My dad passed in Sept. 2008. That Cardinals run was the only thing I could look forward to in the following months. Made the loss that much more heartbreaking, but I'm thankful for the run.
Kurt Warner willed this team into the playoffs. The cards were so bad... ranked the worst teams to go to super bowl in the last 25 years. That's a hall of fame quarterback for you.
Damn they weren't that bad lol. Great receiving core, HoF quarterback, darnell dockety, and a safety duo of Adrian Wilson and Antrel Rolle. They just had a shit run game and couldn't pressure the opposing quarterback at all so their defense had to rely on getting turnovers to stop touchdowns lol.
@judehindi9859 they definitely sucked defensively but my point was just that they weren't a terrible team as a whole and played a lot of great games with great players
This was the 1st season that got me invested enough in the sport to turn me into a lifetime Dolphins fan… so many fond memories cheering for Larry Fitzgerald in the playoffs ☺️
James Harrison was actually recently on Big Ben's podcast Footbahlin with Roethlisberger and they talk about that play. Harrison said he was supposed to blitz on that play but decided not to before the snap and instead faked the rush and dropped into coverage. He said Kurt Warner was looking right at him but didn't see him because he knew Harrison was supposed to be blitzing. The rest of his breakdown of the play was also super good.
I wish I wasn't a Cardinals fan because that was one of the top 3 Super Bowls ever! If the ends of both halves didn't completely rip my heart out every time I watched, read, or talked about them, I would be so relive that game. But all these year's later, it still hurts.

It was the 2nd cardinals game I ever watched (I was 10) 1st being the nfc championship vs the eagles. I'll never forget this. Watched it with my mom and she became a cardinals fan too ever since. I'm really glad you made this! I feel like it was one of the best stories and also superbowls imo.
Not a Steelers fan, but for my money that is the most clutch throw/catch in SB history. The placement was one in a hundred thousand, the catch was one in a million.
The 2021 Cincinnati Bengals remind me of the 2008 Arizona Cardinals. A team that got hot, went on a run and fell just short. That 2008 Cardinals team lit a fire under the franchise to strive for greatness and they had a lot of great seasons afterwards. They just had a lot of bad fortune where they just get cold towards the end of the season in the entry bug would hit them like in 2014 they could have won the Super Bowl. Even in 2021 they had the hottest start. It would be a dream to see the Bengals and Cardinals in the Super Bowl.
Remember also that this was the year after the 2007 NCAA Football Division I FBS season, the one that featured ten #1's and #2's losing, with eight of their opponents unranked at the time of the upset. Two of the greatest upsets of all-time also happened: Stanford beating #2 USC in a game the Trojans were favored by 41 to win, and probably the greatest upset so far this century - the then-FCS Appalachian State beating #5 Michigan at Michigan Stadium.
I'm late but I honestly like this type of football that was played around this time than now. A heavy mix of run and pass, less soft penalties, and defense still mattered. It may be a bias since I'm a Steelers fan but I feel I can't be the only one.
10:33 The ravens and texans were originally going to have byes I think somewhere in weeks 6-9 in 2008, BUT a hurricane hit houston in week 2 postponing their game. So they both had a bye week 2 and their schedules along with the bengals schedules were rearranged to accommodate much like how many schedules changed for covid in 2020
I was about to comment this hurricane Ike hit houston that's why they had a bye in week 2 also!! The texans came back the next week against the dolphins and they won the game when Matt Schaub ran it in on 4th down !!! Memories
Being a Steelers fan this was one of the best seasons ever. Not just because the Steelers won it all in dramatic fashion. That was just such a fun season of the NFL. Honestly feels like the last of that era. Every after 2008 feels like a different NFL.
I like hearing about old seasons, I have a horrible memory so it's nice. This was one of the first few seasons I really got into football, only had to wait a couple seasons to see my Packers win 😁
My favorite part of that final throw to Santonio is that Ben had no reason to do it at all. He already had multiple defenders on him, and on the wide cam it looks like Mewelde Moore is wide open on the flat route for a walk in TD. Whether he was or not, it does seem like destiny was calling Santonio on that drive, and Ben sure knew how to put it right where only Santonio could have caught it, even if he had an easier throw. But hey, as a Steeler fan, I'm not complaining. Another fun fact is that Reggie Wells, #74, a guard for Arizona (and Pittsburgh native) was an assistant coach on my HS team for a year. Dude was so knowledgeable about the game and taught me more about being a lineman that year than all my other years combined. It's amazing how pros can grasp some of these crazy concepts and how smart they all are. Although simple relative to other HS teams, his knowledge made our playbook seem like it was the stuff 6 year olds ran. Always fun to watch him chugging down the field on that Harrison pick 6.
