I’ve never played guitar a day in my life but I love these videos because they break down for me what I love about this music and didn’t have words for. Like a sommelier describing a fine wine to the uninitiated. Thanks for your work!
I guess Im asking the wrong place but does anyone know a trick to get back into an Instagram account..? I was dumb lost the login password. I appreciate any help you can offer me!
Adam is my guitar teacher. Great guy as well as a great player. He amazes me all the time. He is a player that lives in Nashville. He introduced me to Sturgell’s music. Sturgell is always on my playlist.
This was such an interesting breakdown. Lots of people don't really talk about those little details so it was fascinating to hear all that stuff. Sturgill's the best
I am a newer fan of your channel Michael...and did not know this video existed in your arsenal. I am confident the magic of the internet, pulled it forward, as I am a huge Sturgill fan. This song and video are one of my all-time favorites. I believe the video was released back in 2013, and it "remains" in my top 20. I have found it very difficult to find another song that moves me musically as much as this one does. Thanks for the reconfirmation, Mr. Palmisano!
This was the video that hooked me into Sturgill. The song, the players, the voice. Everything at once is a little over powering to the soul. It most definitely a great piece! 👊🏽
Saw Sturgill with at rock festival and he played lead on many of the songs and KILLED it! Not only is he a fantastic songwriter and singer, but could play lead in so many rock bands. I’m a jam band guy but Sturgill is real deal guitarist. I always used to say I hated country but this dude got me
You should dig into some more Umphrey's. This is one of my all time favorites. The harmonized lead lines are spectacular. ruclips.net/video/8r16Dj64gfg/видео.html
Tyler, thanks for that suggestion. It’s definitely one of the strongest songs in his repertoire! But dang, he can’t do anything wrong with an acoustic!
Your energy and talent puts a voice to some of my favorite music. Please keep it up and there’s never enough Sturgill but, I have yet to be disappointed by one of your videos. Thanks again.
You should check out "Sometimes Wine" from back when Sturgill was kickin it with his band, "Sunday Valley" you wanna see some of what Sturgills got, he'll blow you away on that one.
I'm totally here for the these kind of videos! Also a big fan of Sturgill's live performances. Adam is definitely the kind of guitarist that I aspire to be
Dude I love these Sturgill reaction videos you do. I can tell you really get into every note of his music and you truely appreciate it. So much though, that at times it seems like you almost tear up. I'm not a guitarist like yourself, but he hits me in the same exact way. He can make you laugh and cry within the same verse. Like Jimmy V said, if you laugh, you think, and you cry, that's a full day..... that's a heck of a day. Sturgill has that effect on people.
Discovered you a couple days ago from the previous Sturgill video. Already addicted to these even though I'm a complete noob with guitar. Huge fan of the info and perspective you share, thank you!
Dude thank you so much for doing these every day like this, I’m picking up some very useful nuggets from your work. Your time and effort is much appreciated 🙌🏼💪🏼
Really been enjoying your explanations, enjoyment, and reaction to Sturgill, Colter Wall, and John Prine the last few days. I'd love to hear you describe any of John Moreland's songs. For my money he, Sturgill, and Jason Isbell are three of the giants writing and playing today.
Oh man. I've labored so hard working on my pedal steel tone. The 12-fret above harmonics is next level. Thanks for showing me this performance. I've listened to it, but never seen it live.
Thank you for introducing me to all these different bands in different genres that i wouldn't have normally checked out.I'm really enjoying them, and your enthusiasm for all the music is clear to see.
This video was made for me. For once a good recommendation from youtube. I saw the first Strugill video yesterday and subscribed right away. Good stuff man!
I just found your channel this past week and love it. Despite not actively playing anymore I'm a major music geek and love these sorts of videos. And unlike most people making them, you seem to know how much time to spend talking
I love Sturgill Simpsons music, he is one of the best singer songwriter of our time. I knew Sturgill when we were kids. His song Panbowl brings back so many memories for me, it takes me back to my childhood and the weekends I spent at Sturgills papaw's house with my dad.. my favorite Sturgill song is probably All around you ❤️❤️❤️
This is pretty much what I do to figure a song out except I'm squinting at my cracked Samsung screen. Love Sturgill. He brought country back for me. Awesome video dude!
I love these videos. I first saw Sturgill in 2013 at the Taft Theater in Cincinnati with Dwight Yoakam. I could have sworn there was a steel guitar inside of that Tele.
