According to their website: "Note: because of the structured design you loose the ability to open the frunk using the button under the headlight." Is that actually true with your car now that it's installed?
You know it have a good time on your trip and when we get there I will be there right there with you are you know I am on every channel I’m looking at Corvettes and you know I’m never leaving a channel that has ever again
Ty for replying as I did watch your trip to Miami but while watching my wife either had me doing the dishes, laundry, or cleaning the toilets and being 74 sometimes I am forgetful. Again thanks and will put the replies in my mail folder. I live in Florida so enjoyed your trip and yes I’m getting a new vette my wife said go for it so by god I follow orders so I am getting one at the ncm through Bomnin in dadeland. Us old farts still enjoy our rides.
Good day Justin; thank you for the informative vlog, it truly is an install that C8 owners have to consider; take care, and the best to you, and to those that will accompany you on the trip to South Florida.
They look cool to. I've got the stainless screens on my C5 and really like them. I kinda think those would look even better without the elongated hexagons behind them. Sometimes stuff can be too styled or over styled. The simple mesh would look more serious.
I don't love the price but they are def the best ones out there so far. Do they make covers for the centers? Seems like the entire front should be protected.
They both have their pros and cons. I'll be making a video installing the other kind shortly and let you guys make the decision which ones you like better.
You failed to say the grill (radiator)protector covers the frunk button that open the frunk. I purchased and installed which was pretty easy, but as I said you can’t push the frunk button now.
What did I miss? A "Florida road trip?" Details please. Love these add-on grates/screens, especially since they're made out of aluminum! I bet the one disclaimer for "Not for Track Use" is because they don't want to be sued if their grills fly off during a race of HDE. Dedicated track cars having everything bolted on and not just by tape, albeit you're using VHB tape. Based on the aforementioned, I like your idea about using a zip tie for added security. Still not a bolt-on, but definitely fine as a backup to the tape. It wouldn't be surprising if GM upgrades to this type of mod in the future on all their C8's. So Blackout Tinting only buys the alcohol in gallons. Geeze, they must not have that much work. I would have thought they'd be buying in 55 gal. drums!🤭 Save the Wave👋🏿
Thanks Justin! For those of us not yet lucky enough to have a C8, does anyone have a similar solution for the C7? I have a Grand Sport, and just hate looking at those bugs and defects in the radiators.
I saw another model of screen that has screws with brackets and the tape. It takes quite a bit more labor because you need to have access to the space from the bottom. That involves raising the car and screw removal obviously. Are the brackets with screws necessary or does the 3M tape you showed here more than suffice. Hate to have it come off mid drive.
I went with the inserts inserted from behind the original grills. I was concerned with cleaning the original grills if you install the inserts in front of the original grills. I’m very pleased with the results after 2,000 miles.
What about the gap showing the radiator above the lower add on and the top add-on, and the opening on the inside of where you put these protectors its pretty wide open to the radiator ? Not a complete protection from what I'm seeing for the cost of these.
Once again, horsepower obsessed has help me, the average C8 owner to protect the investment as well as make the car look better. That this is coated aluminum makes a big difference. I like the idea of putting a "zip-tie tether" ("trade-mark-Alex Ford for the term") as I call it. (Copyright as well) (11/07/2020). They do look factory. I sent for a set and now just wait for the installation. AF
Be sure to read the "Note" from manufacturer...if installed, you will not be able to use front "Fronk" button. Not a big deal however, please understand
Not a fan of accessories that have to be taken off for track days. It's enough to have to switch wheels each time. Granted it's not a "big" deal but every little part adds more prep time. I have used plenty of vhb tape and it is really NOT designed to be easy on/off. There is a new velcro type fastener here ruclips.net/video/12FvN4Pf88k/видео.html that IMO would be superior for that application. BTW my dash cam is rock solid now. Hope you don't mind the reference to that product. Great video! Froggy
@@HorsePowerObsessed Justin, as I mentioned in another comment to you, the product that I used works great on my C7 Grand Sport. Give me a call when you have a minute. 3525638972 Thanks
Wow, stunning. How much did you pay to get it wrapped to satin red. I ordered my 2021 Sebring Orange and would like to get in Satin Orange after seeing your Satin red. Any issues with grills on radiators?
No issues with the grills on the radiator They are working very well. I took my car to blackout tinting which is a local detail shop and they wrapped it with the XPEL in a way that made it look like paint. If you're in the area or even close to PA that's the shop I would recommend. You can check out the process here: ruclips.net/video/Fgf2KRid7n0/видео.html
Nothing. There's no option like this available. I talked to the people that make these grills to see if that's something they would consider making and it's a maybe.
Justin, I think this is a fair question. Do you pay for any of these parts you get from RPI, American Hydrocarbon, Blaque Diamond, etc.? If the answer is "no" why not disclose that?
I do pay for some and others I don't. Whether I pay or not, I give honest feedback. If the product is no good, I send it back and don't bother doing an install on it.
There's not really any reason to clean behind it now but if you absolutely had to, they are just held on with double sided tape. Just remove and reapply.
It looks fine from a distance. However, I see this as more of a W-R-O-N-G that Chevrolet will have a recall or offer a better design change. I feel it.

