Luckily for me, I'm doing both! Enjoying it and modding it. It doesn't have to be one or the other. I don't think the C8 is perfect in its stock form and thus I'm making the appropriate changes to make it "perfect" for me. Let's be real here, guys. Car guys mod their cars to make it what they want it to be. That's what I'm doing. If you don't like these mods, don't do them to your C8's. I'm simply sharing my process, take it as you will.
I’ve ordered my AWE Touring system thanks to your videos, I’d order my system about 5 weeks ago, it’s arrived a few days ago, since my car still being build (3400) I dint open thebox to admire the work AWE did (plan on being installed while the car is being PDI’ed) got a pair of Soul Performance Cats and Attack Blue filter on the way as well ... modded before taking delivery 🚚!!

I can hear a difference though is subtle but definite... freer breathing, less muted and the interior idle is more pronounced
Exactly. In person it's louder and cleaner than stock and that's exactly what I wanted. The appearance being as amazing as it is was just icing on the cake.
Nice! Would have got a better gauge had the after sound shots had been done in same location instead of inside. So the valves opening and closing is no longer an option with this exhaust or any exhaust that’s out for the C8? The other thing is I don’t think I’d trust anyone outside of AWE doing this install. If they had recommended shops in my area I might consider.
It's not an overly difficult exhaust installation so anybody who can install it on a C8 Corvette could install this particular product. I have another video coming very soon that is basically nothing but sounds from this exhaust. It's definitely louder, It's definitely cleaner, and it definitely looks better.
I don't hate the square tips but I do like the round better. I have big round Corsa tips on my CTS-V and double round tips on my Audi S5. Both look good to me. Thanks for the Vlog! Congratulations on the new exhaust. Those guys look like they know what they're doing.

It had a built engine by www.zr1specialist.com/. It increased the crank HP from 375 to around 500. Good stuff back in the day. It had Borla exhaust and CAT deletes, good times. I am looking forward to a new C8 Z06.
I like the stock shiny square tips. For one thing I like shiny but it's obvious why the stock ones are square, just look at the rest of the rear. The whole rear is basically square shapes everywhere so square tips match it. Not sure why so many are freaking out over them, it looks good and flows with the rest of the rear. On camera it doesn't sound that much different, only a tiny amount louder. Probably need to hear it in person. But for the cost, I'd want A LOT more.
There's not much more you can ask for. If you want a lot louder you want to get sport cats. The back end of the car does not have a fitting look for square tips in my opinion but to each their own.

Sound is great, but what is the performance gain? Did you dyno the C8 before and after the exhaust mod? I ask because Hennessy claims a gain of 21 hp and 19 lb-ft of torque over stock as well as being 10 lbs lighter if you go with their exhaust.
I was wondering what the weight saving is? Have you ran it on the Dyno to see the difference in output. The fewer turns in the exhaust the better, AWE and Soul have the best setup in this respect.
How is the sound level when cruising? When we travel I usually set the cruise control at about 72MPH. I had a Corsa XTreme on my C7 and there was no drone in the cabin. Of course she really did bark when you hit the go pedal. I’m really up in the air in choosing a new exhaust for our 2022 C8. Cheers!
Sounds good, but can't tell if its better than the system on DDE, SS717, LMR, CSP, Emelia's, Stradman, Kooks, Hennessey, just other channels I watch for C8 content and have swapped out the exhaust...before going Twin Turbos.
It's hard to tell on video but I can tell you I prefer the AWE to the Soul Performance exhaust. I've heard both of them in person and the AWE sounds and looks better in my opinion.
I had mine installed there recently, drove it home and now I have the dreaded CEL. P12F0 "Exhaust Valve Stuck Open. Remote start not working now. Have you or anyone else had this issue after the AWE install?
The exhaust is $2,795.00. You'd want to contact them to see what they'd charge for labor. I know if you get them installed at Carlisle later this month it's free installation.
So is there an option to keep the exhaust value switch functioning or not? Also, I would get that rear plumbing Gold anodized that way you could really see it better through the mesh.

They documented everything to use in their installation manual so it took longer than usual. With that said, it would take a normal person around 3 hours.

Couldn't see anything leaking so I have to assume it's something from the highway. This system saves 31 pounds over stock and creates an extra 19 wheel horsepower.
I was curious as to why it was sporting a dealer tag. I agree it seems to sound better on the video than the stock. It's probably a lot different in person.
I had some trouble getting my personal plate due to this covid situation. Took about a week before I got it. My dealership (Klick Lewis) was nice enough to let me take the car with a dealer plate until mine came in. 👍👍
Exhaust is such a subjective and personal taste, but for me living here in Europe AWE is the way I would go. Nice sound!! and looking so good, and love the channel.. ;)

I understood your question. This exhaust does not use the stock baffles (which are used to change the sound between modes). The Track edition AWE exhaust is the same way only louder.
The exhaust after video was inside a warehouse. It doesnt really sound any different. Love the tips being round. Basically the stock exhaust has a x pipe inside the muffler and is better insulated from the factory against radiant heat into the cab.

