  • One of the most insane wooden roller coasters in America resides at Mt. Olympus Theme Park in Wisconsin Dells. Hades 360 plummets riders underneath the parking lot AND flips riders upside down through a corkscrew. Its a mean, aggressive ride that isn't for the faint of heart!

    It is amazing the work and effort Gravity Group puts in there coasters. I think they deserve lots of credit for this one. The layout could not be better, they just packed in so much in almost 5,000 ft of track. You never know what they could do next.

      And to think that this was their first roller coaster, for The Gravity Group to build an insane ride like this as a startup~ I mean this park took a chance on The Gravity Group, and I think it was a total success.

      Advice from someone who has been to Mt Olympus several times in family vacations, go for the wooden roller coasters and go cart tracks. Nothing else is really that great. Unfortunately now you have to book a stay to get a park pass, but if you plan it while you're already staying in WI Dells, it can be a good day.

    The original Hades was my first roller coaster EVER. Then they added the corkscrew a few years later and I loved it. I never realized how rare and unique the underground element was for a wooden roller coaster until now. It’s really sad because the park is declining in popularity and I’m sure they’ll be heading for closure eventually. Seeing the main drop as I drive closer and closer to the park is and will always remain iconic to me. Thanks for the awesome review!

      I would be very careful cause it is very rickety due to it being a wooden rollercoaster, but it was pretty fun if you like rollercoasters. I don't, so I didn't really enjoy it. Another warning but the seats are plastic as well and the ride moves a lot so you could hurt after this ride. It's a LOT faster than the video makes it seem.

    Greek, not Roman. Roman columns are a lot more flamboyant and use a different material.

    • @Northicex
      @Northicex 4 года назад +8

      If it was Roman then the rides Hades and Zeus would be named Pluto and Jupiter. The architectural style is generally termed Greco-Roman as (like most other things) the Romans shamelessly copied anything they liked. Not to sell the Romans short in this regard, they would typically do what they copied better than the original producer if nothing else more prolifically.

    Got to ride this twice back when it reopened with the loop in the parking lot. Let's just say it is crazy with the roughest, most painful transitions. At the time we rode this coaster there was a horrible bump at the bottom of the large hill at the beginning. Extremely violent which hurt every inch of your body. I cannot imagine why there has not been injuries or accidents on this coaster.

  • @CivilianSatellite
    @CivilianSatellite 4 года назад +5

    The high brake runs and stations are probably so the train doesn't hit the brakes too fast. The park likely wanted to pay for a coaster that goes that high and that fast, but didn't want to pay for enough track length to burn off all that speed. So you put the brakes up higher so the train doesn't hit them at a million miles an hour.

    Good video! Glad you liked this coaster, it's such a unique ride. I live about 45 minutes from the Dells and have ridden this coaster many times over the years, including the pre-360 version, and yeah, it definitely got better after they put in the inversion and reprofiled it a bit, although I still really liked it beforehand. I haven't gotten up there yet this year, I'm hoping to get up there in the next couple of weeks.

  • @findRED

    I had the pleasure of riding this before and after the 360 inversion. Prior to the inversion it was a "general intense" roller coaster, something to be thrilled by, but not necessarily anything too significant about it. After the inversion it was wild. The last time I took a ride with the inversion was prior to the track work and re-cresting. It was roughest in the tunnel, with those transitions being not quite as smooth (but that may also be the pitch black and lack of awareness to where exactly we were going.) It generally felt overall rougher, like "precisely cut wood without the final sanding," type of rougher, but most of the wooden roller coasters there feel that way. Unfortunately I did not ride it this past summer when I was in Mount Olympus, as my wife and I were already wore out that day.
    As far as the other roller coasters felt this summer, they all seem to have gotten a bit better (less rough than I remembered). The standout being Zeus. This summer I rode it once, and it was smooth and had all the great hallmarks a general wooden roller coaster should. That's my favorite in the park, not too intense, but with plenty of exciting corners and air time. I could ride Zeus all day.

I had the privilege of sitting front row and the view/experience was just awesome. The ride going under the parking lot felt really nice and cold. The only downside was I wished Mt. Olympus had 2 or 3 cars just like Valleyfair or any other amusement park just so the line could move a bit quicker. Also, since we're in the world of COVID at the moment, social distancing in line wasn't in sight due to how many people want to go on the coaster. And as much as I love renegade at VF, I'd say this coaster is my favorite wooden coaster so far!! I hope I'll come back here in the future!!

    Excellent. The only problem I have with this Review is that I kinda liked Hades 360 being my secret little gem I could show people. haha I've been eyeballing this thing from afar for years!
    This thing looks absolutely fantastic and I can't wait to get on it! It's top 5 bucket list for me. Great vid man! Thanks for such a detailed review

    I just got back from there - waited to watch the coaster come out of the tunnel on the other side of the parking lot - took some time because they aren't running these fast - one train running takes time to wait and watch...looks insane out of the tunnel

    Correction: they’re actually Greek columns since hades is Greek and so is the mount Olympus theme but it doesn’t really matter

    I agree that the ride is awesome. I rode it twice there. One of my all-time favorites. I even read that this coaster holds the record of the worlds longest underground tunnel.

    We rode on this last weekend and it was a blast! It felt so fast and very intense! I'd really like to be able to rode Goliath at 6 Flags Great America shortly after this one to compare. I'm sure it is better, but Hades360 was definitely a blast!! Although, I did have a small headache after riding it.

    1:27 best part when your standing in line, and you can get a really great photo of the train going by too, especially like the one they posted on Nov 22, 2019 on Instagram 😛😛🤪

    I am tall and kept bringing my hands in right before the inversion. This coaster is intense. Tunnels are a cool element. Was there last Friday.

    When I rode it, I'd only seen lights-on POVs, so I wasn't prepared for just how dark that tunnel really is. And then it occurred to me that it's right there in the name, so I really shouldn't have been surprised.

    I agree roughness can sometimes add to intensity, I have not ridden Hades 360 but I have ridden other wooden coasters with that same aspect. I honestly think if RMCS where not glossy smooth and had a little jank to them, they would be even more intense.

    I rode it on Monday three times. One thing you didn't mention in your review - the temperature in the tunnel. It has to be twenty degrees cooler or more down there. Really felt good on a hot day.

    When I rode this, no joke, a maintenance worker went on the track in the station when I was sitting on the brake run. I don't know what he was fixing on the track but I was sitting their in the hot sun for 30min.

    Road this a bunch of times before they added the loop and after they added the loop. Both ways this was one of the wildest rollercoaster experiences we ever had, but, wow was it rough! Hopefully it is smoother today, but, sometimes riding was so painful I couldn't believe it was allowed to operate. After a number of years both my kids and I stopped riding it to avoid the guaranteed post ride back/neck pain and headache.
