Great line and great movie. I graduated in 77 and "Dazed and Confused" reminded me so much of my High School years. Kids don't party like they used to in those days. I fucking love Sturgill Simpson. He, Jason Isbell, and Chris Stapleton are the only good fucking Country Artists out there. Anyone who says otherwise is just kidding themselves. Mainstream country is a joke.

I spent New Years day 2014 dancing in a Waffle House. It was like 2 minutes from midnight and we were still like 10 minutes from home, so we pulled into a Waffle House. We (me, my brother, and my parents) were the only ones there, so we blasted Crocodile Rock and danced with the staff as we counted in the new year, then ate cheesecake and hot chocolate. I was bummed that we were going to spend the new year in a car, but thanks to Waffle House, it ended up being one of my fondest memories :) I hope we made it a better night for the staff too.
You can not claim to be from the south if you've never been to the Waffle House at 3 A.M. after a party next to a table full of strippers in a debate over if IHOP serves Waffles? Then to have one of them ask the Waffle House server if they have pancakes and getting the reply: "this is called Waffle House, what do you think"?
I spent 8 months working the graveyard shift at a Waffle House/truck stop combo in Texas and I am subsequently no longer capable of being scared or disgusted by anything.
I remember being a teenager and my cousin working the graveyard shift at the one right outside of Spartanburg....so many nights we would eat for free as long as they weren't busy and we didn't show up smothering drunk. Good times.
No matter what happens in their careers from here on out, Colbert and Sturgill will always be able to walk into any Waffle House in America, point at the jukebox and know that they've left their mark. Scribbles in the sand, dudes, but those are some pretty awesome scribbles.
Yeah, half of the songs were country and half were baby-making soul jams that somehow managed to fit Waffles into them like "Tonight's the Night (At the Waffle House).
Gabe Thomason yea and every other mainstream "country" artist. Why exactly are we still calling that genre of music country? It's morphed into something like a cross between rap and pop with southern accents. Something along the lines of Southern pop, or fucking who knows, but majority isn't country. It's so fucking over mixed and over produced, have you heard the Florida Georgia line song with Tim McGraw? what the fuck, McGraw sounds like a fucking robot he's autotuned so heavily. just ridiculous . Thank God for sturgill and Stapleton and some of the new non mainstream as of yet generation. I hope sturgill keeps it true, figures out a way to get that big money without selling his soul, while keeping the integrity of his writing still.

Went to a local Waffle House this morning for breakfast. Checked the jukebox. Sure enough, the song's there.

It isn't on the jukebox in Savannah (2 hours from Charleston) in 2021
YES!!
Sturgill sounds alot like Waylon Jennings. And that is awesome.
what a slap in the face to waylon. This jackoff sounds like waylon taking a shit maybe
Funny because even Waylon said he sounds like him. And Shooter Jennings said Sturgill was the closest thing to Waylon that exists today.
William Stein Waylon died in 2002 so that’s bullshit
He's not even clos to waylon

How much Stephen pay you to write this? Because he isn’t funny
Sturgill is the best. I hope he'll be to Stephen what Warren Zevon was to Letterman.
He doesn't have the dangerous undertone that Zevon had. Good tune, however. Wonder what a Warren Zevon W.H song would sound like...
