There is no soul in Argerich's music any more. After so many years of performing, she sits down at the piano as if it were a milling machine. Young pianists experience their performances much more. And she... as if she were to make another sleeve or a cogwheel...

As great as Марта А́ргерих and my respect for her are... once I've had a privilege to watch Ivo Pogorelić perform the same piece (back when he was in his prime, before his wife died and he developed some type of arthritis) - that was a whole different level of Tchaikovsky Concerto no.1 in B-mol... (the same for goes for his Chopin, for that matter), and I don't expect to see or hear anyone play it better (if Marta's fingers flutter like hummingbird wings, Ivo's fluttered like wings of two hummingbirds, attacked like a hawk and glided like a falcon... and I've ran out of bird analogies). However, as they say, _de gustibus non est disputandum_ and if you prefer А́ргерих, I respect that too.

@@zodziejksiazek1831 Well, though most are, not *every* concert is performed without any notes (and as concertos go, this is a relatively short one, under 45 minutes) - have you ever seen a pro page turner, standing near to even famous pianists (or other soloist, like violinist or cellist) and turning the pages of sheet music (notes) of the piece being performed? Those lads or lassies have to know the partitura by heart, and be ready to turn the page at precisely the right moment for maestro who is playing. Perhaps you just haven't been to enough concerts yet 🤷🏻‍♀... judging by your vocabulary - you're lucky, there's still time.

Tchaikovsky was one of the most famous Russian composers. His music had great appeal for the general public by virtue of its tuneful open-hearted melodies, impressive harmonies, and colourful, picturesque orchestration, all of which evoke a profound emotional response.
Tchaikovsky’s music is immensely popular and has made its way out of the concert hall and into your television sets, movie theaters and even video games.
Though Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake tanked on its initial run in 1877, it eventually obtained artistic immortality, thanks in part to the many pop-culture homages to the ballet that followed over the years. 20:02 [Britannica; CSO Org; WQXR]

My passion for classical music began with this piece when I was eleven in a totally new city, Istanbul, away from home. PASSION, this is, which came into my life so unexpectedly that made me welcome my way ahead only if it brought to my life passion of various tones, colors, ie. e pluribus unum, Totally transcendental body travelling, inebriate of music. I believe, thanks to Tschikovsky, then Rachmaninov, then Chopin, Mozart and Beethoven...I turned into a man of emotions, instinct or intuition on the road to finding my own truth to be one with other truths with love. I was never alone on that peak of joy, that awe-ridden reverence.

In conclusion, I didn't like this new version of the famed Tchaikovsky piano concerto by Mrs. Argerich and Mr. Dutoit , let along this orchestra. The previous interpretation years ago of the same concerto by Mrs Argerich and Mr. Dutoit, and a more seasoned orquestra like the Montreal Symphony, is much more superior than this one.