I like the looks of the Hennessey unit as well but to me the AWE sounds better. I don't think anyone has cracked the ecu but I know some have possibly found a way to piggyback off the stock one.
Justin, you should replaced the restricted cats with Hi-flow cats to gain you at least 20 HP. There were right there... And it would have given you a stronger sound. AWE should also offer one without mufflers, just straight pipes.
They do. It's the track package. It also sounds way too loud (in my opinion) and that is the same reason I didn't change the cats. I wanted a stock + sound not horribly aftermarket, if that makes sense.

Thanks, Ben. I have had great luck with AWE. Their exhaust sounds fantastic on the C7 ZR1 and it looks and sounds amazing on the C8 as well. Definitely wouldn't even consider a different brand at this point.
Hennessy has tested hi-flow cats, but with stock heads with no porting, pistons, stock cam, stock headers and stock tune it was no gain of horsepower (but did increase the sound level by a couple db) But I don't know if that is worth $350-$800 on a good set of hi-flow cats for no additional power. The stock cats Chevrolet are using must flow pretty good. Now if he built his engine then hi-flow cats would be worth the money.
HorsePower Obsessed Check it again in a few weeks just to be sure. My C7 M7 had an ever so small leak from the transmission, would have never been an issue as the warranty would have expired before it became critical. Took it in and they fixed it without a problem.
I've been researching exhaust system upgrades...and one thing I see that is frequently mentioned is that "some...not all" exhaust upgrades come with a downside...and that is, they sometimes generate CEL (check engine light) alarms. I just visited the AWE web site and they say their system does not generate CEL's but it will generate...what they call a soft OBD2 P code. With all that said...have you experienced any CEL's that can be traced directly back to your exhaust upgrade?

It sounds awesome! Congratulations! I put my down payment to reserve my 2021 C8. I can't wait (at least 18 months out). 🥺 My question is...do you have the Z51 package and still decided to replace it with the AWE system? I'm not getting the Z51 package because I'm not tracking the car. But I was going take the factory upgrade muffler system. If that's the one you had then for sure I'll save the $1200 factory upgrade and just do the AWE.
Over 3 out of every 4 C8s have Z51 and very few are tracked. A lot of folks get it because they don't want loud, expensive run flat all season on their rear motor American luxury beauty. Also, some of the bells and whistles are worth it like the spoiler, splitter, Electronic Slip Dif, and enhanced gear ratios. I'm not tracking and I went Z51. Just took delivery this week, very exciting after that 18 month wait you mentioned.
Their installation ranges so you'd want to contact them for the best price (during corvettes at carlisle it's free) and the price of the exhaust is right around 2,700 with the black tips. The link is in the description if you'd like to buy one.

There are a few sets of headers out there but from what I've seen they actually lose power. I don't think I'd go much louder than this to be honest. At some point you lose that "refined" sound and start heavily into muscle car terrority.
I'd be tempted to go with a "reputable" set of headers that at least wouldn't lose power, but would give the "I'm come'n for you!" noise presence and have a non-factory electronic cut-out setup installed. The drawback to the factory dual-mode exhaust system is the valves are either totally open or totally closed. You can't "tune" the loudness with it. With an after-market setup you can open the flaps in an infinite amount of decibel settings . Literally you can "tune" the noise to what you and/or your passenger find comfortable. Heck, even with just the factory "headers," which don't look half bad, and no dual-mode option, I'd go with electronic cut-outs.

If the kit was made by GM I would consider it. I will not do aftermarket doors like that though because they are always junk.

There is a huge difference! Camera never picks up the exhaust sound quite right but in person it's louder, cleaner, and it definitely looks better.

What was the oil residual that you noticed when they removed the rear bumper?
After looking over the entire car it wasn't coming from mine. It must have been something I picked up on the highway.

AWE dynoed it and showed 19 horsepower and 15 lbft of torque increase. It also weighs 31 lb less than stock... 😮

No option for the valve switch. It's funny you mention that though, the tubing is actually starting to turn a gold/purple color from heat. 😈

I’m sure its nice but would have liked if you did a sound recording outside like you did with the stock exhaust. Please did another comparison before and after outside an echo chamber (building).

AWE touring edition. Weighs 38 pounds down from the 78 of the stock unit.
How long was the install?
They documented everything to use in their installation manual so it took longer than usual. With that said, it would take a normal person around 3 hours.

I had the Z51 "performance exhaust" and in my opinion the AWE is much better than that one. The cost is around 2,700.

Couldn't see anything leaking so I have to assume it's something from the highway. This system saves 31 pounds over stock and creates an extra 19 wheel horsepower.

