I love Danny McBride. His best role is as Kenny Powers in the series Eastbound & Down. Another one of his early film roles is in the Andy Samberg led comedy, Hot Rod.
Funniest parts for me are basically most of RDJ's scenes. I seriously forget it's him so many times because he says things in a way that is very culturally in line with at least the way I grew up and the people I grew up around lol 1. The way he fakes out Tug by complimenting his physique only to snatch the map: "gimme that gotdamn map" 🤣 2. The way he goes "MFer did you say Lance?" when Alpa accidentally comes out of the closet 🤣🤣 3. The "you people" bit gets a chuckle out of me every time, but that's Alpa's perfect timing that makes that pop hahah
Ben Stiller came up with the idea for Tropic Thunder whilst he was filming the JG Ballard biopic ‘Empire of The Sun’ alongside a very young Christian Bale.
What would Tropic Thunder 2 be about? They wrapped up everything in the film. The drug guys coming after the actors? Tugg Speedman trying to make and direct the film, they were making in the first one? Speedman having to hide from rabid PETA members, for killing a panda? I would love to see these guys back together in a film like this one, but how would you pull off a sequel?
When the movie was released, all the fake trailers and ads were shown as if they were real, mixed up with actual movie trailers and ads as we would normally see in the theater before the movie started. A lot of people got really confused and that made it even more hilarious.
I only watched this once after it came out on home video, It was my wifes choice of movie for the evening and I was only half paying attention to it as I was doing some work from home. The first scene with the Les Grossman character was bugging the hell out of me because I couldn't figure out who the actor was. By his second or third scene I really had my nose in my work but just heard the voice and immediately looked up and said" OMG it his him!" My wife still hadn't picked up on the actor so I wrote it down on a peice of paper and she kept trying to figure it out through the end credits. She still didn't believe it was Tom Cruise when she saw his name in the credits and then went back to watch his scenes and by then, " now I know I can't unsee it."
He matches his character to the movie, so when he 'takes out' the brown contact and reveals the blue eyes he starts doing the Aussie accent until his name appears in the end credits when he switches to normal RDJ. One of the best movie commentaries.
The movie's riddled with "the funniest moment" but I definitely laugh out loud when I look at Robert Downey Jr's face when he follows up on the "I don't read the script, the script reads me" and rambles "Shut up with your books and scripts, script shit, spit that shit out man!" and completely breaks character. I squeal laugh at that shit!

Yeah, Justin Theroux and Ben Stiller were the ones who came up with the idea for this movie, and co-wrote it along with Etan Cohen. He also has a big role in Mulholland Drive.
There are so many "...what the WHAT????" moments in this film, it's hard to pick just one moment. BUT if I had to, it would be Steve Coogan stepping on the mine. I SO did not see that coming.... and from that point I knew there was no limit to what they would do. Tossing stabbing boy off the bridge like a shuriken might be a close second. I only own the theatrical cut, but even in your edit I saw so much stuff that was not in my copy, I think I may have to acquire a copy of the director's cut. Thanks for watching this. You reminded me how much I like this movie.
I first heard of "Tropic Thunder" from my mom, whom she wanted to see that movie on opening weekend back in 2008. Jump to 10 years later, by the time when I was 16, I began watching that movie with my mom and my stepdad and it had me laughing all the way through, no matter how controversial it was. Funniest parts for me are basically most of RDJ's scenes. I seriously forget it's him so many times because he says things in a way that is very culturally in line with at least the way I grew up and the people I grew up around lol
1. The way he fakes out Tug by complimenting his physique only to snatch the map: "gimme that gotdamn map" 🤣
2. The way he goes "MFer did you say Lance?" when Alpa accidentally comes out of the closet 🤣🤣
3. The "you people" bit gets a chuckle out of me every time, but that's Alpa's perfect timing that makes that pop hahah
Fun fact: the story of the explosion with no cameras recording is actually a true story, but from The good, the bad and the ugly.
I still crack up at the cowboy had with built in headphones lol
I think she missed the part where he flung the kid... because she didnt fall on the floor dieing of laughter.

