- Entry of the honorary formation with the Yorck'sches Marsch (March of the Yorck'schen Korps, Ludwig van Beethoven) and Prussia's Gloria (Johann Gottfried Piefke) to the military honours for the President of the Hellenic Republic (Greece), Katerina Sakellaropoulou, and Pavlos Kotsonis ( partner of Katerina Sakellaropoulou) with Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier in Bellevue Palace in Berlin. The honor battalion is provided by the 3rd company (army) of the guard battalion. It is played by the staff band led by Captain Kolodziej.

I am an American army veteran . I am of German Norwegian ancestry. I was lucky enough to get stationed in Germany and conducted training with Germany troops.Bunch of good soldiers and had a good time joking around. Great marching music.

As a Canadian I've marched to the British Grenadiers, and the Maple Leaf Forever.
But damn. Can you imagine marching to the march of armies that used to the be the most feared on earth? For a hundred years and more, Prussia might not have had the largest army, but it sure was the most feared. That would be something to be proud to march for for sure.
And Germany lost two world wars without wasting this image. Prussia means: beeing social, beeing flexible, beeing innovative, beeing efficient in earning great effects by using less material.

Well done chaps. Very smart and the band and drums sounded great. Used to play the Yorck'schen march when I was in Germany with the band of The Green Howards, a Yorkshire regiment! Yeah I know, a bit of a tenuous link but just wanted to get it in. 😃

Bin selbst in meiner Millitärzeit ein Schellenbaumträger gewesen. Das ist der, der ganz vorn links gelaufen ist mit dem "Baum" im Halfter. Da kommen Erinnerungen hoch. Hab so etwas mindestens 3 Mal die Woche gemacht bei allen möglichen Militär Veranstaltungen.
Der Baum muss bestimmt schwer werden mit der Zeit
@@DerAbenteurer94 Ja durch den Halfter gehts. Aber bei Wind ist das nicht lustig 😅 Die Fahne wirkt dann wie ein Segel und man muss doll gegen halten. Sonst eiert man schnell hin und her und läuft nicht mehr gerade. was ziemlich doof ist weil man mit dem chef vorn die Breite für den Musikzug dahinter vor gibt. Und beim „Rührt Euch“ Darf man ihn auch raus nehmen und absetzen.

Preußens Gloria [Piefke], Yorkscher Marsch [Beethoven], Alte Kameraden [Teike].. das hat einfach was.
Geboren 1952 in Munster, dem immer noch größten Standort (seit 1893) des Heeres, 1956 direkt am Kaserenzaun gewohnt, von 1972 bis 1984 Panzermann bei der 2./Panzer(Lehr)Bataillon gewesen, an x Veranstaltungen Großer Zapfenstreich/Gelöbnissen/Vereidigungen teilgenommen.
Im Ort gab es 3 Schützenvereine mit Musikkorps.
Jetzt lebe ich beschaulich in Norderstedt, oberhalb an HH und vermisse das.
Aber das Video ist von 2019 also und mal wieder Kopiert ^^
Muss schön gewesen sein 2023 dabei gewesen und 2019 dabei gewesen sein zu sein xD

Erinnert mich an meine Zeit bei der Bundeswehr. 1San/7 von 04.88. - 06.89, öffentliches Gelöbni. Stellvertretend für alle Soldaten meiner Grundausbildung haben drei Kameraden und ich die Treue zur Demokratie und der Bundesrepublik Deutschland geschworen. Und dazu stehe ich noch heute!

Sind alles Soldaten vom Wachbataillon, alle vom Heer. Die haben nur halt alle Uniformen von Heer, Marine und luftwaffe im Spind. Mein Bruder war in dem Bataillon, daher weiß ich das.
Die sind alle vom Wachbataillon. Die Soldaten verfügen über alle 3 Uniformen. Jeder ist mal Heeres-, Luftwaffen- oder Marinesoldat.

The USA is better a cadence, those drill instructors and their songs. We don't do that in the EU. That's your tradition be proud. Marching in the way of the video is typically old world

As a British military historian I was visiting a display of WW1 memorabilia at the Imperial War Museum in London many years ago and as I entered the room this started playing; damned if I didn't start 'marching' in step ! It is a wonderful march.

This band is far better than the Massachusetts State Police's band because they always just play bag pipes and drums all of the time. This band plays all kinds of musical instruments, such as, trumpets, tubas and symbols along with all kinds of drums. This German band is a real cool band to me.
This band is a national military band versus a state police band. It's not a very fair comparison to suggest that one is 'better' than the other. Besides the two organization's vastly-different pools of available talent (the German military has more people to draw from than the MA State Police), the instruments are heavily influenced by different traditions as well.
@@SpartacusColo! It is a fair comparison. The Massachusetts State Police Band isn't for everybody. The Massachusetts State Police Band sucks because their traditions suck. I have every right to criticize the Massachusetts State Police about how they have their bands. There are times bag pipes and drums alone in a band can be boring sometimes.

Not better, different. If you prefer the sound of a marching band to a pipe and drum corps that's a matter of preference, but the talent level of those two groups is about the same with the edge in drumming going to the pipe and drum corps.
They even use different drums with very different tuning, the pipe drums having snares on both the top and bottom heads with much higher tuning.

...da war ich vor inzwischen (2023) 37 Jahren auch mit dabei. Damals war noch Bonn die Hauptstadt und das SMK in Siegburg zu Hause und ich W15...
Es hat sich nicht viel verändert seit ich dabei war am Anfang der 80er. Hmm, 41 Jahre. Ich marschierte mit der Trommel direkt hinter dem Schellenbaum. Beim Kanzleramt hat der Schellenbaumtraeger dann einmal die Rechtswende verpasst und und musste sich umdrehen und laufen um wieder in die korrekte Position zu kommen.

I saw a video just like this a few years and when I saw the picture, I thought it was a reupload because it was almost exactly done the same as years ago. That's some awesome and beautiful attention to detail. I love militaries, no matter the nation. Tradition is history and history shouldn't ever be changed regardless of the past. It should be honored, revered, and learned from for future generations.