Only reason the Ravens had a Week 2 bye was because of Hurricane Ike; they were supposed to play the Texans but the game was postponed to November and both teams had their bye week moved up
I saw the cardinals mollywhop the rams in Glendale that season. I'm a dolphins fan, but my cousin who I went with is a rams fan so it was fun to not have a dog in the fight and enjoy his misery and watch kurt warner have a field day.
Great year, great video. As an Eagles fan, you kind of looked over how much of an underdog the Eagles were- we needed, like 4 different teams to lose in week 16 just to give us a chance of getting in as a Wild Card, and we made it to the 5th NFC championship game in a decade.
As a Titans fan this was the one rare season that started out so incredible and ended so awful. It’s bitter sweet but I enjoyed the ride. Thank you for this. 🤘
For some reason I don't remember Ben's 08 season being that bad maybe because I was always in awr of his ability to escape the pocket which he had to do nearly every time he dropped back that year
That 2008 super bowl was bonkers in the 4th quarter. Rumor has it those Steelers defenders are still chasing Larry Fitzgerald's shadow to this very day. Fitzgerald had one of the most impressive, insanely good playoff runs in history that year.
As a yinzer, this Super Bowl was obviously insanely great, but that AFC Championship against the Ravens might just be the best game in that legendary series.
I cried that night. That Polamalu pick 6 left me depressed going to school Monday morning but that entire 5 year stretch between the Ravens-Steelers were must watch. Made high school for me the best years of my life
Since the 2013 Season, Brady in New England is 7-6 vs the Dolphins. The Patriots played in 4 super bowls in that 6 year stretch, winning 3. The Dolphins had a single playoff game (which was a blowout loss to the Steelers) during that stretch.
In Philly, this was known as the forgotten playoff run. This happened right after the Phillies won the WS so alot of Eagles fans were riding that high for a while. NO ONE expected them to go as far as they did that year, a pleasant surprise
Larry Fitzgerald is my all time favorite athlete and considering I'm 58 years old there's a long list of athletes to choose from. I'm a Philadelphia fan by nature with the exception of the Eagles. I've been a Cardinals fan since 1975 and consider myself blessed to have witnessed Larry's hall of fame career.
This was the season that got me into football. Everyone was forcing the chargers on to me since I was a kid and I just didn't like the way Philip Rivers threw the ball, that and the completely obnoxious fans. So I decided to give it one more chance and happened to tune into the 2008 AFC championship between The Steelers and The Ravens. I honestly despise the color yellow so much and have always preferred the defensive side of sports, so it was easy to choose who to root for in the game. I remember 2 or 3 cart offs, cold weather, a defensive slugfest. It was perfect. Decided then and there to be a Ravens fan because of their amazing defense and haven't looked back since. It was fun to watch this video and see all the things that went on during that season. Although I did remember the chargers beating the colts because my town erupted in partying after lol
Larry Fitzgerald was absolutely unreal this postseason. Best single postseason ever by a wide receiver and he held the record for most receiving yards in a year including the postseason until Cooper Kupp got that last year. 546 yards and 7 TDs in 4 games. He was their entire offense in that super bowl and it's such a shame he never got a ring. Regardless, an all-time great and first-ballot HOFer
I wanted Warner and the Cardinals to win that year so bad. After being dumped by the Rams, Warner earned the opportunity to prove he still belonged. Shame his defense let him down.
I'm a Steelers fan, yes this year has been fun. But in that super bowl I'm not going to lie when Fitzgerald hit the turbo button and just zoomed off to the end zone at the end of the game, I was really nervous. So nervous that my buddy was giving me shit. He's the Steelers fan too but he just kept going go Cardinals ! Lol booze and football and Friends. that's living right there!
Twas a great game. One jumped route in the end zone that turned into an insane pick six right before halftime sank the cards’ ship. Was rooting hard for Warner.

2008 was one of my favorite seasons to watch despite my favorite team-KC- only winning 2 games! My 2nd favorite team was Carolina whose season gets overlooked because of Delhomme's poor game vs Cardinals. They were fighting Bucs for division until Bucs fell off. Then had a chance for home field but lost in OT to Giants. And in final game Kasay made GW FG to to clinch FG over division over a surging Falcons team. Williams & Stewart made a great tandem too.
Excellent video! This season happened during my senior year of highschool. It was a good time to be a Steelers fan and a fan of defensive football. I never celebrated harder in my life than that James Harrison Superbowl interception return for a td.
As a Dolphins fan this might be my favorite season ever that I have witnessed as a fan. Only other season that could come close is 2016 with Jay Ajayi running the ball. Pretty sad that my two greatest seasons were watching my team get it's ass kicked in the wildcard round both years. But hey will still always remember being like 16yrs old ad watching that Patriots vs Dolphins game week 3 with all my friends who are Patriot fans seeing how I live in Massachusetts accept for one who's a Packers fan. And getting to talk shit for 3 full hours as the Dolphins dominated them with the Wildcat.
