Lost Coaster of Superstition Mountain Review Indiana Beach WEIRD Wooden Roller Coaster
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 23 июл 2020
- Lost Coaster (sometimes referred to as LOCOSUMO) is one of the strangest roller coasters ever built, and is located at Indiana Beach in Monticello. The ride is a conversion of a former dark ride, and weaves in and out of the rock work structure. As if that wasn't strange enough, now toss in the weird ride vehicles (also called 'cages'), and you have one of the craziest coasters ever built!

This ride is like taco night at Alan Schilke’s house
No, it’s like a luau at Richard Simmon’s house.
This is one of the only comments on RUclips that made me laugh
I am proud I got this, and laughed too loud.
Did someone say Gex?
shut up gex
So, it's a wooden wild mouse, with ejector air time, and amazing theming in American? Yup sounds like a pretty good fit for Indiana Beach.
Honestly? I’d love to go to Indiana just for this. The theming looks awesome, the twists and turns look insane. Take me to Indiana now!
We need more roller coasters like this that aren't afraid to whip you around like a ragdoll and leave you with a black eye afterwards.
Best ride: second car, sit backwards, single rider - you will be RAGDOLLED.
StamfordBridge nice
Honestly I feel that this could be a really unique coaster model if a company was willing to risk it, I mean with all of the elements that we can do (drop track, tilt track, turntables, etc.) you could have an incredible dark ride/wood coaster hybrid model. I mean all of the track trickery sections would be made with steel structure, plus remember that GCI showed that one off (ruclips.net/video/vtnyUlelnvA/видео.html) which featured something similar. Not only that but you could also fit a proper dark ride section in there as well, possibly even some light launches (maybe 20mph at most). I see a TON of potential with this idea being expanded upon, sadly we'll never see that happen as steel coasters are the go-to for dark ride coasters and I understand why, but that doesn't mean.
The thing is that this would need special trains like Lost Coaster's, though with more secure restraints for things like a vertical drop track section.
CCI was held back by the limitations of the structure and the technology at the time, now imagine what you could do today with a similar idea with a ground-up building for the ride?
“ but where else can you find a roller coaster themed to a restaurant?” Full throttle, boom got yah there Taylor!
Declan c sponsored by Chick-Fil-A
Declan c GLURGH
Lol, good one. But what was built first..? BOOM
not a coaster but we can't forget the gyro swing at fuji-q highland themed to the pizza place next to it
Thats actually pretty funny. Gotta love Six Flags ads.
Wish i coulda got a 2nd ride just to process the damn thing
That's insane enough to be a bucket list coaster.
I’m So Happy Indiana Beach has opened. I have never gone but it is important to keep these parks open
Agree hopefully my local Elitch Gardens will be able to have the same fait of Kentucky Kingdom and Indiana Beach. It is important for the community to show value to the these smaller parks
Metrofilmer88 My Homepark Js A Major One (GADV) so I do not have the problem of my park being shutdown as much as people who have Indiana Beach or Elitch Gardens
Reminds me of the stage coach coaster trains in Roller Coaster Tycoon 2
Taylor: the elevator lift on a wooden coaster...I dig it.
Bet that pun wasn’t intented
Rode it for the first time last year alone facing backwards and had a old married couple in front of me. They said they have rode it more then 1000 times. And they enjoy watching people react to it. Well I was thrown like a rag doll. And loved every minute of it.
And just so you know, I will give you my personal guarantee that anything that was broken on this ride in 2019 will be fixed by next year. Already got part of the waterfall working and the part that sprays you. Hopefully soon the rest of the waterfall will work. EDIT: Except 3 trains that will never happen again
Is two trains an option? :D Thanks a lot for fixing this ride so I can hope to ride it finally whenever I get back to the states. It was down when I went in 2014.
zampano yes. The gold train will be up and running by the end of this season or beginning of next
@@eiamstaples2659 That is so awesome! All the best to you!
zampano As For you!
This ride is a gem and the fact that you guys see it’s value and are bringing back lost elements just makes me beyond thrilled!! I was at the park Sunday and Lost Coaster wasn’t operating. I was so sad not to be able to ride it, but I’m happy to wait if it means the next time there will be improvements. Two trains is just beyond needed for this ride. I will be ecstatic to see it running more efficiently. If you could get a shade structure over that queue as well, the ride will reach perfection. All the best to you guys! Thanks for everything you’re doing!
I just got off another CCI when watching this
Patrick Cadiz Boss
JUSTICE LEAGUE: Battle For Metropolis Expert i am so jealous that yall are at parks
Coasterhocky Gaming Boy what’s your home park?
