Omg I see a bit of resemblance from Dad but Mom is gorgeous and Kara looks just like her. Same fun personality they both have too. Loved this!!!❤ PS. I totally agree with you Mom bugs are not cool😊
As I watched I was constantly in a state of "I so miss my Mom". So much so that the tears just kept insisting to have their way. She was my best friend and we were very much similar to you and yours. Your mom is awesome....hug her extra tight for those of us who can't hug ours any more. Love you guys and thanks for sharing this adventure.
"how good is the mattress?" "is there a mattress????" howling🤣🤣we now need a series on this channel of Kara's mum just reviewing different travel experiences, she's already iconic
Cherish these times. I lost my mom 3 weeks ago and she was my travel buddy. Every year we did a mother daughter trip and I am so thankful we did. Thos totally reminds me of our journeys together. We were actually supposed to do a train trip to New Orleans but she got too sick to travel and we didn't make it. I had no idea your mom was with you when I started watching this so that was crazy. It definitely was bitter sweet for me to watch this. Take as many trips with her and create these memories for a lifetime.
I was just diagnosed with epilepsy and partially because of you and your journey. I videotaped my seizure. Thought it was just fainting episodes my whole life. Thank you for sharing your journey.
As a former journalist, I can tell you that what you do isn't that different from what I used to do in print. Being a professional busy-body and crafting a compelling narrative from a pile of facts was my whole life for a while. You and Nate do a phenomenal job at it, too.
I am a current journalist and I can confirm that over the years Kara and Nate have become expert storytellers. Producing, writing, editing and presenting video dispatches from all over the world was a dream of mine for years but I was born a little too early for today's awesome opportunities. Bravo K & N!
Trip with Mother. The best thing you can do, trust me. I took a train trip with my mother, "79 at the time" on Amtrak 2 years ago. It was her last trip and it was so fun. Train was 10 hours late, we were both so tired we couldn't see straight, but we laughed ourselves silly and had the BEST TIME EVER. Treasure the time spent with your mother, Kara. There is nothing more special
My mother passed away this year. I agree 100%. You never, ever get this time back. Enjoy the trips you have with your parents. They are core memories which will last with you forever long after they've gone.
Just so you know, when you left LA, that train is actually going to New Orleans, train 2, the Sunset Limited. Your car, and the coach in front of it (with the fugitive in it), were detached in San Antonio in the middle of the night and attached to the Texas Eagle, train 22. You probably slept through that. Your cars are called "through cars" in railroad-speak, and have the train number 422. The Texas Eagle runs San Antonio to Chicago daily. On the days the Sunset Limited runs, those two cars are attached in San Antonio and continue to Chicago. The other days the Texas Eagle runs without them. Also, you weren't actually in Mexico, but your Mom's phone got connected to a Mexican cell tower for a bit, hence the "welcome to Mexico" messages. My cousins live along the St. Lawrence River in upstate NY, and often get "welcome to Canada" messages. You were, however, very, very close to the border near El Paso. You could look out the window and see the border fence just outside the train. Your Mom is a hoot!
The St. Lawrence! All of my mother’s family still lives in the Ogdensburg area and I’m there all the time. Years ago you had to call your cell carrier and tell them your location because the Canadian towers were picking up all the signals. Did many a battle with AT&T! Thank goodness it’s no longer the hassle it used to be.
Flying to NY from California or Chicago, etc. you will generally get a message about having arrived in Canada bc of the arc and route they fly over. Same with Europe home as they fly over Nova Scotia, so they pick up the signal from the tower (think of the tower like a big umbrella.)
I lost my mom in December and your all's laughter just gave me so much joy because it reminded me of the way we would cut up together. Thank you for this ❤
I still call my mom mama, and I just turned 21 (ik that's still young but around my area, people think calling their parents something like mama, mommy, daddy, etc are childish, so it's nice to see people not grow out of what they call their parents)
Thank you for being real when it comes to talking about your epilepsy and how your cycle effects it. It is important to show how women's bodies change over the course of the month and to show that our symptoms are real. I hope the best for you and that particular journey. This trip is the best kind of travel. Glad you and your Mama got that quailty time!
