YES, that's one of the things that I LOVE about Sidney! She doesn't care who you are she's not afraid to talk shit back to them and can be savage lol (Except for Randy, he did that and got killed for shit talking on Billy with Ms. Loomis). She is mostly the one who doesn't beg for her life and actually fights back with balls and win (well Gale and Dewey did a little bit in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th). I mean, obviously, Sidney is afraid for her life, but she's not going to let the killers see it. She knows when she needs to run when she has to, but she also knows when she needs to fight back and finish it.
The original version of Rule 3 was in the trailer and it went “Never ever under any circumstances assume the killer is dead.” It was changed to “If you want your films to become a successful franchise, never, ever-“ and got cut off as an in joke by the crew referencing that it’s impossible to ensure a horror franchise will be successful
yes, they thought they didn't have the true answer themselves yet they must have created the most successful and well regarded horror franchise ever.
I also think it can be "never kill your main character" since it is a mistake most horror franchise did but of course they cannot say it out loud because it would mean they won't kill sidney for sure and they had to make us believe it could happen.
I always assumed it’s “never ever kill off your main character.” It is a great way of instantly alienating a fan base when there was no need for that. Just let them have a happy breakfast scene after it all being over.
I love Mrs. Loomis as a killer, it's such nice reference to Friday the 13th and it makes sense in the plot. Like she said, old fashion revenge.
Isn't her last name Loomis a reference to the Michael Myers case worker "Dr. Samuel Loomis" from the Halloween Franchise???......... just asking 🤷🏾♂️

There were a ton of clues it would be Mrs. Loomis:
The opening scene in the bathroom stall has Debbie talking to her dead son Billy in the same manner Mrs. Voorhees talks to her dead son Jason in the original Friday the 13th.
In the stab clip they showed us the scene where Billy talks about his mom abandoning him again.
Debbie Salt is in at least five scenes in the movie keeping her fresh in your mind roughly every 20 minutes or so.
In one of those scenes Debbie specifically says that the killer is going to be from Woodsboro.
When Randy and Dewey are talking Dewey says that the killers are typically white males but Randy says Mrs. Voorhees made a terrific serial killer.
Randy is also killed when he speaks poorly about Billy Loomis is also sort of a hint as well.

No it didn't. Caller ID was around for years before the movie. Scream just boosted the sells.

Especially when everyone thought it was just a joke or a publicity stunt! What a horrible way to go, though. Surrounded by hundreds of ppl, help literally INCHES away, a room full of ppl who could literally save you. And everyone thinks you are just pranking them. An entirely diferent level of desperation and despair in the final moments.

Got to love the play with Sid as Cassandra.. The music "The Cassandra Aria" was performed by Danny Elfman... Fantastic music.
Sara Michelle Gellar was in “I know what you did Last Summer” this same year, also she was in Buffy, so she was doing her Scream Queen thing in the late 90s
Sarah Michelle Gellar was in "Buffy The Vampire Slayer" tv series early on before she made her appearance in "Scream 2", and in "I know What You Did Last Summer" which btw are her first two major film roles. The show premiered in March '97, I Know What You Did Last Summer came out later in october and Scream 2 came out in december.
I think the whole point of the Jada scene was that she couldn’t believe she wasn’t being helped by anyone. She had just been stabbed to death in a room full of people who watched and didn’t do anything
They thought she was part of a promotional act for the premiere of Stab. They thought the boyfriend was an actor set up by the cinema. It wasn’t until the last minute after she was on stage that they noticed she was bleeding and dying. By that point they couldn’t do anything to save her as it was too late
That Angered Black People With Jada Pinkett And Omar Epps, 2 Lead Actor Being Killed And Being Killed In Beginning. At Least They Were First Shown In The Movie. They Should've Had Them Connected To Sidney's Roommate-Jada Pinkett & Elise Neal Cousins Or Sisters.
Actually there's a great hint as to who the killer would be from several clues. A trivia question in the first.. "Mrs Vorhees was the original killer.. Jason didn't show up until the sequel!".. then you have Phil listening to the weird sounds in the other stall in the opening of this film similar to the sounds Mrs Vorhees made during the final chase in "Friday the 13th". Plus the killers are inverted from the series with the son in the first and his mother seeking revenge in the second..
Also the Tori Spelling 'STAB' scene which references Mrs. Loomis.
When you said stop being dramatic, just ask for help….. My first thought, “He’s never been stabbed before….”
In the original script for Scream 2 the killers were Derek , Haley and Mrs.Loomis but the script got leaked online early in production so they had to change it up
They dropped so many clues that you didn't notice during this scene 7:13 and this scene 14:53 not only that you see that micky carried a tape recorder around with him and so did the killer who was recording his victims.

