    Eli Manning was ripped to shreds by the media before that season started by claiming that he believed he was an elite QB. He then proceeded to completely carry the team with the worst ranked rushing attack and a bottom 5 defense to a Superbowl title by throwing over 4900 yards, leading six fourth-quarter comebacks, and breaking the record for most yards thrown in a single postseason. Say what you want about the rest of his career (mostly caused by playing behind a horrendous O-line for a decade), but for that season, he was absolutely elite.

I remember that and the playoff game against the Steelers, watched that game live and it was crazy seeing that ending. Also remember watching the 49ers-Saints game, that was still one of the wildest endings I’ve ever seen. As a Patriots fan it was upsetting whenever I saw that Mario Manningham caught the ball on the sideline, I just knew the Giants were going to find a way to win. Heck that was the second time out of four times where the Patriots were on the wrong end of some miraculous catches, the last two being Jermaine Kearse of the Seahawks and Julio Jones sideline catch of the Falcons, which in the Falcons game they wound up having their own great catch with Julian Edelman. Definitely I can say 2011 was one of the most memorable seasons in the NFL I’ve ever seen.

    We've got a nice roster of great young QBs in the League now, but the stretch between '05 and '15 is when I watched the most football and it felt like QB play across the League just kept getting better and better.

    As a Rams fan I remember 2011 was the year reality kicked me right in the nuts. Went from ONE GAME AWAY from making the playoffs since 2006 to going 2-14. The highlight of that season for me was watching the Rams D destroy the Saints and seeing the Browns grasp defeat from the jaws of victory from us 😂

    I know it’s HARD to admit because people tend to have such strong nostalgia for past decades when it comes to sports but the 2011 Saints had the absolute Greatest offense the NFL has had in its history the tape AND stats back that up. Brees was robbed of MVP because the NFL had just began to use its whole throat for Aaron Rodgers and the Saints had such a terrible defense and well…they’re the Saints and that 2011 team gets greatly overlooked. Nevertheless this was an amazing video! Subscriber earned 👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽

    If I threw for 5476 yards and 46 tds AND won 13 games but still didn't win MVP that would be my 13th reason 😂. Aaron having an all time efficient season and goin 15-1 was the right pick tho, sucks for Brees

      and then Matthew Stafford failed to even get a pro bowl out of his 5038 yards and 41 tds, what a wild season. I can only imagine Stafford as a kid thinking "and I'm gonna have over 5000 yards and over 40 TDs one season and be seen as a legend!" then it happens and he gets nothing out of it 🤣

    I always look at Stafford's 2011 season as probably the most overshadowed 5,000 yard season ever(excluding Winston 2019). He had some incredible performances where his defense did not do anything. He threw for 520 yards and 5 TD's in that Week 17 game vs. Green Bay and STILL managed to lose.

    • @tbow13gbr22
      @tbow13gbr22 Год назад

      Pretty much the perfect example of why Stafford never had any team success in Detroit. Detroit’s defense gave up like 27 ppg in all of Stafford’s time there, and their running game was always bottom five in the league. So basically, Stafford had to put up an average of 4 TDs a game with no running game just to be competitive.

    2011 was such a magical year for the Lions (minus Suh's "antics"), and it felt like that it might lead to more than that in the playoffs
    And then they got 6 TDs thrown on them by Matt Effin' Flynn in the last regular season game, and most Lions fans, including myself, knew we stood no chance vs. the Saints the next week

    That was a fun year. Not just because Eli kicked Brady’s ass a second time, but Alex Smith finally got a competent coach and a decent team around him. I followed his college career and I really wanted him to have success in the NFL.
