Baker, Darnold, Goff, Stafford, all have shown incredible comebacks in the 2024-2025 season so far as of week 12. I think all 4 deserve some newfound praise.
Boy oh boy what a draft class this was. I think this was the first draft class where people started to realize that outside of generational talents like Joe Burrow, the term “NFL-ready QB” began to collapse. Josh Rosen and Sam Darnold were the two that people deemed as “NFL-ready QBs” and they were the biggest busts of the QB class this year.
A bunch of good suggestions for The Trade series: The Trade: RG3 to the Redskins The Trade: Trent Richardson to the Colts The Trade: Mitchell Trubisky to the Bears The Trade: Ryan Leaf to the Chargers The Trade: DeAndre Hopkins to the Cardinals
The sad thing is that I really do believe RG3 could have at least been a good QB, if not one of the best in the league, if it wasn't for THAT ONE LEG INJURY. I knew even watching the replay of it live that it was going to be a bad, career defining one.
i know it will be in the future but in like 3 years The Trade Aaron Rodgers to the Jets because it's crazy how it could be seen as a generational flop of a trade or it may even become one of the greatest trades of all time if the Jets can get a ring with him
The Trade: Randy Moss to the Raiders. a.k.a.: Owner Red McCombs' final Fuck You to the Minnesota Vikings. And how Moss was sent to his doom, until snagged by The Hoodie to revive his career as a Patriot.
This really is a fascinating series. I also would love a 10 year rerecap of these drafts as well so you can look at a lot of these guys entire careers!
I feel like even at the time Tree made this saying Mayfield was a bust was a huge stretch but now its just laughable, of course he was failing when he was injured in 2021 and on the Panthers in 2022
I think Baker deserves a "meh". With all their QB picks in the first round he was the first to inspire any real faith in the team. One rough season caused the Browns to turn on him in an outright farce. Also Denzel Ward being a success and Saquon not for injury concerns is weird. They have equal pro bowls and Saquon has three 1k yard seasons.
Baker as a bust is unfair in ways because if he never played with that blown shoulder it would be a different story. If he somehow revives his career in Tampa bay that’ll be nice.
It's also safe to say any of the other QBs in that draft wouldn't have done as well in the circumstances. Allen and Lamar would not have dropped into good systems, darnold and Rosen simply sucked. He was the best pick and did pretty decent all things considered
As a Ravens fan, this was our best draft since 1996, and its fitting that it was the last draft that Ozzie Newsome was in charge of. Look at who we got. Lamar Jackson, Mark Andrews, Orlando Brown Jr, DeShon Elliott, and Bradley Bozeman. That's close to a generational draft. Not to mention we made Philadelphia drink the stupid for Timmy Jernigan and Mike Wallace in order to get Lamar. Speaking of Lamar, and the Ravens, they are plotting a scheme in order for them to make a huge move for DeAndre Hopkins. We have Andrews, OBJ, and Bateman already, WE'RE GETTING D-HOP EVEN IF WE GIVE UP GUS EDWARDS AND DEVIN DUVERNAY! (The problem is that we have to compete with the Chiefs and Bills to get him) If we get Hopkins, Lamar is easily signing an extension.
Yeah you gotta point there, mate Yeah we've got some good players in the Drafts over the years but this was our best draft Overall in years. If we can get D-Hop and lamar signs this contract (along with staying healthy) then we should be good going forward
@@MazeDaGr8 Honestly I think we will get D-Hop even if we trade our 1st Round pick. Why? Because Deonte Banks, who pundits think the Ravens could take at 22, they might be able to get him in the 2nd Round. It would be a win-win trade. Arizona sheds the Hopkins contract and gets two 1st Round picks, Lamar gets another outstanding receiver to work with, the Ravens get a 2nd and 5th in the deal as well, and the Cardinals are out of Cap Hell. EVERYONE WINS!
