The parts are drum & bugle corps arrangement techniques from the 1960s and 70s. Fife and drum also does similar. Great stuff. Drummers selling the art to the masses.
Seven young talented drummers who knew each other from the Basler Fasnacht and jointly cultivated the traditional Basel drumming, founded the group Top Secret in 1991. They wanted to play more than just carnival drum marches and began to mix the traditional Basel drumming style with other drum types as well as adding visual effects. This unique idea and the passion of the seven drummers quickly lead to national and international success. Top Secret received an invitation to perform in the 2003 Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo in Scotland. In order to participate in Edinburgh, new drummers had to be recruited and trained to enlarge the group so that they could develop a marching show for the first time. Since 2003 the drum corps went on to travel the world, from Russia to Canada, Australia to the Unites States, from South Africa to China and all over Europe. There have also been further performances at the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo in 2006, 2009, 2012 ,2015 and 2018. Their exciting performances are well known for their precision, humour and thrilling tempo. With twenty-plus years of passion, imagination and dedication, these top Basel drummers have proven themselves to be a sustainable world-class act.

This performance was so iconic but still one of the best memorable performances ever in any way .. both are phenomenon and that's why these guys are totally outstanding. 🎶🤗
For some people who don't know: music is a military specialty. You can spend your whole military career in music. You have to audition to get in after basic training, then after that, you practice and practice and practice, like everybody else. You get promoted up in rank and do the same things as regular military.
In the UK, military musicians do basic military training and are then assigned to bands. In theatre, they don't fight, but if they were ever called on they would be medics, ambulance drivers, stretcher bearers etc.
With Basel Tattoo, these guys are chosen as talented in grade school-junior high. I know two of them personally, one since he was 2.5 yrs old. It's difficult. It's part of life.
You do realize Top Secret (the guys in black with a feather in the cap) isn't a military band. Right? They are normal citizens that go to work everyday from 9-5. They were one of the first non-military, non-British Commonwealth acts to perform at Edinburgh Castle. They are from Basel Switzerland and Baslers can be flippin fantastic at playing the drums. Some people start playing around with drums at 3 or 4. Fasnacht (Mardi Gras) is something a lot of Basler is proud to be part of. They say Fasnacht is the 3 most wonderful days of the year. Mind you they still say this if it's snowing, raining, and/or cold. To be part of Fasnacht you play the drums or you play the piccolo. Kids can take part in the Fasnacht celebration.
My 9 year old is a dummer and her rhythm is spectacular. She can also sing while doing so which I think is crazy incredible. I hope to see her doing something like this someday! ❤

@@TopDrumCorps what is your problem, man, nobody said it was the best drumline on the planet. So why are you so negative on an excellent performance? What ever your motives....
@@erics.1149 what are you talking about.. all I see are top secret videos titles “BEST DRUMLINE ON THE PLANET” and al I see are comments saying the same thing😂 no need to backtrack when you’re wrong
They are amazing! True professionals! They put in a lot of hard work in this.
The drummers from HM Royal Marines are professional musicians and are attached to the Royal Marines bands; they are also all buglers (notice the bugle carried on the right hip); the Swiss Top Secret Drums Corps are amateurs who have day jobs. Two very different groups of people, two very different styles of drumming, but brilliant together as well as separately.
Mega geil!!🎉leider sind die Pauker im Hintergrund!
So synchron, so einheitlich, so unfassbar, mega!
Schade, natürlich, das es bei der ganzen Professionalität kein Lächeln gibt! Was man natürlich verstehen kann!
Einfach Mega!
Ich wünschte ich könnte mal live dabei sein!
Einfach mega professionell!
Mega
Watching from the U.S., outstanding performance.
Marching from HEAVEN'S GATE to the Mouth of HELL Itself and Back, with Full Confidence of Success!
I'd expect nothing less than the Perfection we've seen on display right here!!
So precise & beautiful! Swiss are "timeless", like their watches! But I'm Scottish & love the drums & bagpipes. Love these beautiful players!
The talent is out of this world. I've never seen anything like this. Amazing
Their shows definitely have humour and flair!
and with that it has lead to them being involved in part of the music for Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning part 1. i love how successful they are making themselves.
