I remember the Steelers held TB12 to 198 yards that year, I think that was his lowest total of the year and PIT beat NE 25-17. Never faced any other elite QB's that year that I remember. Eli Manning was ripped to shreds by the media before that season started by claiming that he believed he was an elite QB. He then proceeded to completely carry the team with the worst ranked rushing attack and a bottom 5 defense to a Superbowl title by throwing over 4900 yards, leading six fourth-quarter comebacks, and breaking the record for most yards thrown in a single postseason. Say what you want about the rest of his career (mostly caused by playing behind a horrendous O-line for a decade), but for that season, he was absolutely elite.

    If I threw for 5476 yards and 46 tds AND won 13 games but still didn't win MVP that would be my 13th reason 😂. Aaron having an all time efficient season and goin 15-1 was the right pick tho, sucks for Brees

      and then Matthew Stafford failed to even get a pro bowl out of his 5038 yards and 41 tds, what a wild season. I can only imagine Stafford as a kid thinking "and I'm gonna have over 5000 yards and over 40 TDs one season and be seen as a legend!" then it happens and he gets nothing out of it 🤣

    what's even more insane is that if you include the postseason 3 qbs had over 6000 yards. Brady had 6113. Brees had a mind boggling 6404(he threw for 950 yards in 2 playoff games) and Eli had 6152(holds the most passing yards in a single post season).
    Absolute insanity

    Lifelong Eagles fan here, and I'd just about forgotten that Vince Young was on our team for a cup of coffee. That season was a crazy trip, and I hate it, because it made me cheer for the Giants for the second time in four years. Seriously, the Patriots made a *solid* run at trying to take the most hated spot away from the Cowboys for me. It's almost like cheating for 20 years (or more, we don't know that they've stopped, they sure never did before) makes you everyone's enemy.

    You forgot the TD pass drop in the Pats vs Ravens playoff game before the Cundiff shank.
    That game hurt so much. Always love beating the Pats, which we liked to do, a lot.
    I think Ed Teed legitimately scared Brady and Bellichick. Bill used to fellate Ed Reed weekly.
    Funny that the 49ers and Ravens made it to the Super Bowl the next year, when they both lost in the conference championship.

    As a Rams fan I remember 2011 was the year reality kicked me right in the nuts. Went from ONE GAME AWAY from making the playoffs since 2006 to going 2-14. The highlight of that season for me was watching the Rams D destroy the Saints and seeing the Browns grasp defeat from the jaws of victory from us 😂

    • @nightcross1030
      @nightcross1030 10 месяцев назад +1

      When the game is over in the early 3rd (and play outside in WI), that'll happen. Rodgers has never been a yardage machine, and 2011 was no different. I think Rodgers' play in 2011 is the best I've ever seen a QB play (regular reason, obviously).

    Tim Tebow definitely had the weirdest thing about him with sucking for 3 quarters then suddenly playing well in the 4th quarter. I remember that and the playoff game against the Steelers, watched that game live and it was crazy seeing that ending. Also remember watching the 49ers-Saints game, that was still one of the wildest endings I’ve ever seen. As a Patriots fan it was upsetting whenever I saw that Mario Manningham caught the ball on the sideline, I just knew the Giants were going to find a way to win. Heck that was the second time out of four times where the Patriots were on the wrong end of some miraculous catches, the last two being Jermaine Kearse of the Seahawks and Julio Jones sideline catch of the Falcons, which in the Falcons game they wound up having their own great catch with Julian Edelman. Definitely I can say 2011 was one of the most memorable seasons in the NFL I’ve ever seen.

    We've got a nice roster of great young QBs in the League now, but the stretch between '05 and '15 is when I watched the most football and it felt like QB play across the League just kept getting better and better.
