I will never know which is funnier, black Robert Downey Jr or bald Tom Cruise.
black rdj
😂😂
Black RDJ is funnier
That’s a close one, but black RDJ.
RDJ did that
6:45 Ben Stiller's wife. She's in a few of his movies. Probably best known as Marcia Brady in the Brady Bunch movie remakes.
You two weren't ready for this movie
I laughed hard almost all the way through this movie - even after seeing it several times. It makes me feel a little sad when some people watch and don't get various scenes. Maybe it just takes multiple viewings or isn't their "cup of tea."
Love your GODFATHER Tshirt
Thanks 💜👍🏾
Funniest part for me was Short-Squat trying to stab ben stiller in the neck when he was running accross the bridge XD
🤣🤣 LOL so funny 😭
Great choice…a little edgy and controversial but hilarious!
I paused sleepy hollow at the beginning for this reaction 😂
🤣😅 Hope we don’t disappoint
yall realize thats Tom Cruise 23:00
lol yeah we realized when the movie was almost over. 😄
And true to his character, Robert Downey Jr doesn't break character until the end of the DVD commentary
Tom Cruise playing Harvey Weinstein. 😆
i have a Movie that will keep you in DEEP Thought ............Please do a reaction to the Movie called " The Day After "
You should watch True Romance director's cut. Steller film. You two would love it.
this is gonna be pathetic with ghosting...
Over-censored reaction. Ruined it.
One of the best comedies of all time. Everyone kills it in this film.
🔥🔥
@@JynxRyl react 12 monkeys
Loved your reaction. Robert Downey, Jr’s mom did not want him to do this part. His career was just getting started again after some legal problems. She thought it was too risky. Ironically, though, Ben Stiller got most of the heat for playing a mentally challenged person. Also, this may be my favorite Tom Cruise role. 😂
Happy this movie was made 😂👍🏾
"Oh, Robert!!" 😂😂😂😂😂😂
“I want to have fat hands and I want to dance.’ This was Tom’s prerequisite for playing the role!
His dancing scenes are art!
😄👍🏾
'I'm a dude, playing the dude, disguised as another dude"!! 🤔🤣😂
Lol
Haha 😂 love it
"... and I dont drop character until I've done the DVD commentary."
And he did the dvd commentary in character. It's hilarious @@Muck006
The body suit and dancing was something Tom Cruise insisted on as the conditions for him taking the part
And the fat hands!
This is a great topper for all the war movies y'all have been watching lol
This was so EPIC!! 🔥🤣
Hah! I was just finishing up your Barry Reactions when this dropped
As a black man I thought RDJ in this movie was funny AF and there’s got to be a point where you got to just laugh at something’s
The vast majority of black people I've seen review or reference this movie 1) understood what the blackface was all about (the whole movie is a mockery of the entire acting profession) and 2) found it remarkable how well RDJ playing the part.
40:06 I think Robert Downey Jr. would consider it high praise for you to say, “The craziest part was the TWO black guys”😂Great reaction ❤
🤣🤣👍🏾
How did Rick Peck (Matthew McConaughey) get there with the Tivo and how did he get out? He took the G5 and used it to rescue Ben Stiller!
Aside from the brilliant writing, stellar cast, hilarious comedy, and solid action, this movie has one of the greatest soundtracks ever.
"What do you mean, You People?"
"What do YOU mean, You People?" 🤣
Jean Claude Van Damme most famous movie “Bloodsport” is about a real life guy who made it all up 😂. But that movie is “Damme” good.
🤣🤣
Havent seen that in years. great movie.
When robert downey jr says he diesnt break character till after the dvd commentary he means it, he did the dvd commentary as the character its great
The only time I've ever watched a commentary, and it was worth it 😂
The facial expression Jay Baruchel makes when Ben Still says you people always cracks me up😂😂. I think Tropic Thunder will be 16 years old this year and it’s as good or better than the comedies coming out now.
Edit: Ben Stiller not Ben Still😂
😂😂👍🏾
It’s better to quit than to step on a land mine.
I didn’t catch on to Tom Cruise until the end, either. It’s the voice that I recognized earlier. It was nagging at me but I couldn’t place it. Cruise has a very distinct voice. When he said, “A nutless monkey could do your job”, it clicked.
