The fact that Eli Manning will forever be 2-0 against Brady in the postseason and Mahomes will forever be 0-2 against Brady in the postseason is so wild.
As a chiefs fan it honestly hurts Mahomes will never get to say he beat Brady in the post season.
Brady never beat anyone his top 5 defenses did

I need one for every season
@@billnye1329 99 or 12 would be great
I was a kid during most of these so I don’t remember much about it besides going back and looking up stats and stuff. Having someone break down these seasons like Brandon does is so entertaining
Agreed
And Brandon
Drew Brees 5476, Brady 5235 Stafford 5038, Manning 4933, Rodgers 4643, Rivers 4624. All over 4500 yards and is the only year with three QBs passing for over 5000 yards. A incredible year for QBs
Yeah we all watched the same video.
Weird that hasn't happened with you know Josh Allen Patrick mahomes Justin Herbert Joe burrow or even the quarterback for the eagles can't think of the name right now why have we had 5000 charged again is because defenses are much better now
Don’t forget Rex Grossman throwing 16 tds and 20 ints

The Mediocrity of the McCaskeys Midway and their love of white turnover scrambling QBs shall live in infamy
Brees still holds the record for total yards per game in the regular season with 348. ABSURD
As a Packers fan, this one still hurts. The season was just so magical, until it finally wasn't. It really did feel like we couldn't be stopped.
If only Aaron "Choke Artist" Rodgers wasn't their QB.
@@jacobcelmer4928 dude has a winning playoff record and a ring. Nice try, troll.
I swear. I was a freshman in highschool this year, and living in chicago, everybody was silent untill that playoff game against the giants. I fr thought we were gonna repeat. The talent on that team, on both sides of the ball was just insane.
Packers not winning another ring with Rodgers or favre will haunt me the rest of my life
It really did set the tone for the rest of Rodger’s playoff career with the packers
Stafford throwing for 5K yards and 41 TDs at age 23 has to be one of the most overlooked seasons by an NFL QB ever.

Some unmentioned records from this season:
Eli broke the record for the most passing yards in a single postseason (1219)
Drew Brees broke the record for the most yards in a combined regular&post season (6404) in only 18 games is mind blowing.
As a Giants fan 2011 was unforgettable. The ups and the downs culminating in beating the Pats again in the Super Bowl. I hope I could relive a season like that and 2007 again in my lifetime.
I hope so as well man. 🙏
If Welker could have caught one ball ☠
@@davidcornell7150 I always get on my Patriot fan friends about the Welker drop in 2011 and also the Asante Samuel dropped interception that could’ve sealed the 07 SB for y’all 🤣
@@davidcornell7150hey man. Very one has an off day. His just happened to be the day of the Super Bowl
In hindsight, the Giants ultimately paid the price for winning those two Super Bowls since then: 1-2 in the playoffs (2016, 2022), several losing seasons, and seasons where they had a good record but missed the playoffs, and Good Eli becoming Bad Eli for the majority of his career.
This was the year that solidified Eli Manning as the GOAT SLAYER. By default that makes him Mahomes’ granddad.

Thank you for reminding me about the Cowboys icing their own kicker. I had totally forgotten about that, but I was immediately transported back to my living room laughing hysterically. It’s one of the most Cowboys things the Cowboys have ever done
As a Giants fan, that hail mary was up there for an eternity, and I thought Gronk was going to dive and catch that tip. Still my favorite NFL season to this day.
Just one of many times Green Bay broke my heart with their abysmal playoff performance.
It's ok, now Rodgers is gone and he can choke for the jets now. And at a decent price point lol
Its alright, as long as we win a superbowl every 15 years at the very least we will be winning 2 times more than average.
Rodgers and his hall of fame-worthy career of choking.
@@iandevine3063i dont think people realize how hard it is to win a superbowl. Dan marino never won a single bowl but people dont say he choked 🤷♂️
Always losing in the frozen tundra.
What’s crazier? Drew Brees never winning MVP or Matthew Stafford only having one Pro Bowl in his entire career?
Easily the Drew Brees MVP, Detroit Lions didn't look that good for several years of Stafford's tenure, not to mention he played during the time of MANY elite qbs. Ofc now there are still elite qbs, but a Lions Stafford 100% would get several prow bowls in a meh NFC qb list.