Fun fact: The 2008 Indianapolis Colts hold the record for least passing touchdowns allowed in a 16-game season with 6 despite ranking 11th in yards allowed.
The Brady ACL sack by the Chiefs also set a chain of events in motion that led them to sign Cassel the next season, and I think we all remember how that went. Since then Brady has always had it in for the Chiefs as well, and I think we all remember how that went.
You literally left out the best part!!!! Even in the last seconds, Arizona was marching to another touchdown. It was super insane to watch, because even with that short amount of time left, you never doubted it was possible until Polomalu ended it with an amazing interception. There was an extra layer of drama in the last 30 seconds left off of this, and it is disappointing.
This was the second best Super Bowl I’ve ever seen next to the first giants patriots game. Funny enough during the second giants pats super bowl the cable company shut my boys cable off during the game. I bounced and he got pissed I didn’t wanna stay. Like bro I’m here to watch the Super Bowl and your cables shut off I’m out. But yeah the cardinals Steelers game was fucking amazing and I remember watching that game. Shit was amazing. James Harrison’s run was insane considering he looked like he could hit but he seemed out of his element have to run.
Not only does the end of sudden death raise the probability of ties, but the change of 15 minutes to a 10 minute overtime makes goes even MORE likely. It’s almost like the NFL WANTs ties to happen.
This was my second Super Bowl as a football fan, I lived in New York as I watch the Giants beat the Pats and then I move down to North Carolina so for my second season even though my team did good, the highlight of the whole year was the Superbowl party me and my friends through and I remember Santonio Holmes with that toe tap touchdown when the game and it sucked cuz I had $5 on the Cardinals and as a twelve-year-old that was literally my life savings, which makes me laugh my ass off thinking about it now
My dad passed in Sept. 2008. That Cardinals run was the only thing I could look forward to in the following months. Made the loss that much more heartbreaking, but I'm thankful for the run.

Then had a chance for home field but lost in OT to Giants. And in final game Kasay made GW FG to to clinch FG over division over a surging Falcons team. Williams & Stewart made a great tandem too.
I cried that day
Excellent video! This season happened during my senior year of highschool. It was a good time to be a Steelers fan and a fan of defensive football. I never celebrated harder in my life than that James Harrison Superbowl interception return for a td.
Shoot that nostalgia straight into my veins, Brandon!
Drop more season recaps and player season recaps because people really like those.
@Nicegram_ThatsGoodSports.. Ohhh what !?! That's crazy good looks thanks man
As a Dolphins fan this might be my favorite season ever that I have witnessed as a fan. And getting to talk shit for 3 full hours as the Dolphins dominated them with the Wildcat.
this brings back so many good memories of past nfl players etc :)
i miss brian westbrook
15 yard penalty you gave Tom Brady a Dirty look, is the actual "Brady rule"
Man I wanted this win for Kurt so bad as a die hard rams fan.....
In my lifetime circa 30 years the game winning catch by Holmes is the greatest throw I've ever seen
The 2008 Eagles are statistically the best 9 win playoff team ever with a 127 point differential.
They even had the best DVOA in the league that year. Almost all their wins were by double digits and almost all their losses were by 1 possession.
Go Birds
Kurt Warner always had a plethora of weapons, even with his short stint in NY. Idk how no one talks about it.
Brandon "wtf, I didn't get a notification" Perna
Donovan McNabb didn’t know ties could happen 😂😂😂😂😂
I remember that. Oh geeze.
Joe Flacco was insanely overrated in his prime but the one thing that wasnt overrated was his arm he had an absolute cannon
That Clay Mathews Sr joke was a banger
You literally left out the best part!!!! Even in the last seconds, Arizona was marching to another touchdown. It was super insane to watch, because even with that short amount of time left, you never doubted it was possible until Polomalu ended it with an amazing interception. There was an extra layer of drama in the last 30 seconds left off of this, and it is disappointing.
Fun fact: The only team other than ne to miss the postseason with a record of 11-5 were the Denver Broncos
Honestly I forgot about how good of a Carolina backfield Williams - Stewart was.
Not only does the end of sudden death raise the probability of ties, but the change of 15 minutes to a 10 minute overtime makes goes even MORE likely. It’s almost like the NFL WANTs ties to happen.
This was my second Super Bowl as a football fan, I lived in New York as I watch the Giants beat the Pats and then I move down to North Carolina so for my second season even though my team did good, the highlight of the whole year was the Superbowl party me and my friends through and I remember Santonio Holmes with that toe tap touchdown when the game and it sucked cuz I had $5 on the Cardinals and as a twelve-year-old that was literally my life savings, which makes me laugh my ass off thinking about it now
The 426 points allowed has to be a record for a team that made the Superbowl.