@@michaelhession2105 Are you saying the ravens traded Jernigan and Wallace for Lamar? If so, your wrong. They traded the eagles 2 second round pics which the Eagles used on Dallas Goedert and Miles Sanders who were both great picks
When we look back on Baker Mayfield years from now, he won't be considered a bust imo. He not only brought the Browns of all teams to the promised lands, he actually won them a playoff game. Something I don't think will happen for a long time going forward
I honestly thought there was no way you would be able to accurately describe baker as the number 1 pick in terms of what happened and the bust/boom angle, but you nailed it. Impressive

I've been waiting for this since last week. God bless Jaire "The Great" Alexander. Speaking of which, Green Bay could've just taken Jaire at their original pick (#14) but the trade down with the saints (#14->#27) got them a 2019 1st, then moved up 9 spots with Seattle (#27->#18) for only a 3rd and a 6th to grab him. An absolute hosejob by Gutekunst in his 1st year as GM. Also, loving your inclusion of Sonic CD music in your recent vids.
Coming back to this after Baker Mayfield became the first visiting QB to have a perfect passer rating at Lambeau Field. I’d say he’s a meh. Glad to see him turn things around with Tampa.
its actually crazy to look at this draft because normally, 5 years u can tell where a player is in there career but I feel like this is one of the few drafts where u have to wait another 5 years to tell where half these players truly are
Good on you UrinatingTree for highlighting the 7th Round pick by the Eagles of Jordan Mailata! Man's done incredible work to come from his background and play a key role for the Eagles to make the Super Bowl a few months ago.
The injury theme was so strong with some of these poor kids. Penney in particular was sad because he clearly is an extremely talented kid. Hope he has at least one full season in the NFL before he's done. Also, Seattle should never use their first pick on running backs...it just doesn't work out for them.
They did not this year. The last time we used a first round pick on a back and it worked out was Curt Warner in 1983 arguably (unless John L Williams was also a first in 86).

Ah, nostalgia. This was the draft that coincided with my really getting back into football. Good times when we thought Josh Rosen and Sam Darnold would be good
Josh Rosen as a bust I will forever maintain came down to people continuing to fuck around with him and putting him in a position to fail. Guy was legit and got put on teams that immediately went ohh shiny at the next guy.
I like coming back to these kind of videos to show that someone like Baker can be considered a bust one year and have a resurgence to another playoff win the next. Hes finally in a respectable organization that can understand him and develop a game under him
Jordan Mailata was the underdog success story of the draft. Took a huge gamble leaving the NRL in Australia to have a shot at the NFL. Only turned into the highest contract ever for an Australian player and proved they could be more than just kickers and punters. Well done.

This draft single handedly put the Ravens back into contention after years of mediocrity. Even if he leaves, Lamar was the right pick and has worked out wonderfully considering where he was drafted. Considering we also got Orlando Brown jr. and Mark Andrews makes this one of the best draft classes in Ravens history. If only we had actually kept Orlando Brown jr.
i mean damn they have made the Post season 4/5 of the next 5 years including back to back Division titles 2018,2019 and would have made 5/5 playoffs if it was not for that fluke win the Steelers got on them in 2021

As an Eagles fan, that David Akers clip there will forever be absolute gold.
Agreed and One of My Favorite Moments in The NFL Draft As a Eagles Fan Myself!
Rosen was so NFL ready that the Cardinals brought in Sam Bradford to start the season.
David Akers cutting a WWE heel promo at dallas at the end is one of my favorite draft moments OAT
It was glorious!
I would love to see a Revisiting for NHL draft classes. So many of those picks become complete busts and others are grand slams
I want to see the 2015 draft
This please. My coyotes draft choices could be an entire essay In terrible choices
same
I would like to do a 2007 NFL Draft because that draft is identical to 2018 NFL draft.
@@Ibelikemj or the 2017 draft when the Flyers take Elias Pettersson instead of uber bust Nolan Patrick.
A bunch of good suggestions for The Trade series:
The Trade: RG3 to the Redskins
The Trade: Trent Richardson to the Colts
The Trade: Mitchell Trubisky to the Bears
The Trade: Ryan Leaf to the Chargers
The Trade: DeAndre Hopkins to the Cardinals
Oh, yeah, the Colts pick turned into JOHNNY FUCKING FOOTBALL
The final seconds of the Ricky Williams video I think was a sign that a vid on RG3 is coming soon.
Got into your videos with the 2017 NFL Draft revisit. And here I am a year later.
nfl weebs unite
This video really shows bakers comeback ark
3:08 bust for the Browns, success for the Buccaneers at least.
Yeah, these vids can def get funny with hindsight
Tree gets his pick in before the clock runs out you love to see it 🥳
The 2018 class is probably one of the most packed classes ever. Very rare that this many picks end up working out.
yeah, I'm surprised looking at it just how many good players there are here
Especially for Quarterbacks.