I was curious as to why it was sporting a dealer tag. I agree it seems to sound better on the video than the stock. It's probably a lot different in person.
I had some trouble getting my personal plate due to this covid situation. Took about a week before I got it. My dealership (Klick Lewis) was nice enough to let me take the car with a dealer plate until mine came in. 👍👍
Exhaust is such a subjective and personal taste, but for me living here in Europe AWE is the way I would go. Nice sound!! and looking so good, and love the channel.. ;)

I understood your question. This exhaust does not use the stock baffles (which are used to change the sound between modes). The Track edition AWE exhaust is the same way only louder.

The exhaust after video was inside a warehouse. It doesnt really sound any different. Love the tips being round. Basically the stock exhaust has a x pipe inside the muffler and is better insulated from the factory against radiant heat into the cab.
In person it sounds way better. Louder, and cleaner. Plus it looks amazing. Definitely better all around.

I'm trying to decide between AWE and Hennessey have you heard the Hennessey.? Looks like Hennessey has ecu cracked.
I like the looks of the Hennessey unit as well but to me the AWE sounds better. I don't think anyone has cracked the ecu but I know some have possibly found a way to piggyback off the stock one.

I think you can, but they won't fit a regular exhaust without some modification.

Justin, you should replaced the restricted cats with Hi-flow cats to gain you at least 20 HP. There were right there... And it would have given you a stronger sound.
AWE should also offer one without mufflers, just straight pipes.
They do. It's the track package. It also sounds way too loud (in my opinion) and that is the same reason I didn't change the cats. I wanted a stock + sound not horribly aftermarket, if that makes sense.

Thanks, Ben. I have had great luck with AWE. Their exhaust sounds fantastic on the C7 ZR1 and it looks and sounds amazing on the C8 as well. Definitely wouldn't even consider a different brand at this point.
Hennessy has tested hi-flow cats, but with stock heads with no porting, pistons, stock cam, stock headers and stock tune it was no gain of horsepower (but did increase the sound level by a couple db) But I don't know if that is worth $350-$800 on a good set of hi-flow cats for no additional power. The stock cats Chevrolet are using must flow pretty good. Now if he built his engine then hi-flow cats would be worth the money.

HorsePower Obsessed Check it again in a few weeks just to be sure. My C7 M7 had an ever so small leak from the transmission, would have never been an issue as the warranty would have expired before it became critical. Took it in and they fixed it without a problem.
I will be looking it over shortly when I do an oil change. Can never be too safe with this stuff.
I've been researching exhaust system upgrades...and one thing I see that is frequently mentioned is that "some...not all" exhaust upgrades come with a downside...and that is, they sometimes generate CEL (check engine light) alarms. I just visited the AWE web site and they say their system does not generate CEL's but it will generate...what they call a soft OBD2 P code. With all that said...have you experienced any CEL's that can be traced directly back to your exhaust upgrade?
Zero. This is an extremely well built system and they pride themselves on things like this. No check engine lights, no drivability issues, all good!
Love to have this exhaust installed on my C7. Won't have to switch to Sport to get that throaty sound. Is there a dealer in Canada?
The AWE stuff is sold on multiple sites so you may want to check out some vendors in your area.

I can't wait (at least 18 months out). 🥺 My question is...do you have the Z51 package and still decided to replace it with the AWE system? I'm not getting the Z51 package because I'm not tracking the car. But I was going take the factory upgrade muffler system. If that's the one you had then for sure I'll save the $1200 factory upgrade and just do the AWE.

Over 3 out of every 4 C8s have Z51 and very few are tracked. A lot of folks get it because they don't want loud, expensive run flat all season on their rear motor American luxury beauty. Also, some of the bells and whistles are worth it like the spoiler, splitter, Electronic Slip Dif, and enhanced gear ratios. I'm not tracking and I went Z51. Just took delivery this week, very exciting after that 18 month wait you mentioned.

Well, this upload install of AWE's axle-back exhaust now begs the question, who, if anyone, has come up with headers for the C8? In the meantime, enjoy the new wonderful "music." 😉Save the Wave🙋🏼♂️
There are a few sets of headers out there but from what I've seen they actually lose power. I don't think I'd go much louder than this to be honest. At some point you lose that "refined" sound and start heavily into muscle car terrority.
I'd be tempted to go with a "reputable" set of headers that at least wouldn't lose power, but would give the "I'm come'n for you!" noise presence and have a non-factory electronic cut-out setup installed. The drawback to the factory dual-mode exhaust system is the valves are either totally open or totally closed. You can't "tune" the loudness with it. With an after-market setup you can open the flaps in an infinite amount of decibel settings . Literally you can "tune" the noise to what you and/or your passenger find comfortable. Heck, even with just the factory "headers," which don't look half bad, and no dual-mode option, I'd go with electronic cut-outs.
