  • Maybe this makes me a "guru" but I just can't give away everything I know for free, I'm sorry. I want to help people, but trying to help everybody requires a lot more time, effort, and energy than I initially thought. And doing everything for free just took time away from me running my own agency and I wasn't really able to help people because I was just giving 1 sentence answers to very complex and complicated questions.
So, I created The Mogul thinking that it would be better to FULLY help 1 person, than to partially help 100 people. Everything, all in one place to help someone succeed to the best of my ability while getting paid for my work. I'm pretty confident I can bring anyone success as long as they are willing to put in the effort on their end. If you watched my free videos on RUclips, imagine the value I would give you if I was actually getting paid.

I think the shift is what most people struggle with; shift of getting out of the comfort zone, going from instant gratification to delayed gratification.

The idea that addiction and discipline are the same thing, is mind blowing.

    • @judah142
      @judah142 9 месяцев назад +33

I’d argue they’re different, although maybe definitions of discipline shift from person to person. Discipline seems to be more of a function of self control and organization while addiction is the obsession and passion.

This really resonated with me. Thank you bro. I used to be addicted to videogames too spending at least 6 hours a day in front of a computer. I had nothing else going on in my life back then and all I wanted to do was be very good at this video game. I'd literally prioritize getting better at this game at the cost of sabotaging the relationship I had with my family and friends. I would show up for 5 minutes at the dinner table to quickly eat so I can go back to my pc. Fast forward 3-4 years later I now play video games maybe once or twice a year, trying to be better in university and get better grades, I'm in the best shape of my life, had my first heartbreak, tried making money online with different businesses, made great friends in university, and now have a much better relationship with my family, but yet, I don't have a clue what I truly want to do for a living. I need to find something I can be obsessed with again.

I've often thought about the parallels between video games and life. The idea that you play within this system, starting without knowing anything, where you figure out what works best for you and you do it over and over and over again, then you get good, then you get really good and get that natural game sense. It really is addiction, obsession, the ability to just keep at it until you get it. Great video.

You're getting Dopamine from winning, therefore you're addicted.
Its not a hard concept to understand, in the past I was highly addicted to my businesses as-well.
I also was an ex-gamer who hit 6 figures, etc etc.
I'd wake up everyday to tons of money in my account, it felt like a videogame, what isn't there to love?
The hard part is doing the job when you aren't winning, or when you get used to the money.
The hard part is relentless studying, refinement, etc, especially for those who can't hit rewards quickly.
The opposite end of motivation is hating your life, if you hate your life badly enough, you'll change it.
Everything I do now is raw discipline, I rarely get motivated now.
I just know if I'm not winning, I'm losing.

This is a fresh perspective. Addiction has a bad rep. But if we think deeper, we are addicted to things that makes us feel good. If we can think of the goals we want to achieve in life as a form of addiction instead of work - which usually suggests hard work, it makes the struggles and failures along the way less scary. Thanks for sharing your realisation.

This is an interesting take. Obviously gotta be careful with addiction- you don’t wanna become addicted to making money in a gambling sense… and you may have more talent than you realize. Right now you think it’s easy but that’s the definition of talent.
I like the way you put it, but how to get addicted to something? It’s not easy for people to get addicted to something they don’t like doing. Usually addiction comes from a bad place like avoidance… look into addiction so you can be in control of your “talents” or discipline

I had this same realization about "being addicted" many years ago. That's what made me a successful UX Designer in my country. I would study day and night everyday for years and would talk to people about Design most of the time. Got a job, then climbed the ladder up to where I am now.
The issue I'm facing is I want to do something else now, but I'm not living in my parents house anymore, I'm on my own. Also I have a lot more finantial obligations and social expectations to fulfill, so I can't picture myself being addicted enough to start something else from the bottom again. It would take many years to get where I am now finantially. And I don't have the energy to to start a side hustle, also I believe it would take double the time because I wouldn't be "addicted enough" if it was only a side hustle, you know? It's really unmotivating.
It's like that "golden handcuffs" thing some people talk about here on RUclips. I don't consider mine to be golden, maybe mine are silver ones, but the effect they have on me is the same anyway. Life is hard 😑

  • @richfff2683

i know this is semantics and im probably wrong, but i think a obsession would be a fit for this. It's because addiction has to do with outside forces while obsession is the internal reason of why you are doing it. There is no thinking with addiction you just want the thing that gives you dopamine and eventually it stop being fun, but then you just do it out of habit and it continues falls off. While obsession on the other hand comes from the reasoning and desires that exists internally that causes you to act, so even when the lows are low with a strong enough obsession you can soldier on until.

You don’t, 2-3x a week is good enough honestly, eventually progress to 4 if you want but 2-3x a week is A. Better then NONE and B. Enough to see noticeable results. Everyday or even near everyday is not good as it leaves you little time to recover, people often overlook the recovery part which is very important too.

I love this. I love how you mentioned you rid of your car. I grew a similar sentiment not too long ago. For a period in my life, my vehicle was such a hassle especially when I was in a city where everything was so accessible and interconnected with public transit. I just did not care to have a car.

I think that in all that grinding journey you should not forget about enjoying it. There should be a balance between your passion and other parts of your life to feel more fulfilled, happy and not to burn out. Years go by, making memories is a good way to go!

Not really the type of advice I was looking for, but congrats on achieving it! And yes! Your drive will be your addiction, the more you put into it, the more you’ll achieve. no one said it was going to be easy, but the fact that it IS something you are passionate about, will make any challenges worth surpassing. Keep it up everyone.

The purpose of life is not the abundance of possessions as many think. For they will soon vanish. The bigger issue is your purpose in life and your calling. It is not merely what you do, but who you are becoming.
That which comes easily quickly flees, but the process of life experience develops a passion and determination that no one can take away.

It’s so vital to curb the self-limiting beliefs because they prevent you from stepping into your assignment and starting your journey. (Im there and being self aware is the first step toward changing)

This video is worth 100,000,000 views. You figured it out and it is truly that simple. This video helped me a great deal as someone who has also accomplished many things but failed to see that it was the addiction for acquiring what i wanted that got me here. Goodluck to your channel and i hope you continue to remain addicted to your growth. (btw also a big youtuber commenting from my "private" account 😊 )

I LOVE this video! I spend so much time thinking and strategizing, and less time actually getting addicted to taking action. Really appreciate the bit about you saying you aren’t especially gifted or skilled at a particular thing, just addicted. Makes me have more belief in my self.

I found obsession/addiction is what allows your mind to break free of others expectations because obsession/addictions gives you the sign-on bonus for drive, motivation, and to finally achieve that first little goal. You have 24 hours in your day, 6-8 hours of them needs to be sleep, addiction/obsession will know what to do with the rest of the day's hours, THEN, one day... it will feel like you got to where you wanted in way less time than you thought and now your obsession is finding the next move with zero, I mean ZERO mental strength. Because you just wired your mind to allow fight or flight for anything that gets in your way of the knowledge/XP you acquired for success. Side advice, be aware of any greedy traits and watch your behavior on how you react to new money. Money CAN be a drug disguised as a friend, don't enable it. I started a business 3 years ago, grossed over 700k and failed this year due to a different/worse addiction because of "ding ding ding", greed. Stay in your lane, build the bag.

I can relate to that "addiction" thing. Anything I get addicted to I put in so much effort and focus and that leads me to forums, youtube videos, saved bookmarks, articles, books, social media posts, and more. That's how I was able to surpass my son and wife in a game they've been playing for a couple of years now and even went as far as reaching the top rank that even they couldn't reach.