Patrick Cadiz my home park too! i might be going to kings island for the first time in late/mid august
Great to see more coaster reviews. Love more of them. Keep Up The Great Work Taylor and Stay Safe
Im happy to hear the new management plan on operating this coaster more efficiently 👍
“What R U talking about, lost coaster is completely normal, Ur crazy”
-Japan
For real brah.
I used to go to this park all the time as a kid and this coaster was always one of my favourites. My friends and I had way too much thrown around in that thing. I’m glad Indiana beach got saved. I’ll have to make it back some day
This looks like so much fun!
Anyone who says there’s just no theming outside of Universal and Disney on roller coasters, has never been to Knotts berry farm, or Dollywood, or some of the cedar fair parks, or the silver dollar city parks!
He said this was about theming on-ride, not outside of it, of course with a few exceptions.
Just 3 quick video ideas if possible
Jurrasic coaster in Universal analysis
Intamin mega coaster in Wallibi Belgium analysis
And finally the new intamin coaster concepts analysis
Intamin do be copying everyone now
Seeing all these indiana beach videos put this place on my bucket list and far higher than I'd ever expect. But this place just has so much to offer in it's own, and this is definitely one of them outside of a boat ride or cool water-side experiences, older retro classic rides, cci's, an S&S El Loco, etc. Also yeah, I wish I have ridden this already, but to like a gravity group family coaster IF it had seats made by who knows who with an elevator lift, pretty much sums it up well I'd say if that's even possible to sum this ride up well.
Was down most of the day when I was there. Got lucky as we were leaving and it opened as we walked by. Ended up being a great surprise.
Dude I love these reviews! I haven’t even seen this coaster before but the reviews still entertain me with the background footage and high quality... everything
Nice Video and a nice Ride!
Best Regards from a German Park RUclipsr 🤗
10-15 miles per hour, OMG SOOOOOO FAST!!!!😮😮😮
IKR
Good review. Any coaster that makes you smile and laugh is worthy of at least a seven.
I have not been to IB in about 20 years, but i loved the old Mine Ride that this coaster replaced. Looks like the animals and train that were a part of it still reside inside the structure which is cool, i remember throwing M&Ms at the bear with my cousin when we were 10 and blowing through those straws all theme parks have that whistle when you blow through them. I wish i could find a POV of the other dark ride they used to have before it became a pirate themed ride. And those tacos are amazing!
I was just there on 7/29, and it did not open all day. A girl working next to it said it had not opened for a few days and said it is often closed. She suggested staffing shortages might be the cause. Since Lost Coaster and Cornball are the two attractions that most people talk about, it would seem like staffing these two rides would be the biggest priority.
This ride looks like it belongs in Knott’s Berry Farm, Buena Park, CA.! If you haven’t been there, check out their videos and you’ll see why! I would go on this ride just for the experience and it does look unique and fun, despite the cage! Lol I think you’re the only one who has a video of this ride! Thanks for sharing! 😁💖
great review and good footage of the ride . i've rode loco sumo many many times thru many years now and it is one of the funnest coasters ever . and it never gets old and the fact you can ride forwards or backwards makes it a different experience for a second time around . actually every coaster at indiana beach is unique in it's own right . but lost coaster is king in originality . i laugh and have fun more on lost coaster than any other coaster except steel vengeance . yea that's right i rank it that high . ...and cci may have built it but tom spackman jr was the brains behind lost coaster .
1:55 Taylor looks a little different than I remember
I got to ride LoCoSuMo back in 2007 during a group trip. What I remember about the ride was the number of warning signs in the queue (e.g. "LoCoSuMo is a bone shaking experience") and the fact that there was a can of WD-40 in the station and duct tape all over the vehicles - they must have had some real engineers working on keeping it running. Our group was supposed to have ERT on it in the evening, but that didn't happen due to a breakdown (I did get to ride earlier in the day, so at least I got the credit). We did have ERT on Cornball Express which was a lot of fun with some insane airtime moments.
I think you may also be forgetting the elevator stopping for an animatronic and storytelling halfway up (which was active for me last summer) and the train horn at the end, which really puts you in your place if you're traveling backwards
For me this is the 2nd best coaster at Indiana Beach just ahead of Steel Hawg but well behind Cornball Express. I agree the second car going backwards is the way to go. It is great what CCI did with the space and created a really enjoyable ride!
