Maybe my favorite Peart lyrical passage: "They shoot without shame...in the name of a piece of dirt, For a change of accent...or the color of your shirt. Better the pride that divides...in a citizen of the world. Than the pride that divides...when a colorful rag is unfurled." Just awesome.
I like the one they messed up in this video: In different circles we keep ho;ding our ground INDIFFERENT circles, we keep spinning round and round outstanding wordplay
"Better the pride that resides in a citizen of the world, than the pride that divides when a colorful rag is unfurled." Can never get enough of that line.
This is called the power windows to presto era - my favorite although i know it shouldn't be- but i embrace what people have not accepted - when people realize this era was pure gold it wont me ours anymore
That's such a killer song! So relevant then as well as today! Yes...the problem with drunken and passionate Tribes and "Blowhard" politicians stirring up petty nationalism and demagoguing against the "enemies of the people". That is now! But, besides that...the musicianship is just so freaking phenomenal! Awesome reaction! By the way, another song that covers some of the same ground musically and thematically -- that of politics of the Cold War -- is a song called "Red Lenses". Have you heard that one yet? It is really quirky but super-cool proto-Industrial Keys and crazy Primal beats, just like Territories! Check it out! It's from the Grace Under Pressure album!
I read/listened to Neil's books and he was discussing this song in one of them and how people move around the world from place to place in search of what they don't have...If you haven't read his books check them out, they give you a look inside the man, the enigma that was Neil Peart!
This is one of my favorite songs from them. I never tire of hearing it. The whole thing is put together perfectly from beginning to end, with all three excelling in every way! It was great seeing them perform it live!
Neil Peart left us before Corona hit as he already warn us all in all the lyrics he wrote. There are a lot of songs that he wrote that we can relate to what’s happening now.
Yeah....Peart knew how cruel and evil Republican Party politics are in general. Wrote about it extensively in his books as well. So sad that Neil didn't have a chance to write about this evil President America now has.
@Shallex Not propagating shit. You want Neil's quotes on GOP party in America? Neil was more of a third party guy, but he said Democrats are the only choice in America based on the hypocrisy and cruelty of GOP politics.
@Shallex Are you kidding me? How can Neil feel anything about GOP today? He is dead. GOP party is FAR WORSE than they ever have been in the past and they were plenty bad when Neil was criticizing them.
@Shallex Here's a Neil quote for you: "For a person of my sensibility, you're only left with the Democratic party," says Peart, who also calls George W. Bush "an instrument of evil." "If you're a compassionate person at all. The whole health-care thing - denying mercy to suffering people? What? This is Christian?"
Absolute masterpiece the perfect Rush song.Everything maxed out the bass drums and Alexs lead were incredible what a riff too loved the Eastern feel to it and wow those lyrics so deep and true
So many of Neil's lyrics were so on point and prophetic at the same time. Check out: A Farewell to Kings, Witchhunt, Half the World, Test for Echo, etc...
The older I get the more I appreciate Neil's genius. These lyrics , as I'm writing today and Russia have invaded Ukraine, have even more meaning and poignancy
I always felt that Geddy was the featured artist in this Era of Rush music. Love the big sound when he combines the bass and keyboards together! Great reaction bud.
"Territories" is my favorite song off the now 35 yo album, Power Windows. I will say it's kind of unfair to listen to it without first listening to the album's previous song, "Manhattan Project." Hearing the 2 songs back to back will provide insight into some limited history. For the USA, Reagan was into his second term. The United States military was still in the midst of a huge build up. And remember that the US continues to remain the only country to ever use nuclear weapons on a civilian population TWICE. "They shoot without shame, in the name of a piece of dirt...."
J’ai toujours aimé cette chanson. Alex, le guitariste n’est pas aussi actif, mais c’est très juste et génial. Il va sans dire que Neil et Geddy sont en grande forme. Merci, d’autre Rush SVP... ou du Plume...
I love Rush but this song never really grew on me. On every Rush album there is always one filler or throw away song: On Signals it was The Weapon, On grace Under Pressure it was Red Lenses, On Hold Your Fire it was Tai Shan... There's always one. On Power Windows it was Territories.
Olá amigo, ótimo trabalho. Amo Rush, minha banda preferida de todos os tempos . Mas faz uma reação de 3 obras primas que são : Lunar Sea do Camel, Loneliness do Grand Funk Railroad e The Last Voyage do Gentle Giant. Mas não esquece Pitágoras dos Mutantes, garanto que vai cair de costas quando ouvir. a HUGE miss of the lyric video here is the words “in different circles” and “indifferent circles” in the chorus. The meaning is lost when it isn’t transcribed correctly.
This song keeps on giving, the more you listen to it, the more you pick out. Much like this whole album. This album is just a cornucopia of musical genius.
Peart should win a Nobel prize for his lyrics, Dylan did. Pearts lyrics say more to me than Dylans ever could.
That is a bold yet totally true statement
Agree
Yes sir buddy!
Damn right!! I like where your head is at.
Unfortunately it will never happen as recipients must be alive to receive the prize. Agree with the sentiment though.
Guitar 🎸 god
Bass 🎸 god
Drum 🥁 god
Rush ... The Best Ever!!!
Great breakdown!
The second "in different" is actually "indifferent" which is a completely different meaning. I hate it when lyric videos get it wrong. :/
Absolutely. Especially Neil's lyrics!
Glad you noticed that,, gives the song more meaning 👍🏻
I agree, and yet it works. Many are just spinning round and round in their ignorance.
I framed these words and put them on my wall, I was at the show of hands concert and this live with the tribal masks was awesome.
thank you for validating my same sentiment
"Better the pride that resides"
I like the one they messed up in this video:
In different circles we keep ho;ding our ground
INDIFFERENT circles, we keep spinning round and round
outstanding wordplay
Such powerful lyrics by Neil, this album is so underrated as is Hold Your Fire as a whole
"Better the pride that resides in a citizen of the world, than the pride that divides when a colorful rag is unfurled." Can never get enough of that line.
All these years later this song still blows me away! RUSH speaks TRUTH!!! 🎶🎸🥁🎸🎶🔥🙂
This is called the power windows to presto era - my favorite although i know it shouldn't be- but i embrace what people have not accepted - when people realize this era was pure gold it wont me ours anymore