When i got diagnosed with epilepsy (JME) we noticed the same thing with the period cycle and it was making me have seizures! Now im taking medication for it, ive been 9 months seizure free!
@Pickle_surprize1121 🤣🤣🤣 Chiropractic school literally has more neurology in their curriculum than medical school. The nervous system is the physiological focus of chiropractic. Acupuncture was developed 3,000 years ago and its effects are far reaching. Modern medicine is 100 years old. Prior to the 1900's, they used leeches, and other blood letting techniques to rid a body of most illnesses. The worst thing about your comment is that some uninformed people agreed. That is sad for all of you.
I’m so happy you took this trip with your mom! I always wanted to go on a girls only trip with my mom. Sadly she passed 3 years ago and we never got to take that trip. My Dad passed away a month later. So, never take your parents for granted and definitely take mom to the Maldives! Because, unfortunately our parents don’t live forever. ❤️
My mother just died today, Love watching this, So much joy between mother and her daughter. Love the closeness you both have and the laughter. :) Enjoy every moment together.
Watching Kara vlog with her mom reminds me of Kara and Nate’s OG vlogging days. Kara is just so much more relaxed, less polished. Not that either version is better than the other, just that it was nice to see you and your mom have such genuine moments together. I’m glad you got to have such quality family time and I wish you the best with figuring out your meds. It seems there is a light at the end of the tunnel and it’s creeping closer everyday. Thanks for another amazing video!

It's a hard thing to go through you and nate to see them. You guys are Rockstars. ( that's what I would tell the kiddo after the seizure. You're a rock star!!!
I'm loving watching you and mom having this unforgettable quality time together. It's 10 years since I lost her on Nov. 13 and this takes me back to the time we took the train from Minneapolis to Chicago for a girls weekend with her best friend who was living in MI at the time -Chicago -a good midway point -and I'd give anything to take that trip again -no - I'd just give anything to see her again and tell her I miss her and love her.
Kara, I swear if I ever met you in person you’d be my best friend!! Love your personality!! This year has been tough, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Kara - I admire you so much for continuing to live life with the condition you have. I also went thru a traumatic heart event that nearly took me out. I'm afraid to be alone after that and I am in counseling since March. I am getting better, but it is a hard path. I admire your positivity even in isolation like a train or the crazy places you go. I was on an island when my event happened and the nearest ambulance was 25 minutes away. I am scarred from that forever. Love y'all.
Kara , maybe it would be an awesome trip to go away with your girls, your mum, Nate's mum and your sister and sister in law , somewhere warm and pretty , with some cool things to do and a spa , plus your mum is lovely , sending love to you and your family
Yeah because the very first shots on the train are of a lady who sure looks like Kara but isnt Kara. I'm thinking she LOOKS like Kara. Who is she? Never occurred to me that she was your mom!! But I am very glad she was with you on the train and that you had such a memorable train journey.