The reason the car was designed with the size openings in front of the radiators is because the engineers determined that was what they needed to get the amount of airflow required to keep the engine temps in check while on the track. There is a video out there of one of the corvette engineers talking about this issue.
I don't think it was a cost thing. I think GM wanted to make sure as much air as possible made it into the radiators. They did the same thing with the C7 ZR1.

This video was awesome. Just my new C8 and was looking into how to resolve this issue. Keep up the great work!
Glad it helped! Definitely something you want to do early on to prevent damage!
I wish I would have seen these prior to installing the other ones where I had to drop the bumper. This would have saved me a lot of time.
💯
I don't love the price but they are def the best ones out there so far. Do they make covers for the centers? Seems like the entire front should be protected.
100% agree. Expensive, but worth it. They don't make anything else for the grill area yet.
They actually look really good where they match the engine bay screens. I wonder how hard they are to remove if they do cause overheating in like AZ.
They aren't hard to remove if you had to. Just double sided tape.
Perfect accessory! I think it looks awesome as well.
I think so too! Thanks, Pat!
Zip tie. That look very professional and factory. How do you get in to get the debris out that collect at the bottom and rot the radiator. ?
With these grills nothing will get in to sit near the radiators.
Great video! clear and straight forward. Just took delivery of my C8 will be putting in - do they do the side vents?
Thanks. No they don't but the other ones I have do. Stay tuned for that video.
I used 3m double sided tape like that to HOLD MY REAR WING on my c7. Once its on and clean, its ON.
Do you prefer this protection over the ones you install from behind from the Radiator Grill Store ?
They both have their pros and cons. I'll be making a video installing the other kind shortly and let you guys make the decision which ones you like better.
Do they sell them for the side intake grills behind the doors.
You failed to say the grill (radiator)protector covers the frunk button that open the frunk. I purchased and installed which was pretty easy, but as I said you can’t push the frunk button now.
Expensive compared to other options, but installation is simple. Other options require removing parts underneath the intakes to install grills.
That's the other install I have. I'm going to try both and give pros and cons for both as well.

I've been looking because my C7 ZR1 needs these, too but unfortunately, no one has them yet that I've seen.
Can you still open the frunk using the button under the headlight?
You can now. These have been updated to allow that functionality.
Did you end of zip tying them also? If not did they stay on securely?
I never had to do anything more with them. They held on fine.
This wouldn't block too much airflow would it? May be nitpicking but curious if anyone did any testing on it to prove either way.
Not likely and nothing that I noticed but if you were tracking the car you could easily remove them if you were worried about that being an issue.
I agree that GM should install something at Bowling Green during assembly.
Great job. They look great. I bought the other company that uses zip ties.

That divder in the grill area, I've seen an LED on that divder that works when the lights and turn signal functions. Do you know anything about them?
any idea of they have ones for the side vents as well? Those also seem like they would collect debris, even leafs and things.
I have an update coming soon that might address that issue.
Be sure to read the "Note" from manufacturer...if installed, you will not be able to use front "Fronk" button. Not a big deal however, please understand
Chevy said, "it may reduce air flow ". Does that make any sense, or just, we (chevy) should have thought of that first?
It’s definitely that they should’ve thought of it first because they have since started offering something just like this on their accessories page

Can you still use the front trunk button??
No, unfortunately.
i might have tried putting some screen on the back of those before applying .
I can always try that in the future. These are removable if needed.
Screen may limit too much of the air flow, be careful.
Is it true you can’t use the frunk button now
Yes and no. You still can but you have to get lower to access it.

They do not but another company makes something. I'll have a video of it coming soon.
349.00 way over priced .
Quick 80% fix,, probably better than a 1/8" plastic stucco lath

Just for proper terms those are actually not radiators, they are the A/C condensers.
GM states they are radiators in the front so I'll quote the guys who built the car 👍👍
Porsche Boxsters which have 3 radiators....same issue
Yup! I know Josh (Blackout Tinting) who owns a GT4 has his front radiators covered with a material that looks just like these (honeycomb) and it was factory. I guess Porsche learned their lesson. Now we just need Corvette to do the same!