Every time Drew would have a otherwise MVP season someone would go Super Saiyan 06 09 11 and 18 four time runner up over 13 seasons is still great
2011 brees def deserved it over Rodgers and he def deserved it later he should have atleast 2

As a Giants fan this made me smile
One of the best seasons ever. 2011 was a special football Season.
The 2011 season has a special place in my heart. I was a junior in high school that year. It was a great year for me and as a Packers fan despite the divisional lost to the Giants was a great season. The 2011 season overall was great as well. Good times.
Same loved that year as a niner fan even tho two fumbles cost a trip to the big game
Man I was the same age this was the season that made me hella into football! I made so much money betting the giants to win the Super Bowl with my classmates😂😂
I was about the same age as you... crazy time to be alive , these are the types of seasons that make someone a football fan for life! Been a hard-core fan literally since the 2011 season.
Steelers fan here, humble brag, we had the #1 pass defense (as well as total yards and scoring) in 2011 (and much of the Dick LeBeau 2004-2014 era). I remember the Steelers held TB12 to 198 yards that year, I think that was his lowest total of the year and PIT beat NE 25-17. Never faced any other elite QB's that year that I remember. That was one of the most enjoyable NFL seasons to watch.
As a Chiefs fan who attended that Tebow 2 completion game I cannot tell you how many times I, and others, yelled "Two for nine. He completed two fucking passes AND WE LOST!" Still mind-blowing to this day.
As a giaints fan going into his year of college you couldn't tell me anything. Eli manning was the best qb of all time. Damn the stats. We ACTUALLY WON!! I WAS DRUNK THE REST OF THE YEAR
Eli Manning was ripped to shreds by the media before that season started by claiming that he believed he was an elite QB. He then proceeded to completely carry the team with the worst ranked rushing attack and a bottom 5 defense to a Superbowl title by throwing over 4900 yards, leading six fourth-quarter comebacks, and breaking the record for most yards thrown in a single postseason. Say what you want about the rest of his career (mostly caused by playing behind a horrendous O-line for a decade), but for that season, he was absolutely elite.
That bills patriots game was one of the best games I've ever watched lol I was in awe watching fitzmagic
I love these balls deep dives! Honestly, I'd love to see one on Troy Polamalu.
Perna. Thank you. You're content here & on GPS had really helped me get through a really hard time: I lost my Executive Chef job at the hotel of 5 years. Lost Home PC & 8 Terabytes of information. & worst of all, My wife left me.. All within 3 weeks. So, thank you for moments of healing & laughter. Go Football! Love you guys. 🏈👣
Prayers out to you that things get better for you brother. 🙏 ❤
@@jaxxattax3204 The job was abusive, & me being dismissed may have saved my life. Ostracized and feeling abandoned by my wife is gutting but she really isn't a very good person. dude I've been there, I've lost a PC and it sucks
THEE most fun regular season I've ever witnessed as a football fan. Thanks for bringing back some great memories.
2011 was great. 10yr anniversary of 9/11, a great draft class in all positions, the duo of Vronk and Hernandez was special. Victor Cruz was infectious, and the list goes on and on.
These season recaps are so good!
My favorite(s)!
That’s why I’ve always loved Eli. Tom couldn’t beat him in a Super Bowl.
This season hurts as a Ravens fan...but the football gods blessed us next year with that no call on Michael Crabtree
Flacco is/was a playoff god
I was 7 during this season, it was the first one that I actually payed attention to. My dad is from Boston so I am a Patriots fan, needless to say I had my 7 year old heart broken that year. But hearing these names and watching these clips is bringing back some insane nostalgia.
Excellent episode! 2011 was a great year in the NFL.
Arguably the best season ever, definitely the best post season for sure.
and the last season they could use EPO on WR´s before lance armstrong made epo evil
Dammit, Perna. My hype meter was already off the scale before you put this out for the Giants, and then you've gone and done this. You monster. I love you.
Jay Cutler was having his best season as a pro before he broke his thumb against the Chargers that season. The Bears were rolling too. I’m still not over it.
2011 was THE year for fantasy football. The amount of hits and rookies making statements for the years to come were amazing.