Aside from that little mishap you had there, I’m glad you and your mom had a great experience with Amtrak on the Sunset Limited/Texas Eagle long-distance train Kara. I’ve always been a fan of Amtrak’s long distance services just like the Coast Starlight from your other video and no matter which one you take, they always provide excellent service and amenities for long-distance travel. Whether it’s serving various snacks and meals for passengers in the dining and cafe cars or the many amazing views one can see or experience from the Sightseer Lounge car which has always been my favorite part of the journey. Also a couple interesting *fun facts*; your rooms were at the very end of the train because Amtrak’s Sunset Limited/Texas Eagle uses the standard long-distance Amtrak consist with an extra sleeping car on the end of the train unlike the others that is then set out along with the last coach car in San Antonio for the Texas Eagle. It’s always nice to see and hear Amtrak P42DC locomotive 5 leading your train. This is especially true since many of Amtrak’s GE Genesis series of locomotives are still running on various trains throughout the network even with many of them being over 20+ years old with an on-going replacement process of the newer Siemens ALC-42 Charger locomotives on other Amtrak long-distance trains including my favorite one, the Coast Starlight!!! Absolutely incredible to see!!!! Also that was a nice shot of Amtrak California Non-Powered Control Unit 90225 at 5:57 which along with another Non-Powered Control Unit or NPCU for short 90215 and single-level passenger cars was actually brought down from Amtrak California’s San Joaquin intercity route in Northern California to Southern California for use on Amtrak’s Pacific Surfliner intercity route from Los Angeles to San Diego and San Luis Obispo. This was mainly due to a number of issues from several Siemens SC-44 Charger locos and Cab Cars having been withdrawn from regular service. Anyways, I'm a huge train fan so I know quite a lot about everything that's railroad and train-related; locomotives, rolling stock, horns, you name it. I always love it when people praise Amtrak for the variety of things they provide on any of their trains since it’s not really something all that discussed much in the USA. Another fantastic video, I once again really enjoyed it!!! I was also at L.A. Union Station awhile back for a special Railroad Safety Event too!!! :)
Im 28 & lost my mom 2 years ago so seeing this just warms my heart ❤️ always do stuff with your mom for as long as you can ❤️ y’all’s laughing spells got me thinking of my mama❤️ love your channel ❤️

I'm so glad I got to watch your trip with your mom. Despite all the drama, it looks like you got to spend some quality time together. I'm glad to hear things are looking up with your health.
Thanks for sharing, Kara. Life is sometimes hard to share. Your health journey, being shared, will help someone. Stay who you are. Stay safe and have fun.
All these years watching Kara and Nate and still don't know how he keeps up with her. She's like an energy bunny and Nate is a layback dude that just goes with flow
Kara I LOVE your mum! You and Nate both have the loveliest, funniest, most wholesome parents and I totally understand how you two turned out so awesome.
OK, I’ve never laughed so muchwatching a Kara & Nate video. I mean Nate is pretty funny sometimes but Kara and her mom are hilarious and so cute together and so similar. This is so delightful.
Your Mother is hysterical!! I LOVED the hysterical laughter after you would ask her questions. 😅😂It’s a Blessing to still have a mommie that follows her gut even when everyone else is leaning the other way. 🙂😘😍Kara, next time…….. take a plane.😂😂😂😂I was laughing so hard because you and your mom remind me of my daughters and I .😘😘🙌🏽🙏🏽Many Blessings🙌🏽🙏🏽
Kara and your mom 🫶 I've been binge watching from the start, I had a goal to watch as many and not watch the most recent video until this video, for some reason I just had to watch it, not due to the title it was a spiritual feeling. When I saw mother daughter trip it all made sense. As the death anniversary of my mom is coming up in a few days it has brought up all the best memories of my mom and me times. I had been so depressed and just consumed by sadness until this evening. There are angels among us. Thank you Much love 🤗
Dear Kara, You are such a bright, shiny presence in a world that needs that so much. I’ve followed you guys since 2018 and just want to express how much I appreciate your joyous personality! ✨ I pray for your health and 🙏continued happiness. Much Love From Seattle!
Right!! Nate’s parents in ICELAND 🇮🇸 and Kara’s mom gets Amtrak 😮 I would have preferred to watch her fly there in 3 hours and then enjoy a 5 star hotel with a trip to the spa !!!
Thanks for sharing this experience with your Mom with us! You're so lucky that you have this relationship with her. And kudos to you for zeroing in on your epilepsy symptoms!
Kara, love your journeys that you and Nate take us viewers on. Love the fact that your seizures don’t have that much effect on you and your journey. As a person with Non-epileptic seizures (NES), I can relate to you about the memory loss. Can’t wait to see your next journey.