This makes my soul SING! I can't stop repeating it! There aren't even words for me to express what this does to me! AMAZING! Thank you!!!
I will NEVER tire of watching this brilliance.
Absolutely Awesome !
I wasn crying, it was just that my eyes were leaking......
Thank Youse LOTS
Seeing those two magnificent teams playing together brought tears to my eyes. So wonderful. Thank you so much fir posting... Brian Pipe band drummer for 50 years.
Wonderful to See, I’m just Speechless on this Display of Drums
Superb... mind-blowing...the synchrony is just out of this world. Nice to see the flag girls/guys in the back. Brought back memories ☺️🥁🥁🥁🔥🔥🔥
Note: The TSDC are composed of volunteers of their own merit, their own time, and expense. What was interesting to me was the Swiss we’re using possibly Dynasty equipment, but what did the RM use? Are those Dunnett custom? Those balls on the end of the tension bolts must be monsters to work around. I personally love Scott Highlanders and the First Continentals of the US Army. All in all….wonderful work!
These guys are fantastic. I love watching them and stand in awe of there amazing abilities
What a stunning collaboration! Boy did the audience enjoy that!
Wishful thinking dude, you lack of prove having achieved this high-end level ... go practice and come back in 100 years. 😣
In voluntary firefighting as well. At least in Europe.
Notice how they have different heights but their drums are aligned perfectly... spot on
Explains why they’re sound quality is poopy
@@TopDrumCorps let me guess,a yank?
@@Anglo_Saxon1 huh
@@Anglo_Saxon1 Ignore Frank. He is a troll, he disses every European drumline, sometimes a hundred comments per video. We Americans with some actual knowledge of music think this video is stellar. Top Secret is magnificent, and peaking the RUclips charts right now. Frank is all over that, too.
In a world where military is a Sacred type of work, I will always be grateful to hear this music and the drums. On top of knowledge how to fight for your country, save those who are in trouble and care for those who struggle, there is still that grace of being able to develop leadership in play, too.
I’m not sure what feeling I possess after watching this amazing performance between the units. Surely speaking for most by saying I love it!! 🇺🇸. Bless you all
Oh what memories! My daughter was in her high school band n she got the chance to play the drums.
How happy she was n honored I was. Since then we love anything with drums. This was awesome!
I shared this with her n she was happy to have received n view it. Thanks for such professionalism !!!!!
I was lucky enough to see them at the Edinburgh Military Tattoo....truly memories to last a life time!
This is true commitment, passion, discipline, love, talent, an understanding of hard work and a willingness to put in the time - and team work.
What they achieve gives me goosebumps. Truly amazing.
Every single person's hard work ... contributes to the amazing.
Can we maybe take away some message in this ...
For anyone who doesnt know, ANY country's ceremonial unit to unite with a college or high-school unit to produce this video is a HUGE compliment to the school on this production. Everyone can talk a big game on the choreography but theyre missing the point. The British Drum Corps has been a known elite unit. To recognize a non-military unit is a huge compliment.
A video that always gets me through the tough times
Same here 🙏💯🎶❤️
Fantastic! just can't get enough of this, spent 6 years in a marching band....so love it
Fabulous! As a proud English man, who loves the TSDC couldn’t me more proud!
Wow, absolutely fantastic, don’t care who won, would have loved to be there in person.
Das Können und diese Disziplin...tausendmal Chapeau....❤❤
An amazing performance to behold.
TOTALLY AMAZING COORDINATED SYNCHRONIZED PERFECTION. NONE BETTER!
Man…I just can’t stop watching these fellas! So good!
One of the best performances i've seen in my entire life. Superb, Magnificent, Perfection.
Totally in awe!!! Feathered hats and drumsticks!!! Would love to experience this in person! I have experienced Kodo drums performance. Felt it in my chest. Almost religious!
Brilliant 🎶🎶🎶🎶
Amazing synchronization, amazing design, very hard work, good interpretation!
Enjoyed these legends at Edinburgh Castle ... the World is a much better place with them in it.
Saw them opening night in 2015. Incredible. Worth the flight from Canada.
If this is not disabling I don't know what is .fantastic so uplifting amazing for the soul thank youxxx
I could think of a better description than 'disabling'but each to their own I suppose.
“Disabling”????
