    So, Sfsl is my home park. Honestly I could spend a few hours writing a list of things that need to be done to this park
    Here's a few:
    1. Rmc the boss or get a brand new stand out coaster (ex. Intamin or b&m hyper). NO HAND ME DOWNS
    2. Like Taylor said, landscaping. Add some flowers or bushes or trees. It really is a concrete jungle
    3. Theming. I get this is SF, but still. You have dif areas, theme them
    4. Kid area upgrade. A kiddie coaster or something, more than teacups and balloons
    5. Take something people hate out (*cough* ninja sucks *cough*) and put something actually worth riding in it's spot. Like, something that doesn't make u want to take multiple tylenols and ibuprofens
    These are just 5 suggestions, and I could come up with a heck of a lot more.

    • @naroon5455

      Replace ninja with an RMC raptor.
      Also have RMC work their magic on the boss. Hell. Imagine the boss with the lightning rod treatment :D
      Replace screaming eagle with an intamin hyper.

    • @lotamuzic
      @lotamuzic 4 года назад +1

      Naroon: No replacing of the Eagle. It has landed and will (and should!) stay u til it literally falls apart. Awesome ride that I never miss each time I visit!
      I agree with most of what this commenter says though. Adding that a good coat of paint, a weed eater, and some scrap replacement wood would go a LONG way making improvements to this park...

  • @sonimatic

    I really think this park has one of the better Wooden coaster collections in the country. The problem is that they're all maintained sub-par by Six Flags. Especially Boss. Can you imagine a GCI treatment Boss with Millennium Flyers? It would be world class with its enormous drops and laterals. American Thunder is also a great GCI, and Screamin' Eagle is my favorite classic woodie. It's fast, has plenty of airtime, has laterals, and it's deep in the woods. What's not to love? To really bring this park up, it needs a major update to its wooden coasters and more regular maintenance, and it needs a standout steel coaster. A hyper style coaster by B&M, Mack, or even Vekoma would put this park on the map.

    • @StamfordBridge
      @StamfordBridge 5 лет назад +2

      True. For me, in particular American Thunder is a standout GCI. And I’ve ridden a lot of them.

  • @nathanschmidt4280

    I think an RMC raptor replacing Ninja would be a big step in the right direction for this park.
    Of course I want something bigger like a hyper or RMC Boss since it’s my home park, but that won’t happen until a solid smaller new coaster brings in more guests first

    • @jacobandrewclark
      @jacobandrewclark 6 лет назад +1

      I love that idea of a Raptor. Heck, make it a T-Rex while you're at it. I don't even care if it's that same layout; it would be way better than Ninja. You could literally copy what's going to Fiesta Texas and it would work perfectly.

    • @naroon5455
      @naroon5455 5 лет назад +1

      I just found this video and I've been working my way down the comments. I've had this same idea. A raptor in ninjas footprint would be great, especially since it's near the front of the park where everyone can see. And RMC also definitely needs to get a hold of the boss or screaming eagle, for a retrack at the very least. Ideally I would love an RMC version of boss, and an intamin hyper in screaming eagles footprint. I know it's blasphemy to get rid of such an icon there, but honestly it's hurt my spine so much I can't stand riding it anymore

    I have lived in St Louis my whole life and loved going to Six Flags. To this day I visit frequently and love the park for what it is. They do have some great rides. The Boss Screamin Eagle Mr Freeze and American Thunder are my favorites. This was one of the first three original Six Flags parks and I think it deserves better. I have been wanting for years for us to get that big signature coaster that will be talked about around the country but every year I am disappointed by some copycat mediocre ride while all the other parks get awesome stuff all the time which goes to show how little Six Flags care about this park. I have wanted to travel to other parks in the country and experience all the best coasters for years now but haven't had the means to do it, so I have to rely on my home park to provide adequate thrills. It really is a good park but I agree there is nothing really special about it but I hope that changes in the future.

      2007disneyhouse The Ninja gives good rides under these conditions
      Never in any row but the front, but even then it’s a really bad ride. Throws you around like Adam Wainwright throwing a baseball (he is so overrated, sue me) that weighs 1000 pounds at every part of your body 7 times. And they do hate Vekoma, but for good reason. The Vekomas in every park I’ve been to only give good rides once in a blue moon, and even then the rides are simply average. Replace The Ninja with an RMC Raptor, replace the Boomerang, Pandemonium, and Fireball with a B&M hyper. Problem solved.

    Hey there! I grew up in Eureka, MO and visited this park countless times since I was a kid. My first job ever was making funnel cakes at the building just before the "Studio Backlot" arch. Nothing like getting a group of friends to all get season passes and spending summers riding coasters and playing DanceDanceRevolution. This park is very nostalgic for me, but I agreed with your overall reaction to this park. There are much greater parks out there that I haven't been to yet. In fact, I now live a couple hours from Carowinds in Charlotte, NC. I want to thank you for the quality of your videos; my inner coaster enthusiast has been awakened, and you've planted the idea in my head to make a road trip to hit many parks!