This was a delightful video with your mom! Continued prayers for you, Kara, regarding your epilepsy. Thank you for your willingness to be vulnerable - that's not easy to do.
I love seeing you and your beautiful, joy-filled relationship with your mom! I bet she misses you so much when you travel! Thanks for sharing your trip with us!
I have really bad OCD around the bathroom so I have a really tough time showering. I shower once (or twice a week if I have to go to anything) but luckily I barely ever sweat. Unfortunately I still feel horrible about myself because my OCD is also telling me that if I go out around people, they'll think I'm gross and smelly because I know people have this feeling abour it. I'll think I'm gross though I've had multiple friends check that I don't smell.. I hate that people can be so judgement about it. You don't even know if she smells, you just assumes so.
OMG. "Slightly more life threatening." This video hit all the emotions. Happy, scared, funny, sweet. This video is up there with Nate with his grandfather.
I've been wondering about your mom for ages, so to see the two of you on a train in matching hats and laughing the exact same way was SO FUN. She seems wonderful! She should show up more often!
So glad to see your mom in your video. Hope to see more of her. BTW, you look just like her. It’s so amazing the similarities. Glad to that you’ve detected what looks like a trend in your diagnosis. I hope it continues to improve for you and your wonderful families. Nate is truly a blessed and wonderful man to have in your life. God bless you all🙏🏾❤️❤️❤️❤️
To travel with family is not always easy. Kara , you and your mom were sweethearts. So nice to see your mom shine in this video. Our thoughts and prayers are always with you Kara. I love your mom!! I love your mom and you together!! So many sound bites!!! LOL 😂❤ I’m watching while drinking my first morning coffee and dying!!!! 😂😂😂
When I first saw your Mum, I actually thought I was seeing Kara because of the laugh, then I took a double take. I think we know what Kara would look and be like when she gets older - absolutely beautiful and hilarious.
Well, I’ve only seen a couple of y’all’s videos make that three or four, I’ve got to say you were such a breath of fresh air. I think I smiled through the whole thing. Thank you.

That ability to laugh at yourselves and at what is going on around you is priceless, your mum's amazing, but so are you.
I'm so glad I got to watch your trip with your mom. Despite all the drama, it looks like you got to spend some quality time together. I'm glad to hear things are looking up with your health.
I'm happy Kara and Nate are having alone time from eachother ❤ feels refreshing to watch doing their own thing 😇
Thanks for sharing, Kara. Life is sometimes hard to share. Your health journey, being shared, will help someone. Stay who you are.
Stay safe and have fun.
This has just made my day 10 times better 😂😂
All these years watching Kara and Nate and still don't know how he keeps up with her. She's like an energy bunny and Nate is a layback dude that just goes with flow
Kara I LOVE your mum! You and Nate both have the loveliest, funniest, most wholesome parents and I totally understand how you two turned out so awesome.
Your mom deserves a luxury resort trip!
I absolutely love Kara's mom's energy ❤❤❤ they are such a riot together 🎉 love it
OK, I’ve never laughed so muchwatching a Kara & Nate video. I mean Nate is pretty funny sometimes but Kara and her mom are hilarious and so cute together and so similar. This is so delightful.
Loved seeing Kara and her mom's relationship. So cute, loved the journey this video took me on. Will forever be thankful for y'alls videos!
I have seizures during my cycle as well! I was diagnosed with Catamenial Epilepsy 15 years ago. Women are so strong!!!!! We are amazing!!!
We need more of Kara and her mother. Comedy gold.
Wanted fugitive?? Is it you, Kara? What did you do?!
🤣😂❤
I don't see Nate in this train... could he be...
Who wouldn't want Kara?
Thank you
Much love 🤗
Dear Kara,
You are such a bright, shiny presence in a world that needs that so much. I’ve followed you guys since 2018 and just want to express how much I appreciate your joyous personality! ✨ I pray for your health and 🙏continued happiness. Much Love From Seattle!