Haha 👍🏾
'If he gets untied during the night, we know who did it' 😂
Lance was Lance Bass of the 90s pop group N*SYNC.
😁
It's funny because this shows you just how amazing makeup can be. Two major actors and yet they didn't recognize either of them. I'm 10 minutes in and I don't think they realize the studio head is Tom Cruise rofl
lol 😂
I was same with Downey Jr the acting was brilliant he had me in hysterics one minute tears the next,I'll never look @ tom cruise the same way especially when he's doing mission impossible.
I didn’t realize it was Tom Cruise til the credits when I saw it in theaters
I remember watching this in theaters and being so confused with those fake trailers 😂😂😂
I've never seen Jyn laugh so hard.
You made me laugh, too!
😄💜
I guess you could say Sgt. Lincoln Osiris didn't survive, since Kirk Lazarus (R.D.Jr.) abandoned the character while he was in the jungle.
Haha true.
One of the funniest movies out there!! Broke so many walls!
🔥💜
2:09 - the LOOK on Ryl's face!! "...the men who attempted to make that movie." LOL!!!
LOL 😂
The part, with the guy that is kneeling with his hands raised to the air while the enemies are shooting into his back, looked exactly the same as the scene in "Platoon".
Yeah the opening spoofs a few war movies like Platoon. Most people seem to miss that.
You two are simply too young to understand many of the references and tone of humor of a movie like this, from that era, spoofing movies from another era, and Hollywood culture. Not a bad thing, just a thing.
This movie ma ma ma makes me happy😂
A classy classic reaction channel without a doubt! 💯🤩🤙
Haha 💜👍🏾
This was the last time anyone held up a mirror to Hollywood. Everyone is too scared of getting cancelled now. Brilliant movie!
Explain what "cancelled" means.
Booty Sweat!
🔥🔥🤣
Virtual hug
💜💜
The jokes are so dumb but then you hear the stuff that goes on behind the scenes in Hollywood and somehow it becomes almost perfect lol
Girls did you recognise the white guy blacked up it was robert downey jr.
VH ladies. You are not anoying at all. If anything, get crazier.
☺️💜 we appreciate you
Virtual Hug ❤
I'm so happy you guys liked this movie. This movie is a perfect example that you can push past the limits of social correctness and still make a great film.
As always, you two make me smile and laugh with your reactions ❤
It was awesome!! 🔥💜
6:47 "Can Speedman muh-muh-muh make audiences happy???" 😂😂😂😂
Epic - everyone talks about the performances and lines of the main actors in this movie and yet she delivers one of the best lines of all.
What’s Spider-Man doing? 😂
🤣🤣
This movie was designed to offend essentially everyone and you two handled it fantastically. Virtual Hug.
😄💜💜
Not sure if you know but that is Tom Cruise playing Les Grossman.
Yes we realized when the movie was almost over 😅
Honestly, my favorite character is Tom Cruise's character.
He was epic.
Tom killed it.
🔥🔥
Len Grossman is loosely based on Harvey Weinstein, who was a ruthless and very slobbishhollywood movie producer. They were going to make a movie with Tom Cruise's Len Grossman as the central character but then the Harvey Weinstein scandal became public and they scrapped the idea as being too insensitive to the women Weinsten abused. Weinstein currently is serving a massive sentence for multiple convictions for S assaulting a number of actresses.
What’s bad is Weinstein’s just the tip of the iceberg. There’s still lots of powerful producers just like him but Hollywood’s protecting them
"They found me in an old refrigerator box trying to reenter Earth's atmosphere."
Two things that don't get noticed too often in this movie :
- When Speed Tugman and his manager talk on the phone about Speed adopting -- the kid shown there is holding a knife -- the same thing that the second kid on the bridge scene is holding -- kind of meaning that he's such a horrible dad that both "his kids" try to murder him .
- Also, Tom Cruise is acting as a Movie studio executive or president -- and his name is Les Grossman -- (i.e. less gross man) , meaning that studio executives and presidents are even more gross & ugly (in looks and behavior) than his character is .
It's the little things in this movie that matter ... -- like both of the black guys surviving ... , as you noticed .

