From my point of view, Tchaikovsky's music speaks more than other classical music with a deep soul of being. A lot of people are wrong when they say it's aristocratic music; on the contrary, it is meta-human music of the connection of multiple and disparate beings and existences.

While that book did not deserve the title at all, this masterpiece by Tchaikovsky is perfectly described by that phrase.

I really enjoyed this performance. Wonderful sounding orchestra and steady, precise conducting from Maestro Janowski. Really passionate without being saccharine. I especially noticed how "together" the orchestra is in its attacks and dramatic outpourings. I especially appreciated the tam-tam player in the last movement, who made his single stroke count and didn't minimize it or cut it off but let it continue to reverberate into space as it expanded along with the orchestra.

This is "Symphony No.6 in B minor"
    rather than "Pathetique Symphony".
I am not disappointed to this performance.
Besides I do not disparage this performance.
When I listened to this music,
I might have an excessive preconception
because of a title to " Pathetique" .
This is slightly different that I expected.
    However, nevertheless,
I listen to this performance repeatedly.
    Once again, again, once again….
Now I enjoy this performance heartily.
    Bravo!
I send gland applause for this splendid performance.

Just saw this performed in Boston. Sadly, the crowd (or much of it) erupted into applause after the third movement. Understandable, given its power, but a rare faux pas for a Boston audience, in my experience. But nothing could diminish the brilliance of the performance and the conductor and orchestra were given a lengthy standing ovation at the conclusion.
