    For all the big stars in the draft, there’s still a lot of disappointments, busts and what if’s.
    It’s once again proof that if drafting was easy, we’d all be doing it and Mel Kiper Jr. would actually be halfway decent at it.

    • @ThatFalloutGod
      @ThatFalloutGod 2 года назад +19

      I don't think drafting is easy, but I don't think not making horrible choices is hard to do. I think a lot of people could be good at drafting so long as they just used their brain and had basic levels of restraint. As for finding gems in later rounds... That's extremely difficult and why so few GMs do it on a regular-basis.

    • @sneersh9107
      @sneersh9107 2 года назад +11

      @@ThatFalloutGod See but it's boom or bust for a lot of these guys and they know it. A lot of teams would rather take a chance on a potential superstar level talent even if they risk it not panning out. A lot of bad draft picks are only "bad" in hindsight because management took a gamble and lost. But still there will always be those picks that make no sense for a team whatsoever, those are the real bad picks

    • @ThatFalloutGod
      @ThatFalloutGod 2 года назад +1

      @@sneersh9107 I don't think people, at least the competent and honest ones, see a team taking a chance on an uber-talented player as a "bad pick," just either the player not working out or the coaches not doing their job. When I think of bad picks, I'm talking about ones that're made by teams wildly reaching to take a guy or reaching for a project pick that they know they can't capitalize on.
      So like Taco Charlton was just an awful pick in every way imaginable. Trubisky was a bad pick even at the time, because Watson was there as a surefire prospect and Mahomes' ceiling was infinitely higher, but I wouldn't say it's actually as bad as the Taco pick.

      Watson being a normal guy who'd never been in trouble, having issues with the Texans because they're stupid, and then borderline immediately after that having two dozen chicks accuse him of "sexual assault" during massages isn't something I'm keen to just blindly believe in the slightest. Sorry, I'm too jaded and knowledgeable about shit to fall into that trap.

    I have such fond memories of this draft. As a Kansas City fan, I was used to my team never picking the guy they should get. With the exception of Eric Berry, Kansas City fans are used to being disappointed in our draft for the most part. I started talking about getting Patrick Mahomes back in 2015. After I saw him on a highlight reel of crazy passes. I started looking into him and found how amazing he was. I immediately started talking about us drafting him in the forums and on social media. Regrettably, every fan minus my brother, called me an idiot and acted like I didn’t know what I was talking about. Needless to say all of those people have apologized to me since 🤣. Seriously while watching that draft and after seeing us trade up in the draft I thought to myself, “well, I wonder who we’re going to pick over Mahomes and I wonder what team is gonna win a championship with Mahomes when he could’ve been ours. And then we picked him 😳. I couldn’t believe it. I literally was speechless for a good 45 seconds before I was able to muster up a scream of excitement. I couldn’t believe we finally made OUR pick.

I can think of quite a few ones that would be cool to see, and I'd love to see your take on them.
    - 2016 - *Broncos vs. Panthers:* Last hurrah for Peyton and the beginning of mediocrity for Denver, and a slow slide to irrelevance for Carolina. Neither team has won in the playoffs since this game.
    - 2017 - *Patriots vs. Falcons:* In which Atlanta kickstarted their legacy of failure & never recovered. Meanwhile NE made it to the next two super bowls, and made the playoffs every year except 2020
    And so on. Just a random thought I had while watching.

    Also, as a Bills fan, Tre'davious White has been outstanding for the Bills. For being the first pick of the Mcdermott era (as Beane was hired after whaley was axed after the draft), they hit it out of the park. He was definitely missed when he went down last season with injury. Based on what's being said, his treatment is going well and hopefully he'll be back to his great self, perhaps even better.

    Mitch Trubisky in 2017 is what happened with Blaine Gabbert before him and Zach Wilson after him. He’s a guy who was never in Heisman conversations or the highest stage with his team, yet shot up draft boards cuz guys like Mel Kiper say stuff like “he has the tools to be great in the league”. And with possibly Will Levis joining them in 2023’s draft even tho Bryce Young and CJ Stroud are clearly better, it’s safe to say someone will give up a haul to Chicago so they can move up to number 2 (please do it).

    • @theepoetrygod
      @theepoetrygod 10 месяцев назад

      Here after the 2023 regular season.
      Houston clinched their division and are heading to the playoffs, mainly due to CJ Stroud playing really well. He’s in the running for Offensive Rookie of the Year.
      Carolina cleaned house while helping Chicago win their second consecutive Tank Bowl. Bryce Young looks to be in over his head, but it’s hard to gauge if it’s on him adjusting to the NFL level or just another case of terrible coaching.
      Tennessee also missed the playoffs, but their main issues were losing games that were easily winnable and catching the injury bug. Will Levis has looked solid, but was one of the victims of the injury bug.
      Anthony Richardson was the main surprise, as he looked to bring Indy back to relevance. Unfortunately, he was out for the season after suffering a shoulder injury. I hope he fully recovers cuz he looked damn good when he played. Keep an eye out for him. Something tells me he’s gonna be their franchise guy for years to come.
      Edit: I almost forgot. Despite having a strong showing at the combine and at his pro day, Will Levis was the last QB of this group to be selected.
