    It is truly amazing that we are given this gift - to enjoy magnificent works of great composers presented by outstanding, dedicated musicians on our computers, televisions, and iPads. No other generation had this gift. To experience this work of a genius through the talent of musicians in our homes - is truly a joy. In other eras, decades, and centuries, our ancestors - to see what we are experiencing here - would have required enormous expense and travel to the few concert halls available - and even then - only to the rich and privileged.

    Considering this performance occurred in 2008 I have to say the production quality is outstanding... great sound and video. What a gift we're given here... thanks for sharing this. As an American I'm blown away by the gorgeous concert halls and amazing orchestras from all over Europe I'm introduced to on RUclips. Clearly governments in Europe are willing to contribute to support of these institutions. Deep respect.

    Frau Höhenrieder spielt stets mit Präzision, Wärme, Geist und Herzblut. Ich liebe es, ihre Interpretationen von Musik zu verkörpern. Maestro Luisi ist jedes Mal eine treibende Kraft, wenn er die Essenz eines Symphonieorchesters erfasst. Und diese hervorragenden Beispiele herausragender deutscher Dresdner Musiker sind wunderschön begabt. Außerdem ist der erste Fagottist ein ziemlich schlauer Kerl.

    • @gunterangel
      @gunterangel Год назад

      Agreed, but actually Beethoven wasn't very fond of such overlong cadenzas like this one, which transforms the cadenza into a sort of "a concerto within a concerto".
      That was also the main reason, that he would fix the cadenzas in his last finished piano concerto, the Empereur concerto.

      Similarities Between Mozart And Beethoven
      Like Mozart Beethoven was a brilliant piano performer with improvisational skills that dazzled his patrons and his audience. As such, Beethoven created a significant body of work for the piano just as Mozart had done before. At the heart of both composers' catalogue of work for the piano are both Sonatas and Concertos. 21:00

      Playing Beethoven’s Piano Sonatas Changed How I Hear Them
      Hans von Bülow, the first to play all 32 in a series of recitals, likened Bach's “Well-Tempered Clavier” to the Old Testament and Beethoven's sonatas to the New. 18:40

    It's a pleasure to see this somewhat underrated concerto get the luxury treatment - solid, fearless soloist, supportive accompaniment, lovely video engineering (yes, that counts). Interpretatively, I noted the rather brisk finale - nothing wrong with that, but if I were studying this concerto, I'd have to go slower. To those who think it's amazing that Beethoven's first concerto is so polished and confident, well, it's not really his first-written, but his second-written. No. 2 in B-flat is earlier, but No. 1 in C was published first, perhaps on purpose. I simply cannot imagine being so productive a composer that I'd have decide what to put into print and what to hold in reserve!

    • @wordsworks7084

      This is the original cadenza!

    • @gunterangel
      @gunterangel Год назад

      Same here !
      Her interpretion and technique are marvelous for sure, but this cadenza of hers is really a bit overlong imho.
      And by this she did clearly something, that Beethoven reportedly was very annoyed about: the overexpanding of a cadenza in one of his concertos by other pianists.
      That annoyance of him about such
      "monster-cadenzas" ( " making a cadenza a concerto within a concerto") was also the main reason for him to fix his own cadenzas in his last piano concerto, the Empereur-concerto.
      And if he had written more piano concertos, he arguably would continued to do so .
