rodgers: "tears Achilles immediately and is out for the season"
Thank you for ending on that Kyle Brandt clip! I laughed my ass off listening to that & hearing the fans boo! 😂
me realizing that the jets absolutely won ton this draft now that it's november
Or Seahawks
As a Michigan and a Bengals fan, I am happy about getting Hill. I also hope Hutchinson becomes the next JJ Watt. Who Dey!
As a Seahawks fan, I’m shocked we didn’t trade away the 1st round pick but hot damn our qb room sucks. If we get 5 wins I’m surprised
eh i think lock might surprise a lot of people. the guy was never a bad QB, the moment you go through his film and count the number of dropped passes and screwed up routes by his receivers it becomes clear that his issues stemmed from bad coaching and bad receivers. in a better environment with a coach who can actually develop him and receivers who can actually catch i feel hes going to put up wins.
@@neildalessandro8196 Cleveland is set to pay him 19 million this year and they just got Watson they’re definitely gonna release him
Random-ish: but I went to high school with Ikem Ekwonwu. Wasn’t very close with him, but had a few computer science classes with him and saw him around the locker room all the time. Dude is an absolute character to be around, and it’s hard not to love him. Glad to see he’ll be returning home to Charlotte to play, even if the Panthers have been worse for wear recently.
First time in a few years I could say no one had an extremely bad pick
We’ll see in four years
Patriots had a pretty sus pick in the 1st and their draft in general wasn’t good either, but like UT said, it’s a vintage Bill Belichick draft
Green Bay
Jacksonville
@@geck0milk walker is not a bad player, can’t just have cambell out there every snap
You know maybe Lamar Jackson shouldn't rip the Ravens when there still drafting their players in the first round
But who's he going to throw the ball to now besides TE Mark Andrews?
@@neildalessandro8196 ravens are guaranteed to sign either Jarvis Landry, Julio Jones or trade for deebo
@@donnyg9993 It would be the right move in this case, but we don't know until it actually happens, now do we?
A season later and Hamilton and Linderbaum are Pro Bowlers. I'd say the Ravens did well.
I’m still pissed my Vikings traded back and took cine over Hamilton
Tree pulling up an Arthur Anderson reference made me fall out of my chair.
My dad worked there during the Enron thing, he's got stories for days
One thing was certain with this draft........ STILERS GON SUPER BOWL!!!
Hopefully we get to hear this week on ✨days of our Steelers✨this season
I have a feeling Bill thought he was buying tickets to the new Dr. Strange movie
Yes!!!! Tree, I've waited very patiently for this content!!
Howie Roseman’s redemption arc is really coming along well
I love this tradition of watching Utree haters guides
20:35 jeff gladney comment hit different now
Man, I have so much PTSD from watching Bills' drafts in the 21st century, so I was worried that Beane was gonna try and reach on RB in round 1 since things are very uncertain with Singletary right now. CB was exactly what I wanted to see, and while Elam wasn't who I'd hoped for, I'm sold on him. His work ethic and attitude are exactly the kind of thing that causes one to go far in a system like McDermott's, so I'm excited to see how he'll pan out.
seahawks comment aged well
ayyyyyyyy 18th on trending. congrats tree!!!
This didn’t age well…but not for the reasons you’d think
We always love your videos tree keep posting em, think I speak for a lot when I say these videos have helped us through the recent tough times so thanks for that tree.
Deep down we all know why Atlanta went wide receiver over other pressing needs - Calvin Ridley's impending 1 year suspension.
Gage has also left.
One year later and somehow the two teams with pro-bowlers so far are the New York Jets (Sauce) and the Seattle Seahawks (Tariq Woolen). The team who never drafts good picks, and the team we all clowned for trading away their franchise QB.
And now Jeff Gladney is dead. RIP man
Don't know the guy personally, but Penning graduated from highschool in my current town of residence, went to UNI which I graduated from, and now gets to play with the Honey Badger. As a Chiefs fan and UNI Alum it's so cool. Definitely following his career. Although I'm a Chiefs fan through and through. I hope for his success.
20:35
anyone here after jeff gladney literally died
RIP
Yeah ouch
Yeah I noticed that as well
As a Giants fan this was the first time in a long time that I watched the whole first round with a smile
11:22 This trade royally backfired on the Titans. Now AJ Brown is doing wonders and it got the idiot responsible for trading him to the Eaglea fired.
21:40 This May or may not age well BUT I admire this guy’s sheer confidence.
The Patriots really did draft a strange player
After watching this video, I went ahead and clicked on the 2017 draft revisit which, unsurprisingly, had a link to your original 2017 draft video.
I now understand why you started this video with, "This will not age well......". Even so, all three were fukking hilarious! Thanks, Tree!
The Trubisky part aged well in that vid. The Mahomes part did not.
@@UrinatingTree Yeah, well, being a Chiefs fan, I'm very happy that your take was wrong on Mahomes but you're absolutely right that if he'd gone to just about any other team, he'd probably be considered a bust.
After decades of mediocre to godawful drafts, I'm still bewildered by how well Veach and Reid have done with the draft since they came aboard. I get why the Chiefs are getting torched by other fans (I like to call it "Patriots Syndrome") but believe me, we're as amazed by the past 4 seasons as much as anyone else.
BTW - Thanks for mentioning Trent Green. I know he's got a ring from the Rams (even though he got to watch that season from the bench) but I think he's on the list of QB's that really should have led a team to a Superbowl. After that first concussion, he was just never the same. He's still really active here in KC and is one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet.
Baker mayfield bit aged well
Here after mcduffie had a huge game on Sunday, bro balled out
21:34 well look who it is
There wasn't any WR selected between pick #22 and pick #34, so GB played that perfectly if they really wanted those defensive guys
Starting to think Aaron Rodgers might have to throw the ball to the Pizza delivery man they found on the street.
That was crazy how I kept seeing the same teams over and over. We'll see if such dramatic moves like this work out
I’m so excited to see how the lions turn hutch and Williams into football legends only for them to retire early
Man, what an INCREDIBLE pick by the SUPER BOWL 57 NO-SHOW BUFFALO BILLS!
