This is probably the sickest drumline performances I have ever seen. This is coming from someone with a traditional style drumline background. AMAZING!!!
Top Secret are from Basel, and Basel has a very long tradition of drumming. I have no idea how many drummers the city has, but if you look at some videos of the Basel carnival (Basler Fasnacht), you will see that there are a lot of them. Actually in the Top Secret drumming school, kids concentrate on learning traditional Basel drumming before moving on to show drumming when they get older.
I will travel to Basel just to see these guys perform. From Phoenix, Az., USA even. Please start doing shows again. You guys are unbelievable! I went to Switzerland several times when I was in the military during a tour in the Army back in the 80's and let me tell you, the Swiss people are the BEST! So accommodating and what a beautiful country! Can't say enough about them.

The competitions used to be carried in the US on public broadcasting and I loved to watch it each year. Now they don't do it any longer. I surely miss it and will check it out on YT. What a great performance. Thanks for sharing.

I think the most amazing thing about the performance is the Battle Scene. They are playing, what is it? Rolls and rim shots? It takes a lot of time and effort to be able to do a roll that sounds clear with one hand and rim shots while you're swinging your sticks around like you're fighting for dear life. I've tried it and it isn't really easy, especially when you're running around with a huge drum around your torso. The part after that, where they pass the sticks, is also extremely impressive. It takes accuracy to even throw the thing in the right place, much less catch it and play in a split second and do tricks to control it. In my opinion, more people should see this than only 900,000. This takes a lot of integrity, determination, and confidence to do what these percussionists did at this performance.
I have also seen some performances where they dance around while drumming. Some with flaming drumsticks and some where one drumstick is also a flute. I still don't get enough of watching these young men. They have regular jobs so are not able to practice as much as most people think they do. They start at a very young age at this drummer school where they live and work their way up to this professional level. Most of the people in their town are drummers. Think about that.

Habe Top Secret Drums gestern das erstemal gesehen in der ARD im Musikantenstadl. Bin Hin und Weg, die sind der Hammer, einfach Superklasse