I wouldn't call Sony Michel a bust and I'm not even a Pat's fan...like you said, dude helped them get a ring!
Actually, he has two rings, he was also one of the important piece for Rams to win that Super Bowl.
@@taskdon769 …even better! NOT a bust.
Hes out of the league. WASHED@@LuigiL75
Crazy to see this 2 years later after Darnold and Baker turned their careers around
No it is crazy. I thought well this aged like milk
This really is a fascinating series. I also would love a 10 year rerecap of these drafts as well so you can look at a lot of these guys entire careers!
Really happy to see Jakob Johnson in the "Notable undrafted players" category. Germany was thrilled when he made it to the league.
This was one of the best drafts in recent memory. I feel bad for Josh Rosen. Dude gets past around like a joint.
To be fair he did kind of behave like an asshole
Or like your mom's bee whole at the family Christmas party.
One of the best parts of the lead up to the NFL draft. Can't wait for 2019 next year.
When we look back on Baker Mayfield years from now, he won't be considered a bust imo. He not only brought the Browns of all teams to the promised lands, he actually won them a playoff game. Something I don't think will happen for a long time going forward
Ohhh boyyy, now I can’t wait for the 2019 revisit.
2:52 “the sexier option” is certainly an interesting term to use there
Man I love this draft class, when it's on the field.
I honestly thought there was no way you would be able to accurately describe baker as the number 1 pick in terms of what happened and the bust/boom angle, but you nailed it. Impressive
Love watching old draft recaps before the draft
Pats fan here. Wanted Nick Chubb and Lamar from this draft, and got Michel and Wynn. Will never forget this
Truly one of the better drafts in recent memory IMO. Can't believe how much incredible talent came from the later rounds. If only Baltimore would pay thier best QB in franchise history...
Well do I have good news for *you*...
24:29 I’m not joking when I say Ik this by heart and can repeat it on command including the announcers “uhoh” and “ OO!””oh!”. Literally best draft pick announcement ever
The amazing series has returned. Love seeing the differences from the original 2018 draft video.
2017 was the first draft he made a video breaking down, 2018 was the first one where he actually covered the whole first round
Yes I Know that. But the previous video was the original video about the 2018 draft. So that's what I meant
The 2018 nfl draft video was the first UT video I ever watched. Been here ever since… and became a Steelers fan.
Looking forward to 2019's retrospective hopefully next week...
Same
Josh Rosen is such a comedian 😂
Please do more of these videos! Revisit some of the old 2000 drafts
Love the Jet Set Radio Future music that was one of my most favorite childhood games of all time🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I've been waiting for this since last week.
This video aged very interestingly
Coming back to this after Baker Mayfield became the first visiting QB to have a perfect passer rating at Lambeau Field. I’d say he’s a meh. Glad to see him turn things around with Tampa.
NGL this is my favorite and first ever nfl draft I watched so much talent and so many busts 😂😂
seeing this now, baker isn’t a bust anymore. he did some work with the buccs
His time in Cleveland was more mid, but he proved to simply need a change of scenery
LOL... The push notification of Lamar's extension came at the exact time I was seeing him selected in this video!
$185 millons guaranteed! If Lamar Jackson was a sexual predator he could have received even more!
I’m happy this series returned!
its actually crazy to look at this draft because normally, 5 years u can tell where a player is in there career but I feel like this is one of the few drafts where u have to wait another 5 years to tell where half these players truly are
I’ve loved this series since the first one. Can’t wait for next years release!
Man, that guy announcing Philly's pick at the end was fantastic. That is old-school pro wrestling HEAT right there.
David Akers... former kicker of many years with Philadelphia, ended his career with the 49ers
This is a great retrospective series
Good on you UrinatingTree for highlighting the 7th Round pick by the Eagles of Jordan Mailata! Man's done incredible work to come from his background and play a key role for the Eagles to make the Super Bowl a few months ago.
This would be SO different if done 1 or 2 years ago. Shocking how quick things change
Can't wait for the NHL Drafy coverage from the UrinatinTree. This years NHL entry draft is bomb loaded with tallent !!!!!
@@fortynights1513 haha, that's going back 40 years to find a good 1st rounder RB. I was thinking more along the lines of Penney (who sadly has been unlucky with injuries) or Christine Michael off the top of my head. Michael was a second rounder but Seattle's first pick, if I recall.
