If you're looking for a very underrated, more psychological horror film, check out 1408. It's a Stephen King adaptation starring John Cusack and Samuel L. Jackson. Deserves more recognition than it got IMHO.
Matthew Lillard (Stu) must like scary or spooky parts as well as a bit of comedy considering some of his repertoire. Scream Thirteen Ghosts Scooby Doo Serial Mom 🤣😂 I grew up on movies like Creature From The Black Lagoon (1954) and The Blob (1958). Then moved on to ones like Poltergeist and Alien.
You gotta watch I know what you did last summer, six sense, matrix, usual suspects ... otherwise you wont get all the jokes but the main films are scream and I know what you did last summer.
As much as I love the first two Scary Movie's. I was only 11 when things first came out so my peers and I never realized that this is the truest satire of the Slasher genre. And thus I dub this movie the most 90's movie of the 90's. And the fact that this was practically the follow up to Freddy's New Nightmare. The previous 90's Meta king.
After John Carpenter's Halloween officially began the reign of Slasher movies back in the 80s, Wes Craven followed with Nightmare on Elm Street, partially burying the genre for a decade, until he came out with Scream, ultimately reviving the genre🔥
Fun piece of trivia: Skeet Ulrich (Billy) wasn't supposed to throw the phone at Matthew Lillard (Stu) and his reaction was candid. Wes Craven loved it so much he left it in the final cut.
2:00 Well, they were allowed to reference A Nightmare on Elm Street because the director of Scream was Wes Craven, the man who created A Nightmare on Elm Street. I don't know about Halloween, but everyone name drops a horror movie in a horror movie somehow.
Yes! Exactly! So glad you understood and appreciated the satire and intelligence of this movie (and the amazing horror movie references). I think it is so underrated and I love all the movies (never seen the TV series) so definitely check them out.
I saw Scream at the drive in when I was 8 years old and that opening scene petrified me. I was in tears, begging to go home. No horror movie has scared me the way Scream did. Hence why it is my favourite horror movie.
Not sure about the referencing of the other movies but the original Nightmare On Elm Street and Scream were directed by the same person who also played the janitor in this movie while wearing a Freddy Krueger outfit.
It's kinda ironic that Drew Barrymore's career as an adult began with this film considering shes the second victim in the line up, or third if you count Sidney's mom.
This movie was so lethal that it killed traditional slasher movies for years. Scream was like the kid saying “the emperor has no clothes” so emperor/ slasher movies had to hide in shame for years.
Casey was always in the script, but Drew wasn't cast as Casey originally. Drew was going to play Sidney. She changed her mind a couple weeks before production began and said she'd rather play Casey.
Scream is my favorite movie (and franchise) of all time. It's the only horror film to ever scare me (when I was a child). I got to see it in theatres last year and I'm actually seeing it in theatres again in Oct.

the guy who wrote this movie, also wrote the first 3 seasons of the vampire diaries, "the faculty (very good teen sci-fy thriller), i know what you did last summer, and dawson's creek (he's dawson /autobiography show)
Scream 1 and 4 are the only that actually get it, and I still think the first is the only one that TRULY hits the strive, 2 and 3 didn’t hit the same at all
Thank you for the continued great reactions! Check out "Cabin in the Woods" for another horror movie that is self aware, and amazing!
In Scary movie his character is named Doofy lol.
Doofy is a classic.. Especially at the end of scary movie
"Are they allowed" well with Scream it can be summed up as Try and Stop us lol.
Wes Craven directed it…he also wrote and directed the original Nightmare on Elm Street movie with Johnny Depp. Scream was his back to pop culture form. :) so happy you’re diving into the land of Wes Craven.
This movie ranked at #13 in the 100 scariest movie moments on Bravo
If you're looking for a very underrated, more psychological horror film, check out 1408. It's a Stephen King adaptation starring John Cusack and Samuel L. Jackson. Deserves more recognition than it got IMHO.
Oh hell yeah I wonder which ending he’s going to get though since the movie has 4 endings
“All told there have been 58 endings to 1408”
Matthew Lillard (Stu) must like scary or spooky parts as well as a bit of comedy considering some of his repertoire.
Scream
Thirteen Ghosts
Scooby Doo
Serial Mom
🤣😂
I grew up on movies like Creature From The Black Lagoon (1954) and The Blob (1958). Then moved on to ones like Poltergeist and Alien.
I LOVE 13 Ghosts.... such a great little gem of a film. And the extra features on the DVD set with the breakdown of all the ghosts was amazing.
Also did a small bit in the 3rd season of Twin Peaks. A show that imo is one of the greatest works of horror ever made.
If you haven't already, you HAVE to watch Scary Movie 1-2 after this :)
Scream is brilliant, my favorite horror movie! Can't wait to see your reaction to the sequels, which are all good as well.
It's big change in horror genre back then
Fun piece of trivia: Skeet Ulrich (Billy) wasn't supposed to throw the phone at Matthew Lillard (Stu) and his reaction was candid. Wes Craven loved it so much he left it in the final cut.
React to The fog, killer clown from outer space, Silver bullet, people under the stairs and MONSTER SQUAD
I love this movie 🍿🍿
2:00 Well, they were allowed to reference A Nightmare on Elm Street because the director of Scream was Wes Craven, the man who created A Nightmare on Elm Street. I don't know about Halloween, but everyone name drops a horror movie in a horror movie somehow.
“I’LL B RIGHT BACK!” 😂🤣😂🤣😂
Love these flicks! Revamped the horror/slasher films 🎥 I was in highschool as well so this has all the nostalgia feels for the clothes and the music.
13:40 This is actually a Cameo. The Janitor is Wes Craven.