"Geddy Lee is a nasty doughnut"; oh my God; love it!
Next up. Losing It,, lyric video. Deep, deep, gorgeous song. You won’t regret it.
RUSH's music is timeless and their lyrics are prophetic! 🎶🎶🎶👍👍👍👯♂️👯♂️👯♂️
This song and Manhattan Project are my two favorites from Power Windows
Alex plays Taurus pedals more often than you may think, by the way. And occasionally, keyboards. And for me, Alex is THE guitar god.
This is one of my favorite songs from them. I never tire of hearing it. The whole thing is put together perfectly from beginning to end, with all three excelling in every way! It was great seeing them perform it live!
Seen Rush live 3 times in the day!
Geddy, Neil, and Alex are simply some of the best musicians you will ever hear! End of story!!!
Absolutely one of my favorite Rush tunes of all time. Killer guitar riffs, drums to die for and lyrics second to none.
I am 53 .. RUSH are still my favourite band, I am a Drummer and am Just amazed at the musical proficiency . Its Second to none.
Oh for a world where this song would get the attention it deserves...
Not often reacted to, but one of the best songs on the album imo.

@Shallex Also. this is far more than "politics" in Trump era. It's right vs wrong.
@Shallex Are you kidding me? How can Neil feel anything about GOP today? He is dead. GOP party is FAR WORSE than they ever have been in the past and they were plenty bad when Neil was criticizing them.

Not so much prophetic, as pointing out what is the human condition throughout history. Self destructive behavior is human nature and defies time.
Awesome...the whole album. Such high quality...for example Alex's solo on 'Emotion Detector'...and Geddy on...everything!
Alex in everything!
@@winstonlane708 Goes without saying...and Neil too.
Exquisite ... Classy ... Genius!!!
Talking about lifes events from the past. Mind blower!!
check out the live version!!
If you like this one you'd probably like heresy/larger bowl/the way the wind blows.
Marathon is my favorite from Power Windows. Thanks for sharing!
Sucks it never got no props in the '80s when all us geeks were buying and praising their albums
...
Grand designs and Manhattan project from this album
I agree! Mr. Peart is the goat but Geddy is the man in this album!
You'll love Half the World and Grand Design.
Another great song from an underrated album.
its a rush type of night for me 83% of the last 2 years ... I need your input on what this song means..
"Territories" is my favorite song off the now 35 yo album, Power Windows. I will say it's kind of unfair to listen to it without first listening to the album's previous song, "Manhattan Project." A better song for this time is "A farewell to kings"
This songs great too. Nice reaction.
A very Canadian way to see the world.
A song for the times. Live version on clockwork angels tour is awesome
Alex tore it up in this one !!!
FAKE REACTION TO GET TO THE NEXT one............
Do Middletown Dreams next off Power Windows
Glad you are back to doing Rush, check out Between the Wheels from Grace Under Pressure
that bass killing me
Rush is one of those bands where every song is a diffrent texture and journy
Great fn song.
😂 Comique.
This song on their "Show of Hands" tour live video was amazing.
Keep in mind, Neil does the lyrics then Geddy goes over it. Then they come a agreement!
I love Rush but this song never really grew on me. On every Rush album there is always one filler or throw away song: On Signals it was The Weapon, On grace Under Pressure it was Red Lenses, On Hold Your Fire it was Tai Shan... There's always one. On Power Windows it was Territories.
🔥My reaction to "losing it" by Rush was blocked but is posted on my Instagram here --- @tonebonetunes
Give a listen to all of the 'Parts of Fear'. All 4 are amazing.

Isn't it the truth....man's inhumanity to man but its sick reliance on tech to solve all of our never ending problems.
Neil wondered, can you play a song with no snare?
What do you think?
There is snare in this song, but you right. Toms steal the show here. Love it. Really fits the middle eastern vibe.
Where has this guy gone? I hope he's okay.
Gotta get that donut bro. Feed the people lol
Frickin makes me cry
TUNNNNNNEEEEEEEE!!!!!
1:16 lol :)
Geddy have 3 brains
china
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

RUSH ain't for dancin'.
Actually it is! I went to a Rush tribute concert a few years ago and there were girls there and they were dancing! Surreal. 😊