Hey I appreciate your analysis very much. I'm a new subscriber and have only been playing about 55 years so thanks for showing me that there's still so much to learn. Keep it up!
you and i agreed on everything and i mean everything in this video. when he did that allman brother major run the switched to minor. i was screaming at the tv. he switched to minor! then you came back around with it . my girl said to me “ dude he’s from baltimore it sounds like…. w have to meet this guy at a show. ( i’m from martinsburg wv but i go to all my shows in DC/Baltimore cuz that’s what i gotta do being form WV) amazing video
@MichaelPalmisano I'm not a musician but, your explanation helps me understand what I'm hearing. The video also catches a moment at 8:40 where the bassist feels what your saying too, as the freeze frame catches him wiping a tear away from his eye.
dang, love your vids, been watchin quite a few lately. Love some Sturgill, love some Cole, love some Tyler, love some Snarky (Larnell Lewis is the freak of drummer which I'm sure you're very well aware by now)...love how you can explain all the stuff within seconds. Cool man. Also (only cause I'm a drummer) the dude in this video playing falls right in the same vein of how you describe the guitarist. Just quality.
I made this comment on another of your videos already. I forgot to say how much I appreciate your musical ability and that you are helping to introduce more people to artists who (some of them) tend to get overlooked because they aren't in "the Nashville Click" Again i suggest if you like Simpson, Childers, and Colter, please check out Arlo McKinley - Bag of pills. Or Just like the rest, or I've got Her.. thank you!
Laur left the band after that tour you saw him with the horns and keys lineup. Oddly enough, he plays lead for Drivin n Cryin which is nothing near the gig he had with sturgill . Sturgill handles guitar leads for now but this new tour kicks off next week. I think he’ll have a new lead player for this tour.
Dude, i absolutely love your reactions. I always slow down the video and try to figure out what your doin on that guitar. Keep it up! It's only gonna grow! Just remember, more dead!!!! We love it!
You should check out Sturgill's stuff with Lars Joamets. The cat came to Nashville from Estonia and kills it on the Telecaster. Also in the country vein, check out the cat playing the Tele on Cody Jinks "Cast No Stones" on the Texas Music Scene video. Classic twang!
Please please please do Some Days live at the Sun King Brewery 🤘 love hearing you talk about Sturgill man. A lot of people like him but not everyone gets what makes him the real deal.
Hey man. Subscribed today. Love your educated and clear commentary. Your ear and passion are great to see. Thank you. You were geeking on lead guitar choices and made a comment i might have clarifying thoughts on. "Little muddy down there" when homy turned his lead run down to slow whacks on the big strings and it still cut well.... Couple layers to it that I'm hearing/have experienced similar: guitar friend is awesome yes. But THEN whoever is the magic producer and whoever is mixing are pulling the BEST tricks. You were talking about chord voicing and the choices each player is making to keep out of sturgills way. Mix monkey is doing the same thing with eq, pan and mix. This is exceptionally well done. Lead gtr eq is cut at ac gtr resonant voices and panned a bit left. Volume is perfectly set between vocal and ac gtr. Your comment on monitoring level HAS to be accurate for all involved, as the dynamics are impeccable. But note on close listening how a warm distortion occurs on the dynamically fullest moments. There is tube compression on this track, and it's extremely well applied. Man ive never heard him live, but i would absolutely LOVE to get the person behind Sturgills mixes coffee while they work. Keep em coming man! Stay safe.
Love what your doing, btw Sturgil got me to you, and I love hearing you break all the parts down. I would love to hear you break down some Tyler Childres stuff.. love the channel Thank you !!
cool breakdown you like tasty guitar check out the dude that plays lead for Corb Lund and a song called september its the finest country song this songwriters heard in eons
I actually spent a couple hours once trying to find out why Adam left the band and I guess he just never was a formal member, but I love his playing and his performance here. I'm giving you a sub here on the off chance you'll check out Tyler Childers (one of the guys Sturgill has produced). Lady May is a gorgeous song. But Tyler's style is all over his music.
You need some Steel Woods in your life! "The well" "rock that says my name" della jane" "anna lee". Hard to even pick just one. You would love some of jason "rowdy" Copes guitar playing on their more rocky stuff like "rock that says my name"

Wow, it's been a long time since I heard actual country music. Brings me back to all I loved about country music.
There's so much good country music still being made. Not on the radio though
Love this. Voice and guitar . AWESOME !

Wow great suggestion. The vocals on that are so damn good. Really like the Conan version too, but he was only doing vocals.
I want that version available for download. It's lightyears better than the album version.
Tyler, thanks for that suggestion. It’s definitely one of the strongest songs in his repertoire! But dang, he can’t do anything wrong with an acoustic!