Your reaction to "Move your Fat tub-of-lard-ass, NOW" was gold. Scream 2 next? It's the best.
When she said, "not in your dreams" and then crushed him with the TV, so nightmare on elm St.
Wes Craven has two sleeper horror-fun films from the earlyish 90s you’d enjoy; Shocker (1989) and The People Under The Stairs (1991).
Shocker was so good.
It had such an interesting premise.
Vampire in Brooklyn too
@10:50 - That’s Linda Blair from the Exorcist making a cameo appearance.
Awesome Work and Awesome Movie Bro, Thaaaaanks!!!! 👍👍Greetings from Helsinki, Finland 🇫🇮🇺🇸🇫🇮🇺🇸
Moi from Melbourne. I was born in Helsinki and moved to Australia when I was a child. 🇫🇮🇫🇮🇫🇮🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
@@julianaFinn Hello Juliana! Glad to know👍😀
I'm glad he made his way to this classic, keep em coming 👍🏾💪🏾💯
Wes Craven makes some fun ass movies, " bam bitch went down" : P
THE BEST opening of any movie (horror or otherwise) to any movie, Ever. For real, anyone, try to convince me otherwise… 🧐👀
Yes!
Everyone underestimated Sidney. That’s what makes her awesome
The 4th is my favorite.
Please watch them all.
Then..maybe..Scary Movie after?
Not sure about the referencing of the other movies but the original Nightmare On Elm Street and Scream were directed by the same person who also played the janitor in this movie while wearing a Freddy Krueger outfit.
Drew Barrymore dying in the beginning is a reference to the great Alfred Hitchcock.
It's kinda ironic that Drew Barrymore's career as an adult began with this film considering shes the second victim in the line up, or third if you count Sidney's mom.
Skeet Ulrich was great in this
I went instant like button soonest I clicked the video ❤️
This movie was so lethal that it killed traditional slasher movies for years. Scream was like the kid saying “the emperor has no clothes” so emperor/ slasher movies had to hide in shame for years.
Drew Barrymore getting killed off was for shock value, noone was supposed to think her character would get killed.
Casey was always in the script, but Drew wasn't cast as Casey originally. Drew was going to play Sidney. She changed her mind a couple weeks before production began and said she'd rather play Casey.
I always thought when Scary Movie made fun of this movie they were being extra but a lot of the jokes are actually in this movie too 😂
Scream is my favorite movie (and franchise) of all time. It's the only horror film to ever scare me (when I was a child). I got to see it in theatres last year and I'm actually seeing it in theatres again in Oct.
Stu was my favorite character in this movie!!! I was kind of hoping he didnt actually die!!
Matthew Lillard as Stu was amazing.
You gotta watch The Lost Boys! It will render you a ton of views. Its the most badass Vampire movie EVER created!
OMG!! YES!! The Lost Boys has the soundtrack and the talent and is by far one of the best films made in that genre. 👌
On December 20,1996 the film was released.
matthew lillard is the highlight of the movie.
Normally i don't watch a full video when it's more than 27 minutes... But this thime i did i am a big fan of the movie 🎥
Just discovered you're channel you seem a nice guy so you just got a new subscriber
I love your reactions and channel, including this one. But I just wish someone from your get would watch this movie and see the principal and shout "Hey! It's Fonzie!".
Do the full series
"I'm feeling a little woozy here!"
Scream was that movie that was Halloween in 96
you should consider reacting to the south korean series on netflix Squid Game, it's really popping right now.
Just for the record she actually could fit thru the cat door. Easily. That had to have her sit so it would look like she couldn't.
Stu, not smart enough to plan the murders, but dumb enough to be convinced to go along.
Jamie Kennedy in the video store! LMAO! Takes me back. Dad's on the weekends was the horror movie Mecca! Great films at the video sto'!
That was fun. I don't usually like slasher movies but Scream is silly too.
I just watched scream 4 it's so fun i laughed so many times during this film. Great fun 👍😁
Glad I got to see it on the big screen back in '96. I've got a very fond memory seeing this for the first time as part of a triple feature. METRO, SCREAM & JACKIE CHAN'S FIRST STRIKE. Hard to believe that was 25 years ago!
Great reaction! Looking forward to you reacting to the other scream films

Heyyyy good flick!! I really thought Skeet was going to be THE next Johnny Depp❤️. Eh, he was alright on this I did like Matthew Lillard's character. Goofy bastard😂😂
I'm kind of embarrassed to say but I always thought Skeet was super cute... and Matthew is just one of the most underrated actors and writers out there.
Can’t wait for other horror old movie !!! The remake of the last house on the left ?! Greetings from France 🇫🇷
Buuuuut wait.....there's mooooore! Favorite line😆
it’s crazy cuz they had to nail her shirt to the garage because she could actually fit lol
Of course everyone be jumpy... " Their in a Scream Movie "
Cameo by Linda Blair from The Exorcist. Reporter yelling "Sidney how does it feel to almost be brutally butchered?"
The Cabin In The Woods must be the next one!
This is the second attempt at this self aware type of horror movie. Just before it Wes released the same idea within the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise. It was called A New Nightmare, quite effectively scary too. The idea was that the original movie was a movie and the actors and crew become haunted by a real Freddy. Only movie where Freddy actually goes after a kid (which is odd considering his backstory).
That's a pre-Harvey Rose Mc Gowan there...
Scream director directed Freddy
8:50 I've seen this movie a million times since it came out and I've always had the same question, until last time I watched it a few months ago and realized that he has the gun on the other hand, so he knocked with the hand with the mask and then got distracted looking around for the killer and left the hand with the mask against the door
Loved your reaction to this classic. Can't wait for you to follow up with the sequels.