I absolutely LOVE the sitcom entrance applause when the munchkins appear. Never stop that!!! 🤟😎
this movie never fails to make me laugh, regardless of how many times I watch it. One of the best satire movies ever
Ben Stiller came up with the idea for Tropic Thunder whilst he was filming the JG Ballard biopic ‘Empire of The Sun’ alongside a very young Christian Bale.
Fav part "What do you mean, you people?" ..."what do YOU mean, you people?!" Hahahahahahahaha
"Where ever he is, he is all over the place" always gets me
16:00 That is 100% accurate. RDJ did the whole director's commentary in character and did not break until the end credits
He matches his character to the movie, so when he 'takes out' the brown contact and reveals the blue eyes he starts doing the Aussie accent until his name appears in the end credits when he switches to normal RDJ. One of the best movie commentaries.
You definitely know it had the right cast at the right time
😊
The panda got the lovable surprised face like why u kill me 😢
RDJ also shines in Due Date and both Sherlock Holmes movies. The war film in the beginning was a parody of Platoon
Leaving the empty space and just staring for the studio audience laughtrack was so good.
This may be the best comedy ever made. There are a very few other over the top ridiculously funny movies that are in the same category for hilarity., but whenever I see anything from this movie it's hard to debate that it's not the best
I like when the director just explodes unexpectedly from stepping on the mine. Scared the crap out of me first time I saw it.
When your kid walked in 😂 I died laughing at the crowd applause and cheer lmfao
41:42 that's because in the original script he was captured by the guerrilla and stayed in the jungle. They revised the script with a nonsense conclusion for the character after the screen tests

And she is right about SAT phones - I had one in 2009, I was given it as I was in a very rural part of Afghanistan (Nuristan). You need open space above head.
Damn, you got that it was Tom Cruise right away, props!
Thankyou for actuals showing real movie footage, I'm tired of other channels muting everything
This is an uproariously funny film, despite its cringier elements. Hat tip to Tom Cruise for playing completely against type and totally killing it.
I agree it's awesome but i don't remember any "cringier" elements?
I remember it being "uproariously funny" the whole time!
@@USCFlash Me neither this movie is and was gold
If it doesn't make you cringe, it's not funny enough.
I don't remember any cringe elements.
Did anyone see the 1986 movie "Platoon "? The scenes where Ben Siller is running away and is getting shot about 16 times, is a spoof from that one.
Yeah, Justin Theroux and Ben Stiller were the ones who came up with the idea for this movie, and co-wrote it along with Etan Cohen. He also has a big role in Mulholland Drive.

Loved your reactions! Can I just say Mrs Movies has the most precious and infectious laugh 😂 and Tropic Thunder brought out so many of them
I'm going to start using that, "OH, whoa, wait, you've been talking to ME this whole time?"
Guys should definitely check out We’re The Millers, hilarious hidden jem I believe you guys would love!
We’ve seen that one. It’s pretty funny. Plus. That shower scene. 🚿
@@YouMeTheMovies YES! That shower scene, "Friends" missed out.
The shower scene was probably the only part of the movie that the theater was not laughing at all.
fun fact for you and mrs. movie danny wrote 2018 halloween 2020 halloween kills and 2022 halloween ends and he co-authored 2023 exorcist as well
This is such a great movie and RDJ steals the show plus I loved Tom Cruise’s scenes as well.
"You mo' shredded than a Julienne Salad". Probably funniest line in this movie! Too bad it didn't make your YT edit.
And the jokes (particularly RDJ wearing blackface) may not work today, if I'm not mistaken. But it's still my favorite movie of 2008.💯
Best line of the video was from the Mrs. The Bootysweat line was awesome 👏
Omg you guys!!!!! This is one of my favorite comedy films 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
May I suggest to all of you to search for the commentary there is a version here on YT
It’s so good they all are like a bunch of friends talking having a laugh and YES RDJ stays in character
Jack trying to plug the hole in the helmet instead of the guys head is a riot.
Not only is this one of the greatest war movies ever but it's also one of the greatest comedies ever
Hello, thanks for watching commenting and showing love 👆something special for you🎁
Bowfinger is another great spoof on Hollywood, and from Steve Martin's perspective too
I was watching one of your old videos and you both seem awkward about the camera looking at you 🥹😂
you’ve both come a long ways😘👍
I enjoy hanging out with you two
14:41 awww she's too adorable and cute 🤗 best part of the video for me.
They could make anything they want. But the studio system doesn't have the balls to take big risks anymore.
Well, balls ≠ $$$!
When Tom Cruise was approached for the role of Les Grossman he said he had two conditions; He wanted big hands and he wanted to dance 😂
I swear you guys must have a whole bunch of people behind the scenes to queue up your kids coming in just at the right moment every day.
If only we could have good comedic timing scripted out, but it's all her or her sister getting bored or feeling left out that she needs to peek in on us haha.
jack black screaming, "my ass!" was my favourite.
This movie gets funnier and funnier each time I see it. So many great moments.
