Spectacular! Many years ago, I was in a D&B Corps here in the States, and became exposed to precision drum line routines, especially as you moved up into the big DCI Championship competitions. And all while performing amazingly intricate show marching. But musically, nothing came close to this routine - the incredible drumming combined with mesmerizing visuals - very high level skills here. Nice work boys (and maybe girls too, just didn't spot any) - goosebumps all around!

Spent 23 yrs in the Pipes & Drums, done many a tattoo in Edinburgh, as well as a fantastic 2 month tour with the Band of the Royal Marines on a CAMI tour in North America. 2 fantastic drum corps, and was a pleasure spending that time with the Royal Marines Band and Drum Corps, great time and a pleasure. Made some lifelong friends, and some brilliant memories! Awesome!!! To one and all from that tour, SLAINTE MHATH!!! 🥃🥃
Seeing those two magnificent teams playing together brought tears to my eyes. So wonderful. Thank you so much fir posting... Brian Pipe band drummer for 50 years.
You learn the different patterns (paradiddles) and how long each one lasts and then create a smallish collection of paradiddles. Still not easy though.
This performance was so iconic but still one of the best memorable performances ever in any way .. both are phenomenon and that's why these guys are totally outstanding. 🎶🤗
In a world where military is a Sacred type of work, I will always be grateful to hear this music and the drums. On top of knowledge how to fight for your country, save those who are in trouble and care for those who struggle, there is still that grace of being able to develop leadership in play, too.
I used to do JROTC in Highschool and I was in charge of our schools drill and color guard teams (kinda similar to this, just more M1 garands and flags than drums) and every year we’d try and put together a big performance with another schools JROTC team from the area and I have to say trying to coordinate something like this, with a set deadline, constrained space to operate in, different methods of teaching and operating, it is beyond difficult. Now I was working with 15-17 year olds with little support and I’m sure these guys have much more logistical support and funding behind them but even with all that this is still a spectacle of precision. Utterly amazing.
Seven young talented drummers who knew each other from the Basler Fasnacht and jointly cultivated the traditional Basel drumming, founded the group Top Secret in 1991. They wanted to play more than just carnival drum marches and began to mix the traditional Basel drumming style with other drum types as well as adding visual effects. This unique idea and the passion of the seven drummers quickly lead to national and international success. Top Secret received an invitation to perform in the 2003 Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo in Scotland. In order to participate in Edinburgh, new drummers had to be recruited and trained to enlarge the group so that they could develop a marching show for the first time. Since 2003 the drum corps went on to travel the world, from Russia to Canada, Australia to the Unites States, from South Africa to China and all over Europe. There have also been further performances at the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo in 2006, 2009, 2012 ,2015 and 2018. Their exciting performances are well known for their precision, humour and thrilling tempo. With twenty-plus years of passion, imagination and dedication, these top Basel drummers have proven themselves to be a sustainable world-class act.
and with that it has lead to them being involved in part of the music for Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning part 1. i love how successful they are making themselves.
I’m not sure what feeling I possess after watching this amazing performance between the units. Surely speaking for most by saying I love it!! 🇺🇸. Bless you all
Back in the mid-late ‘70’s, one of the best highlights of the summer was attending a Drum & Bugle competition which was held on the football field of Monument Mountain High School in Great Barrington, MA. This performance brought back some incredible memories. Much respect to all. ❤️

