- Huntly & District Pipe Band parade along Gordon Street, Huntly, from the Market Muir to the town Square, led by Drum Major Derek Dean.
This was in celebration of their 70th anniversary and ex-bandsmen had been invited to participate or follow the parade, along with guests including Drum Major Roland Stuart. Walking in front with the trophy is the 2018 World Junior Highland Dancing champion, Michelle Gordon from Huntly. The tunes include "The Green Hills of Tyrol", 'A Scottish Soldier" and 'When the Battles O'er".
Huntly and District Pipe Band is a recreational band based in the market town of Huntly, Scotland. They were formed in 1948 by Gordon Highlanders returning home from service in WWII, and the Gordon tartan is synonymous with the Huntly and District Pipe Band, having been devised by Forsythes of Huntly.
The band is a big part of their local community, sponsored by the famous Shortbread baker Dean's of Huntly. For details of this great band please see their website: www.huntlypipeband.co.uk/

Okay. That's done it. A tear is welling up. Huntly. My Great Great Grandparents came from there to Australia. The Green Hills of Tyrol/A Scottish Soldier, my fathers favorite piece/song. The Battles o'er. My own favorite Piece/song. All I need now is to see Andy Stewart singing these 2 and I would be blubbering all over the place. Many thanks to you for this wonderful upload. Alex

Wonderful again. Enjoying watching the drum majors showing their staff twirling skills. After seeing the Jim Ramsay video of 3 Scots I can now recognise you haha. How you film by being mostly in front of the drum majors marching in front of the bands is superb.
Thanks Train Lord and I seem to be appearing, briefly, in others now. I'm trying to find the compromise between traditional TV style and quality, with lots of angles and editing, and the freedom and speed of modern media that reacts really quickly to events. We'll keep developing and over the next year add more equipment and production quality, so I hope we can bring you a lot more in future. Best wishes, Dale.

Hi Gordon. Maybe. But one of the great things about these videos is the sense of community at these events. Having such a Bonnie lassie from the community at the front carrying the cup...Well, if I were her Father or Grandfather, my chest would be bursting with pride. So for me, I'll cut her some slack on that. Cheers Alex
She has little choice. She can't march a 30 inch stride in dancing pumps (she shouldn't have to walk that far on tarmac in them. So she has to take a quicker, shorter step to keep her place.
She's probably worried about getting hit in the head by a wayward mace.
Marching in step isn't a required skill for a Champion dancer... I'm very happy to overlook such a minor thing and delighted to see such a wonderful show as shared here.