Caller ID was around for years but it wasn't as popular here in the U.S. but according to research scream tripled the sales on caller I.D. and made it more popular. I don't remember seeing caller ID until 1997 by a company call Bell Atlantic even though they've been around before that.

I also wanted to comment and tell you the reason why he cut her boyfriends arm but not kill him is because he knows Sidney will try to keep him away from her and the more people she pushes away so they don't get "hurt" or "killed" and that's better for the killer to get her alone.

Welcome to the scream fandom. Im curious on your ranking after you see all 4 movies. There is always a debate on if 2 or 4 is the better sequel.
Part 3 is very different but not awful. They had to changed the whole plot of scream 3 at the last minute & Kevin Williamson (who wrote scream 1, 2, &4) didn’t write part 3, so it’s a diff feel to that movie.
Not sure about nowadays, but in the late 90's early 2000's, radio stations would have midnight premiere showings of movies. They were never as crazy as depicted in this movie, but they were exciting because of all the freebies you'd get.
Just a heads up: Scream 3 has a different feel from 1&2. A lot of people don't like that one, but I definitely find it entertaining and action packed... Scream 4 goes back to its roots, but is modernized.. Totally looking forward to your reactions to them both, as well as the the trailer for Scream 5, (it comes out in January... YAAAAY!)

I mean Billys mother might have came outta nowhere but that was kinda the point, no one expected it.
The entire movie most ppl thought she was some filler character random reporter that rivaled Gale but turns out its someone from Sidneys past. Its why she kept distance from Sidney as well so she wouldn't recognize her after all the weight loss. So in a sense you kinda got what you complained about but then said you wanted hehe
However I do agree with you that they could've played around with her character, perhaps giving some clues in the one on ones with Gale but that might have ruined the surprise of a mothers revenge plot.

Randy's death killed my love for this franchise. I didn't like any of the sequels after because his character was the heart and lungs of the whole series. Glad MTV didn't make the same mistake with their Scream TV Show. Jamie Kennedy was by far the most underrated character of the whole franchise. I dare anyone to disagree. His character deserved a much better story. I just couldn't look at any Scream movie the same after.
i recommend reacting to following movies. Army of 12 monkeys (1995), AI(1999), Sleepy Hollow (1999) and Event Horizon (1998)
The original script was leaked by an extra, so they rewrote it and made everyone sign NDA's so that wouldn't happen again.
I think what they were going for with Billy's mom being the killer was the entire reverse Friday the 13th thing. Since Billy was the killer in the first, the mom was the killer in the second. I get what they were going for, but still, yeah, weird twist ending.
first movie i saw with omar epps was when he starred with tupac in Juice (1992). great actor.

I won’t give any hints or spoilers (obviously), but when you watch the 3rd, keep in mind that production started right after the Columbine school shooting. The country was in a very different frame of mind following that.
I still think it is a great movie! (I love all 4 of the films. My favorite franchise of any genre!)

Huge mistake killing off Randy who was what I'd say the most popular character along with Dewey in this franchise. They could have had a lot of fun with him in future films.
@TheVolourn She's the main star in all the movies which is why that is but I feel sure that Dewey and Randy are the characters people enjoy watching the most when they're on the screen. Every reactor I watch hate the fact Randy dies so I wouldn't call him overrated to the majority of fans of the franchise.
@TheVolourn Top characters don't necessarily mean the best or favorite characters. In the first two films, Randy for as little time he got on screen was the guy who many still enjoyed watching moreover than Sidney judging from reviewers reactions I've seen when he dies. Sidney comes to mind as a top character because she's the main star that goes deep in the series so she will be labeled as a 'top character" before Randy. I've always found Sidney to be boring surrounded by better characters who's depth is only created with each movie giving her a history.
I'm hoping you do a Scream 3 and 4 reaction! Just a heads up Scream 3 was the worst until 5 came out. Scream 4 is the second best in the series.

He did YEARS on a murder-grape that he didn't commit, based on Sydney's testimony. And she won't even give him 2 minutes of her time, maybe tell him she's sorry she made a mistake.
The latter part of his sentence put him at the very bottom of the totem pole in prison, making it all the worse... weirdo lefties scream about grape culture, yet even prisoner's don't tolerate grapists amongst them... they're barely a teeny step above those, who mess with children.

And the original Screen Wes wanted Drew to play Sidney and she refused and took the smaller part .. Scream totally rebooted Drew’s career.. Jada was good but she wasn’t Drew but that’s just my opinion

No, she was doing this when going into filming for her 2nd season of Buffy. She also did "I know what you did last summer" that same year. When she was doing Buffy throughout the seasons, I always recognized what other projects she was doing at the time based on her hair styles, lol. She had CiCi/Helen hair in 97 season 2, season 3 was the time she did "Cruel Intentions," and then had her Daphne hair from Scooby-Doo in the beginning of season 6.
