  • A full in depth look at this wacky boardwalk amusement park located in the middle of nowhere in Indiana. While the park is very quirky, it's actually a pretty fun place! You may be surprised by what this park has to offer.

The reason the water tasted like blood was probably because it comes from a well, or the water just has a lot of iron in it

WAYYY Underrated park. Went on Labor Day weekend this year. Walked right onto Hoosier Hurricane and Cornball Express. Rode each 5+ times (both great btw). 5 minute wait was the longest for any of the 5 adult coasters. My daughter Berea (9) called it her favorite park ever, and for especially the 7-13 range I'd agree completely. Been to Cedar Point, King's Island, 3 Six Flags etc, but the actual quality of rides combined with 0 to 10 minute max wait times puts this as my new favorite. HIGHLY RECOMMEND especially for parents with youngsters. HH and CE are very cool. I believe Cornball was even rated as #1 years ago, although I actually liked Hurricane more. Will be back next year for sure.

Went there with one of my great friends in late August. The place was empty. It was drizzling off and on. We were the only one on most rides. Everything was running too. Had an awesome time and had great experiences on every ride. Food was great too. However, there is a beach there... Sorta. It's trapped behind the piers over by the Waterpark. It was way too cold when we went. But it's there.

Gene Bone Heck yeah! Hoosier Hurricane was amazing too. Can't believe I moved to Indy when I was 10 and it took me 28 years to go here. Man if you like Wacky places like this then I would highly recommend visiting Bakken in Denmark next time you'll be in Europe. The best way to describe that place to be honest is like Indiana Beach, Knoebels, Lagoon and Gröna Lund all had a baby which subsequently was the oldest ever amusement park (Yeah no kidding that place opened in 1583!) In terms of weird rides they have a very wacky wooden coaster as well as a really unique Launched spinning coaster called Tornado by Intamin, as well as a top notch Fun house themed to a sinking ship and so much more. If you're going to Northern Europe/Scandinavia again in some years I would definitely recommend visiting this and Tivoli Gardens just down the road, they're litterally the half way point between Hansa Park and Liseberg

Coaster Studios Tivoli Friheden in Denmark is also very wacky, and they've got the craziest attraction called Sky Tower. If you go there, you should also visit Djurs Sommerland. It's only 20 minutes away, and they've got an Intamin mega-lite. I would highly recommend that. Then I would finally have the opportunity to meet you!

WITHOUT A DOUBT, the best pleasant (AWESOME) surprise park I've ever frequented. Really does have "something for everyone." Didn't ride Tig'rr cuz my daughter was a tad too short, but all other coasters were VERY cool. Hoosier Hurricane is an absolute gem. No way it and Cornball Express shouldn't be more well known. If you crave attendance it'll disappoint. If you're a coaster junkie you'll love it. If you're a parent with little ones over 48" you'll be in heaven. My daughter and niece are 9 and LOVEDDDDDD it. Was awesome for me and my brother too!

I went there last June. I had a lot more fun then I realized. The parks unique placement over the water was really cool, and the ride lineup was still very decent despite not being anything big. The only downsides were that all the rides didn't open up until an hour after the park opened its gates, all the coasters except Cyclone were running only one car or train, and the All American Triple Loop wasn't even open yet despite them saying that this would be opening year.

There's a taco stand next to the lost coaster that had the absolute best tacos ever!! I grew up coming to this park. I've only gone a few times as an adult... and it was just as fun. Go to the top Diner, have a few shots of booze, rides some rides, feed the fish, get tacos, more shots, more rides, then cap of the night with some flat rides and shopping. I hope they find someone to buy IB. It is such a landmark here in Indiana. Even though I live closer to Chicago, and the SF in Gurnee.... IB has my heart when it comes to Amusement parks.