    The major appeal to me of this park is that the wait times are super low. I went a few times a year as a kid, and got to ride some of my favorites sometimes multiple times in a row - Batman most memorably for me, but lots of the rides had short enough lines to do laps (especially the small attractions instead of coasters).

I think I'll always love it since it's my home park, but I can really see why people aren't huge fans of it. It seems like it has potential, but no one really does anything about it. I concur with Paulie Mills. SFSL is one of the 3 original SF parks, and one of only 3 remaining SF parks that has always been owned and operated exclusively by SF corporation since the beginning. Like so many things in St. Louis, our amusement park is historic! 😃

    SFSL is my home park, so I’ve come up with some ideas.
    1. RMC THE FREAKING BOSS
    It would be a huge, terrain rmc and would be a lot smoother
    2. Take out the ninja, replace it with a gerstlauer infinity. It could be a very compact, fun coaster.
    3. Update the park itself. Flowers, trees that actually look good, etc
    4. Retrack screamin Eagle
    5. Good, unique family rides

    • @lotamuzic
      @lotamuzic 4 года назад

      Channel 5 reported when it was announced Excalibur was coming here that it was a hand-me-down from another SF park. The reason for the move was because wherever it came from had stricter laws governing permanent amusement ride inspections, but it fit the regulations of Missouri at that time. So not only did we get someone else’s cast-off, it probably wasn’t safe to ride either!

    This my home park, I've been over 25 times with over 100 rides on American thunder this season alone. Although I love my park the way Taylor thinks is the way most people feel. Forgettable run-down Park etc etc. And honestly you can't deny it even though I remain hopeful I just wish we would have least one big investment to at least help the park overall and feel it would help with some of the issues. I shouldn't have to feel this way but I'm just happy that I have a park that's not very far away. That I can go to and ride roller coasters and I'm thankful for that . On a side note I'm surprised Taylor didn't say more about Screaming Eagle even though it's just a typical Out and back coaster. I feel like it really uses the terrain and is one of the better "classic" coasters around.

    This park is, for the most part, meh... but they do have a solid collection of wooden coasters in Boss, American Thunder and Screamin' Eagle. Found my night rides on Boss to be very impressive, and worth the long walk to get to it.
    Also, you always harp on clones, and I get it as an enthusiast, but I think you have to keep in mind that 95% of the people that visit this park are not going to visit another Six Flags park, ever. And that is real data from a park president. It makes a lot of economic sense to clone rides and drop them into their parks.

      100% true if i had options like if i could go to ceder point i would over this park any day but a lot of us ain't full of money and don't has much choice or option lol its closeby 45 minute drive from where i live and its convenient and just meant for family fun as a time killer for something fun. If i could travel to every park then yeah i would skip this place. But no money or resources to do so.

    I like the historic coasters there, especially River King Mine Train, which is a historic relocation from Dollywood, actually. And it’s a pretty park and very wooded, but it really needs some TLC. They desperately need a new coaster. The last complete circuit coaster built was American Thunder and that was before I graduated high school.

    One of the rollercoasters, the Scream'n Eagle, has history of being in the Guinness Book of Records in 1976 as being the tallest, longest, fastest. Not a big deal now days, but for coaster enthusiasts, it holds sentimental value. So this park has classic rides for whole families, but for thrill seekers, yes, there are crazier parks out there.

I've heard others say that they feel like there is more shade/trees here than the other SF parks. But like I said, other than that, everything you said is correct. We need that stand out coaster. My love of coasters originated here.
    On a middle school trip, my friends peer pressured me into riding with them and overcoming my fear -- years earlier my first coaster experience was on The Orient Express at Worlds of Fun in KC, which terrified me and put me on the verge of vomiting the rest of the day, thus I'd built an aversion/fear to coasters.
    Glad I caved to peer pressure

    I enjoy this park. I usually stop there when I'm passing through. It may not be a destination in itself like some better parks, but it's still a fun park to visit. I knew that this was a lesser park going in, so I wasn't disappointed. Mr Freeze can be found at SFOT, but the line for it is so much shorter at St Louis. American Thunder and Screamin Eagle are a lot of fun. I'll marathon those 3 coasters for several hours. Boss & Ninja were painfully rough.
    The waterpark is very good and adds a whole lot to the experience. They have (hopefully it's not being removed) the best body slide I've ever ridden. The attached waterpark makes this park more fun for me than SFOT, which doesn't have the waterpark attached. Something else that really impressed me is that the fellow guests visiting this park seem to be the nicest people in the world.