Kara’s mom calling her pookie took me out😂😂🫶🏻
Kara - YOUR MOM IS A WHOLE VIBE AND I LOVE HER! Please take her to the Maldives. Find more points Nate lol
You owe your mom a trip to the Maldives! 😁
Right!! Nate’s parents in ICELAND 🇮🇸 and Kara’s mom gets Amtrak 😮
I would have preferred to watch her fly there in 3 hours and then enjoy a 5 star hotel with a trip to the spa !!!
@@degunver7672except she is going with Kara to her specialists visit 😊
Thanks for sharing this experience with your Mom with us! You're so lucky that you have this relationship with her. And kudos to you for zeroing in on your epilepsy symptoms!
Kara, love your journeys that you and Nate take us viewers on. Love the fact that your seizures don’t have that much effect on you and your journey. As a person with Non-epileptic seizures (NES), I can relate to you about the memory loss. Can’t wait to see your next journey.
The fugitive has got to be Kara!! Stealing hearts in over a hundred countries! ❤
For anybody reading this a hope you have a blessed day
When Kara finally introduces her mom to us, it's bound to be a wild ride... 😅
16:39 ONCE A WEEK
I know
I have really bad OCD around the bathroom so I have a really tough time showering.
😧
Once a week shower? Is that like peeing in a pool? Let’s take a survey Kara?
I have to say I was shocked to hear that and came looking for this comment. Love Kara but I could never haha
😂😂😂 maybe she was exaggerating
no frl i hope it was a joke 😭😭
Omg I need 2 showers a day.
@@teresaqureshi9909me too in hot summer temps ! Once a day in winter or I am uncomfortable as heck!
I feel like starting out in LA and skirting along the mexican border definitely set you all up for some weirdness 😂 glad you two stayed safe!
OMG. "Slightly more life threatening." This video hit all the emotions. Happy, scared, funny, sweet. This video is up there with Nate with his grandfather.
You're such a sweet genuine soul Kara. I hope you know that. Thanks for taking us along on your journeys. ❤
I am definitely #teammelissa. She’s a hoot😆
I can’t wait to start experiencing more train adventures!! The Orient Express is high on my bucket list!
Your mom is hilarious, she definitely deserves a trip to the Maldives in a glamorous hotel
I need parent advice from both Nate and Kara’s parents. As a new parent is great to see just a great relationship with all the parents!
I've been wondering about your mom for ages, so to see the two of you on a train in matching hats and laughing the exact same way was SO FUN. She seems wonderful! She should show up more often!
Omg your mom is THE BEST!!! Love seeing you two cracking up together! 😂
Your mom is a riot! She deserves the Maldives after this 😅🎉❤
Your momma deserves a really cool trip. And I want to watch your dad again! maybe somewhere in the Caribbean?.
Like a Costa Rican, cultural animal/vacationing trip!
Some warm destination and relax for her would be perfect I think
This is one of my fave videos. Kara laughing with her mom was too sweet. Kara's demeanor also was different. Maybe more relaxed or something? Loved it
So glad to see your mom in your video. Hope to see more of her. BTW, you look just like her. It’s so amazing the similarities. Glad to that you’ve detected what looks like a trend in your diagnosis. I hope it continues to improve for you and your wonderful families. Nate is truly a blessed and wonderful man to have in your life. God bless you all🙏🏾❤️❤️❤️❤️
Apologies, I thought all Amtrak rides came with at least one fugitive on board. 🤷♀️
To travel with family is not always easy. Kara , you and your mom were sweethearts. So nice to see your mom shine in this video. Our thoughts and prayers are always with you Kara.
Sounds like things are going in the right direction. Everyday we get up in the morning is a good day. Memory Moments Mom and Daughter. 😍 It's all good.
Jim and Harriet Richmond, Va.
Thank you.
