    Billy Kimber is the most real person from the series, and a lot of Thomas Shelby's story arcs from season 1 to 3 follow the pattern of the real Kimber's life. But even Kimber never made it as far up as the fictional Thomas Shelby.

      My understanding is that the fictional Shelby family had some Romani blood (genetically different than Irish) and had also come out of the Irish Traveler community (genetically Irish). Such mixing was not especially common. Not an expert, but I believe the Romani gypsies probably had more mystical, occultist beliefs, but the Irish in general had no shortage of superstitions and supernatural beliefs as well. (Big on curses, for sure.) There's a couple/few vids on YT that get into that. Here's one that really goes into details for 1.5 hours: ruclips.net/video/ak1CTBv5BTY/видео.html

    In season 1 episode 1 ..I believe towards the ending when they are purchasing the horses with the gypsy's /Roma travelers ...and they got into the scuffle with the. 3 men and they spoke in the old Roma language and he said the Shelby's their father was the king of the Roma the translation was not there and it really upset me what they meant to say was their father was the king of the gypsies/Roma just FYI for people to know because the translation wasn't a 100% I wonder why they translated that wrong??the father was the king but the king of what ?? the man said Roma , which is a proper way to say gypsies or travelers Just wanted to let people know that's what he meant that the Shelby's father was the king of the gypsies or the Roma. By the way it's absolutely true story

      I saw somewhere that they were using Romanian as opposed to Roma. Not sure why but might have been to make it easier for the actors. And I did wonder about the Gypsy side to the series; why would they put that in there, if there wasn't some link to the truth

    • @vericaz3894
      @vericaz3894 Год назад +2

      @@naughtiusmaximus5057 I think there's a lot of confusion people that don't understand what the show is about it literally is about gypsies Roma or travelers whatever they want to be called but that is exactly who it's about and they were real people but if that's what you're talking about yes it is about that but some people even when you explain in detail who and what these people are and they No they did not originate from India lol still have a hard time understanding it I don't know what to tell you But it is about the gypsies definitely.. And yes in the beginning they spoke the Romanian language from Romania because didn't have the proper linguistics individual to speak the language actual gypsy language and later on in the rest of the episodes they had that finally to keep it true to keep yeah that was kind of embarrassing I thought in the beginning they shouldn't have done that but I guess they learned from their mistake because people were complaining