Revisit this video! Lots of changes with Baker and Darnold being the most important. More about the team/coaching than the player for QB success
These are always great. Here’s to another five points meltdown this year!
And now Sony Michel announced his retirement. A shame.
But hey, he got two Super Bowl rings out of it
Ah, nostalgia.
@@thelinedrive he was cocky af and sucked every chance he got after that, not giving him the benefit of the doubt
@8:28 we all did, man. After the dorm room hot tub I thought the dude was destined for greatness
Ravens had an amazing draft in 2018
I like coming back to these kind of videos to show that someone like Baker can be considered a bust one year and have a resurgence to another playoff win the next. Hes finally in a respectable organization that can understand him and develop a game under him
It'd be great to see him go back and do some classic years
I was waiting for this day, I'm so excited!! I hope you can finally make that world Cup vid soon tho, no rush
Thank you for putting the Akers thing in at the end. One of the greatest moments in eagles history.
The David Akers bit 😂😂
Can’t wait for “Congrats Lightning!”
Please keep doing these! Can we get the same with NHL free agency as well. I know u did one in the past
Jordan Mailata was the underdog success story of the draft. Took a huge gamble leaving the NRL in Australia to have a shot at the NFL. Only turned into the highest contract ever for an Australian player and proved they could be more than just kickers and punters. Well done.
Wonder if Baker will still qualify as a bust after a few more years rebuilding his career in Tampa. Dude did a fine job the year after this came out, we'll see if it continues.
He can’t be a bust if he’s starting.
@@imanoldurango8213 Ryan Leaf spent two years starting 21 games. JaMarcus Russell started 25 games.
Starts do not equal not bust for the first overall pick.
The 2018 nfl draft was the first video I ever watched on this channel . How time flies
baker gets a bust “cause of the rules,” but minkah gets a success despite the acknowledgment that miami weren’t the ones who reaped those rewards… don’t show your yinzer bias too much u-tree!
Even though New England's draft classes from 2018-2020 are very bare bones, overall I'm liking how the 2021 and 2022 draft classes have been shaping up and I'm looking forward to my teams next batch of rooks.
Baker has been much better
Been waiting for this vid for at least the past 2 years after Philly came away from it with a #1 TE, starting slot CB, starting DE & franchise LT with 4 of their 5 picks that year
This draft single handedly put the Ravens back into contention after years of mediocrity. Even if he leaves, Lamar was the right pick and has worked out wonderfully considering where he was drafted. Considering we also got Orlando Brown jr. and Mark Andrews makes this one of the best draft classes in Ravens history. If only we had actually kept Orlando Brown jr.
What irks me is that instead of hurst they could of drafted Ridley. Can you imagine how that would of turned out?
i mean damn they have made the Post season 4/5 of the next 5 years including back to back Division titles 2018,2019 and would have made 5/5 playoffs if it was not for that fluke win the Steelers got on them in 2021
@@OmegaReconGaming Calvin Ridley wasn't a need for the Ravens at the time. The reasoning was that they signed Michael Crabtree, John Brown, and Willie Sneed plus were rumored at the time to try and land Dez Bryant. Although they did get Dez, but not until 2020.
@@michaelhession2105 meh, who?, meh. No wonder why things don’t change for the ravens. We don’t remember what good WRs look like.
@@michaelhession2105 WR was still a need lol. I forgot that crabtree was even in the league then
24:35 And this is why David Akers is highly regarded in Philly. Because this bit NEVER gets old.
YESSS FINALLY
I’m ready for 19s retrospective
This draft for the Ravens is up there for best of the century
Fun fact: Thats not even their best draft ever.
Part of LVE's turn around was a change in our defensive coordinator. Dan Quinn knew how to use him properly, I see a bright future for him.
Is Baker still a bust? Asking for a friend
Nah he had a nice Redemption season, didn't work out with his previous teams, but he's good overall in Tampa Bay rn.
Naw, I mean he got drafted to Cleveland and went to Carolina afterwards, which even Tom Brady would struggle at. Then he had an Amazon delivery worth of time before he started a game with the Rams and won. He had a good redemption arc at a finally solid team in Tampa Bay so yeah imo he's actually pretty overhated and an overall solid QB
Tree drops a video, I simply watch.
This has not aged well