Even if you didn't like the drum or a drum line like this you have to be blown away by individuals like this that can come together and show the absolute mastery of their craft. And add in that these two drum lines generally play completely different styles makes it even more impressive that they can come together and play each other's style like they all play together every day. I hope that each and every member of these teams are extremely proud of the level of skill that they have. How this didn't get a standing ovation i'll never know but i can tell you if this performance had been here in the US everyone would have been on their feet cheering for them and the roar of the crowd could have been hear far and wide because as we Americans say.........they knocked it out of the park with that routine. I know they practice countless hours or days to put together a performance like this with the two corps merged, but it still freaks me out every time to see this sort of thing happen: I keep imagining that just one guy slipping up will screw up the rest. The Top Secret Drum Corps, best drum corps ever ... i live in Basel, Switzerland, home of the corps as well, i saw them a couple a times on international Corps meetings and as I mentioned, the very best show ever.
Notice how the Marines on the ends are still trained to hit the drum beside them, even when there is no drum. This way they can put them in any order of the line, or remove any one person from the line, and still end with a flawless performance. Gotta love some lateral thinking.
I am American-turned-Swiss by marriage, nearly 30 years ago. I lived in CH for 16 years. I experienced Basel Tattoo (Top Secret) and they literally blew the USA Corps and every other state group and country right out of the water, and still do. I have been to watch many practice sessions where the USA has to literally practice alongside CH in order to get their tight patterns down pat, play on each other's drums with the kind of accuracy CH has, and it takes time for the most professional of USA drummers. But they did do it here, yes! But not as tight when combined. The Swiss do stay in a bandwidth all their own. Hey, it was extraordinary, but the hats off to CH (Confederation Helvetia, for Switzerland) as usual. Top Secret are bad-ass! Deservedly.

Whata a simply wonderful time to be alive and to witness mastery in all its glory. Well done to you both, my heart is warmer and the world is richer for your sound of absolute rhythm and acracy. Thank you
Just goes to show, a well disciplined team can perform amazing things! I love the fact you can clearly hear the difference between the RM drums and those of Top Secret. Brilliant work guys!
What. The. Fuck are you smoking
How in the name of God can you stay sitting and not give that a standing ovation. That was incredible
Easy man
That's a real shame! What an amazing performance.

Well, it would look kind of weird if we stood up in front of our computers and clapped and would also freak out our owners if they see their pet cat clapping.
I stayed in my bed lying down.
I was there, it was amazing and the next day I met several members of Top secret at the RAF Museum Hendon. That whole concert was something I'll never forget.
THE DISCIPLINE IT TAKES TO ALL BE IN SYNC IS INCREDIBLE. BRAVO. STANDING OVATION.
Oh what memories! My daughter was in her high school band n she got the chance to play the drums.
How happy she was n honored I was. Since then we love anything with drums. This was awesome!
I shared this with her n she was happy to have received n view it. Thanks for such professionalism !!!!!
Bravo gentleman❣ I had goosebumps when the crowd stood and roared with applause and awe. I would have been one of them. How I would love to see and hear their amazing show in person! Well done 😊👏
For anyone who doesnt know, ANY country's ceremonial unit to unite with a college or high-school unit to produce this video is a HUGE compliment to the school on this production. Everyone can talk a big game on the choreography but theyre missing the point. The British Drum Corps has been a known elite unit. To recognize a non-military unit is a huge compliment.
Who won? The audience & we on RUclips. Thanks for posting this.
This makes my soul SING! I can't stop repeating it! There aren't even words for me to express what this does to me! AMAZING! Thank you!!!
FRIGGEN AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The amount of talent that runs through these kids is unfathomable!!!!!!
ive saw both secret drum corp and royal marines live(separately) but this is on a completely diffrent level. Very talented individuals combined to make one hell of a show.
This is true commitment, passion, discipline, love, talent, an understanding of hard work and a willingness to put in the time - and team work.
What they achieve gives me goosebumps. Truly amazing.
Every single person's hard work ... contributes to the amazing.
Can we maybe take away some message in this ...
I was lucky enough to be at this performance. What a treat when the two best drum lines combined-different style of each band matched perfectly by the other!!

The precision, the musicality, the theatricality, the Uniforms - WOW! Fantastic.
The real magic is the lads actually remembering the entire drum line. I am in complete awe.
When I did it we had to go all summer to learn every beat-step before fieldshow comp. Loves it
You learn the different patterns (paradiddles) and how long each one lasts and then create a smallish collection of paradiddles. Still not easy though.
Many thousand hours of practice on the stage here. Perfect, breathtaking! Thanks!!!
This performance was so iconic but still one of the best memorable performances ever in any way .. both are phenomenon and that's why these guys are totally outstanding. 🎶🤗
I keep watching this over and over its brilliant brilliant, just brilliant !! ..... More...
In a world where military is a Sacred type of work, I will always be grateful to hear this music and the drums. On top of knowledge how to fight for your country, save those who are in trouble and care for those who struggle, there is still that grace of being able to develop leadership in play, too.
The visuals are off the charts. Absolutely mesmerizing.
Royal Marines, this video has been put on my "Original Songs & Musicians Worldwide" playlist. Fantastic!