I visited this park this past June on the way from my cousin’s place in Illinois to Cedar Point (Six Flags Great America was closed due to flooding from a massive storm over the midwest). Half the rides here were closed due to the storm, but I did have a lot of fun on Cornball Express (was the only one on the train for one ride)! Steel Hawg, Double Shot, and Dr Frankenstein’s Haunted Castle are also some recommendations for those who plan to visit. Hoosier Hurricane was allright, nothing memorable. Just make sure you go on a sunny day if you plan on getting all the credits.

When I was a kid we had a coaster there called Tigers Den. It tilted so that you were almost completely on your side and the “restraint” consisted of basically a canvas strap the you pulled through one of those metal half loop things. As an adult I realize how totally unsafe this was. Kind of blows my mind I was allowed to ride it lol

I've been to Indiana beach many times. When my kids were younger, my parents took them and myself to Indiana beach a few years in a row. I actually like the park myself. You are right when you said they used the space wisely. There really is allot of rides in a small area which is nice if you have smaller kids because they don't get tired out as easily as they would if they were walking thru a much larger park. It's worth checking out at least once.

The coaster Tig'rr is the only jet star 1 left in the world and Steel Hawg is the first SNS El Loco model. I'm pretty sure that Lost Coaster Of Superstition Mountain (LCOSM) is the only wooden coaster to have a elevator lift. The food is good I really like the soft pretzels so I give this park a 8.5/10.

BryceFourn 2001 Trust me and GO THERE! Both my brother and I were shocked at how empty it was, and stoked that us and our daughters were literally walking onto Cedar Fair/Six Flags quality wooden coasters. Rode both Hoosier Hurricane and Cornball Express 5 times in a row each. Steel Hawg was great and Lost Coaster was surprisingly cool and just funny. We went Labor Day weekend (Sat.) and kids rode everything multiple times by 6 pm. Seen longer lines at town carnivals. Ignore negative reviews. I'm 38 and had a blast. Taking my 15 year old son with us next year. Prefer it to the bigger parks for those tiny or nonexistent lines and high quality coasters.
Oh, and we already bought season passes for next year (Very cheap!) Tell your family to pencil in Labor Day weekend. Was so empty my brother thought it was closed. Were kicking ourselves for waiting so many years to go.

Indiana beach will always hold a place in my heart, my home park is Six Flags Great America, so me and grandma go camping at their camp ground every summer with my cousin and sisters, we aren’t permanent campers there but I can always count on yearly visits to Indiana beach. I think that some of these facts are true, but it’s still a pretty fun place, and if your there at night, it’s very pretty. My only complaints are that the super loop thing is always closed when I go, idk how it is during the year but when I was there it was always closed, the other one I have is the first year I went, the tram to get from the campground to the park was supposed to come around 6, but it never did, the employees keep saying it was coming soon but it never did, we ended up walking back to the camp ground, yes it was right across the street, but it would have been faster to take the tram. Then we got to the campground and we were gonna go swimming but they told us it would be opened till 8, but it was closed (probably because of the weather because it was gonna storm) anyways when we were actually at the campground walking to our camper we saw the trolly leave, and we were like, “where were you when we needed you”

I grew up in Southwest Michigan and I'm a huge Indiana Beach fan. But I kinda hate LoCoSuMo. I know it's unique, but I've never had an especially good time riding it.
Cornball Express is one of those rides that really heats up throughout the day and is an airtime monster from dusk to the park closing. While it only runs one train I've often been able to get rides every 2-3 cycles, which often made for more than two dozen in an afternoon/evening.
Steel Hawg is fun and bizarre.
They run all their flat rides and even the S&S double shot in properly aggressive modes. I don't usually bother with scramblers and yo-yos, but these ones are worth a spin. The scrambler when the lights are on at night is crazy.
    Such a great little place.

Could not agree more. How's Michigan's Adventure btw? One of the few within 300 miles from Indy I've never seen in person.

