I love this movie. The first two loosely follow the events in the games, then the series gets wild with the third movie onward, as the movies basically just borrow characters and creatures from the games while doing their own thing with the Alice (Milla Jovovich) storyline. It's a ridiculous, over-the-top action horror series that's got a lot of hits and more than a few misses, but I respect how Anderson & Co. swing for the fences creatively. These movies are a wild ride!

This series growing up was one of my favorites. Watched it so many times. It's a crime what they did to Michelle's character, but I'm still glad we got her while we could.
The commentary track on this is a riot - most of the principal cast shooting the shit and being goofy.
That's my favorite kind of cast commentary. Thanks for letting me know. I've always meant to pick this one up instead of renting it (or streaming these days) so I'll make a point to grab it next time I see it in the bargain bin.

The ending of this movie reminds me so much of 28 Days Later when Jim wakes up in the Hospital and The Walking Dead When Rick Grimes wakes up in the Hospital

Jason isaacs has been in nearly of Paul's films ,in this he's the voice delivering the opening monologue and the scientist at the end of the film.
This is still one of the best video game adaptations, not a perfect movie, but damn fun.

These movies were my introduction to Resident Evil back when I was a little girl. I didn’t even know they were based on games.
Now I have fallen into the RE game rabbit hole thanks to playing the RE2 remake last year. And now I’m currently playing the first RE remake which is a masterpiece. Even then, I hope REengine re-remakes that one as well.
I love these movies even more now because now I get any references and get hyped when actual in-game characters show up. I didn’t even know how important they were. Won’t say who to avoid spoilers.

If you can force yourself past the graphics and bit of jank of the originals, I'd highly recommend either grabbing a copy or emulating them.
No hate to the remakes, because I understand they've brought in a number of new fans and managed to ditch some of the more off-putting aspects of the originals, but the events differ quite significantly between the original versions and the remakes.
If neither of those approaches are your speed, at least watch some LPs on RUclips since you get different story beats between the versions.
Or don't. I suppose it all comes down to how captivating you find the universe.
The people who made the video game were afraid that the movie would give away the plot of the game so they asked him to come up with something original but set in the same sort of world.
The stupidest thing about that awesomely ludicrous laser scene is that there is a foot of space at either end of the hall where the laser doesn’t touch…

the others are ok, some better than others, people hate on them because they go away from the video game script but they do try and tie in some aspects. worth a watch, will only watch some once though
I always loved these movies, the first 2 are my fav. There’s a surprising amount of detail to the first few. And it is a damn shame our girl Michelle died at the end, she deserved to stick around.
Speaking of Vasquez, if you haven't seen it, Near Dark is a real good movie. Stars Jeannette Goldstein (Vasquez) & Lance Henricksen (Bishop).
Ah, Colin Salmon the other british actor, besides Sean Bean usually signed in film just to die. This film is so much fun. Maybe this is not that good as of film but it surely is entertaining. Milla Jovovich is absolutely stunner in red dress and high black boots.
Silent Hill movie is pretty good too and crazy scary AF!

It was actually Marilyn Manson who did the soundtrack. Interestingly enough, both Trent and Marilyn Manson worked together early on in Manson's career...

Yep.....and how it was ago that she got bit. Tht T-virus had basically taken over by the time she got the cure. Now Cap, I was so upset about as they wouldn't have gotten out without him and he would've lived as it hadn't taken affect yet. So he at least would be alive if not for the licker.

Ok but I wish they didn’t kill off Kaplan. After all that, he just had to die at the end :( He had the best arc. Even though he was scared, he still soldiered on to complete the mission.
And I wish we got to have more time with the captain. Total badass. Laser room scene is iconic. Love that the RE4 game pays homage to it.

The Resident Evil movies got a lot of crap, but I always loved them, so good.
For me after the sequel Apocalypse the series kinda dies a slow ridiculous death. But the first 2 movies are badass!

the way i feel about this film is also the same way i feel about godzilla (1998). they’re both objectively fun movies but they stray so far away from the source material it would make sense that diehard fans would be disappointed.

Michelle Rodriguez's character Rain would have been a bad ass character for the game.
Afterlife is probably the best one. And the last one throws some major curve balls. It essentially tells you everything about the world in like 10 minutes.
But if your looking for some Leon that stays true to the games, as far as I can tell, watch the resident evil animated trilogy. It's essentially Leon's story. Degeneration is the best.

You need to play the Resident Evil 2 remake on PS4-PS5. Its good.
All of movies are worth watching, if you can divorce them from the games, in your mind. Just think of them as an alternate reality to the events of the games.

Hmmm maybe because I played Amnesia, Alien, Soma, I didn't think it was that scary, awesome game, yes, but not that scary.
If you're a fan of the games, please just take the games out of your head while watching these movies :') They become infinitely more enjoyable to watch that way. They're SO bad as Resident Evil movies, while being okay to decent with good moments as just dumb action horror movies
That being said, there is a steep decline once you get past 4, continuity just matters less and less to the point of exhaustion

They're not good movies. And some of them have like 100 cuts for a 10 min action scene. But damned if I haven't seen them a dozen times. 4 is probably the worst by far. 5 actually let's the fight scenes breath a little bit and they are really fun

The BRILLIANT THING about this film is that it's literally the story of Alice in Wonderland. And each of the Characters in this behaves just like Characters in Alice in Wonderland.
It's fun seeing fans of the games react to this silly movie. Good times nonetheless.

First two movies are the best. And I can't stand horror and dislike zombies.
None of this is canon to the games. The are very much their own really terrible story.
The story in this film is actually better written and with more character development than most of what we get in the games, to be fair the games were never known for having a good story, i love them but their strenght is atmosphere and game design, story, writing and character-wise it's all very juvenile, Leon has so many appearances and the dude is known for doing cool flips, having a 90s haircut and saying corny one-liners, that speaks about the terrible quality of the story of the games, this film did really well in comparison to all of that.

My all time favorite game and movie sadly for the movies this one is the best really and 2 is ok I seen Resident Evil Afterlife 3D in the theater and it was ok at best..much better in the theater at least. The games have always been amazing..except a few like Operation Racoon City..except online it was ok .. and I've played all of them Re2 remake is great and Re4 remake currently playing is great also. Still have and play the other like Re4..Re5..Re6..Re Revelations.

I love the Resident Evil movies - both Mila's live and the 3D animated ones. They get a little screwed up, but I like the ending to the last one. At least Alice is always fighting to win, instead of just surviving.
It more hopeful than Walking Dead. In Walking Dead, the Zombies will never go away, so any Hope is fleeting.