We’re can you get this at the drum line
Their shows definitely have humour and flair!
and with that it has lead to them being involved in part of the music for Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning part 1. i love how successful they are making themselves.
I’m not sure what feeling I possess after watching this amazing performance between the units. Surely speaking for most by saying I love it!! 🇺🇸. Bless you all
I just never ever get amazed at this performance..... Absolutely Fantastic!
Think need to read between the lines…but l get it..perfect composition not needed..
same , amazed to
Back in the mid-late ‘70’s, one of the best highlights of the summer was attending a Drum & Bugle competition which was held on the football field of Monument Mountain High School in Great Barrington, MA. This performance brought back some incredible memories. Much respect to all. ❤️
The drumming is out of this world. Faith and music will ride through

The joining together of the parts was a superb touch.
Excellent job gentlemen.
With these kind of band will lighten and inspire soldiers in their day to day duties.God bless them all.
I know they practice countless hours or days to put together a performance like this with the two corps merged, but it still freaks me out every time to see this sort of thing happen: I keep imagining that just one guy slipping up will screw up the rest. The utter concentration they muster to play so precisely is truly amazing.
Long lasting hours of practice, day after day, months and may be years. Outstanding.
These guys are fantastic. I love watching them and stand in awe of there amazing abilities
Beste Drum Performance ever. Da gibt es auf jeden Fall keine Verlierer, nur Gewinner. Großartig ......👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🇦🇹
I loved the years I spent in my Drum Corps. I learned disipline and how to read music and turn the music in my head into some awesome routines. We traveled the world and met some other awesome Corps. Also went to universities and had sessions with other percussion groups. A lifetime of knowledge from these people.
My father was a drummer and a damn good one, but getting all of these very good drummers all together is awesome.
The talent is out of this world. I've never seen anything like this. Amazing
The parts are drum & bugle corps arrangement techniques from the 1960s and 70s. Fife and drum also does similar. Great stuff. Drummers selling the art to the masses.
What precision, talent and just plain hard working practices!!! Way to go men! Thank you for giving the world a few minutes of forgetting it’s problems!!!!

I love it! ❤
I TOTALLY LOVE THE PRECISION AND PRCATICE THESE FOLKS PUT INTO THIS SHOW!

best part about top secret is that they all have day jobs too.

I'd expect nothing less than the Perfection we've seen on display right here!!
My 9 year old is a dummer and her rhythm is spectacular. She can also sing while doing so which I think is crazy incredible. I hope to see her doing something like this someday! ❤
They are amazing! True professionals! They put in a lot of hard work in this.
The drummers from HM Royal Marines are professional musicians and are attached to the Royal Marines bands; they are also all buglers (notice the bugle carried on the right hip); the Swiss Top Secret Drums Corps are amateurs who have day jobs. Two very different groups of people, two very different styles of drumming, but brilliant together as well as separately.
Really Great Performance from both bands! Being from the same city as Top Secret, it is unbelievable that they do actually have normal day jobs and that's what makes them so special, to achieve such precision....and that the normal Fastnacht Clubs do not really recognize them

Thanks to all of you for giving me thrills and tears. You are simply AMAZING !
As a drummer, I always come back to drum corps for inspiration. It's where it all started. Amazing video!!
Note: The TSDC are composed of volunteers of their own merit, their own time, and expense. What was interesting to me was the Swiss we’re using possibly Dynasty equipment, but what did the RM use? Are those Dunnett custom? Those balls on the end of the tension bolts must be monsters to work around. I personally love Scott Highlanders and the First Continentals of the US Army. All in all….wonderful work!
One of the best performances i've seen in my entire life. Superb, Magnificent, Perfection.
They are crazy GOOD, each one matching the other identical like a mirror. That’s HARD WORK, TIME and dedication

Gotta love some lateral thinking.
was there a winner? Both displayed outstanding skill and for them to seamlessly play together, that was unreal.
The winner was...the audience :-)

Deservedly.