Green Bay's lone loss to the Chiefs was a big reason why Romeo Crennel got to be their coach for 2012, after which he was fired and Kansas City then went after a new head coach, some guy named Andy. That stunning upset meant they didn't grab some coach in 2012 instead.
As a browns fan the 2011 season gave me one of my favorite playoff memories. That Tebow throw in the first time in history will always bring a smile to my face
Just found your channel and must say I love this series. Especially as 07 is right when I got into football. Keep making these man!
For the next one of these, would you maybe consider doing a much older season? Like one from the early 2000s or even the ‘90s? 2004 might be interesting. Or one of the seasons where Aikmen’s Cowboys or Elway’s Broncos won it all. As someone who only started watching in the early 2010s, I’d love to get a sense of what these older eras were like on a week-to-week basis.
As a Giants fan…what a time to be alive
The 2011 Saints lost to SF still haunts me. Another wasted Prime Brees Year.
The dude threw 2 go-ahead TDs in the last 5 minutes and STILL didn’t win
@@heinman6250 pain. Story of the saints post 2009.

I thought Kyle Williams went into witness protection after those 2 fumbles... He won a ring with the broncos 🤯
Loved it! Some more seasons please
Dawg, I genuinely hope you never lose your passion for making these videos. Following your shit the last 2 years has brought me the most joy in sports programming since like Kenny mayne and Stuart Scott hosted sportscenter 🏆🏆🏆🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
And I’m a ravens fan. FUUUUUCK this season.
Absolutely love your Balls Deep series.
Such a well made video!! these 27 minutes went by quickly lol
The 2012 Super Bowl was the first football game I had ever seen and if it wasn’t for that game, I probably wouldn’t be a football fan today. Crazy to think the 2011 season as a whole almost didn’t happen.
22:23 that lions safety is how everybody felt 😂😂
Keep doing season recaps please and thanks
I'm glad you included a picture of the "SCABS SUCK" signs when talking about the Colts, because that is exactly what I refer Curtis Painter & Co. as. My mother and I pretty much referred to the team as the Indianapolis Peytons all year. Must've been a huge relief when Andrew Luck played so well so fast.
And I hate to admit it, but my mother and I did indeed practically worship Tebow that year.
Perna this style of video is fantastic. Hope you are proud of yourself, you’re doing a really great job!
The 2011 season made me an NFL fan. Haven't looked back since
Brandon "let's make videos from a time my broncos didn't stomp my soul" Perna
every video with stafford in it makes me that much more sad that we couldnt put together a single playoff win with him.
I remember being glued to the TV on Sunday in 2011. It also helped that I was a Giant's fan LOL
If I threw for 5476 yards and 46 tds AND won 13 games but still didn't win MVP that would be my 13th reason 😂. Aaron having an all time efficient season and goin 15-1 was the right pick tho, sucks for Brees
and then Matthew Stafford failed to even get a pro bowl out of his 5038 yards and 41 tds, what a wild season. I can only imagine Stafford as a kid thinking "and I'm gonna have over 5000 yards and over 40 TDs one season and be seen as a legend!" then it happens and he gets nothing out of it 🤣
Great video!!! Keep it up
Great vid buddy
From start to finish this is how u do it.
“Public safety advocate Aaron Hernandez” killed me
Ducking love this episode, good shit perna
That Jerome Simpson flip into the end zone is literally the reason I chose the Bengals as my team that year lol I'm a Canadian so I don't have a hometown NFL team to cheer for lol
what's even more insane is that if you include the postseason 3 qbs had over 6000 yards. Brady had 6113. Brees had a mind boggling 6404(he threw for 950 yards in 2 playoff games) and Eli had 6152(holds the most passing yards in a single post season).
Absolute insanity
Great series, great content
I'm loving this series!
"Public Safety Advocate" Aaron Hernandez... I am now deceased 🤣
Man Perna has really stepped up his content because I instantly click his videos when I see them
amazing commentary, really funny stuff from this season lol
Lifelong Eagles fan here, and I'd just about forgotten that Vince Young was on our team for a cup of coffee. That season was a crazy trip, and I hate it, because it made me cheer for the Giants for the second time in four years. Seriously, the Patriots made a *solid* run at trying to take the most hated spot away from the Cowboys for me. It's almost like cheating for 20 years (or more, we don't know that they've stopped, they sure never did before) makes you everyone's enemy.