Lost Coaster is my autistic son's favorite ride at Indiana Beach. BTW, the only reason we learned about IB is because of the Coaster Studio coverage from February through opening day. We've seen "Maintenance Mike" on every visit so far this year.
Bang-on review!
Yup, it was down when I visited in 2014. I hope the new Management considers getting a second train at least :D
Ive never got to go to Indiana beach... But from what I've got to see of this ride... It kinda seems like a WEIRD wooden wild mouse, mixed with an old school spook house lol.... I love your videos Taylor, I think its a three way tie for my favorite coaster channel between you and Okay coasters and El Toro Ryan lol... I just like the way all three of you guys do your videos. Very informative... but also fun and cinematic
It does have a little bit of a Wild Mouse feel to it, but it's considerably different. It's hard to explain the difference, though. Kind of has to be experienced. I've ridden it twice, two different years. The first time it was a relatively mild, interesting ride. The second time it jarred my back so badly I wasn't sure I was going to be able to get off of it under my own power. That said, I'll probably ride it again. The Beast beats the hell out of me, but I haven't given up on that one either.
@@Fetishrock The beast can be pretty rough lol... But with that ride I think a lot of it depends on where you ride...Because I've ridden it twice in the same day even and had very different experiences... One ride will beat you to death, and the other just be a fun kind of jossely rough... If you're sitting in a wheel seat, hang it up lol... you're coming off there beat up lol. But still, I love it... to me the bumpy roughness is what sets these old woodies apart from the new glossy smooth rides...
I NEED to ride this, now.
I was there on Saturday (7/25/2020)...my first time ever going to IB...& this coaster was closed all day...so disappointed as this coaster was why I wanted to go to IB.
Hey, I’m going to Cedar Point this Sunday and through until Thursday, I saw your video about your experience at the park, and I just wanted to ask what time do you think is best to arrive at the rides with the access pass, is it shorter to get in line at soon as the time on your access pass hits, or is it shorter when like 30 minutes pass?
Just went today, thank you Taylor for your recommendation on seat as well. Rode it 3 times(it was a "slow day"). Rode Cornball Express 14 times, Hoosier Hurricane 9 times, Steel Hawg 4 and Tig'rr twice. Cornball best coaster in park. My favorite is this one. Kind of reminds of Disaster Transport. A themed experience coaster that was not as originally intended. It seems like a combination of a wooden wild mouse and Disaster Transport
Disaster Transport , if you are talking about the Cedar Point ride , was originally like a toboggan ride , it was cool and we rode it over and over. Then enclosed it and made it Disaster Transport. Loved hearing the wheels rolling on the track, while waiting in line . Never been to Indiana Beach but planning on it with the grandkids ! Im sure we will like Superstition Mountain and Cornball Express .
@eddielawson7230 Don't forget All American Looping the "new" Swarzkopf coaster that should be open opening day. Not very many of those left. I skipped on a season pass this year. People ask me "Why go there when Cedar Point is an hour away." Try the smash burgers at Blue Jay Grill
This ride looks weird but awesome.
If you haven't been yet, a couple of rides that are like this are bobsled at seabreeze and ice mountain bobsled. I love bobsled, but there's nothing like it!
Ugh! I rode the bobsled coaster at Great America back in the 80s & hated that feeling like you’re going to fly out, but I didn’t like it on waterslides that use inner tubes either. 🤢
It’s a mini Big Thunder! Almost looks like part carnival haunted house too.
Cool ride
Dude back in the day this coaster used to be much faster. And I mean much faster. Every time display switched ownership it got slower and slower
It’s like a mini Gravity Group layout haha
4:58 It's A Triple Up.
thanks for 03:50
how am I supposed to get this picture out of my head now
love your channel btw.
Greets from Germany
Haha thanks for the laugh,
Greets from Belgium
We valleyed in the rockwork where it stops you right before the drop and the maintenance guy just walked up and pushed the train over the drop while we were still in it
You should do a park battle between jndiana beach and knoebels and compare flying turns and lost coaster, twister and cornball express, steel hawg and impulse, and phoenix and hoosier hurricane
Great review Taylor, Indiana Beach is a bucket list park for me. Two questions. Can you do a Hoosier Hurricane review? also, Do you think Silver Comet would be a good fit for Indiana Beach if they can find some space for it since Fantasy Island closed down recently?
I get a kick out of weird rides and even weirder small parks.
I was totally looking forward to it last year, but it wasn't running all day.
great coaster
It would be epic as a spinning wooden coaster
Would probably valley every time, though.