@@clevelandcbi Michigan's Adventure is just okay. Definitely more professional than IB or Mt. Olympus but also not as charming.
They don't have a lot of mature trees and the place didn't really start growing until the 90s. Shivering Timbers is an airtime monster and if they've kept up on retracking, was quite reride worthy. Everything else is just... fine.
If you're in GR or headed up to Traverse City or something, it's worth an afternoon. But I wouldn't plan a trip just for it.

There actually is a beach, it's part of the water park and goes into the lake. Also, the reason Lost Coaster is so awkward and partially themed, is it used to be a dark ride themed like you were going through an old gold mine. They converted that into the coaster that is there now and left the cave and theming from before. Source: grew up about 45 min away and went every year as a kid.

Indiana Beach has always been my favorite place to go every Summer and it's the closest Amusement Park to me in my region of Indiana and the Taco Shoppe is actually in downtown Monticello now!

  • @albertsancho5909
    @albertsancho5909 5 лет назад

This theme park is the closest to me (currently living in NW IN). SF Great America is getting to be too expensive like almost $100 per person. But Indiana Beach is like up to $40 per person. Other than that the park is a bit smaller and near Lake Monticello for a free boat ride.

Thanks for the review. I am visiting for my first time this Saturday, August 3rd. Coming from Los Angeles I have been to Disneyland, California Adventure, Knotts Berry Farm, Six Flags Magic Mountain and of course Universal Studios. I like theme parks, and you mentioned they dont care for theming. But I know I will have fun. I look forward to it. The water surrounding the park is going to add to the magic.

The way you talk about the rides being sketchy in the most fun way cracks me up. I don't think I'd ever equivalate a swing ride to a dive coaster. XD

I go to Indiana alot since I live in IL like 2 1/2 miles away from it, but never been to Indiana Beach before. Indiana is a mostly boring state to be honest, but it's good they have this place for the locals to enjoy. I also like Circle Centre mall in downtown Indianapolis. I go to Indiana alot due to gas and groceries being cheaper there, and from what I researched this amusement park is definitely cheaper than 6 flags.

I went here this past summer. Super weird... but really fun. It’s definitely a carnival feeling. Lines are super short cause they have so many rides. Steel Hawg is the star attraction here, super weird and uncomfortable restraints but honestly a very good ride imo

Indiana Beach might yet be saved! The search for a buyer appears to have been reopened, and an online petition is gaining steam. If you love the park, now is the time to be vocal about it. Jump on google, search “Help save Indiana Beach” and take the 10 seconds it takes to sign the petition at Change.org! And spread the word before it’s too late!

I grew up every summer rt next to the board walk entrance my grandparents on the resort rt there it was a vintage park which really got lost on the younger crowd and with the family selling it. It was never supposed to be a theme park but more of a year round cost effective family fair filled with memories sad it was lost due to trying to make it something it never should of been

This is my home park second to holiday world. I’ve learned to love it but it feels so depressing. I wish they had more and honestly they could really use an SLC or a boomerang one of those smaller cheap models because it feels kinda baron. But the saving grace is how charming it is, it feels like home.
There’s not just corn in Indiana.

This is pretty much my home park but I’ve only been here once because it’s just way more worth it to drive to cedar point. The rides at Indiana beach are mediocre and the water is actually awful. I’m pretty sure they just use the river water or whatever body of water is beside there

I went here a couple summers ago. I liked the different atmosphere of the place. The rides are a lot of fun. I really enjoyed Lost Coaster I've never been on anything else like it. Also don't eat at the Skyroom. Service is terrible. My server gave us an attitude when a friend asked for silverware to spread a sauce on their burger. They said it was against restaurant policy to "cut your burger."

I live about 30 minutes away from this park and it’s sketchy, the last time I went on the Steel Hog they said and I quote. “The back seat is the one that doesn’t latch right?” The the lady shrugged and sent us off to a 95 degree drop were I had the potential to be thrown out. Id rather just drive the 3 hours to Cedar Point which is what I do twice a year. Plus, I get bored about 2 hours after being there. Its like the park is frozen in time to the 70s or 80s. No safety checks and none of the employees care. 😂😂
