Beginners would be advised to start with the lighter ropes. I have a 2 kilo rope which I hardly ever use and then in only short bursts since e they'll wear you out. While learning the heavy ropes are harder to control properly and can lead to injury in less experience hands.
What timing. I just pulled my rope out the other day to add to my daily burpee regiment. Mine is 20+ years old and I was thinking about replacing it before it goes boom on me. I'll check them out!