2nd train coming soon? ;)
Do a video on new Intamin models from their RUclips channel
You should do an Orion parady
This is a really good review. Love it. Finding the joy in the quirks.
Come to Adventureland in Long Island NY it’s my home park but it’s nothing special at all. If you are in the area you can get three coaster credits.
You can find a elevator lift on the Matterhornblitz coaster in the Europa Park
Hi Taylor 👋
It was closed the whole day on 07-25 for maintenance issues.
Quarantine must have rocked my roller coaster "knowlegde", but when a roller coaster valley's, it means it completely stops right?
Yep
It's what happened to the empty train during The Smiler Accident
Lost coaster looks like the wooden cobras curse
Rode it. Didn’t fully wrap my ride around how it was making some of the turns.
Stat box says speed is 20 MPH, but at 4:32, you say 35 MPH. Which is it?
Can you give a breakdown and analysis of the Jurassic coaster coming to Universal ?
Yessssss
Nothing has been announced even
Can you do a Review of Wodan?
And wonder why we haven't seen one of these build since?? One train at a time lmao. Ohh look he's allowed to use coaster force footage haha
"Yeah this is weird and we're aware it's weird but you should ride it any way" ....sign me up
I say it's the Wooden Roller Coaster version of Mr. Toad's Wild Ride lol
Such a weird ride
We at the beach call it ‘the mountain’
4:32 you said that it’s top speed was 20 mph
It is 20 mph
Coasterhocky Gaming Boy he said the speed was 35 mph on the timestamp
@Teo Martín Ramos he said 35 mph
Yep
Ok seeing this got me thinking. Imagine Lost coaster, but with spinning Virginia wheel style cars! Now that would be insanity!
So you might like the fast spinning coaster Tornado at Bakken. Not so much theming inside and much newer, but somehow just as crazy, causing a big smile on the adventurous rider‘s face.
What you need to know when watching the videos:
The chain of the lifthill gains speed near the top and thereby „jostles“ you down the winding track of Tornado.
I hope it is not against the netiquette to post a link to a video of the coaster I mentioned in my answer. (If it is, you can just delete this separate answer.)
Here is a video of Tornado at Bakken:
ruclips.net/video/OA28LoGI8js/видео.html
@@gettwetter4752 Bakken is my local park, I have a season pass for the place! I ride Tornado almost every time I go there!
Weird question but is the airtime better facing forwards or backwards or is it the same?
The air is way better when you are facing backwards
I rode this around a year or two ago. Rough as heck. If you look past the rough and rickety aspects of the ride, though, it’s pretty good.
Please go to bay Beach in Green Bay and ride Zippin Pippin. Experience Elvis favorite ride and the ejector hill of death
Erik TruBOAR yesssss it is so fantastic
RMC lost coaster?
This coaster is the weirdest thing ever😂
Art Of Kyan Gilfillan Yeah, I’ve ridden this thing twice. It’s very very rough and rickety. Throws you around a ton. In my opinion it’s scarier than the other two wooden coasters in the park, just due to how rickety it feels. It’s not as weird as you think it would be when you’re off of it, though.
It is a very fun ride. But you will be waiting a long time.
Taylor, what's your favorite park in Florida?
Probably Busch Gardens Tampa, but I also love Universal Orlando
7.25 would be a better rating since it make the ranking quirky as well.
It’s Underground’s evil twin!
I wouldn't say it is a lot of fun. Probably because the park had this ride closed for the entirety of my trip.
Have you ridden Swamp Fox?
I have not!
ONE TRAIN OPS!! I bet it doesn't even have block zones
It does have block zones, in fact it is capable of running 3 trains (which we will probably never see again on this ride). However during a private party in September 2021 it did in fact have 2 trains running all day due to the heavy crowds. And Hoosier Hurricane also was running 2 trains.
It's Sumo as Sue-Mo
3:52 oh say can you see.🙄😊🤣🎢
taylor is cool
Me and my sister got stuck on this ride
This ride looks pretty whack! Awesome review! 👍
Hey Taylor! I was wondering what rides and how many times you were able to ride at cedar point on your trip. I know this sounds like a lot to ask, but I’m going later this week and would like to get an idea of what I’d be able to ride. Thanks!
Converted dark ride of Indiana peir
@4:32 you say the top speed was 35 miles an hour, I thought it was 20?
I agree, this coaster is so weird, the fact that it is a wooden coaster with an elevator lift, the sharp terns make it like a CCI wild Mouse, the trains are weird, everything, I think this is the most unique wooden coaster ever built.