@@JynxRyl cool
THIS reaction=Subscribed! Btw, I also didn’t recognize Tom Cruise until the very end 😅
😂 they did amazing with the makeup 👍🏾
The look on Ryl's face when Tom Cruise started playing the song almost had me crying, LOL! Her jaw literally fell open. Or as Jyn would say, "I almost had a crisis-es..."
😄😂 lol 💜 that’s funny 👍🏾
This movie wasn't for you guys.
Y’all probably should’ve watched some Vietnam war movies before this
Director died to dissuade young up and coming directors from putting their crew and actors in harms way for cheap and easy action. look into the John Landis and the Twilight Zone movie. Actors died for stupid reasons. PLAYAAAA
The intro at the first with Jack Black playing all the same characters was probably spoofing what Eddie Murphy does in The Nutty Professor. Has the same type of table scene with farting and stuff lol Speaking of movies where someone played a mentally challenged person really well is What's Eating Gilbert Grape. A young Johnny Depp and Leonardo DiCaprio. It's a really good movie.
"Hey I don't want to come off as weird or anything, but I might be your biggest fan. Tropic Thunder: kind of like my 'Catcher in the Rye'." - OMG, so many people miss this reference where 'The Catcher in the Rye' was the book that John Lennon's murderer David Chapman was caught with at the scene of the murder and citing it as his driving force to commit the murder. So, telling an author that their book is your 'Cather in the Rye' is a highly disturbing statement.
This is exciting
🔥🔥
The whole RDJ method acting scheme was on fucking point, and funny as fk. Even till this day, ppl wont cancel him (they tried, many times, he got the pass tho), because he did such a good job, haha. xD It was sooo over the top, that it is too good to be real haha! :p
Come on, girls. You didn't laugh to the best jokes from this movie? Why holding so much? Well you were saying "cancelled" the I can think you are like those who "cancel" things becasuse you think it is offence while not catching the real joke and satira
40:10 If you want to see a really frickin good show where the black person doesnt die and the white guys die 1st lol 😂 its "3 body problem" i noticed that about it 😂 but its a reaaaaaalllly good show... one of my favs now (on netflix)
Iron Man ❤ Spider-Man, doesn't he? 1:08
Haha 😆
Oh boy, this is a real contemporary classic. Hilarious! Not sure you could still make this today and get away with it 🤣 Great job as always!
Shush
@@jackdaniels4346 ???
😄👍🏾
If you “couldn’t make it today”, it wouldn’t be widely distributed today. It wouldn’t be popular today.
You could make this movie today because it works. The writing works and the jokes work. If someone could write an edgy comedy this well today, it could be made into a movie no problem.
Here’s the thing: Ben Stiller and the cast were willing to face the consequences if the jokes fell flat. They knew the risks. Same deal with Mel Brooks and Blazing Saddles. Political correctness is nothing new. There were offended folks back then when the movies were released. Do you think that there weren’t racial tensions in the 70s or the 2000s?
The tired old phrase, “you can’t make movies like that today” is the tired and weak excuse of unfunny comedians whose shock shtick is tired. Don’t repeat the cliches of hacks or people will think you’re simple.
@@MarcosElMalo2 put it better than me
Funny, how after so many years, some activists wanted to start sh*t and say the movie is racist because black face, making fun of mentally challenged people etc. Man, this is one of the funniest comedies that was made. I'm glad this movie exists.
I've watched so many reactions to this and every time Robert Downie Jr says, ain't no David Blaine trap door horseshit here.
I wonder why they changed that. Did he finally see the movie and got upset for his horseshit being exposed and used his connections to have this changed.
I wonder.
Or maybe they did a few different takes of this scene and different ones got put in the movie for different markets.
Edit.
I guess this is a different version because I've never seen the hot tea scene before.
You two seem super fun and chill!
Stay cool both of you!
Greetings from Norway! ✌️👊
Lance ...is Lance Bass, who was a member of the boyband NSYNC, who famously came out as gay.
I love how white saviors go on about this movie being racist, while real humans laugh. How lonely is a life of not enjoying humor and joining your neighbor?
I bought the DVD just to see if RDJ did the commentary. He did. It was funny.
The layers upon layers of satire in this film are insane. Everything was over the top: the violence, the blackface, the method acting, the R-word, the N-word, every level and layer just pushed to the extreme. The blackface in particular has garnered a lot of conflicting opinions. My opinion is that, in the context of this film, it is an extremely pointed satire OF blackface: that's the whole point of it. Using blackface to point out how ridiculous it is. In that sense I find it 100% justified. Then again, I'm not black, so maybe it hits differently for different people, and that's fair. Like Blazing Saddles, everyone has a different reaction to racism and depictions of racism, even when it is part of a satirical look at that very subject.

29:35 he’s playing pDiddy in this movie. 😂

Virtual hug! You're lame? No way! I can watch until the end because you two have some of the best personalities of anyone I have seen on youtube. It was great to watch you two react to this classic. Ben Stiller is one of the great comedy actors of our time...Robert Downey Jr. is one of the great action/quirky/funny actors of our time...and of course, Tom Cruise is, well, he's Tom Cruise. No more needs to be said about him. Everyone else was great, too!
Yes everyone was great 👍🏾 we enjoyed this one 💜💜

Fun fact, Simple Jack's mom is Ben Stiller's real-life wife
Ex-wife. They are sorta back together but still divorced.
JEFF was HERE hoorayyy 🎉🎉
Robert Was so accurate in this role that he got an Oscar nomination for this.
one of the funniest movies of all time
Spider man is minding his business lol

I didn't recognize Tom Cruise until the credit.