You forgot the TD pass drop in the Pats vs Ravens playoff game before the Cundiff shank.
That game hurt so much. Always love beating the Pats, which we liked to do, a lot.
I think Ed Teed legitimately scared Brady and Bellichick. Bill used to fellate Ed Reed weekly.
Funny that the 49ers and Ravens made it to the Super Bowl the next year, when they both lost in the conference championship.
Holy shit - The Billy Cundiff part got me so bad. Top tier content, Pern
2011 the Tebow mania life was so much simple and my first full season as a football fan 😭 8th grade days
That Eli Double Bird image from the MNF streams os legendary.
2011? Thats crazy, some of this footage doesn't feel like it was long ago.Time flies
I practically never comment on RUclips videos but just wanted to say I'm super impressed by your strength and genuinely enjoy the videos and content you provide
Need more of these recaps
Matt Moore and Chad Henne have Superbowl rings. 😂😂
26:12 remember thinking that was the greatest throw I’ve ever seen and it still is
"MID!!!" I don't know if Perna's a wrestling guy but that clip was appreciated greatly
Like the 2011 season, this show almost didn't happen, but we’re all glad we got it.
Love ya, Bran - is that the shortened version of Brandon? I remember those years. Every other boy was Brandon. Actually, how about BP? Oooo, that sounds good. Love ya. BP💙💙
watching football highlights always makes me feel old and forget how dramatically better video equiptment has gotten so quickly
When I'm 102 and on my deathbed, I will still be damning the name Eli Manning.
eric berry being scared of the horse was hilarious.
The Billy Cundiff line is easily the best part of the video
Great content
Good video!
As a Rams fan I remember 2011 was the year reality kicked me right in the nuts. Went from ONE GAME AWAY from making the playoffs since 2006 to going 2-14. The highlight of that season for me was watching the Rams D destroy the Saints and seeing the Browns grasp defeat from the jaws of victory from us 😂
I’m a giants fan and I remember watching these playoffs with my dad, I don’t think I’ve ever seen him that emotional before or since lol
Absolutely insane that Aaron Rodgers had possibly the best season ever by any quarterback and was still barely top 5 in yards
When the game is over in the early 3rd (and play outside in WI), that'll happen. Rodgers has never been a yardage machine, and 2011 was no different. I think Rodgers' play in 2011 is the best I've ever seen a QB play (regular reason, obviously).
2011 and 2014 were my favorite NFL seasons overall in the 2010’s
This makes me think, you really should start a series about forgotten players with incredible seasons
Man that was an epic season! NYG fan 😊
Tim Tebow definitely had the weirdest thing about him with sucking for 3 quarters then suddenly playing well in the 4th quarter. I remember that and the playoff game against the Steelers, watched that game live and it was crazy seeing that ending. Also remember watching the 49ers-Saints game, that was still one of the wildest endings I’ve ever seen. As a Patriots fan it was upsetting whenever I saw that Mario Manningham caught the ball on the sideline, I just knew the Giants were going to find a way to win. Heck that was the second time out of four times where the Patriots were on the wrong end of some miraculous catches, the last two being Jermaine Kearse of the Seahawks and Julio Jones sideline catch of the Falcons, which in the Falcons game they wound up having their own great catch with Julian Edelman. Definitely I can say 2011 was one of the most memorable seasons in the NFL I’ve ever seen.
Saints fan here. That 49er game haunts me to this day. I thought that was going to be Drew’s second Super Bowl, but our defense was terrible.
TGS has mastered the art of seamless transitions
I’m planning on trying Underdog next Season.. Be ready Perna.
Brandon I enjoyed this so much. Any Super Bowl Tom Brady is in that he lost was beautiful. Thanks…
That Jerome Simpson play made me start watching football.
Since 2012 im one of the few Bengalsfans in Germany
This series is so Good it really should be a show on ESPN. Like 20 for 20. An hour long special for each season hosted by BP. Would be amazing
We've got a nice roster of great young QBs in the League now, but the stretch between '05 and '15 is when I watched the most football and it felt like QB play across the League just kept getting better and better.
